Wenger responding to the rumours about Gotze

''We have a big squad and we are not after anybody."

''Gotze is a very good player. I can understand there is a lot of interest in him around Europe."

''On our side, I do not think this is the best time to talk about it."

Hopefully just playing it cool so other clubs dont go in with huge offers.

And he told a german journalist: never say never

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but we also need to shut him out of the game tomorrow so that other clubs lose interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt that is shutting him out would make clubs lose interest in him, they wouldn't go on one game and they all gave scouts after all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger likes to keep his cards close to his chest so you neaver relly know, but I cannot see it happening in January. I guess we have a chance in the Summer but more than likely be priced out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do not forget when asked about The ox he said no we are not looking to buy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did he really say that about the Ox? Because every man and his dog knew we were in for the Ox haha.

Wenger is always an enigma. There's no point in trying to interpret his words in terms of transfers. Honestly, do we ever get any information for Wenger regarding trasnfers? The only way we hear about it prior to it happening is if the other club, a player's agent, or an insider hears the info. Wenger is a steel trap when asked about transfers.

I hope more stir is kicked up about Hazard and that the rest of the clubs try to get him instead of Goetze. Goetze is vastly superior and more hype for Hazard would lower Goetze's price.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^ agree gotze is superior to hazard...just what arsenal need and he's a simple guy...apparently hazard has behavious issues so madrid can fit him in with their other egos.

podolski, vertonghen and granero sound the most realistic from the endless list of names of players ive seen linked to us that will never play for us. i expect at most, one of them might sign in january if were lucky.

Believable8 Unbelievable16

And cahil possibly but im chuffed to hear that chelsea are readying a bid for cahil cuz i dont rate him and it will make chelsea easier to beat wenever he is in starting XI

Agree0 Disagree0

I wanted to ask ed why do you post on other teams

secret rider {Ed001's Note - which ed? And what do you mean by post on other teams?}

We need another striker to support Robin Van Persie but are people are actually serious about Klasnic? why? he simply isnt good enough, he's a good player but if we want to win the league or at least come third then Klasnic is out of the question. Someone like Benzema, Doumbia, Podolski etc would be closer to the mark we need.
That also brings me to my next point, we really need to raise our transfer standards, i saw names like Klasnic, Samba etc. and im thinking...what happened to names like Hazard and Benzema? we should be getting in those sorts of names, not hot and cold Bolton players! If arsenal sign:
Goetze = 25 mil + Chamakh
Doumbia = 20 mil
Vertonghen = 17 mil

and get rid of people such as:
Djourou = 4 mil
Squilaci = 2 peanuts
Denilson = a donkey
Almunia = a paella

We will be done. Imagine:
-------------------Szczesny-----------------------
--Sagna-----Vermaelen---Koscielny---Vertonghen--
---------------------Song-------------------------
---------Wilshere-------------Goetze--------------
---Walcott--------Van Persie---------Gervinho-----

subs: Fabianski, Mertesacker, Santos, Arteta, Ramsey, Park, Doumbia etc.

Doumbia and Van Persie will be scoring for fun, Gervinho and Walcott would be doing defenders heads in, Wilshere, Song and Goetze would be one of the best midfield trios in the premier league and that defence is young, athletic and rock solid with depth like Mertesacker and Santos incase of injury.

There isn't much more to it, just about keeping our good form and getting other players besides Van Persie scoring. If we keep this form up and get other players on the score sheet we...wait for it....have a chance of winning the league :O if we win every game from here on out, and man city drop points we actually have a chance, but lets just take things one step at a time haha.
Cheers,
Nick.

So spend £25m on someone who sits on the bench?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the post above and in all fairness when have we ever gone out and bought a gobal football superstar. we havent and proberly wont. we will buy an effective (cheap) player, 10m max. If wenger didnt break the bank for cesc or nasri or even Hazard who he is a huge fan, what make you think he will for any one else, especially a bench warmer as said before.

Well said mate!!

ArsenalKid10 -
I feel Wenger is a huge fan of the German Maestro in Mario Gotze and would splash £30m!

We don't need a Van Persie back up because we already have one in Chamakh... If he actually got some game time he would be as affective as he was when he first came! With game experience he would be able to finish off attacks that he is incapable of doing at the moment.
Maximum of £35m will be spent this January.
On Gotze (fingers crossed) and a left back/ centre back.

