We are not the best team in the league by any stretch of the imagination but we do not help ourselves by not playing to our strengths. When playing with attacking full backs the two centre backs are exposed numerous times during the match and playing Mikel Arteta as a holding midfielder on his own the situation won't change. We need to play with two holding midfielders so when the fullbacks push on the defence won't be left over exposed. All of our recent success has came playing this system like Viera and Petit and Viera and Gilberto, bottom line is this is a proven system and we should revert back to it. Even though Arsene and his £145 000 per week are too stubborn to change their system. This problem was highlighted yesterday against Schalke especially on the left.
Another problem with our system is that Gervinho is playing upfront where he clearly is inept as he can't finish nor hold the ball up and were playing Podolski who is clearly a forward on the left of midfield where his lacksadasical attitude means he refuses to defend and support the full backs. Ramsey is played on the right where in his case he does not have the attacking instincts. All of our favoured forward three who should be out main source of goals are all played out of position.
Also I have noticed that a few players like Ramsey for example are playing a bit too safe and not taking risks and gambling. This is also shown where were always looking for the perfect defence splitting pass where sometimes the position means its better off to shoot. The only player who does shoot is Cazorla and as we saw at West Ham it can be extremely effective.
Finally I don't think Wenger should leave but I think he needs to buck his ideas up. I don't really want to go on about the finincial situation but that £145 000 that he gets a week could have gone towards a contract for Van Persie. It's funny how he is the only person at the club whose wage exceeds his own wage bracket. I hope I didn't go on.

You lost me when you said Podolski does not help out defensively. You need to watch the games we play in.

First of I don't agree with Wenger saying CL qualification is more important then FA Cup, I believe it sends out a wrong message to the players & most importantly us the supporters. Secondly I totally disagree with the people on here who say Wenger is tactically inept, I mean that's just stupid to say. Barcelona went 8years without winning anything mind you, so just stop bitching for a change & support the team.

Barcelona went 8 years without winning anything, then went crazy. They started by beating US in the Champions League, and keep winning the Spanish cups and their leagues. They are also on of if not the best team in the world. They have the calibre needed to sign people such as FABREGAS, and keep hold of their best players.
Now if you believe that after 7 years of not winning anything, Arsenal fans should still have faith in our broken system, because Barcelona had the same issue for 8 years then let me ask you. In 2 seasons time do you believe we will win the Champions League, then go on a winning spree.
The answer is no.

I cannot believe Wenger places the champions league higher than winning one of the cups his deluded. if Van persie had won silverware even if we were not in the champs league he would have stayed. if you offerered me champions league football or winning atrophy every season, i would have a trophy. as this is what this great club of ours is based on winning honors. you can tell how great a club is by its trophies and winning trophies is paramount. players will always join a club that is winning silverware wether it is in champs league or not. IF that what Mr Wenger thinks then it is time for him to go and we get a manager who wants to win silverware first. Just think how get it would be getting to cup finals every year and winning trophies again. we need at least 4 players to compete for all the trophies, but we won't get that under wenger. WENGER OUT OUT OUT

On the stands it shows the year and picture of the trophy won, I haven't seen any for qualifying for champions league.

Here here! Wenger and his deluded workmates need to take a permanent holiday and get someone in who's sights are a bit higher than Le Flapping Penguin

I can understand your missgivings in regards to wengers statement. But what he says is true, neither of those cups generates players wages or brings players to Arsenal. This is proven by players going to play for chelsea instead of man city.

Just looked over my shoulder on the tube and saw a copy of The Sun saying 'Arsene says that Champions League place IS trophy'. Lie. Arsene says that the Champions League takes priority over the FA and League Cup.
Would you rather have had Liverpools or our season last season. I agree with Arsene. Possibly we might have kept Van Persie if we had got the FA Cup but would we have got any of our current signings? I doubt and in some cases know it.
If we miss Champions League football it's even harder to get back in.
In Arsene I Trust.

Hi Eds, i was just wondering what the latest is on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, yes i know i have match of the day fever i have been diagnosed by my local gp lol, but he has been mentioned on here before. any change? thanks

I think a lot of people are eyeing this issue, but almost none are voicing it. Wilshere is back and Wenger will seem to be happy with his midfield availability, but Mkhitaryan is a reasonable target from my point of view. He's got pace and good attacking mentality, something Ramsey desperately lacks. If Arsenal sign him, they won't be disappointed. He'll offer much more than what Arsenal will pay for him

At the AGM meeting tomorrow questions have got to be asked as to why our cheapest season ticket is the leagues most expensive, in fact it's more expensive than Manchester United and Manchester City's most expensive. We also have most expensive match day ticket at £126, it's an absolute joke. RVP's decision to join United a club that matched his ambitions also needs to be addressed and yet again so does our transfer policy and wage structure. Wish there was something we as fans could do but while tickets keep getting sold and, we keep turning a profit nothing will change.

This explains why we have the quietest stadium in the league... People who can afford to go aren't the most hardcore fans there. Seriously I never know when we are playing at home unless i see the introduction at the start.

I can answer that question for you if we want to stay near the top of the league we have to maximise our resources Manutd have a bigger stadium and therefore have the best match day revenue we are second and City done even own there stadium so they dont care.

I will not attempt to defend the prices charged, but I guess being based in the Capital as opposed to "Up North" will automatically make everything more expensive, we should be unhappy at the difference between our prices and all other London based teams

To the first responder why do you have to be skint to be a hardcore fan.
