I've been hearing of more interest in Arshavin.

From PSG and also from Russia.

Personally if we can get around £8-£10 mil for him I'd be happy. Even if we don't sign a replacement.

Its clear he doesn't want to be at Arsenal and we have some great options for his position, Chamberlein will soon be making it his own and Miyaichi deserves a chance.

We also have Walcott, Benayoun, Gervinho who can play there, maybe with Park, Rosicky, Gibbs, santos, Wilshere if desperately needed.

All of these players, maybe with the exception of Walcott, have shown desire to play for the team. Arshavin is surplus to requirements.

We can evaluatet he position in the summer and make a signing then if needed.

Believable33 Unbelievable14

I am sorry mick
but if know 1 else is going to say it your an idiot, how is any of those good enough for arsenal.FFS how can you come up with that statement
malaga gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry did you just say Walcott, Wilshere, Ox, Gervinho et al, weren't good enough for the club... Malaga?

And you call Mick an idiot?

Shake your head.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everybody so damn rude on here this year? Last year people were far more gracious!

He's not an person for his opinions, just as you are not for yours.

I'd love to see Arshavin make way for £10M and Oxlade-Chamberlain get his starting place for sure. The rest though I think are just about making it as squad players. Walcot still has potential, now he can learn from Henry and compete with Oxy we may see him improve.

Wilshere coming back will be amazing we have looked terrible since Cesc and him have been out the team.

SM

Agree0 Disagree0

What are you expecting Wenger to do? Go out and spend £50 mil rebuilding out midfield?
You are calling me the idiot... be realistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you want us to sell everyone of those players in January yeah that would help us through our injury crisis wouldn't it mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think AW killed Arshavin. He should play CAM when cesc left and we signed no replacement.

DrchoGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin will sell for £5m maximum and then he will receive 5% of the fee. I disagree with Malaga Gooner, I am a United fan and think Ox and Wilshere are quality players, I don't rate Walcott or Gervinho mind. Walcott has turned out to be very disappointing, Gervinho is too wasteful in good areas, but Ox looks a great prospect and Wilshere doesn't get many assists or goals, but he is the engine in the middle.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I also think Wenger has ruined arshavin, making him track back all the time, thats just not in Arshavins game.
At least Wengers realised hes wrong not leaving someone up at corners and set pieces, always does now.

A GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

Let him go even on a free, it will free the wages and we wouldnt have to see his lazy performances. Walcott is not only pants, he is soiled pants (is that the right way to use that word?)

Ash

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg,
mick i am sorry for being rude to you
but lads he named 3 players that are rubbish.
1 that has never played first team football and the ox who could be world class who i bet will not play 10 pl games next season.
we have gone from the best team in the country in 2004 to this are
since when has this been good enough for arsenal
SORRY MICK
malaga gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks M.A and SM ..
There really is no need for name calling.
We are all as frustrated as each other with our current performances.

Still, we have to be realistic, It's very unlikely Wenger will make any signings this month and only will in the summer if the right player comes along at the right price, he has said it himself.
Any dreams of 3 marquee signings, i feel are unlikely. At best we will get one with maybe a couple of youngsters or relative unkowns in the summer.

If our current squad really commits to the cause and us fans get behind them we can still achieve something this season.

Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the apology Malaga.. No hard feelings

Agree0 Disagree0

Errrr..... Mods come on!

Two other people type person but when I type it you changed it to 'person'. Even I clearly said NOT an idiot!

You already forced me to drop my CS tag now you are making it look like I am being rude again! What have you got against me?

SM {Ed001's Note - give it a rest, what are you 5? The swear filter sometimes alters it to person, for some unknown reason, but then if you weren't using it then it wouldn't happen would it?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a true gent mick nice1
malaga gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Try 30, and as far as I know person is not swearing so a swearing filter will not filter it out. And please don't speak to me that way, I have not been rude to anybody or to you.

