Arsenal to buy Kaka for 26 mil. Plus a possible extra 5 mil. This move to be completed on Thursday. Madrid have agreed with the fee. Kaka is currently talking about personal terms. Medical to be on weds.

Believable10 Unbelievable18

Transfer window closes on wednesday so wat are you saying?

Agree0 Disagree0

Completed on thursday?, after the transfer window?

Agree0 Disagree0

Madrid want 50mil for him only team to show a interest is ac Milan

Agree0 Disagree0

Transfer window shuts on Wednesday??

Agree0 Disagree0

Source? buying or loan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well thats strange cos the market closes on wednesday.

Agree0 Disagree0

26m + 5m addons is a robbery

i wouldn't sign him for 15m

Agree0 Disagree0

Well now this post just about has it right. Chances of Arsenal signing Kaka on Thursday are as strong as our chances of signing him and sadly Hazard by the real deadline - zero.

Agree0 Disagree0

They would take 17.5 mil anywhere you look

Agree0 Disagree0

His available for 17

I can confirm that the reason bolton rejected the offer of 6m pound for cahill was because it was signed by Ivan Gazidis and no one takes him seriously.
Ike.

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Or it was rejected because it was a starting bid?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha thanks for making me laugh :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Or it was a joke and you should get a sense of humour

arsenal to get
Mbia or M'villa
R.Albiol
Gourcuff
Sow
Elia or Hazard

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Wish but we wont buy all of them before wensday. I expect 3 signing at most

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we get our hopes up wenger does not buy polished players he likes to do that himself and within 2 years our kids will have us challenging again keep the faith and ride the storm

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep the faith and ride the storm - in two years if Gervinho is a real talent he will be off to City, and even Van Persie must have got fed up by the annual Arsenal talent fire sale by then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Akhm.. excuse me, Wenger DID buy POLISHED players: Szczesny, Fabianski (:

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2011 20:33:05
why are looking to waste 30m on hazard..another winger.. we have arshavin, walcott, gervinho, miyaichi, chamberlain

we need

LB - Baines or Cissoko
CB - Cahill or Vertognen
CM - Goetze or Lucho or M'villa
ST - Benzema or higuain or Hulk

Believable12 Unbelievable10

Hazard can be Attacking mid/ playmaker not just winger

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard is one of the very best young players IN THE WORLD. would be a HUUUUUUUUGE signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he is awesome

Agree0 Disagree0

If you think that 30 mill for hazard is a waste then you are deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

Well maybe because hazard is about 50 times better than all of our wingers put together, miyaichi will be amazing in years to come, but apart from that gervinho and hazard played together at lille so they will be good together, plus he plays the sort of football that suits arsenal perfectly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines is good but too expensive due to being English and the high demand for left backs (really odd there are so few good left backs in the world isn't it?).

Cissokho has dropped off the map. He hasn't matured into the player everyone thought he was going to be when he made a name for himself 2 years ago.

Cahill or Vertonghen is believable. Cahill is more likely even though Vertonghen would be better since he can play so many different positions.

Gotze.....everyone needs to realize this.....getting this guy is about as likely as getting Messi. it isn't going to happen. he loves his club and his country and he won't leave either. he is an incredible talent and would cost a huge sum of money now. even if we forked it over, he wouldn't leave. he'll be at Dortmund for another couple seasons then maybe go to Bayern.

Benzema or Higuain - Madrid won't sell either. what other strikers do they have? Jose Callejon? Wenger is a huge admirer of Benzema but Benzema wants to prove himself at Madrid. regardless, Madrid will not sell either unless they buy another world class striker immediately (won't happen).

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin, walcott, gervinho, miyaichi, chamberlain can not do what eden hazard can. This lad is only 20 and is only going to get better. Its just raw talent, thats like saying why waste money on messi when we already have (your text here)

Agree0 Disagree0

Would it be logical to assume that if Benzema or Kaka has a flounder of a first half of the season that either player could be bought cheaply through the January window?

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol hulk is a winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard plays in EVERY SINGLE POSITION from the middle and beyond...
One of the best players in the world right now.
ABSOLUTELY SUITS ARSENAL right now..
30 mill is not to much for this talent
A MUST SIGNING
PERIOD.

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way AOC said that he was initialy a attacking midfielder but wa puton the flang till he matures and toughens up a little.

Agree0 Disagree0

Newspapers in spain have been saying that arsenal are planing to buy kaka and benzema for 38 mil. Which includes bedneter going out there on a seasons loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we need a playmaker to fill nasri and fabbie void. A thought tho, drop Gervinho back to CAM, he can beat people like no other, and well able to pass the ball (highest assist in ligue one last year). Not a proven goal scorer but in that position he might contribute, 9/10 like Nasri anf Fabregas did. Ramsey is good but im doubtful if he'l ever become the great hope he was billed as

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we still need goals and apart from walcott none of the above can guarantee them

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey guys,
I believe Hazard is major talent.
Can play all across the middle.
Will be our main strike force....
Creative. A fericous shot. Quick.

Plus he is dubbed to follow Thierry's shoes and switch to striker.

So this boy has some serious meat when it comes to attacking.

Wenger wont limit him to just a winger.
It's Arsene Wenger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously mate, have you seen Hazard play? He is in a different league too Arshavin I say, SIGN HIM UP NOW a bargain at 25mil if he has another good season with Lille and he will then next season you will see Mans**tster City paying 50mil for him he is that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

U mad waste 30mil he is a serious player amazing player an attacking midfielder plays anywhere across midfield he will be sick

Arsenal will sign Cahill this weekend. Reports suggest a deal is close to being struck with personal terms and a medical to be completed tomorrow.

