my old school mate is the chief football writer at the standard who has written today that podolski was at colney earlier in the week having a medical. He has told me previously he goes up there twice a week mostly so have no reason to doubt his article! I have never posted rumours before because i dont know any! however he is my mate and its just luck on this occasion that he has reported it! eds can confirm my non-rumour post cred.
Good news everyone!

My initial reaction is that this is complete bull. But just our of curiosity how far is Germany from London?

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends what part of london but no more than a two hour flights i think

Agree0 Disagree0

There has been a lot of noise about Podolski & I think he is on his way.

{Ed027's Note - Hey guys, someone wanted to know what changes i want made in the summer, so here it goes...

GK: Well i want Almunia out, and I’ve heard Mannone is looking to join Hull permanently, so this would mean a new GK has to come in, i want some experience there, also Fabianski is out of contract too, so although Shezza has sealed his spot, we could be looking at a new look back up.

Defenders: Squillaci gone enough said, i also want Djourou to go, simply not good enough, promote Bartley and Miquel, and bring some 1 experience in who knows the league, I’m thinking Distin or Hangeland

Midfielders: Denilson gone permanently, Benayoun back to Chelsea, i want Lansbury to have a chance, and i want a quality playmaker, don't know who

Wingers: Miyaichi given a go, as he is seriously a great talent, Arshavin gone as i think he’s given all he's got, and he needs to go home......
Or and PODOLSKI

Strikers: Bendtner and Vela out permanently, Chamakh out as he’s completely lost what he had, what’s the point of even keeping park?
give Afobe a chance and hopefully Campbell gets a permit, i also think another forward would be needed if there are so many departures, the word is Matias Suarez, but i think we should of got Klose last year, id want Hunterlaar, but the thing is would he sit on the bench?

Staff: Bring in Keown to replace Rice

Believable25 Unbelievable11

I agree with you ed and i think we will have a central attacking midfielder for sure! someone better than ramsey! looool

real goon {Ed027's Note - im a fan of ramsey, i think hes knackered, and will just get better, and he is much better when wilshers is playing

Agree0 Disagree0

Jaaskaleinen in the summer. Out of contract and a great keeper. Already sitting in the bench at filament, so why not arsenal?

Clock end gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Both agree and disagree with you ed. As e replacement CD, I believe Vertonghen would be an better option than Hangeland. He will be cheaper, and can also cover for LB, and CDM. I also believe that Ramsey is no way near good enough and that we really need a worldclass ACM. I agree that we need a good backup-goalkeeper. My suggestion is a surprise.....not so well-known, it is Sten Grytebust of Aalesund. He will be the new national-goalkeeper in Norway soon. And Aalesund has been good at developing goalkeepers.....(Note Lindegaard of Man Utd). Podolski will be a great signing......but the most important thing, is to keep our players fit! Build a test-lab like they have in Milano....it is better to be preventive, than to heal! {Ed027's Note - i myslef wanted verthongen, but i thought whats the point hes just be on the bench, dont forget there are a load of clubs in for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 027. I knew you would not let me down when i suggested you would reply to the earlier post. I like the idea of Suarez being a back up or even playing alongside RVP in some games. This post along with Miss Arsenal's are good as they show that there will be a clear this summer and then we just need players that AW can get that add to the team spirit and performance. I am not myself in favour of any 30 mill players like Gotze or Hazard and would rather AW got back to his old instincts of finding good value but definately not more Squillaci's.
KJ

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe we will sign:
1) a reserve keeper, as Fab looks likely to go.
2) A striker or two if RVP departs. Probably Podolski & another if RVP leaves.
3) A midfield player. Your guess is as good as mine! Too many names been mentioned.
I do not believe we will sign another CB, as we have Verm, Merts, Kos & Djourou. We also have Miquel & Bartley maturing well. Djourou isnt my cup of tea, but I think Wenger will keep him, as he is youngish & qualifies as an English player for squad purposes.
So its 3 or 4 players if RVP goes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Almunia is out of contract in the summer and will be released.

GoonerDan

Agree0 Disagree0

On the staff issue bould should be promoted, then bring keown in as a coach.

We will make 2 big summer signings. 1 will be podolski or Giroud 2. will either be Gotze, or M'vila . there may be a goalkeeper, the young lad at Birmingham. But i know for a fact that it's only 2 signings.

Believable4 Unbelievable17

You don't know anything for a fact !
Arsene probably does not know yet

Spain Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Why bother coming on this site? How could you possibly know only two signings will happen?