Im a mag but i heard this up here. Apparentley Real madrid are watching the arsene wenger situation closely as they expect to part company with mourhiniho at some point before the end of the season and see wenger as the man to stabalise the club! This is supposed to have come from a reporter at the northern echo!

Believable21 Unbelievable25

Can't really see that happening. Mourinho will never manage Arsenal, and Wenger will never manage Real.

Just looking at the past appointments of both clubs and how the club culture works neither one of these would have much chance of working out.

SM

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really need Mourinho at this club. He really lowers the tone a bit. Been thinking about our situation and as much as I want Arsenal to spend gazzilions and bring in 100 players, do we really want to be the next Chelsea and Man City. On top of that, do we need someone like the eye gouging Mourinho. As much as I am frustrated at the moment, I dont really think I am ready for post-Wenger Arsenal. Get rid of Pat Rice and bring in someone who can teach Arsenal how to take a corner or defend one for that matter.

SA gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see Wenger managing RM but not Mourinho managing Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

You sure, SM?

When Dein was fired. AW went to the board, asking them to release him so as he could go on to manage RM...

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Said

EV

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I am frustrated by the unwillingness of the board to release the purse strings for quality signings, I DO NOT want that lizard Mourinho anywhere near our club. Granted, the man has a respectable record when it comes down to winning trophies, and we haven't exactly shone in that department for the last few years, but he is too vulgar, too vile, too negative for our great club. Also, the man can only work with money, and if Mr. wenger is not getting the sufficient funds for player purchases, then how can we expect a new boss to get these funds? Give Mr. Wenger til the end of next season, lets assess what happens when the fair play rules come in at least..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but the board, the players, the manager and all the usual people in the club have said otherwise.

I'm more inclined to trust them and think that, than go on old information from years ago that is hardly relevent.

Where did Wenger ask for a transfer to RM? I never heard that

SM

Agree0 Disagree0

When Wenger goes to Real he will take Van Persil with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has anybody got an idea of who could replace Wenger?

I don't think Mourinho would even want the job he likes clubs with money to burn which we obviously have not ever had, and still don't have. Plus if the board were unhappy with Dein's behaviour (which I remember is why the ousted him) then they are hardly going to like 'The Special One' are they?

LOL he would probably be terrible for us, make us into defensive and boring runners up. No better than what we are now, and I seriously doubt he is a better manager than Wenger. If Wenger was handed a transfer chest of £250M we would have won every league since!

SM

Agree0 Disagree0

SM we don't have to be mansh**y or Chelsky. But one worldclass player a year is just what we need. Developing own players is great but you need to add a WC quality too

DrchoGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that wenger should stay at the club ,of course we are a bit frustrated due to our lack of trophies but remeber that with his transfer policy comparing with chelsea's policy arsenal are separated by only 5pts ,so think that there was another manager at arsenal, where were we?batling with norwich and wba for the middle table?

Agree0 Disagree0

Just do a swap sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im the mag who posted the first post and whereas i can see wenger leaving of being pushed i dont think JM will ever manage arsenal due to his chelsea links! But can see wenger leaving cos of the abuse he getting!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think JM would be a fantastic coach for Arsenal. RM play great football under him, with the exception of some of the El CLassicos. What JM would relish is being left to manage a team and being given the control that AW has. He has taking a couple of swipes at AW in the passed about the loyalty that he has a Arsenal and they where very jealous sounding.

He would bring a winning mentality to Arsenal, something that the team lacks at the moment. This come from AW, comments like finishing second is ok etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

In fantasy, it sounds great (re: JMourinho as arsenal coach) but his philosophy is quite different from how Arsenal play (believe it or not, there is or use to be something called the 'Arsenal' way of playing) ...Guardiola/Remi Garde/Unai Emery are more suitable candidates as they have similar styles and most importantly know how to work under limited budgets...I fear Mourinho will not be able to do well under limited resources which Arsene has been working with for a while (people dont appreciate that...what he has done with it ) ... DO you want someone who will potentially bring success for a short term or someone that intends to stay for a long time...