Cahill will join up with his team mates on Monday after the Utd game.

Mike

Believable16 Unbelievable8

No we wont sign Cahill Wenger has according to rumours Bolton ca keep him as says they lied about the offer made and will not return with another offer for him.

does anyone know why szczesny does not wear the number 1 shirt ?

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Not sure, he properly as an emotional link with that number

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard its because he didnt want to :s

Agree0 Disagree0

Fricking love this kid already, acts like Bendtner but backs it up consistently

about some Damn time we got some bollocks in this squad

Frims and Szczes, all swagger Prem team already

PMc

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we are signing derotzet from the Ukrane

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably just a sign of respect to Almunia. Arsenal can't sell him because nobody wants him. i heard a 2nd league Spanish club offered a sack of potatoes for him but the bid was rejected because the potatoes had mold on them (we still should have accepted the bid in my opinion).

Szczesny is the clear number 1 but Wenger didn't take the jersey away from Almunia out of respect. Plus Szczesny is only 21. Starting next summer, he'll wear the Arsenal #1 for 15 years so whatever if he doesn't get it until next summer.

~Mad Jens

Agree0 Disagree0

So added pressure is not put on the young lad. This fella is quality

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely it's because Almunia has it. Ok fine, Gervinho took 27, but there were takers for Eboue and nobody really expected him to stay. But to take Almunia's number one shirt and give it to Szczesny would be a real kick in the teeth because there is no move on the cards for him. Even though he must already know that nobody is going to displace Wojciech, and is now third/fourth choice after Fabianski and Mannone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its Almunia no., When he leaves Sezza will take it

Agree0 Disagree0

Because arsenal are looking for some french decent keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Its because alumia still owns number 1,until he leaves it will stay the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because wenger didn't want to put too much pressure on him given him top goalie number, keeps him more grounded

Agree0 Disagree0

He chose the number

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree PMc, Chesney is superb. Long time since i felt as much confidence in an Arsenal goalie, he could be the one Lol
K1ck

Agree0 Disagree0

Squad numbers dont mean a thing he cound be number 52 and our number 1 keeper for the next 12 years , get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he just likes the number 13

Agree0 Disagree0

He is wierd, I saw a video of Djourou giving out award mugs, Szczesny won a couple and just seems a little bizzare.

No passion, no nasri, no fab, alarm bells anyone? lmfao.

Heirich

Believable6 Unbelievable19

Not really ....no??

Agree0 Disagree0

None for me.

Have faith. Remember Utd also have a crisis at the back. It is very realistic to expect a big scoring match. 2-2, 3-3.

We lose at OT every year pretty much, so anything but a loss would be great.

Arsenal fans still need to check their expectations, you were all told how life was going to be after the move to Emirates and it will be like this for at least another season.

I can really see now why Fab and Nasri made comments regarding the supporters. I've recently noticed that most of our fans our greedy bandwagoners (I bandwagoned, but have realistic expectations) from the Invincible era. There will never be ANY team like that again, maybe Barca (but you can argue that La Liga is a joke of a "league" now, it is only El Clasico that matters). Also remember that Utd had some really tough times with Fergie, and he was given the chance to rebuild, fortunately he had cash.

In Arsene we trust, Hope the bandwagoners rust

PMc

Agree0 Disagree0

Alarm bells? they aren't ringing and only will if Wenger doesn't make some solid purchases before the window closes.

yes, it is too bad we lost Cesc and Nasri but no passion? Cesc constantly wanted to leave (we should have sold him a year ago) and Nasri only cares about himself.

young fiery players like Szczesny, Wilshere, and Frimpong have emerged while Vermaelen and RvP (both leaders) are healthy. this team is more passionate then before. the atmosphere around the team is no longer plagued by the worry of losing players (Cesc and Nasri). expectations for this season are low so the players will fight extra hard to prove themselves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plenty of passion in midweek in Italy and in the champions league with players like Vermaelen, Sceszny, Walcott, RVP, Gervinho, Sagna, Ramsey etc etc.....so no not really.

Agree0 Disagree0

YEAH

they are ringing loud and clear

Been told that Arsenal will look to sign Gary Cahill for 10 million plus Miquel on loan but has Per Mertesacker as his reserve, Marvin Martin for 12m + add-ons, Lucho Gonzalez on loan with a view for permanent deal if Kaka does not join, Eden Hazard for 27 million is unlikely so Arsenal will probably go back in for Andre Ayew and are still looking to sign a striker and names that have been mentioned are Zarate, Barrios, Lavezzi, Cardozo and ageing hitman Diego Milito.
Top Gooner.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

With Marseille being one of our CL group opponents, it seems unlikely to me that they will sell one of their best players to us.

every transfer in or out is a complete fluff up at Arsenal. Who knows what the Cahill thing is all about but all I do know is that we look stupid again, and again and again and again

GAZIDIS IS AS MUCH USE AS A CHOCOLATE SUNHAT

Always a pantomime never slick a total joke

Believable16 Unbelievable10

If you look at ssn wenger said that offer was incorrect....maybe its a downpayment of 6m....appearances...x amount....england caps x amount....champions league qualification x amount...league champs...x amount........thats a good deal if the incentives are meet.....17m is too much for a player on hes last year of contract......would you buy a flat for top dollar if it had 3 years left on the lease......what does piss me off about Arsenal, is how any one cant allow bentner a 52k a week contract......thats why we still have him ....

