RVP doesnt want to discuss extending his contract. Wilshire is out for 5 months. You are all sitting here talking about who we will sign in january, and how we should not assess our position until the end of the season and if you do you are not an arsenal fan and should support city etc etc.
As long as our team is reliant upon 2-3 key players we will never progress because as we have seen there will always be injuries and suspensions.
We need a better quality of team and not just a couple of players surrounded by a collection of potential teenagers.
RVP will follow cesc if this is not addresses and jack wont be far behind.

I like city's new away shirt too :P
maybe switching wouldnt be that painful, i mean they have toure, nasri, clichy and viera there :)

I agree,if we look back to the earlier Wenger years(the Invincables),there was not one bad player, but now you look at todays team, and to be honest, the players you have mentioned are the only real great players we have.I think AW's plan was when the new stadium was built, that he could help pay off the debt,by selling top class players(also property on the Highbury site) and replace them with promising younger players coming through.Unfortunately not many of the youngsters have made the mark, but we still keep selling our best players nevertheless, and we all know that the best players won't join a team who keep selling, they want to see good players coming in,not going out.It makes me sad to see the team the way they are now.

Go on then! **** off! You would be doing all of us a favor - would no longer have to listen to constant stream oh it's not like to old days. Seriously get real! The premier league has turned into formula 1, an arms race, where money is the single most important factor. What has been happening is a product of that, not the fact Wenger has somehow suddenly lost his marbles. We have been damn close a couple of times since the invincibles. Christ, we were the only team who actually could play toe to toe with barca last year. Have some faith, it will come good.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop with all the bashing...its not like your a genius who knows all and we cant see it. Yes our season is compromised and our squad is thin, but the season has started and we have to support even almunia if need be...i can imagine how many will turn up here to bash wenger if we loose to the spuds...i for one will keep supporting my team...not much i can do i dont work for arsenal, or have any significant influence to make a difference...you wanna shout go outside the emirates and protest, not sit quietly on your laptop or pc and verbally disgust the other arsenal fans who are trying to be optimistic with whatever we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your an idiot. RvP will never leave same as wilshere. They love the arsenal. go support spurs you scumbag, then you can moan all season

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of you lot are mental! Honestly just listen to the abuse you give some people - 'scumbag' ! In y day a scumbag was someone who goes around mugging people and other such behaviour, not someone who goes on an arsenal rumour site and leaves a perfectly honest and possibly entirely correct statement about our club. The poster clearly feels that our squad is weak aside from a handful of key players - that is not necessarily wrong. RvP is leaving - that is also more than likely. I doubt very much whether AW will magically simply persuade him to stay. He certainly won't adjust the wages and he won't make decent signings so you can kiss goodbye to thos theories, so why should RvP stay? yes we've been close a bunch of times but that isn't good enough, He is nearing the latter stages of his career and I am sure he would like to lift a league title somewhere and lift a few cups before he retires. Fact is we do NOT show the ambition in terms of wages or transfers. The whole world says it. Not just a few 'scumbag' fans. So get real and give this person a break, there is logic o what they are saying even if you don't like what they are saying. And unless we have a Stevey G in Wilshere then one day we will leave too. I am going to copy and paste this thread and when RvP leaves in Jan or this summer you will all feel like pr!cks for the abuse you give people on here when I post it back on.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the angry replies are not down to any lack in logic in the original post of what might happen, just the fact that people seem to want to focus of the negative possibilities rather than positive ones. celebrate the bad rather than the good. Football is in large part a game of chance unless you can tip the balance with a infinite checkbook. What is the point about bemoaning all the stuff that is in large part out of the clubs control? It just creates a bad atmosphere which can be just as damaging to the team as anything else.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes a stronger squad all round is required, but no team in the world has world class players in every position even Barcelona, there is just not that many to go around.

I would say RVP and arguably Vermealean our are only true world class players that could grace any team. Despite all what they have spent have Man City got a 1st. 11 of world class players, no way far from it.

I still believe we are only 3 key players away from a really strong squad namely a CB, DM and a proper menacing box playing CF.

People forget that although we have not won nothing for 6 years there have been some very fine margins involved and we have had been hamstrung in all of the recent seasons with lengthy injuries to all our top/key players at one point or another. When is that last time we were able to put out our true best 11?.

Time is starting to go against us now and I believe this is a key season for us which may tip the balance either way. As to weather we can attract top players and keep the likes of RVP at the Club, or weather we will lose them before the fair play rules come in and our debt is paid off. Once the rules come in and debt is paid off we will revert back to competing in the Transfer market at the top level (A Man City style squad of every player on 150-200K week wages will no longer exist). The question is can we keep our core players until that time.

