Crunch sport are this morning reporting that Rennes have signed a replacement for M'vila and their General Manager a guy called Pierre Dreossi is kind of expecting him to leave saying he possibly expects contact from Arsenal, also saying Man Utd, spuds and Zenit interested. Also said price tag was 20 million euros. So who knows. If he's as good as people say it would only be a plus.

It ain't no thing even were it true, the man is trouble and a desperate 3rd or 4th choice after yet another tranfer window where we have shown yet again how those tasked with making signings at Arsenal are incompetent. Can't stop selling what world-class players we do have to our biggest rivals and can't attract decent players to the club.

How many yann m'villa' are out there, coz we've signed a m'villa every 48 hours for the last 8 weeks

I really think there is a possibility of this. When questioned on Sahin, Wenger said that he wasn't a deep operating midfielder, and was too similar to Wilshere. This indicates we're after someone more defensive and M'Vila fits the bill. I think the hold-up has been so Rennes find a replacement (which they have) and to knock a few quid off the price, which looks to have happened also.
I fully expect M'Vila to sign before deadline day.
Slick Mick.

how exactly is a german international with over a 100 caps, the top scorer in the french league last season and a player who is rated higher than juan mata by the spanish coach not decent players?

A defensive mid is needed. According to SSN, Biglia is in talks with Norwich City to go on loan. We have already made a bid for Wanyama which was rejected and AW is considering a bid for Capoue. Another striker and defender is being talked about, but I dont know about either, there is nothing in the media suggesting anything concrete.

I cant believe people are so harsh with others on here, it would be a sorry day for arsenal football club if anyone truly in the know, wenger gazidis and two others posted on a rumours site! That being the case, there are media reports, odd snippets people pick up that may have elements truth and guesses/opinions based on the sum of other rumours, i think all can legitimately aired on here without people getting angry and insulting people. you can refute stuff without being fierce! i dont read newspapers, i come here to get the general gist of them, tbh, so that i can sort the cazorla/sahin type rumours, where clearly club to club discussions have taken place from say, the kaka/affelay ones which actually no one has provided evidence of meaningful media reports on.

Hearing from a source inside the club AW didn't want to pay all of sahins wages despite the fact he agreed to a pay cut for the buy out clause we offered. Wenger wants to pay £11m but real have offered a£14m clause and Liverpool are willing to pay that. AW is also in for a striker (possibly seydou doumbia although my source didn't confirm this) a midfielder (unknown if sahin doesn't join) and criscito(lb) as a swap deal for arshavin as AW wants someone who can cover Gibbs and santos at LB

24 Aug 2012 12:48:54
i have not heard any of this coming from anyone improtant at arsenal...its been two days since i last heard anything.
all i knew at that time was that it was a loan without a buy out clause, and the reason liverpool are in, is due to the fact that a loan only deal will suit them for sahin.
i have no idea why tiote, is being linked with arsenal, or leandro damiao, as Malaga gooner states, this is pure b.s
there is no michael owen thats b.s too.
and arsenal did not enquire about hernandez, they were offered hernandez to make the rvp deal cheaper, however they valued hernandez over 15 mill and close to 20 mill, so that was a no go.
its not as easy as you might think to find out info from arsenal. its taken me 4 years to get someone to tell me tid bits of info...unless your wengers daughter.
this last week of the transfer negotiations goes down to 5 people, this is what i was told last week. ivan, wenger, and the guy who is incharge of all the medicals, the solicitor, and the pr guy.
all of these guys keep their secrets as close to their chests as possible...the press generally find out the info from the club that has been contacted by arsenal, then they claim to write the article as if they have spoken directly to the arsenal figure.
fact is not many people know much about arsenal. and i would bet that only 1-2 people on here will know about all of this...the rest are just make up artists.
once again with the theme of yesterday...i know of nothing happening today...yet