Agree0 Disagree0

The poster is exactly right I would not trust Gazidis to buy 2lb of sugar from Tescos..he has`nt got a scooby..send for the chuckle brothers.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chuckle brothers... Exactly my point, a rolling sausage gathers no gravy Mr Gazidis

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol @ chocolate sun hat

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree chocolate sunhat is a good one. i normally use a 'as good/much use as a chocolate teapot'.

Another good one from World Cup '98:

' The defence is about as useful as a rusty collander'

GunnerOxley

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate we act like fools , 6 mill with add onns for cahill is a joke, he may not be top top draw but hes a good lad knows the prem well and is a 4 star defender unlike what we already have apart from of course TV

we need to get our act together and quick were so close to being a top team thats play beauitful football which dont happen often

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2011 18:14:11
Wenger for the love of god just go and buy Hazard, M'vila and Vertoghnen or Cahill and then we are good to go.

Btw he said he we are after a striker, why not go and get Diego Milito from Inter the guy is quality and could do a job for us.

Believable18 Unbelievable11

Yes Milito would be great. i would also like seedorf i think dixin said it at the end of last season. he would also be great but i have faith in wenger, most of the names being mentioned will definatly improve our squad (partly because we sold our best two players of last season)

Agree0 Disagree0

If we need a striker he'll by a striker

Wenger said he watched the Sevilla - HSV game... Maybe he wants a player from one of these 2 clubs.

treba

Believable6 Unbelievable11

My guess would be Gokhan Tore from hamburg, 19 year old attacking mid/winger. A typical Wenger signing.

J

Agree0 Disagree0

He only just signed for hamburg.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jesus Navas - We have looked at him before ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its probably Elia, SSN reporting that we interested in him. Not the worst player but we could do better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh god i hope not he bought squillaci from seville

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he should spend more time on buying hazard

Agree0 Disagree0

"he just signed for hamburg"... can i remind you that Falcao just signed an extension with Porto just to leave some weeks later for Atletico Madrid?

Gokhan Tore just signed from chelsea to hamburg this summer window...

It looks like a deal for Hazard is near and that he should be an Arsenal player before the end of the window. I was informed yesterday that Ivan Gazidis would not attend the Champions League draw in Monaco but would be in France trying to recruit new signings. If you want the truth this could be a number of players but in my opinion the most likely one would have to be M'vila as Arsenal were discussing with Lille officials yesterday via the telephone and will either meet them today or tomorrow and hopefully finalise a deal on Monday.
I can also guarantee that no new players will be arriving before Monday as Arsene wants his squad to concentrate on the United game. Also if Arsenal announce a new signing on Monday it could make a likely defeat against United a thing of the past.
Finally the Cahill bid was more than 6 million as it had Bendtner as an add on this is why Wenger is adamant that Bendtner will be leaving but do not be surprised if Hazard is considered the striker that Wenger is talking about although Arsenal are considering another 3 unknown options.
I believe from what my sources have told me Hazard, M'vila, Cahill and unknown Striker will conclude Arsenals spending but expect 2 done before deadline day at least
BOS

Believable10 Unbelievable17

Yann M'Vila plays for Rennes, not Lille. Hazard and Sow play for Lille.

Agree0 Disagree0

You also can have my girlfriend for a night if you are..'the most likely one would have to be M'vila as Arsenal were discussing with Lille officials ' wait, what?

J

Agree0 Disagree0

I think signing a player before a game could provide even more of a boost. why not sign someone today and then do the rest next week? many of the players that have been interviewed would like signings. put them at ease at a bit so they can further focus on the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope so. Ill be loving it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger has hinted he is trying hard to strenghen the squad but he has been saying the same thing for 2 or 3 weeks. And he also said there is a chance there will be no signings. What are fans to believe

Agree0 Disagree0

No they are saying that gazidis is most likly talking to rennes about m'villa in france becuase arsenal are talking to lille via the phone. Read it first before you post stupid comments BTW i hope this is true

Agree0 Disagree0

We will not spend 30 million ever and he only way we are going is backward

Got it from a very good source this morning that Nic Bendtner has been offered to Bolton in part exchange for Gary Cahill.Apparently Bolton are interested in Bendtner, the stumbling block at the moment is they want to know the extent of his injury before committing to the deal.Bolton are also trying to get a defender in on loan first. This is from a good source in Colney.

Arsenal have made an enquiry for Hamburg Winger, Eljero Elia.

Source: Sky Sports News

Believable25 Unbelievable7

Why another winger when we are clearly lacking creativity from the center of the pitch

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player, be brilliant if it comes off...

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh good. I know little of this player. We could have him, Oxbow-Lake, Arsharvin and Theo across the "middle" except that they'd be tripping over each others laces out on the wings. Just what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow look at the haters again. we need another winger as we lost nasri. if we get m'vila then that'll be our player in the centre and hazard will be either theo's replacement on the wing when he moves up to striker or will become anbother striker. then cahill in defence and we're sorted. stop hating

Agree0 Disagree0

M'Vila is not a creative mid, he'd come in as either competition for Song or to allow Wilshere to play further forward when everyone is fit, so that would not solve our issues in the middle. Hazard does not have the physicality or skills to play as a CF. While he can play as a winger he's just as effective playing in behind a central striker which would help us greatly as RVP has looked isolated a lot in these opening games. Gervinho is clearly Nasri's replacement and will be starting for us on the wings. Arsene's plan was to have Nasri as a central creator, a role which now needs filling as Ramsey is not ready and Rosicky cannot be relied upon. Not being excited about every player we are linked to is not hating. I am not second guessing Wenger's judgement here, I am just skeptical of the validity of a link to another winger when we've signed 2 already this summer and Ryo's been granted a work permit.