We have been fighting a unethical monopoly carefree spending by City, Chelsea, at to some extend Barcelona and Madrid without fear of penalty for making massive losses each year. Hopefully the fair play rules will get them operating as a viable businesses making regular profit eventually but this may take a good few years take effect.

Our total wage bill is likely not much behind Man Utd's so we can compete with them to an extend in terms of wages offered. However, we do need to
re-structure our wages and lower the wages given to fringe, 2nd string and youth players and up the wage bracket for our top players. This will make it easier to sell the likes of Denilson (Also stop these fringe players getting into a comfort zone) and keep hold of our key players.

I think we need to go all out to win one of domestic cups this season we need to get a strong winning mentality back within the squad and ofcourse get that top 4 place which we can still very much get. I think in general it is less about talent more about about mentality(Win at all cost) and desire with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy that said we were the only team to play toe to toe with barca last year...get real...just cuz we won 2-1...dont you remember how they dominated us in that first half? they should have been up 3-0 in the first half and if we played barca 10 times i would put money on us bareley winnning only 1 / 10 times...toe to toe would suggest we'd win 5/10 times...so wake up and stop living in denial....support your team but be realistic too!

I find it hard to believe that people are having a go at this poster- what he's saying makes sense...its called reality... I cannot find anything he said that isn't...?

Instead of just slating him, contradict what he said, I would be interested to read your argument.

his post in summary:

*RVP doesnt want to discuss extending his contract- erm...true, another player we will lose, if the club doesn't handle it properly.
* Wilshire is out for 5 months- true.
* As long as our team is reliant upon 2-3 key players we will never progress because as we have seen there will always be injuries and suspensions- true.
* We need a better quality of team and not just a couple of players surrounded by a collection of potential teenagers- true.
* RVP will follow cesc if this is not addresses and jack won't be far behind-

True...I can see RVP going, if things don't change...jack I think will take longer, but this could happen as well- I remember when John Cross was in asia for the pre-season and talking in on the radio, he said when he spoke with jack he said that he hopes the club strengthens the squad with some quality signings this summer... John Cross speculated that if Jack was saying this already...at some point in the future if things don't turn around at arsenal, he could see him leaving- he added, can you imagine a young player at man u, however talented, talking about 'strengthening the squad' and that fergie would hang him for that.

I think the main point of what this guy is saying , is that we should wake up at what is happening with our club- NOT that he wants these players to leave...it's just a very real chance of it happening and everyone would be back here and elsewhere moaning when it does and when it's too late.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks a well thought out post. Those people hurling insults at you just seem illogical to me. Why on earth someone would call you a scumbag is beyond me, or why a REAL and LOYAL supporter is not alllowed doubt is equally beyond me.

I support Arsenal and have for over 35 years now, all my life, and go I have my doubts right now. Yes I have seen worse - but not much. Djorrou, Traore (yes I know he's gone now), Kosielny, and Arshavin have all put in such bad performances this year as to rate among the worst I have ever seen from an Arsenal player. I am not convinced at all by the signings, in Germany people see Mertersacker as beginning a decline, Benayoun hasn't played a proper game for over a year, and Arteta (good player though he is) isn't quite the payer he was two years ago. Gervinho may be a good signing but needs time and I fear we don't have that any more at Arsenal, not like when Pires joined and took 6 months plus to become great.

And yes, the sender is entirely right we have very few world class players - I do rate Sagna highly, Vermailen is great but seems to be injured much more than playing, RVP is world class but again will be injured for quite some time as he always is, and Wilshere will not be a major influence this season because of injuries.

After that you have the inconsistant and still with a lot to prove Ramsey, the good but not great defending Song, and of course Sczceny who will keep improving and shows a lot of promise.

There will be no marquee signings for the same reason there haven't been any in many years. One we can't and will not pay the wages and two no hope of silverware.

I am not giving up hope here but suspect the golden years are in the past for a while now. As ever we will need to find a new way and it will take time, as ever I will support Arsenal but cannot help but think it all could have been avoided by better management this summer.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that RVP is leaving when you see his comments regarding a new contract. And he will be followed by other notable names over the next two years. This will push us further down the pecking order as the players cannot see any success on the horizon. A new manager and board is the only way to turn it around. It is just a case of how bad it gets before SK loses interest.
Big G

Believable18 Unbelievable13

If people actually read his interview you'll see it is not like he's saying he won't sign a new contract. he's said with all the games etc there hasnt been many opportunities for discussion on contracts. he has said he doesnt want to sign anything untill the club is sorted with wages etc and doesnt want to upset anyone else at the club. he'll stay for sure. if he does go it'll be no-one in the EPL.