EV

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see Wenger at RM.
Can you imaging him filling the team with second rate French players and telling the fans that 4th is like a trophy?

ED! I'm ashamed of you! Your happily replying to transfer questions on Arsenal Rumours page, but not on Chelsea Rumours Page!

Disguisting.

*tut tut tut*

I expected more from you ED....... {Ed002's Note - Well the Arsenal supporters welcome me. It is nice here. Everybody signs their name. No doubt the Arsenal supporters have signed up to my Facebook fan page: tinyurl.com/7fbgecd where they can roll one up and hang with the beautiful people.}

Believable14 Unbelievable7

First of all, I've visited the Chelski site many times and I commend the Eds for the patience they have had with you people. It's like a bunch of spoiled children asking their mommy what Santa is bringing them for X-mas....every day of the year!
Btw Ed002, puff puff pass it on please. Leave some for me too!
Ezdee

Agree0 Disagree0

Quick point.....
Why is it that so many 'diehard' supporters of other teams feel the need to come onto the Arsenal page?
I can categorically state that I have never ventured onto the other pages, as I couldn't give a monkeys what happens in the patch where the spuds hang out or bother taking a walk through the farm to visit the Chelsea tractors.
I suppose it reflects on the fans. You visit the Arsenal if you want a discussion, you visit Spurs/Chelsea if you want a big 'I am' shouting match.
Just thought I would bring some sweeping generalisation to the table.

Usmanov will make his move to buy out Kroenke at the end of the season, he will bring Dein back on board and the manager will be Mourinho. Funds will be released to make the necessary signings.

Believable22 Unbelievable50

Something will change after June, as they have to wait that long something to do with the Financial/Share situation.

I believe Dein will be coming back - And Usmanov will have some role; but I'm doubting Mourinho will come in as AFC Manager.

Although being as he is seemingly now "out of favour" at Real despite their form as of late [more to do w/ player infraction] and things taking a turn for AW... Wouldn't surprise me.

=M.A.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is your source, you don't have to name it- but is this speculation or your fantasy? Or...have you heard from a reliable source, etc.

Not to be mean or rude, but this sounds like a complete fantasy to me- sorry.

But as always the proof is in pudding, if that happens, fair play to you. Perhaps leave your name or nickname so you can get credit.
LG

Agree0 Disagree0

Usmanov has on 2 previous occasions offered to buy kroenke shares at hi premiums and both times has been turned down, and now the St Louis Rams have announced they will play in London for the next 3yrs (who kroenke owns 100%) and all the talk about them having a permanent franchise in london, seems to me Kroenke has a long term plan to own Londons biggest sports clubs.
Small share holders need to sell to Usmanov in order to force a place on the board.......

Agree0 Disagree0

What happens with the financial/share situation in June?

Agree0 Disagree0

If Dien Comes Back Wenger Wont Be Going Anywhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think Mourinho will be suitable for Arsenal, tactically he is everything that is not the Arsenal way.
I hope Dein comes back soon but would the new financial fair play system block Ushmanov pumping millions into transfers (we wont be spending within out means). Still tho i want it to happen.
I'd keep AW over Mourinho. as long as AW buys quality players we'll be back to the glory days

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally think if usmanoz and dein come into power!! wenger will be kept as they would try him and let him spend! and trust me if he gets atleast two of the star players we are linked with arsenal will be all goon'd up ;)

and dein coming bak hmmm if it does happen he would not want wenger to leave!

either way i have a feeling wenger is 25% to blame ONLY and he is not going anywhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that I really would like to see AW leave arsenal, but if things didnt improve by June then Mourinho would be an ideal candidate amongst probably only one or two other managers. The big change Arsenal really do need is bring Dein back, and sign 1 or 2 players who will improve our lacklustre team

goonerdan

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not believe you will see Wenger at the helm next season. It will be Wenger's decision, he has already stated that he would depart if he cant meet the expectations of the club, paving the way for his departure. Mourinho hass, as you say, fallen out at Real Madrid & has expressed his desire to return to London. He would be Usmanov's ideal candidate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is mancini doesnt win the league I will expect him to be sacked and mourinho replace him

Agree0 Disagree0

The source is an extremely reliable one. The same one that told me of Wenger's arrival and Sol Campbell's, before anyone knew.

