Afternoon Eds, is there any truth in the rumour we are interested in Ryan Bertrand?

{Ed002's Note - I understand he is being considered as an option but Arsenal would need to pay for him now or have him sign a pre-contract for the summer. If pressed I would guess he will stay at Southampton for one more year.}

Thanks Ed002.

Matt Ryan has signed on loan until the end of the season from Brighton as GK cover, never heard of him tbh maybe the Ed’s can advise? Sounds like he has experience.

Yet you have heard of Odegaard and that signing makes perfect sense? Matt Ryan has been solid for Brighton and is a great loan signing for us. He is a shotstopper and very comfortable with the ball at his feet. I'm actually quite impressed that we made a sensible signing for once.

Lot`s of Brighton fans down here my Son included are annoyed he`s not playing in the first team let alone being third choice. Great back up for Leno - seen him live a few time at Amex and never got the jitters. Only thing is he is quite short at 6 feet for a keeper. Good choice me thinks COYG.

Try telling Peter shilton 6ft is short lol, he’ll still kick your backside at 71 🤣.

We`ll get him to hang upside down as Shilton used to. What a keeper especially at Forest not so good v Poland COYG.

Always thought Ospina looked short at just over 6ft.

Jesus, Matt Ryan on loan from Brighton until the end of the season. A very good goalkeeper indeed and is ample back up to Leno.

Hi Eds,

Can you confirm the rumours floating around the twittersphere that we have concrete interest in Palace's Tyrick Mitchell? I am also led to believe that he only has 6 months left on his contract so could get him for cheap. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - CP are not looking to sell Tyrick Mitchell but are looking to sell Patrick van Aanholt.}

Signing Odegaard means less playing time for ESR. He'll take a backseat once again which will frustrating for him I'm sure. A lot of people raved about Dani Cabellos, myself included and he's not exactly been superb in his time at Arsenal. Let's not forget about Dennis Suarez to. Could it be DS 2.0?

What does everyone else think? Ed's too!

{Ed002's Note - It is a strange choice and Arsenal have had better options in mind.}

I can only assume that these other choices may be looked at in the summer? It does baffle me for sure.

I’m far from a Dani fan. Can’t understand why we loaned him. He’s not the future and not good enough.

If ESR is going to have competition or sit on sidelines - why would we do it with the kid from Real. It will take the player 12 months to get up to epl standards. Bad idea in my book.

How did the media not pick up on the Mat Ryan signing? Ed do you think it’s a good signing for arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He had a very good reputation but Brighton decided some time ago it was not working out - so a loan makes sense in the short-term.}

22 Jan 2021 11:17:54
FFS you lot, it makes perfect sense. We don’t have the money to sign our long term targets, you all complain when we make rash decisions or take second or 3rd choice players like we did with Pepe because he was on HP terms rather than money up front
ESR cannot play every game and has had injury issues before so needs bringing through slowly
Odegaard has played approaching 30 games last season in la liga so will be a perfect fit without a risky lay out whilst ESR is bedded in as a first team regular
Honestly you lot have to stop moaning it’s depressing and a BANTER site not the Samaritans.

In my personal opinion I don't think Odeegard will walk into the first XI and take ESR's place - ESR has been fantastic since being integrated into the side, and as SY4 said Odeegard will need some time to adjust to the premier league. But I do think it is important we bring in another CAM/ #10 for rotation. We will have an extremeeely congested fixture list should we make it far in the FA cup and Europa league, and we cannot rely on ESR alone to play in the #10 position. We have seen what we were like playing without a true attacking mid (absolutely awful) and how important that position is to improve our attack. I have no doubt both ESR and Odeegard will get more than enough minutes each rotating, and I doubt that MA would want to stunt ESR's development now after seeing how much he has brought to our team. A good move for all parties involved IMO (provided Odeegard can find the level he did at Real Sociedad)

Agreed Colney but apparently odegaard won’t come to Arsenal to be used that way, GH said and apparently I’m an idiot ( which is sometimes true I admit)

22 Jan 2021 14:39:16
337 - why are you an idiot, where did you get that from? You’re normally having a go at me for being a fool. So if you’re an idiot - what am I?

So we agree we need creativity and we need someone capable of supplementing ESR but that can make an immediate impact and get up to epl standards.

I am not sure if another kid is the answer - that’s all.

Would never call you a fool mate. I’m just always seeing the positives others deal with things the other way, truth is we all want the best for the team we love.

Ødegaard has chosen to join the Arsenal for the remainder of the season!

It will be interesting to see the outcome. Ballague stated last night that he would prefer to join Real Soc over Arsenal and if that's the case then it's already a problem before he's arrived.

Yeah I believe that was the case before Arsenal came in for him. Since we registered interest he only wanted Arsenal.