i have been informed that wenger has cooled interest because hes not willing to pay that much percentage of wages for a player on loan, also the main reason is because wilshere has been put down for a return to full training in 3 weeks at the latest. the boy is flying in his recovery im told and has even told the club that hes ready to play next week , which wont happen as arsenal are very cautious with him.
to make this clear if wenger can negotiated with madrid and get closer to the terms he wants, sahin will be signed, IMO its for the best we dont as sahin was seen as temporary cover for song. so now we are in the market for a DM (there is a big interest in tiote but fee could be the turning point. also wanyama is been looked at (wasnt involved in europe for celtic which is interesting)
finally dont listen to anyone who tells you that arsenal arent in the market for a striker as we are ..miralles(EVERTON) even came out and said he rejected arsenal because he was told he wasnt guarenteed a minutes.. park is on his way out on loan. bendtner gone to.. Michael Owen is getting mentioned alot and tbh if he was our 3rd striker i would love it but we need a 2nd striker who can challenge giroud for a start. Podolski is a winger for all you that are going to say hes the 2nd striker. my source who is spot on with everything he tells me ,, has told me that arsenal are keeping there cards close to their chest on the striker issue, llorente (spanish media are adament that hes off to arsenal but i cant see it) i do know that arsenal enquired about both hernandez's (Man utd) (Palermo)

If the lure of champions league football and playing for One of the biggest club in the world isn't enough for Sahin then quite frankly we're better off without, let him got to Liverpool and play for a second rate team in the second rate european competition.
Agree0

Lose to liverpool on a player? we got rejected by madrid not the player. liverpool are paying 5 million for a player on loan and paying all his 115,000 wages and dont even have a buy option at the end . thats was what you call rubbish business

Yeah, Wilshere is flying in his recovery. It's only been a year...

Yes it was banded about that he was going to be out until november. and he could be playing right now if arsenal let him. i call that flying when he has recovered that fast from a career threatening injury.

Agree0

Erm . . . Podolski not 2nd striker...did you see where he played against Sunderland? Not as a winger! Gervinho and Theo have the flanks
Agree0

The reason sahin didn't come is because mourinho didn't want him to play for a champions league team that is in competition with real Madrid. Sahin would have preferred arsenal.
Another reason is that wenger wanted a buy option and he wasn't getting it. Don't blame sahin or arsenal.

24 Aug 2012 00:51:40
Arsenals and liverpools cards are on the table. Sahin will make decision in the next 24 hours. He will be an arsenal player this season. Brendon's rovers has no experience in high profile signings and therefore believes just because he has had a conversation with sahin and his agent that he is Liverpool bound.
He wil not snub arsenal for liverpool.

No they havnt reported anything of the sort they said they were close. arsenal and liverpool have both had a loan offer accepted it is down to sahin who he chooses to play for. inevitably i think the lure of champions league football is too good. As far as loan players are concerned it would be a good signing it would give us the quality we require while jack returns to his best

BBC and SSN confirming that Arsenal have quite possibly lost out to obtain Sahin, as Liverpool have swooped in and offered a better deal. They've agreed to pay more of Sahin's 115£k wages, and from the looks of it, they have a buy-out option of 14£m if they want to keep the lad at the end of the loan.
Nothing 100% confirmed yet, but seems very close. Brendan Rogers also confirming talks are well down the line.
Don't know what to say. Arsenal seemingly not getting a buy-out option, but LFC allowed to do so? Seems like Mourinho has played his cards and trolled Arsenal with a joker. Perhaps Wenger didn't want to develop a player for Mourinho.
Either way, I hope AW has some targets lined up. News has put a damper on many Arsenal fans heads.
Believable62
Unbelievable14
Could possibly be the deal JM has offered Arsenal, Liverpool AND Juventus and left it up to Sahin?

The fact Bendan Rogers had previously worked under Mourinho has likely meant that Mourinho wanted to do his old pal a bit of a favour, while at the same time pissing of Wenger abit.

I am a very depressed life long Arsenal fan. Yet again we fail to make a deal over some morale stand over money. At the moment I cannot see us ever winning anything again if we keep letting deals slip through our hands....