Agree0 Disagree0

Am sorry but Mourinho would not be a suitable candidate...he always had his eye on the ManUtd job for starters...second : I fear people are looking at short term gratification instead of long term glory and stability...Mourinho is one that is not attached to any club..he loves a challenges and thats it...once he feels he is done and limited by external constraints he leaves...for those reasons Mourinho will not be ...
As for Dein coming back...that would be great however I think he has aspirations towards a more influential FIFA post...
THose clamouring for Wenger to leave...it may happen but you cant beat stability as a indicator to Glory ....

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh I think this is utter fantasy. I don't think Wenger is to blame for any of the problems we are facing - he brought us back in to contention to a top four place with a bitterly average squad along with underperforming players (Walcott, Arshavin) and people forget he has done all of this with not a single fullback and the fulcrum of our team (Wilshere) being out for the entire season. It makes you wonder if we had a full strength squad i.e Vermaelen, Wilshere, Van Persie it may have been a different story. Unfortunatley injuries may cost us not only champions league but our best players leaving AGAIN.

In Wenger We Trust - Keep the faith - and any other cliche you can think of.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt this is going to happen but to me this would be perfect for our club. Please be true

Essexgooner

Agree0 Disagree0

This is possible, at least 2 out of 3. Author of one of the many books on wenger, advised me many months ago that Kroenke was a business man first and foremost, and he expected to make his investment worthwhile when he sold at a profit. Usmanov is a possible buyer, Dein, fairly possible. He also said that this is wengers last season, hence Pat Rice staying on for one more year and that discussions had already taken place on the successor. Mourinho is only one of a very short, short list, though an estabished continental manager would definately be the choice. Watch this space should he be able to disclose anything more, I am as anxious as anyone else to see what is going to happen

Agree0 Disagree0

We wont pay any money for players, so what makes u think we'd pay 6 mil a year on a manager lol who will only manage a club 4 3 years max!

noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! {Ed001's Note -

Agree0 Disagree0

^^^^^^^i believe it's wenger not the club

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a load of tosh, that has come about from reports in Spain suggesting Mourinho will leave.
If Mourinho does leave they will go for Wenger i am sure. As an extremely intelliegent man, i can not believe Wenger would not be asking for signings right now. So either there is some secret business being done or Wenger is protecting the board. Wenger loves Arsenal, he must do because unlike a lot of his players he turned down Real Madrid and Barcelona. Lady Bracewell tell us what you know, us fans deserve it!

Agree0 Disagree0

If this was to be true,it would be the best news we have had for a long time, but not Mourinho please. If Usmanov and Dein were to come back,I'm sure they would want to keep AW.My heart says that I hope this is true, but my head says that Kronke won't give up his hold on the club.

Ed any chance renewing our interest in HONDA see he s valued between 8/12 million {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were very interested at one time but may have blown their chance of Honda last January when he was available for about £8M. During the mid-season in Russia, Wolfsburg and Juventus were interested in Honda but the player said he wanted to move to Spain and the 25M euro asking price put them off. Recent enquiries for the player have been from Lazio, PSG, Sevilla and Palermo but given the player has been out injured much of the time since September and I am not so sure CSKA will want to sell just yet unless they get a good price - which seems to be as close to 20M euros as they can muster. If he does move now then Lazio and PSG are the most likely options - but Lazio need to free up a non-EU quota slot and that has caused a delay. Thoughts about a move to Arsenal come up occasionally but I fear the chances of it happening have gone.}