Agree0 Disagree0

arsenal are going to make a shock bid for robben. whether hes going to join or not, thats another story, but arsenal are deffo going to make a bid for him, remember you heard it here first.

Believable9 Unbelievable30

He is CL cup tied now so we have no chance of sighning him u moron

Agree0 Disagree0

We're pretty well covered on the wings. Not what we need. Fantastic player, but too selfish (which can be good sometimes, but with him I think it ruins more scoring chances than it creates). Also, he clearly does not get along with RVP as he and Sneijder seem to never notice he's on the pitch for Holland.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robben is a self confessed arsenal fan, i remember seeing a pic of him when he was at chelsea in his bedroom covered in arsenal posters

Source: www.footballpress.net(Reliable source)

Believable23 Unbelievable34

Ed do you know if there is any truth in this thanks Rainham Gunner

{Ed022's Note - Unfortunately this is another website who is reporting this alleged 30m euros offer that has apparently been made. As for him arriving tonight? Its unlikely.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If Hazard arrives as an arsenal player tonight i will run round stony stratford naked for 15mins

SSgooner

{Ed022's Note - Oi! Thats my reply not yours!!}

Agree0 Disagree0

HOPE this is true

Agree0 Disagree0

Ill believe it when I see him on the official site holding a shirt. Sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will not run naked but I will go to the arsenal united game with a mega phone stand outside the armoury and shout "we actually spent some money" whilst wearing a hazard shirt. Likelyhood of this materialising 30%

Agree0 Disagree0

I want this to happen, but how is this a reliable source? no quotes from sources, nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

After the departures of Fabregas and Nasri, today Arsene Wenger will receive a new player. Is almost ended the purchase of Eden Hazard, who will arrive from Lille for 30 million euros. In the evening could arrive the permit of the French club to the transfer.

From the above source, chances are very unlikely. but who knows.

Sorry will not happen

According to SSN, wenger has said the bid for cahill was more than £6 mil.... And i believe this. Wenger isn't stupid, bolton need money and they are going to squeeze every penny out of us.

Believable31 Unbelievable4

Unbelievable Jeff

{Ed022's Note - Ahhh good old Chris Kamara. The same man who came out with gems such as:

"It really is an amazing result; 0-0 at half time."

"The atmosphere here is thick and fast."

"They've one man to thank for that goal, Alan Shearer. And they've also got to thank referee Alan Wilkie."

"It's real end-to-end stuff, but unfortunately it's all up at Forest's end."

The man will forever be a linguistic legend...}

Agree0 Disagree0

We will get Cahill for 12 - 15 million I reckon. Id also like us to get Yann M Vila for 20 million and then Leighton Baines for 15 - 18 million, leaving us with enough money to buy an attacking midfielder like Mmm for 12 millionish. I love my dreams I might stay there in future. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

The initial fee offered was just 6m, but Arsenal offered more in add-on clauses. So AW is technically telling the truth as Arsenal did offer more than 6m. But the initial fee 'upfront' was just 6m and it was laughed at. Bolton want at least double that amount upfront plus add-ons.

{Ed022's Note - It seems unlikely anyone will join us before midnight...}

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Forgive me for reading into this too much but the way you chose to say "before midnight", does that indicate that there may be a signing tomorrow?

{Ed022's Note - You are forgiven. Midnight tonight is the deadline to sign players so that they are eligible to play against Man Utd which was the original question.}

6 million for a player in his last year of contract is a fair bid

Arab gooner

Believable23 Unbelievable12

No its not, prime example -- 22-25 for nasri... so lets be honest.. it was not good enough.. simple

{Ed022's Note - Whatever the bid made it clearly wasn't good enough as it hasn't been accepted! Either way, expect another bid...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Never compare a normal clubs bid to what City or Chelsea pay - they make their own rules.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would be foolish if we went in with an opening bid of 50M, nothing wrong with starting low

{Ed022's Note - Its like chatting up a lady. You might try a line, you might buy her a drink. Possibly dinner on a first date. You don't throw engagement rings and keys to a house at her... Softly softly approach. Hey, on the plus side at least we don't have 5 days left of the transfer window to woo Cahill and Bolton...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Clichy 7m last year so using nasri as a example is just stupid he isnt worth more than 10m and we would be silly to pay more than that for a alright player who hasnt played at top level when we can get a player twice as good from overseas that has CL exp for the same money

Agree0 Disagree0

To the post above, we need a premier league defender who knows what he is doing [Cahill] and maybe cheap CL experienced player [mertesacker] or instead of mertesacker, samba.

10mill + miquel on loan will get Cahill. coyle wants players as he knows that he WONT get all the money from a sale

then will come Marvin Martin, the less expensive and a lot less prima donna version of hazard

paul - rochester

Believable28 Unbelievable9

Sounds like a good deal..just wish it would be done so cahill could play on sunday, otherwise see it being a cricket score to man utd

{Ed022's Note - There is no way a deal will be done by midnight to make him eligible for Sunday's game. We can barely get a deal together let alone a medical and personal terms.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy if that happened
Miquel with much needed first team experiance

Agree0 Disagree0

Cahill will not happen in time for Sunday's game. I reckon It will be last day saga again on this one. Bolton are trying to hold out for the full 17Mill but They will have to cave in eventually and we will get him for 10-12Mill plus a loanee the other way. Bolton will be foolish to not to accept with him being on the last year. Clubs like Bolton need the odd big money sale here and there to keep going financially.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like wenger isnt gonna give up on hazard and m'vila both would be great signing but on their own we may still lack depth to the squad.

i dont think six mil is a cheeky bid, he's only worth about 8 in my opinion but we wont get him for less then 10-12 just cuz he is english. would much prefer us to go for jan vertonghen. very much like vermaelan and you cant have to many players like him now can ya

Believable23 Unbelievable6

We Need More Depth In Defence And With Cahill We Will Get That A Big Strong Holding Defender And Tv5 Will Be The More Agile One Somewhat Like Spain's Pique And Puyol

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Cahill is worth 10m tops and that would be while is on a long contract. Only 1 season to go, I'd rather wait until Jan and get him free next season..