W12Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think only two. It all depends on who we can sell out of the mediocre players. It's one in one out. We need new sponsorship deals and so we have to win things next year and sell new shirts. GoonerDan

I think the young guy is nathen redmond

I am not sure what section to put this in..

I am not sure how accurate this is but I will relay anyway.

There is word (from parties that know and deal with the player) that the Jack Wilshere situation 'MAY' be a little worse than first thought. There is even a train of thought that football at the highest level may be in doubt. I am not one for rumour mongering (as the Eds can attest by looking back over my posts. I have merely always commented not brought news.)
This may be one for Miss Arsenal to look into. But I can assure you that the sources are in the know. That is all I will and can say, as that is what I have heard 'almost' in its entirety save for the sources names, who shall remain anonymous.

Leading on from this.... IF the above is true, apart from being an absolute hammer blow to the club (I wouldn't take it too well either), I can see approaches for Gotze coming to the fore.

Kermit79

Believable5 Unbelievable32

Yeah. good one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been hearing the rumours about Wilshere for a long time now, how many times has he been "just about" back already? Rumour I heard was out until at least after the Euros, but maybe never back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Believable, if not begrudgingly. Like everyone i hope he returns fully fit and playing at the highest level as he was before but perpetual injury cant be healthy for his game long term.

NottsGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

He wouldnt be the first talent that got destroyed by injury, but as an Arsenal fan, that really would be a massive loss. I hope he is back playing asap..

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger said he's training with the ball again and will be fit for the euros as long as he doesnt have another set back, and he is not an a arsenal fan he is infact a westham fan. People "in the know" really know sweet FA

ed, what is the latest with regards to RVP contract negotiations?

surely even our mess of a board can see that he is carrying the team and he needs to be kept.

bs18 {Ed002's Note - There is no "latest" I am aware of. Expect it to be a matter for the summer.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

In order for RVP to stay, the following should happen:
1). £5 million signing fee
2). £150,000 a week contract for 4 years
3). Finish 3rd in the PL
4). Make at least 3 quality signings as the window opens: Podolski, Vertonghen & Mathias Suarez or Olivier Giroud.

instead of wasting 30 million on Gotze, why not buy Gourcuff for 12 which is what his club said he could move for, then get Marko Marin for probably 10 and throw an 8 million bid in for Marvin Martin....might not get all 3 for 30 but we'd definitely get 2 of them. much better use of that sort of money. {Ed002's Note - And the wages? It really is not as simple as you think.}

Believable12 Unbelievable22

Marvin Martin would cost WAY over 8m, gourcouff is a different type of player to Goetze altogether he's more like Arteta in his way of play, as he can dictate through passing but you won't see him make many runs with the ball, and on top of that he's getting on now and I can't see us taking him for £12m

Now Marin is interesting because he was touted to be as talented as gotze when he first hit the scene, of course he fell off the wagon along the way into mediocrity, but now he seems to be upping the game again, my only concern is he'd be a bmade into a winger by wenger not his favoured in the hole position

D {Ed002's Note - I think both Martin and Marin are far more viable options for Arsenal than the likes of Harzard and Goetze. Arsenal, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Napoli, Juventus and Roma have all shown an interest in Marko Marin in the past. Perhaps Italy is the most likely destination, and I understand his preferred destination.

Dortmund, Lille, Lorient and Anderlecht have enquired after Marvin Martin, but Valencia and Arsenal have been most serious in the pursuit of the Socheaux player. I suspect a move in the summer is possible.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasting?

wasting would be spending 50 million on a striker who cant score

Agree0 Disagree0

I would buy players worthy of champions league performance.

Martin and marin dont play champions league and for me they do not possess the talents to play at on that stage yet.

Gotze won Europes best U-21 player award ahead of our own Jack wilshere and Thaigo from barcelona.

And yes i think he is better than jack, in terms of skill, pace and technical ability...but jack is still Mr arsenal of the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gourcuff is not my cup of tea. We have plenty of midfield options once Wilshere & Abu Diaby are back.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd buy Menez from PSG and Gourcuff, both have played Champions League. leave Marin and Marvin for another year or two, wouldn't spend 30 million on Gotze.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gourcuff would have been a good signing 5 years ago.

I would really like Christian Eriksen tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gourcuff hasnt been the same after his injury, would rather get a young player who is good and only going to get better

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger would never £30 million on anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nuri Sahin and Marvin Martin...that'd be money well spent. Marvin would come because he's French..be interesting to see how long he'd stay....and Sahin because he's not getting a look in at Madrid....and wenger was in for him prior to his move to madrid...worth a shot...mind you he'll probably buy no one, now that we'll finish third....

