ed,im watching the ssn special report and there saying there is a high court ruling in the next couple of weeks about when you buy a player your no longer going to be able to pay in installments that the way things are going you will have to guarantee that you can pay for that player befor deal is done.
there saying this will effect the prices and wages the players will get
dave.w {Ed002's Note - To a certain extent that is already the case. They do not want to see another Portsmouth situation. Typically deals will be completed in the months fter purchase.}

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17180296 tells you all you need to know about AFC at the moment! It's even in the business section of BBC not the football section! What a joke!

Believable9 Unbelievable1

When man u, chelski and man c announced their losses/profits it was there...

Agree0 Disagree0

Belongs in the Business section, doesn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Am baffled by how one can complain that a club is in good financial health...

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not the origional poster but just cos we beat the spuds it dont mean nothing i was raging at the profits we made why buy 29 year old arteta on deadline day knowing how much money is in the bank wenger knew cesc and nasri were off so why not bring in someone like hamsik or just anyone who will last more than 2 seasons 5mil plus his wage per season you dropped an econmics ball here arsene still as long as shareholders make money from our misery eh.

Must ask one thing we have all this chat of a sustainable business model bla bla, which we all know is nonsense anyway, but how can the club sit there and say that we can afford to cope without champs league?

That's at least 25m of revenue we don't get a sniff at, and that doesn't even mention all the money from tickets for games.

Are they all asleep?

Believable19 Unbelievable1

If they make a 5 year plan they plan financially to not reach the CL 2 of 5 years. Same for fa and cc cup they plan they reach quarter final for example and everything beyond that is profit.

1st Step...COMPLETE! YES YES YES!

2nd Step...beat Liverpool (who should be very tired after the Mickey Mouse Cup Final and celebrations lol)... Spuds get chinned by the scum then there's only 4 points in it!

COME ON!

3rd WILL be ours! Then the rebuilding can begin post-season.

Arsenal Have Just Announced Their Interim Accounts For The Six Months Up To The End Of November, Below Are The Key Points From The Results Of Our Accounts:

Group profit before tax was £49.5 million (2010 - loss of £6.1 million)

Profit on sale of player registrations amounted to £63.0 million (2010 - £4.0 million)

£74.7 million of investment in new players and extended contracts pushed amortisation charges up to £17.3 million (2010 - £10.1 million)

The resulting profit from player trading was £46.1 million (2010 - loss of £5.9 million)

Turnover from football rose to £113.5 million (2010 - £97.6 million) with increases from match-day (four additional games played) and commercial income streams

Operating profits (before depreciation and player trading) from football increased to £15.2 million (2010 - £9.4 million)

Period of minimal activity, as expected, in the property business with turnover of £3.2 million (2010 - £22.5 million) and operating profits of £0.5 million (2010 - £3.3 million)

Group has no short-term debt and continues to have a solid financial platform from cash reserves of £115.2 million (2010 - £110.4 million)

Believable15 Unbelievable2

Major key point:

The £49.5m pretax profit is actually the player outgoings cash, IE Cesc & Nasri money which has already been spent by the club during the summer on Mertesacker, Santos, AOC etc. Beware of the conman Gazidas.

summer

Giroud-20m
Goetze-32 m
Podolski-10 m(contract about to end)/Honda 12m

What are your thoughts?

Believable14 Unbelievable7

We dont need giroud and podolski, podolski for me is the cheaper and better option, Goetze yes, hondo def a no, not good enough in my opinion! we need a left back and a new centre half, also i would sell walcott if possible and try and sign Hazard

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski will cost more then giroud and dont think giroud will b as high as 20m. We will only go for both if RVP leaves imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Podolski will cost less than giroud as his contract is almost up, Hes 26 an a much better player than Giroud, im getting a bit sick of french players aswell, they dont have the best of mentalitys when losing a game, If RVP goes to real, only if they give us Benzema in the opposite direction!! Also if you had Goetze in there....think we have an oppurtunity with Rosicky possilby going back to dortmund to get this boy aswell, Goetze and podolski linking up with RVp, with Ox Chamber , Walcott still there, also i wish we would sell Gervhinio he is not good enough for arsenal full stop

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Giroud is a good option. Podolski will not want to be on the bench.

Giroud will cost 12 mln which is in our price range. for some reason - I see Podolski going to Italy. I feel like a team like Roma would suit him.

