Hi Ed, you said before that arsenal will not be interested in Lemar because of price etc, is this still the case or has something changed?

{Ed002's Note - if the price drops and Oezil or Aubameyangadingdong are sold it makes sense.}

Thanks Ed, and are arsenal now open to selling Aubameyang or are they still hoping he signs a new deal?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal would like to keep him.}

Interesting reports that we are in for Thomas Lemar from Atletico Madrid at a reported £40m. Does that mean that Aubameyang will be going over the next 2 windows as his deal is below 2 years and it looks unlikely he will extend. Alternatively, Lacazette's deal will be down to 2 years this summer and he is struggling for form and goals. Another possibility is that he could provide an option wide left. However, I can't see us spending £40m without a sale to fund it.

I would rather us spend the 30m at CB to secure Mykola Matviyenko if i'm honest. It would need to be partially funded by a player sale though and I don't see that happening this month. Laca, Auba, Martinelli, Saka and Pepe are enough to see us through the remainder of the season. Nelson as well when he returns from injury.

Agreed Glen. Although we have big problems up top with contracts running down.
Our CB issues need addressing, as realistically next season we will have Luiz, Holding and Saliba.
Chambers will miss a section of next season as he recovers from injury and for me he isn’t good enough. Sokratis should be sold as he will have a year to go and I wouldn’t extend his deal.
Mustafi has to be sold. Mavrapanos has been sent away on loan, will he mature into a quality CB? Medley hasn’t impressed to date, but is still young.

Although I absolutely love Auba I think we should let him go if he wants a last shot at silverware. His value will be so much less in the summer. I'd like to take a chance with Thomas Lemar. A couple of years ago we were prepared to pay a club record for him and I can't believe he has lost the talent he had then. We should still have enough left over from Auba's sale to get Mykola in this window. Can't see our board doing all this in a week though 😉.

The danger of selling PEA is that he scores most of our goals. Lemar would be risky as he hasn’t made it at Atletico and perhaps he would struggle with the physicality of the PL, much as Pepe appears to be doing. I certainly wouldn’t sell him in this window unless we obtain a huge fee and spend it on bringing in a quality replacement, a creative midfield player and a much needed CB.
I am concerned that we will cash in on PEA now to bring in a CB and Lemar. So, reading between the lines, get £60m for PEA and sign Lemar and the Ukrainian CB. I suppose a forward line of Lemar, Lacazette and Pepe, with Martinelli and Nketiah maturing, wouldn’t be too bad.

I think a better option if both Laca and PEA don’t sign or at least don’t confirm in principle that they intend to, is involve Laca in a deal for Lemar if Arteta believes in Lemar that is and keep PEA til summer. I rate Laca tho he’s shy of goal form right now but PEA is captain and his goals is something we can’t afford to lose in Europe knock out stages. Either way, a CB should be our leading focus.