{Ed022's Note - Waiting til his contract runs out in June? You don't think other clubs will be sniffing around to blow us out the water with signing on fees and exorbitant wages??}

Agree0 Disagree0

What utter clowns - as a neutral supporter I have no interest in either arsenal or bolton. The guy is rated one of the best centre halves in the premiership - rated about 15 mill. Arsenal can't defend for toffee - If you want someone that badly, you pay the going rate. Simples

Its hypocrisy
For goodness sake get the money out and buy the quality players that we all know that we need.

Underground Gooner.

Believable28 Unbelievable14

A) Cahill has 1 year left on his contract (and can be arranged for free in Jan) whereas Fabregas was tied down till 2014

b) the 6m fee was upfront (with about 5+m in addons) making the fee about 10m whihc is more than reasonable

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is it derisory or hypocrisy last year of contract no real european experience and in last year of contract clichy went for the same money more experience you muppett

Agree0 Disagree0

Look Cahill is a very good defender.

BUT he aint a regular international and has no High class European football experience. AND Has one year left on his contract

you telling me he is worth more than TV5 who we paid about 12mill for? and he was captain of his team id rather have 17mill spent on that ajax defender than pay that for Cahill, who we do need though :(

jay

Believable23 Unbelievable5

Jay, this is a great post I 100% agree with you, Cahill is worth 12 mill tops to me

Agree0 Disagree0

That maybe true...but when you wait till the end of the window prices go up...and yes we can get him for 6 mill also because he is on the last year of his contract and can sign for us on a free in jan.

But i think to wrap it up...just make it 10 and thats the defense covered and on to the midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but how do u think Cahill will feel Arsenal going in with 6mil. Oh is that all they think im worth well they can sod off then.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think cahill was there first choice cb..

Agree0 Disagree0

With regards to cahill thinking were undervaluing him... Should fab have thought the same, if you reali want me then pay the money.

He isn't worth the figures being mentioned, fair enough he's English and age is in his side, still don't see him as anymore than a squad player for England, 10 mil all day

Italian goon

Agree0 Disagree0

Squad Player For England?? Are You High The Only Thing Stopping Cahill From Being A Regular in The England Squad Is Two Of The Best English Defenders Of Our Generation

Agree0 Disagree0

No I don't expect us to pony up 17 million, I do expect us to make a sensible offer (10 million ish) so we can actually begin negotiations - after all its not as if we have a lot of time left, and we have been dithering all summer. This should never have been left until the last few days of the window - we needed it done early so Bolton can arrange replacement, and we could get him playing preseason.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not high, jones will get a lot of games for united this season and will be in the England team even if it's down to media pressure, Terry still has years in him and is a top top cb, by the time he hangs his boots up, jones and smalling will be united and England first choice cb pairing

Seems like bolton were offended by the offer of 7m. he's not worth 17m on his final year. Arsenal better put in a decent bid tho

Rob

Believable21 Unbelievable5

It's just a little test-the-water bid.. maybe Jagielka will ask to be transfer listed, if so AW will be back in for him; otherwise we'll get cahill, probably final day, probably in the region of 9m-13m as has been my prediction since we made that silly 12m offer for jagielka a few weeks back...
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

He should try and sign both of those players

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

also we are now favourites to sign papis demba cisse, has a brilliant goal scoring record in the bundesliga, plays for a mid table team and is the fox in the box striker we would need (13.5m by the way).

colney bandit

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Agree0 Disagree0

Fox in the box striker...Good record.... Skills..

I think that we need a powerhouse striker like a lukaku, drogba, Benzema etc.
(not saying we will get any of these just the type of player)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cisse is an excellent striker - he's not just a fox in the box- he's more like jimmy floyd hasselbank - powerful runner, powerful shot, with the likes of rvp/gervinho and potentially hazard he'll be prolific; honestly, he's built to play for Arsenal

Come on Arsenal, don't be so tight.Put an offer in for Cahill that Bolton can't refuse. We are running out of time, not just the transfer window, but we have the Utd game on Sunday as well.we have missed out on so many players because of penny pinching. When Wenger first came to Arsenal he brought in the players he needed, but now it looks like he has his hands tied by the powers above.Unfortunately you have to pay the going rate these days,if you want the best, and this is what we have to do.Ticket prices have gone up and we are selling our best players,so they can't say they haven't got the cash,COME ON,START SPENDING

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Its to late now we have no targets that will make an impact like nasri and cesc unless hes putting a surprise bid for a world midfeilder [in my dreams]

Wenger feels that he isnt better than Koscielney so I dont think he will put in a much higher bid. Expect a maximum bid of around 10-12m if we bid again

Agree0 Disagree0

7m is far too much he is only worth 5m and is in last year of his contract. We should offer Squillaci on loan and 5m. If not accepted buy him in Jan for 4m or sign him for free in Summer 12. Believable14 Unbelievable5

As annoying as it is, 6m is closer to his real value than 17m in the last year of his contract. i think it is just an opening bid to negotiate up to 10-12m. anything more than that would be a rip off.

what really annoys me is that we would waste time bidding for someone whose asking price we will never meet. why not spend 10-15m on vertonghen? he is as good and more versatile than cahill and ajax wont demand as much. bafflement.

