Not sure I am that excited in reading that Jack Wilshere could be our anchorman next season.

He does not scare anyone, spends too much time on the floor, not the best tackler, poor discipline and looks like a weak link in the midfield if he is the anchor.

A centre two can not be Jack and Rambo. We need more than that to compete.

We need this position sorted more than any other on the pitch and can not compromise like this if we are build on last season

Fingers crossed that this is not the goal or the end result.

Discipline can be coached and a good talking to can stop the rolling around!
You're right about him not scaring anyone, but how many people did Pirlo scare? Not saying he's as good as Pirlo, but if he were to play there he would be a similar type of player!

Agree1 Disagree1

Disagree with how harsh you're being, if he's put in that role with specific instructions to be very disciplined positionally, I think he can recapture his breakout season form. He's always been best coming from deep and starting moves. Not saying I am backing it either, would prefer Lars Bender, but I can definitely see what Wenger's reasoning is.

Agree0 Disagree2

For the first time in many years we seem to have the money to buy whom we want. All are agreed that DM is our problem position and Wenger seems to have identified Carvalho and Schneiderlin as ideal candidates to remedy a continuing running sore in the team. Why then all this talk of trying to make a square peg fit a round hole.
Would we entertain the thought of playing Walcott as a replacement should our central defenders get injured.
Wilshere will have a difficult enough job getting a spot in the team as an attacking midfielder without trying to recreate him as a DM

Agree2 Disagree0

Even if he could perform the task, what does that mean after he gets injured in the 3rd match - CDM has to be durable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not forget we will still have flamini arteta and diaby who can play that roll if wilshire gets injured

Agree0 Disagree2

Bang on little G

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby and Arteta are not defensive midfielders. They are just 2 of several players over recent years that have been forced to play there, and it costs us over and over again. We still haven't replaced Gilberto, that's the bottom line.

Aurier joined PSG on a one year loan.

Anybody think he pushed for just a loan offer so he can have a chance to impress on the European stage and then push for a move to the Prem next summer?

It's PSG's get-around for the transfer restrictions imposed on them. PSG would be a far more attractive club for him than any premiership club anyway. The thought of just going there on loan to look for a move here is laughable.

Agree0 Disagree0

You may be right about the work around. But he has stated that he wants to go to the Premiership and that he would go to the one that shows him the most interest.

He has also stated that he has no intentions of staying in France but would do so for a short while if a bigger club came in for him.

Have heard Southampton are interested in getting Serge Gnabry on loan.

Could be a sweetener for Schneiderlin.

C'mon Arsene, make it happen, or send me in there to sort it.

Done deal.

Believable25 Unbelievable7

Slightly wide of the mark mate. its part of the chambers deal

Agree1 Disagree0

Either one sounds like a good bit of business for us. I rate gnabry. Loan these younger with good potential and get them game time

I will get absolutely slated for this but I have just heard from my Southampton Source that we have signed Callum Chambers and that it may actually be with the idea of him being CB cover primarily as well as RB cover.

15mil seems awfully high since we just paid 10mil for Debuchy though.

Believable8 Unbelievable24

Also, Southampton want Gnabry as part of the deal but are pushing for permanent deal whereas I think we only want loan him

Agree0 Disagree0

Be good deal all round wit few clauses as in gnabry should start at least a 1/4 of their games when fit and maybe feature in 60% of their season total though don't think it would be a problem as I the the lad will be a class act possible cdm wit skills and pace almost dare I say "vieria" like. when wilshere went too bolton it taught him something top clubs can't buy DESIRE

Agree0 Disagree0

Amano you are officially ITK.

Well played sir

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha! Cheers mate. Only for Southampton news though, unfortunately!

Is there any interest in Moussa Sissoko from Arsenal? Can play the holding role, he is athletic, still young and would be cheaper than other names we are linked with.

Believable1 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - No.}

23 Jul 2014 18:48:38
ed are we still in for Jackson Martinez and is there any chance he could sign this summer? Would be a great has said that he would love to play for arsenal although speculation linking him with arsenal has died down recently. Would appreciate a reply very much as Martinez as one of my favourite players.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

{Ed025's Note - he is a quality player mate and would cost a fair sum, both arsenal and utd have been keeping close tabs on him, but as far as him signing i would not be too sure..

23 Jul 2014 02:21:43
Ed002,

Is there anything in the rumour that Ateltico may look to Monreal if they don't get Moreno?

Thanks!

Believable12 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I understand that there is.}

23 Jul 2014 19:11:21
I hope so. Don't rate him at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed.

Any indication of who we would look to should he go?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not really, there was some interest in Rojo be he is in talks with another side right now.}

Do you know if arsenal will look to replace or promote a youth player? Don't know if that's the kinda thing u would know lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No idea.}

There was me thinking u knew all ed lol. Thanks anyway

Ed, is there any update over Carvalho or has nothing happened since we enquired?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware nothing more has happened.}

23 Jul 2014 08:24:47
Hi Eds, is there any update on our searching for a DM situation?. Schneiderlin is an option for us right now or he is closer to spurs?. Thanks!

Believable5 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - so far I don't believe either of you have met the asking price, so he is not closer to either.}

23 Jul 2014 08:14:04
Couldn't see anything on here but it's rumoured Montreal might be going to athletico Madrid. Any truth in this? I don't rate him much to be honest so wouldn't mind that

Oooops I forgot to mention Joel Campbell as well, so it's not surprising that Wenger has stated that he won't be signing a forward. bearing in mind we still need a keeper, a centre back & defensive midfield player, this makes sense.

Rumours emerging of Nani signing. Does this mean Podolski is going? Assuming this does happen we will have some interesting attacking options, with Giroud spearheading the attack with Sanogo as back up. We will have Sanchez, Walcott and Nani attacking from wide areas. I wonder if Wenger is finally thinking the time is right to push Walcott into a central striking role?

Believable4 Unbelievable34

Nani is always linked with arsenal and the deal never happens (thank God!).

Agree2 Disagree0

No hope poldi is way better player all round would wan 20 mill wit nani before even considerin it
