Arsenal to look into the availability of Demba Ba from Chelsea and also make 17 million pound bid for Everton starlet Ross Barkley

Believable9 Unbelievable83

Barkley would have no time to play in the midfield arsenal posses

Agree3 Disagree1

Doubt we would break our transfer record for a teenager

Agree0 Disagree0

The scouts have been looking at Barkley, but that is as far it has got.

As for Ba, he'll asked for a move if Rooney signs, as Jose will keep Torres. I can't see AFC signing him though, although I wouldn't mind him in the squad. If nothing else, he'll keep Diaby company!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wake up dude. Striker Demba Ba?
I'd prefer we place £20Million for Chamakh. Its 6am! Wake up

Agree0 Disagree0

Even though he's not the type of midfielder we're obviously lacking, I'd love to see Barkley come in.

The only way it could happen is if we went very high, riskily high-25 mill minimum- with a bid, but that's unthinkable with the way we operate.

Might seem ridiculous to talk of such a high price, but why the hell would Everton sell a guy who looks like he could truly have everything (strength, skill, brilliant shooting and passing off either foot) if you were only offering a 'fair' price which took into consideration inexperience, the fact nothing's guaranteed, etc?

Sadly, recent history suggests we'd lose out (we sign the Championships best young talents) if serious about him, and, worse, that Manchester United will be the ones who get him. They tend to get the British players who are or are likely to become likely to become the best in their position- Keane, Ferdinand, Rooney, Jones- and boy-oh-boy that policy, even if costly, has been more than proven correct.

Update on Di maria. Arsenal are willing to match what RM want still, Manchester United are pushing more and more for a transfer. RM and arsenal settled on a value before Man United and other clubs were interested but now its getting more dicey.

The play and agent have been very silent on the preferred transfer location should he leave.

Believable30 Unbelievable41

And why would Manchester United come in for di maria? What about nani, young, welbeck, Valencia, kagawa, januzaj?

I can be sure they are not going to spend 30 odd million on a position they have covered.

Think more along the lines of fellaini, coentrao, baines

We don't have di maria or benzema in our sights, but if we offer good value its doable

Agree1 Disagree0

Wouldn't say united have that position covered when all their wingers are awful. Really really terrible

Agree2 Disagree1

Remember the bid for Higuan being accepted and then RM moved the goalposts. Get the cheque book out and get Mata here where he should have been in the first place.

Hey Ed

Diego, ohwayoo. he plays for Wolfsburg, he'll - well, nothing rhymes with Wolfsburg, but the Brazilian is a damn fine playmaker. The 28-year-old scored 10 goals and made 66 chances for his fellow Wolfe, resulting in seven assists. Diego completed 84% of his passes and won 68% of his duels, highlighting the fact that when he isn't creating, he can also get stuck in. With 43 tackles won and 124 fouls suffered, he is an important player to have stationed in the middle for tactical purposes, while completing 126 take-ons shows how dangerous he is with the ball at his feet for a prolonged period.

IS HE AVAILABLE? he's a Beast {Ed044's Note - From Ed02 on the Liverpool page: Atletico Madrid want him back but Diego is, for the first time, settled in to the Wolfsburg team with Magath out of the way. He comes with very significant baggage and would, in my view, be an entirely dumb move by BR. I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at this time. Lingering interest from Sporting Lisbon and Botofogo could attract him at some point.}

Apparently we've bid €30m for Di Maria. Any truth in this Ed's, and how much are Madrid asking for? {Ed044's Note - Again from Ed02: Di Maria was offered to PSG as part of a package with another Real Madrid player and he was at one point offered as bait for either Bale - but had no interest in a move to Spurs. If Real Madrid lose out on Bale they will move for Silva and include Di Maria in the deal, but that is now unlikely. His agent also approached both Manchester United and Chelsea and I am told that the player would not object to a move to Italy should the opportunity arise. A €20M offer for Di Maria from PSG was rejected. Arsenal approached Real Madrid about Di Maria and Benzema but Benzema is keen to stay at Real Madrid (although they would like to sell). There is a very real chance of an offer from Arsenal being made in the last week of the window, but it will need to be around €30M to be acceptable.}

Talk about Lazio trying to get Yilmaz and Gala is holding out for 15 million Euros. WHAT ARE WE DOING!

15 million euros for a proven striker.

you talk about bargains Wenger, put this one in the bag.

Eds, is Arsenal even looking at this player? any chance of this happening? {Ed044's Note - From Ed02 on another page and he says there is no interest from Arsenal at the moment: Before he left Trabzonspor for Galatasaray in the summer of 2012 Burak Yilmaz attracted interest from Sevilla, Spurs, Fulham, Dortmund, Beyer Leverkusen, Liverpool and Newcastle. Lazio and Lokomotiv Moscow spoke with the player in January after the clubs agreed that they would meet the asking price from Galatasaray - but that has now risen considerably with his performances in the latter half of the season, as Chelsea were recently informed. Atletico Madrid has dropped what interest they had and Fiorentina seem to be stepping back from their tentative enquiries. Liverpool enquired after his availability and cost in mid August but it has now transpired are not in a position to push ahead with their interest. Talks with Napoli failed to reach an agreement over price and personal terms. Galatasaray has now recognised that they will not get the expected return if they sell the player but have rejected a low bid from Lazio whose real interest seems to be still with PSV's Matavz. Representatives of one club still remain in discussion with Galatasaray but he is not their preferred target.}

Interest in Suarez will start to happen again if we win on agregate against fenerbache for the champions league group stage, but depends on whether he chooses to stay at Liverpool or deeply in his heart want that champions league football

Believable15 Unbelievable77

That ship has sailed my friend. he will stay or if RM come in could go to them if the price is right and LFC find a replacement.

Agree5 Disagree1

Even though Wenger said in an interview there is absolutely no chance we will sign him?

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Aug 2013 13:11:19
In no way am I saying we will sign Suarez because the majority of things say that we won't but you must take what Arsene says with a pinch of salt he never gives anything away and didn't he say we weren't in for Podolski and he didn't know who Cazorla was he's got a very secretive persona you won't get anything out of him. Anyway that's just my opinion hopefully we get some quality additions and make a real go of it this season COYG!

tenuous I know but I wonder who has been talking to Jonathan Pearce (BBC, MOTD commentator)

He has just said on MOTD, 'arsenal have major transfer developments imminent, I am told. '

later he said, 'expect arsenal to make another bid for Cabaye'.

Believable53 Unbelievable23

What he said was "the funds are not as much as people say". Now who's telling lies?.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he defiantly said ''arsenal have major transfer developments imminent, I am told. ''

a web site reporting that Cabaye refused to play for Newcastle today

Believable42 Unbelievable8

Some managers of ill repute (in the real world) will tell players anything to sign on the dotted line, when they are called on it they hide behind the club badge and bad mouth others to protect their "integrity". Cabaye will be a gunner and only 2 years too late.

Have had this rumour for a few days, it's not a real Madrid player were chasing, this one will come off, we are chasing a Spain international, the media info is wrong, there will be 2 signings Wed/third then 2 on deadline day. Sorry haven't been given any names but source is journo friend/goober. I guessing torres. But nothing to confirm this just a guess, sorry can't be more forthcoming guys but what I've heard

Believable10 Unbelievable41

So it could be casillas, xabi alonso, could even be arbeloa which would be rubbish. in all honesty it will suprise me if we do any business with real madrid this summer.