As for Gotze, I still struggle to believe he will move. He is young and has plenty more to do at BVB - a club who are matching his ambitions.

Sagna talking about Hazard: "Tottenham move would be a misstake. I follow the French league and he is a fantastic player. It would have been a very good buy of Arsenal but it is up to several people where he ends up. He has to analyze and choose club after their style of play. If he goes to Spurs he will be my enemy."

Does anyone else love that Sagna describes spurs consistantly as 'the enemy'. Nothing but love for that kid.

Giroud, sessegnon, hazard, M'Vila these will be our signings they wil cost about 56m, but we will get nearly 40 back in sales. steve Bould to come in as coach to tighten things up at back. Also heard D. Bergkamp coming back as youth coach.

Believable7 Unbelievable23

Buddy, hazard will be 30m alone, M'villa 15-20, if you can get Giroud and Sessengnon for 11m, then hats off to you!

Agree0 Disagree0

Crazy as a coconut. As the last post suggests - Giroud would cost circa £12m, Sessegnon £12m, Hazard £30m, and M'Villa £24m. A total cost of at least £78m!
Hazard is not coming to Arsenal, never was and never will.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh sorry this does seem a bit far fetched. To be fair I only think your wrong about Hazard and your use of the word signings. Perhaps 'targets' would be more apt. I think we could do a lot worse than Sessegnon and if we get M'vila that would be massive. Real sign of intent.

In Arsene I Trust.

Just saw Ivan's interview...
At the start he said everything i wanted to hear, then towards the end he started going back to the old Ivan, the stingy Ivan.

He's what i call a showbag (full of s**t).

He may say they wan't success, but at the end of the day, they want money. They want to continue Wengers way of spending little and making big, taking risks on unknown players.

That is a good philosophy, but you also need to invest a bit more if you want to push for titles, we don't need 30 + mil signings, just a few 10-20 mil quality players and we would be good to go.

If we included players in swap deals for Hazard then i think we could get him. Lille are not as big a club as us so our bench/deadwood would be better than some of the players over there. 28 mil plus Diaby and Bendtner should be enough to persuade them. They get two good quality players for their team and a nice sum of 28 mil to go with it. The cash value of that deal would equate to 40 mil plus.
I know its unlikely but we need to find a balance, not man city style, but not stingy Ivan style. Manchester united have a good balance, a few 10-30 mil signings and there done, in and out. We dont need 50 mil unproven kids.

Nick.

Believable13 Unbelievable8

I like the idea but will never happen. I'm not saying we can't afford the transfer but it's the clubs refusal to spend big on wages that will prevent marquee signings such as hazard, m'villa, and players of that stature.

Giroud making smalls comments hinting he is keen on a move to Arsenal. Definately seems like a Wenger buy.

Believable19 Unbelievable4

Yes said he wants to sign for arsenal if he is to leave

I said about Giroud in December and everyone said I was chatting biscuit and that he was rubbish. Strange how things work out eh.......

Awesome game that was, great comeback!

Let's hope Wenger will make a decent big signing in the summer (For once -_-.. I still have 100% respect for him though)

What are your thoughts on Hazard, Kagawa etc etc? Would Arsenal or Lille/Dortmund really make these deals or are we just being a bit too hopefull here?

Also I think the squad (The whole club) needs more english or british clubs, for a number of reasons. What are your thoughts on that?

Believable16 Unbelievable1

The idea of having more brits just is not a must! just like the next england coach should not be chosen just because he is from england! arsenal needs winners and if those winners are brits then well and good!! and they arent many of them out there!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah was a great game. My respect for bale went out the window though!

Hazard is a definate move this summer. As his contracts coming to a end, Lille will want to cash in. Wether he comes to us is a different matter though. Rosicky in last few games I thought could be close to scoring, looks like his confidence is up.

Who to sign though. Left back for sure. Gibbs is doing ok and will get there but need someone more experienced. Also someone to help RVP.
Who though is the question?