£7m pound bid for Cahill, absolute insult of an offer

Believable13 Unbelievable13

This is all a bit of a game really. Maybe the board or Arsene don't want to buy and by offering small money can then say, well we made bids but no one would sell. Not our fault because we made bids. A ludicrous situation. To be honest I don't think anyone will be bought. The board will look at the CL money as a bonus and bank it. When we had Dein around deals would just get done. It's getting beyond a joke now

Romford Gunner.

Agree0 Disagree0

7 mill for a player in the last year of his contact isnt too bad of an offer. It equates to 135k a week, not bad for a CB who they can easily replace with Wheater on the bench

LR

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you all think that this offfer is such an insult? Cahill is NOT a 17m player. He is in the last year of his contract and has no European experience. Clichy is in a near identical bracket to Cahill; a defender who is touted as "world class" but isn't really, has one year left and needs to be moved on. Given the Clichy deal was 7m I think AFC's opening bid is quite reasonable...

I can confirm that Arsenal and Bolton have agreed terms for Cahill in the region of £12million.

I can also confirm that Everton are considering a £12m pound bid for Baines.

Arsenal have offered Madrid £15 for Kaka, which Real are set to refuse.

Finally, Arsenal are going to make an approach TODAY for Eden Hazard.

None of these players will be in before Sunday though.

Believable32 Unbelievable7

I am gutted Vieria was a Legend for us... but money Talks and can you imagine the wage he is on at City for doing next to nothing? He would never get that at Arsenal. Shame, can only really see king Thierry coming back and having a role at the club in the future

Gooner Bill

Agree0 Disagree0

A little, but at the end of the day he's an employee of City, he's doing his job and has to have their best interest in mind. I'd have been annoyed if he was working for us and advised a player to go elsewhere.

We should have given him a role at Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget Dennis Bergkamp

{Ed022's Note - DB10 is and always will be a legend. Can definitely see him coming back to Arsenal in some capacity...}

Maybe Bergkamp too Gooner Bill.
Anyway Vieira was just doing his job. Arsenal should have had better cop on and brought vieira back themselves.

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Viera played for us for years and was our captain and lead us us to sucess
hes played for manchester city 2 years plying about 10 games and now he is an ambassador for them it shows anyone will do anything for more money

Agree0 Disagree0

The Viera thing is just another dig from Nasri to deflect the hatred away from him. He should man up and admit he's a football "person" who went just for the money. All these little digs about fans, passion and ambition are to make us think he's not just a greedy little shi...when quite clearly he is. Can't wait for his return to the Emirates...

{Ed022's Note - The word I replaced with "person" sounds like door...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah a bit of a back stabber the same as Ian Wright did by encouraging SWP to join chelsea some years back saying they had better prospects

{Ed022's Note - Yeah and look how that turned out??}

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately in this world...money talks and the rest walks. Not much loyalty left in football apart from players like Daniel De Rossi..

To be honest even when Viera was with us he struggled on many occasions to get the pay rise he wanted (and deserved at arsenal) at his peak. He was apparantly one of the people who advised Cashley Cole to ask for more money at AFC. But he understood our board were seriously tight

As an arsenal fan and I have a lot of time for Owen coyle I think he is a fantastic manager and they have to deal with arsenal f***ing them around with Gary Cahill. Now Bolton have rejected a bid for him from arsenal for £6m which I think is absolutely f***ing disgraceful by arsenal we complain about barcelona but we are so much worse, you see players like Phil jones going for £18m and 19 and Gary cahill in my view, is a lot better yes maybe in the last year of his contract but he will sign another one, I think it is disgraceful what arsenal are offering and it is one of the reasons why I don't think we will sign anyone that is 3x less than Boltons reasonable valuation. I feel sorry for Bolton and Gary Cahill who has probably been hoping for this deal to materialise but if I where him I would be majorly pissed off. I don't like the way arsenal do their business the majority of the time beacuse (in my eyes) the selling club has the player under contract therefore the buying club must respect their valuation whatever it maybe if they want him to join their team they will pay the money. Clearly with Gary and Bolton this is not the case I am absoultely appalled. Eds, please I would love to hear your view and anyone else's view on this?

Thank you

Couldn't agree more mate 60 mil in the pocket and we offer 6 for one of the best cb's in the country who's ENGLISH And still farerly young but massively experienced in the prem Discracful

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey calm down we do not know what Arsenal have bid. Owen wants to create a bidding war for his player, there is no other reason to announce that we have bid for the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever bought a car in your life, did you ever pay what they asked fror it withought haggling , if you did you are a mug. Id be surprised if 6 million was the actual bid, but saying that this is part of the bidding process. Why do you feel sorry for Coyle and Bolton, same thing happens about this time of the year. All they have to do is say no if they dont accept the bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel you are absolutely right that a 6 or 7 million pound bid is disgraceful and that as a club we should try and practice what we preach However I don't believe the full extent of the bid has been outlined and I wouldn't be surprised if the bid included either the sale of a player like Bendtner or the loan of Miquel etc plus add ons. Whilst I appreciate the other seems extraordinarly low I do not believe Wenger would have made such a ridiculous offer, considering the close relationship him and Owen Coyle have and the gratitude he holds for nurturing players such as Wilshere. I reckon a bid for Cahill will soon be accepted by Bolton. Lets see...