Van persie wont bail...but if arsenal do buy players he will stay if not he wont...but it looks like arsenal are ready to spend...we have the kids we need a few positions and we are set. we may have had a bad start but before dec rolls around we should be top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is becomming increasingly difficult to negotiate deals to extend players contracts. Van Persie & his agent know that as his contract shortens Arsenal will become more desperate & increase the offer, failing which he can obtain a better deal elsewhere. The best thing is to sell him, before his contractgets too short & re-invest in a quality replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger shouldve signed a world class striker this summer past so as to lessen the impact of losing him - not some crap t-shirt seller from Korea; another shortcoming from Wenger....
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

I know mate, wtf didn't we sign Kagawa or Honda if they wanted to sell shirts? Also the fact that the club has pretty well come out and said straight up that after signing Park our commercial prospects are budding in SK is absolutely despicable. I also really think we have done the player a huge injustice because he will be on the bench or not even that all the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kroenke is not a football man. He is merely an investor hoping for a decent return on his dosh. He is not mega-rich, he has married into the Wal-Mart family but his wife is not one of the mega-rich sisters either. Sure she has a couple of billion dollars but is not on a par with Sheikh Mansour or Abramovich. Usmanov, on the other hand is actually wealthier than Abramovich (but not the Sheikh) and has long advocated spending money to really strengthen the squad and compete with Citeh, Chelski, Man Utd etc. Thus far he has been thwarted in these ambitions by the rest of the board and Kroenke. Not sure how much of a footballing man Alisher personally is but he has David Dein in his camp and we all know he bleeds Arsenal. We need to somehow get Usmanov and Dein in control of the club and the forward strategy. Wenger would be the right man with Dein back in the fold. If not we need to accept that resources will be meagre for the foreseeable and kick Arsene upstairs so he can guide someone else like Dragan Stoikovich or Denis Bergkamp.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Usmanov said that he offered to put 100m into the transfer and wage kitty and it was turned down by Gazidis. Usmanov then said why would he want to be on a board that involved that mindset?

Agree0 Disagree0

And I could not blame him. Surely though he is able to make enough current board members 'offers they could hardly refuse' such as to gain effective control seeing as Red and White already have a 25-30% holding. Dein as a frontman/mouthpiece to replace Gazidis (waste of space he is) and Robert is very much your mother'e brother!

Agree0 Disagree0

He has 2 years left, so lets come back to this in 12 months

Agree0 Disagree0

No he enters his last year in the summer mate, like Nasri did this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Red and White need just over 1% more stock before they can make a formal takeover offer as Kroenke did. Pay the Yank off with a decent profit for his 62% and then get down to the business of restoring our great club back to it's rightful place. Arsenal have always been the top club in English football despite a period of sustained success from the Johnny come lately's from up north. People seem to forget that Man Utd. and Liverpool were 2nd Division outfits for many years before the 1960's. If Sir Alex had not taken the job wen he did United would have been back there long ago. Usmanov and Dein is the answer. Within 5 years of the Yanks leaving we would be polishing the Champions League trophy in Highbury House and the best players in the world would be flocking to the Emirates no probs.

city gonna offer 35 million in january for rvp
if we take the money we sign mvilla 20 million and we sign higuain for the money left from fabregas and nasri and then we sign marvin for 15 and bobs ur teepot but id still rather keep vanpersie and just buy mvilla
sussex gooner

Believable14 Unbelievable16

Problem is we never buy after any big name leaves we downscale and trouser the profit we have not spent our fund we had in june + all the sale values.

talk of sell van persie and buy higuian, m'vila will be a major departure from approach (we do not buy big £ names) and execution (we fail to close deals on big names e.g. mata, hazard, cahill)

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt city will buy another striker, maybe a mid.

Ashish

Agree0 Disagree0

If in the unlikely event that City were to buy RVP in January,do you really think that the the names you mention would come to Arsenal in that case?

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of the people that post on here are deluded. If wenger didnt sign mvila or higuain or cahill et al - in the summer, when he said he was gonna spend and buy big - why is he gonna do it in january? Get a grip of yourselves.

RVP will leave arsenal im fairly sure of it, and i'l be sad when he leaves, but not for long.