Need rid of the deadwood first.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard seems very unlikely...and if we bought him, he would probably take up most of our transfer budget.
Could get Podolski, Dempsey and Baines for same money it would cost for Hazard

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem with Brits is that they are well over priced look at the likes of Henderson, Downing or Johnson you would easily have to pay 20m for any of these when you could proberly pick up a cheaper alternative abroad Reus for example 16m werent it ? or Mata world cup winner 26m, stuart Downing 20m dont add up and dont give me all this about premier league experience you could easily argue cabaye is better than henderson and he cost a fraction of the price and is new to this league
dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Dan. In a general sense you read alot of people on here getting quite worked up about how this or that player would save our team. Not just against the idea that buying british is required, but whilst we're on the theme it seems to me that all the british targets we're 'linked' to have been underwhelming this season. Cahill at chelsea is the best example of this (we'd have paid over £10 million in the summer, for a worse defender than Kos, Verm, Mert. Possibly not much better than Djourou in my opinion), but others are A. Young, P. Jones, J. Barton. Yesterday showed that even a player having a well respected great season like Parker might not have been a savior for Arsenal's midfield (by the way, our mid was the best i've seen them this season, and what a time to bring it all together against Redknapp's over hyped, diving spuds team! so fluid in defence and attack, organised, and great to see so many players getting into the box!). Some players we've had a clamouring to buy are obviously good of course, and would have done a job, or even been great, but are they always worth the money?

Personally I feel the player that is most shouted about, but the least needed is Demba Ba. He's scored some goals for an efficient Newcastle team/we need another striker/therefore he must be brilliant! He couldn't play for us though! We aren't coached to be organised and disciplined like Newcastle or Stoke. Money talks, and these teams rely on getting the maximum out of their resources for as little risk. playing for Arsenal isn't about doing nothing for 89 mins, but scoring one of the couple of chances you get. we've shipped out Arshavin because he'd become this kind of player, and we were so great yesterday because each player had the quality and technique to hold possession, remaining positive and involving the whole team.

it's become debatable why exactly we don't spend money on talent. Mata was a player who would without doubt have been brilliant for us, and i don't think we missed out because he was percieved over priced. the club didn't want to go into the red, and we needed Cesc to be sold to free up funds; i think that was the likely case. obviously i don't blindly think Wenger and the board have got it 100%. There is a point though where getting agitated at this or that player not being bought should be weighed against a more sensible set of criteria. Will he actually improve the team, not just fill a position? and finally Arsenal, for better or worse (i think better), can't afford to buy expensive mistakes and watch them ruin the team, or sit on the bench like Citeh or Chelsea. So, are they really worth the money?

To win the league again will be a massive test for the club in the coming seasons, but that is rightly what we're aiming for. some players will not bring the quality to reach this level, no matter what they've done for other teams in breaking expectations (D. Bent for club, and particularly England, for example). I'm right behind Wenger to make these decisions, despite the poor season we've had. The team we played against spurs is a quality core, and as long as we persuade Van Persie to stay, its a squad that won't be broken up in the near future like all the summers past. A couple of quality signings, the return of Wilshire, and the continued progression of some proper looking youths. I'm excited for the future again!

Ok guys sorry to put a bit of a downer on things but just got this off Arsenal.com from Wenger

Unfortunately we had some bad news for Rosicky today, and Vermaelen as well. Vermaelen has an ankle problem, and Rosicky a back problem. I don't think they will be available for Wednesday, whether they are available for Saturday is a big doubt

hope this dose not kill any momentum not realy botherd about CL game but these 2 will be a massive miss for liverpool game

RG

Believable19 Unbelievable0

Miquel in for TV5, and AOC in at CAM for Rosicky! We will hammer the scousers!
Ezdee!

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont have a game wednesday :P

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep Miquel/Djourou for TV5 - although id rather go for Miquel as Djourou could be low on confidence.

Id go for Yossi instead of Rosicky and Theo/Ox and Gerv on the flanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Isnt it an international week anyway so does it matter they can't play on Wed!

Agree0 Disagree0

We're playing milan 6.3, not next wednesday. i guess wenger means international matches.

iceman

Agree0 Disagree0

We play milan after liverpool not before

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's hope Gervinho, The Ox and Miquel can step up to plate

Agree0 Disagree0

I think wenger was talking about the internationals realy hope he is just saying this so they dont have to play in them

RG

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully they will miss the mid-week internationals & not Saturdays match against Liverpool. We need to keep the momentum going & hunt down the Toot. A 3rd place finish, with 3 top class signings, might just persaude RVP to stay.