Agree0 Disagree0

I know where you're coming from but will you be moaning if we get him on the cheap? Bring in him and samba in my opinion and splash out about 12M each??

Agree0 Disagree0

RPL:

Agree0 Disagree0

I think arsenal are just testing the waters, see what they can get away with- frustarting for us, but its just business. I expect arsenal will up their bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger ..STOP Wasting time and get at least 3 players in...PAY a decent fee for Cahill..around 12mil. We go to UTD on Sunday with our weakest team ever

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the same thing as Barcelona at all
a) Cahill has not said "I will only go to Arsenal"
b) We have not been drip feeding the press with stories about how unhappy Cahill is being made to stay at Bolton
c) Cahill does not have 4 years of a recently signed contract still to run - so it's much more like the Nasri case.
d) So who else is competing with us to drive the price up? United and City have done their business and concrete 'Pool interest seems to be a figment of the media's imagination.
e) Remember that Cahill's price is what we pay Bolton PLUS 5 years wages to him
For the sake of missing 1 game (which we are likely to lose anyway) I'd rather we kept sufficient funds for a top mf and strike

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely Spot On. Arsenal need a wholesale change of policy in regard to buying players, I hope Gary Cahill becomes an England legend with Bolton

Agree0 Disagree0

Total agreement with the original post, Arsenal is utterly hypocritical in the transfer market

Agree0 Disagree0

We sold Glichy for 7mn and I dont think 6mn is offensive...

{Ed022's Note - Yeah but Clichy is a pile of sh...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, I completely agree with you. We are the first to moan about Barca's offers for Fabregas, but with 60M in the kitty from 2 world class sales, it is pityful to offer 7/8M for Cahill (whatever it was but it was around that mark). At least 10/12M should have been offered as a starting point. It's like viewing a property for 500k and putting in an offer with vendor for 220k Ridiculous. 2 further points, Bolton bought Cahill for 5M and he is at least 4 times the player he was then, and secondly, if Arsenal think he is only worth 7M, is any centre back good enough for a team challenging for champ league at that price? To offer so low, is almost an insult to the player "we don't think you are anything special right now, but we can make you good". Arsenal are the Ebeneezer Poundland of world football, charge the most, only purchase at bargain basement sale prices. Total joke. If I was the Arsenal manager and Cahill was a possibility, I would pay whatever the cost, and rip your arm off to get him, considering how badly we need him. We always concede the most goals in the top 4, conceded the most at set pieces last season in the Premiership Wenger get off your ass and bring Cahill to Arsenal and give the fans something back for heavens sake Then Hazard, then Benema.

Please stop putting up all these supposed signings, as i have said before there will be no more new additions.Wenger won't spend, it's him not the board . Theres money there so theres no excuses.

Believable9 Unbelievable11

If he wont spend why are their bids being put in

{Ed022's Note - If I put an offer of a 100 on a house it doesn't mean I will buy it and I can definitely guarantee it will be rejected.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't this a rumuor site... If you dont want to read about possible signings, just go to arsenal.com.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea don't be so totalitarian, let some of us optimistic gooners dream

Agree0 Disagree0

He will make signings before the close of the window- stop being so cynical and as others have said, why bother coming here ? Its for rumours...? try this website 'wenger won't spend its not fair.com'

Agree0 Disagree0

Optomistic? was at the start of the window when all the stories coming out of the club were of spending, and remedying problems. No Longer, stupid bids, dithering, pennypinching when we have money, buying more inexperieinced kids (sorry AOC you were an expensive gamble) - and no I don't beleive Wenger has his hands tied by the board either

If reports in the Mirror are true (prob not) Arsenal have made a stupidly low offer of £6M for Cahill, IMO why bother, Bolton will just tell you where to go. We got £24M for Nasri in the last year of his contract so why don't they make a sensible offer to Bolton for £14M for Cahill, at least they may have a chance, that would leave the board a nice tidy £10M to buy more property and cigars with. It seems as though we are just making low bids to please the fans demands for signings, when really i don't think Wenger wants to sign anybody and will once again have complete faith in the squad he has, which to everyone outside looking in is clearly not good enough this year

SSN have just confirmed Bolton have rejected a bid from us for Cahill

Yes, why does Aw always offer so little,
when he knows other teams like man city & L'pool are after him too.

ARSENAL: Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Chelsea star Florent Malouda, who has rejected a move to Juventus in order to try and stay in the Premier League. The Frenchman's £120,000-a-week wages are the sticking point. (The Times)

what do you think ed and fans

Believable5 Unbelievable18

Be a great signing and would possibly be better than zarate.I would have him and he knows how to play premier league football as we have all seen what he can do.Wenger bid now.

I woudl welcome it... Good signing and cheap.

Top player. Wages will be the sticking point although win bonuses will be critical. This will be an 11th hour deal if we go for it

Now as nasri and fab gone wenger needs to get his flippin wallet out

the thing that annoys me is that wenger must have known for weeks that fab and nas would go, yet hes waited till the last few days of the transfer window to go for a replacement

Believable4 Unbelievable5

the only reason nasri played well against liverpool was cos he was playin for himself he was doin no work so wen he got on the ball he had lots of energy to go past players

Arsenal have officially bid for kaka sources from goal.com suggest, as you can see Arsene is willing to spend and spend big thus it also suggests that he might also tempt to sign Sneijder from inter as he is unsettled there and van persie could also be an influential figure to tempt him at ARSENAL...

IN ARSENE WE TRUST

Love to believe this was true......