According to the BBC, there's also a 5M loan fee. At that price, I don't blame AW for passing.
Agree0
Disagree0
This is possibly poor reporting (ok, probably). Sahin didn't really want to go to Liverpool to begin with, can't see him agreeing to a full purchase option. He has said before that he fancies himself becoming a replacement for Alonso, I seem to remember? Could be just faulty memories but doubt he will move to the PL permanently next season.
Agree0
Disagree0
No ones mentioning champions league footy which is a big pull. I think people are being a bit ridiculous and panicing - he's a bench player and if e chooses ;iverpool so be it - we need a DM a defender and a striker no a non interested player. Choose arsenal sahin - or play with the rvps
Agree0
Disagree1
Who cares where Sahin is going. This story is yesterdays news. I would advice Wenger (a) not to use this as an excuse & (2) we DO NEED a DM. Wenger mentioned he won't sign a replacement 4 song but to build up Frimpong to cover the role. I'm sorry i think Wenger is starting to lose it. Arsenal fans are getting frustrated by the way the club is being run. Yes it's great the way the financial is being dealt with carefully, however i'm 4 1 will not accept the ending the season 3rd or 4th in the league is good. When we moved in to The Emirates Wenger said trophies will be rolling in. The only trophies we have is is the emirates cup. Arsenal have the cheek to charge the most expensive season tickets in the league, no respect 4 the fans at all! A very angry Gooner.
Agree0

Liverpool is the best club in wasting money, the money they dont have.
Agree0
Disagree0
Back to the same old whingers, we don't really need another playmaking midfielder, if he was available at the right price then we would get him. As he is not we seem to have passed on him. Depressed how,we have Carzola, Giroud and Podolski-suggest you find another club if AFC depresses you that much.
Agree0
Disagree0
Yes, Wenger didn't want to develop a player for Mou, but he just sold to already developed players to Man U and Barca. Doesn't make sense to me. Cheap, cheap Wenger!! Anyway, really hope this is not true and Sahin ends up in Arsenal shirt.
Agree1
Disagree0
This has nothing to do with 'losing out' out on Sahin. Wenger changed his mind about him a while back and has been looking at others options instead. It's the media that has been hyping this, not the club.
Agree0
Disagree0
I agree that it's nothing to do with losing a player - that is bull shi-ite gutter press - we need players who want to play for Arsenal - the calibre & loyalty of Verms Kos and Wilshire - not some Turk or England has been looking to further their careers or boost their retirement fund - we have money - buy quality.
Agree0
Disagree0
A proper DCM is surely more important than another playmaker? We already have Cazorla, Arteta, Rosicky and Wilshere to carry out that role. Admittedly two of them are injured at the moment but in my opinion we need someone who wont go walkabout like Song used to and guard the defence against counter attacks. Creating and scoring goals is not a problem but conceding them may very well be. Gunner since 70 - keep the faith!
Agree0
Disagree0
If Wenger wants Sahin then he should not loose him to Pool, if he does not want him why enter the process? We have become losers (Mata, Hazard) even Arteta had to take a pay cut to join from Everton?

Liverpool are confident of announcing a deal for Sahin in the coming days, as they say the deal is far down the line.
Wenger may of had a change of heart and wanted Sahin on a permenant deal, with Madrid and Sahin both against that.
Sahin was in favour of an arsenal move, as he thinks wenger could help his career, and give him CL expierience.
If wenger is insistent on a permenant deal, this move is almost dead In the water I'm afraid ladies and gents.
Very annoying, but if we can drag in M'villa, Capoue or Biglia, I'd be satisfied.
(I'm fairly happy now!)

If it is true that Liverpool have re-"hijacked" this deal then I will be truly disappointed.
As a gooner I might sound biased, but Sahin will be wasting his time and talent going to LFC. They have nothing to offer and their performances both tonight and last weekend reinforce this.
Lets just hope that the recent silence means good news is on the horizon and we haven't been mugged of a potential season-changing signing.