Lol proper numpty, just because you have a big name dont mean you can play EPL football look at Chamack. You have just tossed Ramsey out of the team he has been outstanding for club and country, TV needs to stay fit, Gibbs is better than Santos, Frimpong hasnt even got in your squad, and gervinho hasnt shown much to justify his 10m price tag, he dont score, he assists only a few goals his crosses are average and he is clumsy, park needs a chance we have made our bed of using the best this club already has so why bring in lots of egos into our tight dressing room, we need a striker but only on loan we have loanees out, kids comin thru and we bought some strikers in the summer. You failed to realise AW dont want to spend 50m he wants players to be AFC thru and thru JW has said he dont want to leave Arsenal ever TW wants to sign a new contract and if we win a cup RVP will stay but he could walk but only him none of our core players will go our unit is too tight with limited egos now nasri and cesc have turned there back on us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please punctuate your posts, I don't like reading as though I'm panicking because you can' be bothered to put a full stop.

Agree0 Disagree0

AW already spent money on the defence, so that is a no go. The midfield is conjested and it will definately have to be a clear out before buying(which I can't see happening) as for striking options, RVP is on form for now and I believe that one of our other attackers ie Walcott, Gervinho, Chamakh, Arshavin will eventually hit form aswell if they are given time to play the game. But what do I know? This is all speculation. The only certainty is that over the last few weeks we have played like champions, we won the hard games aswell as the easy ones but that doesn't mean we will finish champions. Football is a lottery but I can't see Man City or Man Utd dropping enough points for us to be champs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Vertonghen and Goetze but Doumbia is a bit excessive.

Doumbia is a lot of money for someone to sit on the bench. Chamakh is good when he starts but he is not going to be a starter and needs to be good off the bench. He isn't good off the bench so he should be sold. Park is a good backup. He's very talented on the ball and suits our technical style so I'm fine with him being RvP's backup.

Vertonghen's versatility (can play CB, LB, and DM) is extremely valuable. We don't have any experienced backups to Song, Vermaelen is injury prone, Gibbs is injury prone, and Santos isn't reliable enough in defense against top clubs. Vertonghen can shift around and help out where he is needed and help avoid a late season collapse that we've come to know all too well.

Goetze would be an amazing purchase. Not only is he extremely talented and has his whole career ahead of him, he has a good head on his shoulders and would respect his contract and the club unlike Nasri did (Hazard has the same poor attitude as Nasri).

Vertonghen and Goetze wouldn't be cheap but they'd be the perfect purchases.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id love that but vertonghen more like 15m max and doumbia 23m
I think we could get 4m out of denilson

Agree0 Disagree0

The truth about it is..........wow , yea great idea, sounds like a title winning team........but we support ARSENAL, and we have never spent money like that, thats why we are different, better and prouder of our team more than any other supporters are. Why would wenger want to change his philosphy, the philosphy that has made him unique and legendary...........All of us know that wengers last few years at the emirates will be his best, its meant to be........This team has more determination, more to prove, more grit than any aresnal team in a long time.....So lets be optimistic and cheer the gunners that we have on ..............COME ON YOU ARSENAL

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^^ Great Spirit But... Its Getting Harder Than Ever To Find Players That Can Become Would Class And Everyone Can See This Also Wenger Will Not Let Rvp Leave Without A Fight And Will Definately Fight For A Reason For Him To Stay Ie Better Quality Players

Agree0 Disagree0

Almunia = nothing
squilaci = send him back to seville and we will pay them
denilson = a weird stone

Agree0 Disagree0

Gervinho 2 goals and 7+ assists and more to come. 10mil justified better then andy carrol 35mil and 2 goals so far this season lol

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem with punctuation is a lot of people use phones and it becomes a pain constantly having to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've read all the replies, all valid points but il start with Doumbia sitting on the bench.
He will play most of the FA, Carling games. He will play a third of the season when Van Persie gets injured, and even when Van Persie is fit and starting, we can sub him on during the 60th minute or so so he would be at least appearing every game. It wouldnt be a waste because although Van Persie would START every champions league and EPL game, Doumbia would get subbed on for him every game or at least every second game, plus all the minor cup starts and van persies injuries, hel be getting plenty of action.
Secondly, I never said this is going to happen, i said this should happen. So all these negative people jumping on my back for have a bit of optimism, settle down.
Nick.