So how are we playing this weekend without a holding midfielder?

Diaby injured and Song and frimpong on reds, wilshere injured.

We have gervinho suspended.

I think the deadline is today if we are to have any players for the game on sunday.

So are we playing squillachi as a holding player? or almunia as a striker?

I dont get wenger....its two days now and no news? only some fail loan attemp and a cheeky bid for cahill? atleast 10 mill..wtf is 6 mill? this is the EPL.

Believable15 Unbelievable2

I think one of TV5 or Djourou could play DCM. I would expect Rambo to be there though

Mong Out

Agree0 Disagree0

JD will play DM and Koss and TV5 in the middle Rambo and Thomas as MC with Persie, Walcott and Ryo up front :)

{Ed022's Note - Apparently AOC has been "ripping it up in training.." according to a friend of mine who works down there. Don't be surprised if he makes his debut either as sub or from the start...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I heard Djourou was a DM all through his earlier years, up until first team or reserves, so maybe he'll play DM. I reckon perhaps Dj and Ramsey at DM with Rosicky clearing up in the middle/CAM role.

Arsenal to loan Armand Traore QPR
Surely means we are signing either a LB or CB with TV as cover for LB. I would prefer baines or cissoko with vertonghen aswell.

Believable5 Unbelievable5

We'd have to As Arsene would put it (we are a little short already).

Agree0 Disagree0

Why does AW make such a stupid offer for Cahil, it's laughable.

about one year ago there was an article about Hazard on arsenal.com (if you remember). i can't imagine Wenger lost interest in him over that period of time. I do really expect that one to happen.

Believable6 Unbelievable7

Don't think the issue is that Wenger doesn't have an interest. The problem is that Lille are not in a position to have to sell as Hazard seems happy to stay and has several years to run on his contract. They could easily hold onto him for at least this year and if he does well in Ligue 1 again and in his first CL experience, they could demand a huge fee next summer. I'd absolutely love it if we pulled this one off but for those reasons I'm not too optimistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

He did the same for nasri

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed. The interest for Hazard has been there for over more than 1,5 year. He became player of the year in ligue 1 France, so I think they still are interested. But does Arsene really need him, with the incoming transfers of Chamberlain and Campell and Ryo?

My Prediction:-

Kaka on LOAN - AW won't risk buying and tieing him down for 4-5 years when theres always a chance of him not succeeding in the EPL

Martin/Ayew - Defo should buy Ayew...he's already Mr Ghana at 21 years old....Awesome Attacker as well as Tackler

M'Vila - Could be the new Viera

No full back will be bought

Cahill will be the CB we buy as Mertesacker is staying in Germany Happy with Cahill tbh

Hazard - think every Gooner wants this guy to be our drive in Attack

There won't be any new targets now, not enough time....we need to focus on signing some of these players

PLEASE WENGER JUST BID aka "SPEND"

according to this, Eden hazard has agreed to sign with Arsenal

www.mercato365.com/infos-clubs/lille/lille-hazard-d-accord-avec-arsenal-735447.shtml

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Wow i just read it also. i woke up my wife to translate it i cant believe it. now lets see its official

Agree0 Disagree0

It dont say a deal is done it says:

As we let you hear before, Arsenal has a proposal of thirty million euros for the Belgian international striker Eden Hazard (20), whose contract expires in June 2015, but without success. A new proposal of thirty-five million is in the pipes.
Reportedly, the Red Devil has already set in agreement with the Gunners on the conditions of a future lease. Anxiety is palpable on the side of the club president Michel Seydoux.

Agree0 Disagree0

No it doesnt, my computer translated the page as this.

Arsenal sent in vain an offer of thirty million euros for the striker Eden Hazard Lille has already agreed with the Gunners. A new proposal of thirty-five million is approaching.

..
so i guess we havent agreed. sorry

Agree0 Disagree0

Well my French is not brilliant but accordding to that report (and what i understood of it) Is that Arsenal made a bid of 30 million euros for Eden Hazard who is under contract untill june 2015 but lille are looking fo aronund the 35 million Euro mark before they will sell him.

If that is true then im really surprised that AW made a bid so high as that for him (doubt it was that high) as this is not AW style to come in so high and i very much doubt he would pay 35 mill euros on 1 player.

In my dream world i would love for this to happen i've admired Hazards att style for a long time. In the real world, I really dont see it happening.

Go Asene prove me wrong

Haha forget what i posted it seems someone who knows peoper french and not just bits has beaten me to it and can read the whole thing thx for translation

Google translate does not translate it well...
according to this article it with a human translator it says that both sides will possibly agree on 35M euros , while hazard has agreed already term wise

Agree0 Disagree0

Might be true but either way he will do what fabregas and nasri have done and use you as a stepping stone, the kid dreams of playing for real madrid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lille said no more players will be sold, not a reliable site

Metro r not very reliable so I wouldnt hold your breath

Agree0 Disagree0

It seems arsenal have improved their offer from 30mil euros, which was rejected to 35million euros...

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here;

does this mean that we're negotiating a signing for the FUTURE ? as in when his contract expires ?
i'm hoping the 35mill euro will clinch the deal for Hazard

a top four finish with a young team will be acceptable by the board...may b we will win the carling cup or FA cup...but its about time the arsenal board show some respect to our great club and let wenger spend a few millions...

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Well Said Enough is enough. We need to target league title, champions league title, FA cup and carling cup......not just be involved in all and be happy year on year with 3rd - 4th spot and CL qualification.
The board only care about money coming in and a "sustainable" business model...but you cant have that without investing in the TEAM