Hello people... Been a while. Been very busy, went on Holidays AND I've been banned from Twitter/This site whilst at work lol...

Just had some info which I cannot say for sure IS 100% accurate but it's about as accurate as can be. - Basically I've recently been told that "There will be plenty of activity in the summer because AW believes that the squad is short."

I've also been told our transfer dealings will happen much earlier, in the window this year around... As well as this I asked about our "deadwood" players and have been told the following.

"Everyone [bar Frimpong, Miyaichi, Campbell, Lansbury & Bartley] who has gone on loan or wasn't registered at the end of Jan, will be gone in the summer"

This of course implies Almunia, Denilson, Arshavin, Bendtner et al, will not be Arsenal Players come 2012/2013.

=Miss Arsenal.

Believable23 Unbelievable13

Wat about Wellington, c'mon he's still young, AW can mould him. galindo, botelho..?

danijel

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow I hope this is true, good work if it is, but what about Park? Surely we won't get rid of him having only got him last summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

=miss arsenal,is it true a bid has been made for goetze?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the first poster, botelho and gallindo will be on loan if they aren't in the team next year, they won't get sold, Wellington maybe due to his attitude, plus we can't just say all these players will leave, we'd have to find buyers at reasonable prices for the likes of bendtner and vela, unless they become part of a swap deal, and I can't see many of the clubs who'd want those two, forking out the appropriate amount (correct me if I'm wrong actually, but isn't bendtners contract up soon? In which case im just going on vela!)

D

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha and boom, just like that, you're puppies to a food bowl.

"There will be plenty of activity in the summer." NO SH*EP. This has been on the cards since last summer, this is no rumour. We all know he knows the squad is short, that in itself is not a sign of players coming in though. This part of the rumour = common sense, that's it.

"Everyone will be gone in the summer." So basically the most popular wishlist of players out, but also the most logical, is what you're offering up as rumour? It's not rumour. This entire post is meaningless! Of course we all think that lot are going. And of course we all think that lot are staying.

This post may as well have just read "Guys, some stuff will happen in the summer." It really is that generic, just dressed up nicely. Poor.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think keeping them cause we cant get the best deal is an option. As long as we dont ask for crazy money. which to me chamakh should be the most at 5-6 mill.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kind of an admittance that the transfer policy of the last 5 years has been wrong, and his judgement of players has been poor. Fans were telling Wenger that Wilshere and Sczesny were ready 12-18 months before he promoted them!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im bookmarking this post because just like always, miss arsenals 'rumour' post, should be on the 'banter' page. time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

I love how those knocking me cannot leave their names.

Actually, almost everything I've posted here since I started has come to fruition, so yes... Let's 'wait and see'.

As for those asking about Botelho. He too has a bad attitude and has been in trouble w/ the law since his loan spell - But he also is in need of a work permit and at this moment isn't generating enough to do so. The guy has been loaned out for FIVE YEARS & still has not proved he is ready.

But bare in mind I said I asked about our "deadwood" players, not that I asked about ALL Players, on loan. Wellington, Galindo and Botelho aren't, in my eyes at least, considered "deadwood" to the squad.

I also believe this may include Vela and Chamakh as well even though he isn't on loan.

But why should this be 'banter'? It's not what a mate down the pub has guessed, this has come direct, from my place of work... And the person I spoke to does get their info 'straight from the horses mouth' so to speak.

In regards to Mario Goetze, no... As of yet, no bid has been made but enquiries have. Twice since the middle of February so far. But his agent is continuously denying it.

Just to add there's also no concrete confirmation on "Pre-Agreement" finalisations w/ Matias Suarez nor Lewis Holtby.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks M.A for the info. Dont listen to these jokers above...true or not, u give quality posts and a better read then "we r getting gotze and hazard in the summer".

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to see you back MA haven't missed much lol

Podolski is still rumbling along, looks like you may have been onto something about that, and my transfer darling Gotze also.

Wouldn't it be amazing to see them both?

How comes you got banned then from here/twitter? Never struck me as somebody who broke rules and got banned?

CS {Ed007's Note - Miss A wasn't banned from here that I know of.}

All good new if true, even if it doesnt come to fruition, adds a bit of spice to the pre-transfer buzz

Believable29 Unbelievable2

You know, if you're implying what I think you're implying... you really shouldn't use baby oil for that sort of thing! Oil causes infections, always use something water based!

Its your rivals you want it to hurt use pepperspray and plastic lol

Yes I do think with 3 players we could annihilate the 'arseh0les' currently above us in the league :) Lets hope to see them brought in
