Just watched the Barca game. Tried keeping an eye on David Villa at the end and to be fair he certainly didn't behave like a man that may've just played his last home game for em. Think along with this & what else's been said we can write that transfer off. To be honest I think we can pretty much write any "quality" signings this window... Just my opinion.

100% been told he wants to leave and is confident barca will buckle, him and messi do not get on, confirmed by his sisters on twitter to a spanish paper, there's only one place for you if messi don't like you to be fair. if we don't get him in jan, he will be even cheaper in the summer, cheap and world class is how wenger likes it.

dick law has been in barca for a few days now. which is a sign every arsenal fan knows we have serious interest.

Belfodil from Parma seems to be the player we are interested in, very young but huge potential,

Looks a lot like Benzema but has a long way to go, would be a good signing for the future can play anywhere up front. but what a let down that would be after all the Jovetic rumours.

Believable10 Unbelievable43

Oh, and Parma were busy reminding him of Lupoli

Chaps, have we activated the release clause in Diame's contract? I have seen in various sources that he is in talks(for Malaga Gooner I shall explain that this is not a done deal).
Additionally, is the heart condition still a problem as I see he failed his Barcelona medical?

Believable4 Unbelievable29

He had agreed personal terms and a transfer fee with barcelona but as you say failed medical because of heart defect!

What would people's view on us going for Tom Ince, strong left sided attacking option? English also and wouldn't need a lot of time to adapt. We definitely need a CB before window closes Mertersacker makes me very worried and I feel both Kos and TV5 panick with him alongside and that draws them into faults. Wouldn't mind seeing Miguel getting some game time as well.

Holmesy

Believable13 Unbelievable36

Holmesy, at the risk of being accused of being your hom-age, I like this post as well. Ince? nice thought, cheaper and frankly equally, potentially, as good as Zaha,
Whither Miquel? Gone the way of the rest of Arsene'd "developers"?
Max Farnham

Agree0 Disagree0

Ince I agree with. But no better than the Ox IMO.

Completely and utterly disagree with your Mertesacker comment though. He is an excellent defender and I don't know what matches you have been watching but we always look more solid with him at the back.

Agree2 Disagree1

What are you on Per have been the best out of the 3 this season and Vermarlen this season has really underperformed.

Agree1 Disagree0

You sure he's are best defender obviously don't watch or know how a centre back should play, clueless

Agree0 Disagree1

Mert may be slow but read the the game better than any of the others.

Agree1 Disagree0

Per has been our best defender this season by far. Anyone who actually watches
matches would see that

Agree0 Disagree0

100% agree with your view on Tom Ince. Would love him at the club! Can only hope we make a move!

Gooner Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

Mertesacker makes you worry? vermaelen has been absolutely shocking this season!

Agree0 Disagree0

After your Mertesacker comment I can't take you seriously at all. Terrible shout.

Sadly guys, we won't be seeing any big names (Jovetic, Villa, Cavani) this window.

It's thought that the only signing that is a possibility at the moment is Diame. Although he is a good player, he is very similar to Diaby and would not be a starter in a fully fit side.

It seems we will have to look to Summer to make any further progress with this current crop with Sagna the only note worthy player likely to leave. Tying down Walcott, Wilshere and co to long term contracts has given us a solid spine and a British core which eludes to a different approach that Wenger might be taking.

Lets hope it pays off.

From what source have you gathered this information from? Wenger said he still wants two players to come in so unless you are wenger don't b******t

Agree1 Disagree0

How can anybody say this is unbelievable? Much more likely than signing a top class ready made player.. How many times has wenger done that? Arshavin is about it really. He worked out well...

Chimney sweep josh

Agree0 Disagree0

High level negotiators are in both Italy and Spain at the moment... That's all I'm saying.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to add Tom Ince to the British core of players we have!

Great work ed02
Ed please tell me which two players do you think will join arsenal before thursday?
plz give me names?thanx in advance.
Wajid {Ed002's Note - I will avoid giving any more names right now Wajid and whilst the interest in Adrian Lopez is serious I am not so sure anything can be done.}

Believable7 Unbelievable6

Any news on jovetic? does this story have any substance to it?

edoo2 do you have any information on joel campbell and where we are at in getting a work permit sorted out.

cheers

champagne charlie {Ed002's Note - Arsenal will apply again in the summer.}

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Betis want him if he doesn't get it, but we have a world beater here I reckon, he's been quality for Betis

Hi ed.
With reports now saying that madrid, shalke and psg all interested in wenger do you think any change is likely in the next year and a half and who do you reckon could come in?

Saint arsenal {Ed002's Note - There will be significant changes in the next 20 months. I don't know who will arrive.}

Believable6 Unbelievable11

Hi ed, that's the third time I have seen that said now, do you have anymore info it sounds quite daunting lol I realise you may not have anymore info or do not wish to divulge but would it have anything to do with the new sponsorships coming in and wengers contract expiring in summer 2014? once again thankyou in advance

Heard that Arsenal are among a number of clubs looking at
Benteke. Thoughts?

Believable10 Unbelievable31

I hope so the lad is quality and would flourish at a better club than villa

Agree1 Disagree1

Hope so. Strong and good finisher. A good age at 22.

Agree1 Disagree1

No similar to giroud, Ba was rejected because of this

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jan 2013 14:08:44
Ba is nothing like Giroud

Agree2 Disagree0

Ba is nothing like Giroud.

Benteke is nothing like Giroud.

Dare I say it, Benteke's goal the other day where he had his back to goal, fainted one way, turned and arrowed into the corer, reminded me of Henry.

Benteke is the real deal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Qoute from Wenger's mouth, it was between Giroud and Ba they are similar I picked Giroud, so we won't be signing Ba. this was before he signed for Chelski.

How isn't Giroud and Benteke, similar? both target men that have a goal in them and can play with feet. we'v got 10 year old Football manager kids in the building

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a Gooner too and he thought Villa was in london !!

3 points against Liverpool jovetic an diame before Thursday will look very good for the rest of season fingers crossed gooners I wonder if we loose or draw to Liverpool do you think he will buy someone on the last day of the window panic buy

Believable27 Unbelievable26

Add Hummels and it would be walking in a winter wonderland

SY4

Agree3 Disagree0

I can't see Wenger panic buying due to results. He will have a very clear image in his head of positions he wants filled and will get a player for that role.

This happened summer 2011, he wanted a midfielder and went after Fellaini, he was told no but offered Arteta. Though it was seen by many as a panic buy that he got lucky with.

So I'd say that regardless of the result against Liverpool we will be signing two players, and the two you've mentioned will be be the most likely. Until 1st Feb we won't know for sure.

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont want to be negative but are people seriously thinking wenger is gona spend yhe £25mill plus which is needed for hummels and £20mill plus for jovetic? £45mill for 2 players? seriously guys?
wenger has said wants a striker but isn't gona pay big money for someone to take walcott or girouds place up front? He will be a back up player. He has already said its numbers struggle on if them 2 were out. No villa or jovetic will come to sit on bench. I understand your optimism but its same eery window. Wenger won't spend big!

The Bastia chairman has claimed to have rejected an offer from Newcastle for Florian Thauvin.

Believable21 Unbelievable5

27 Jan 2013 08:34:27
Sad but true Giroud current form will stop Wenger from perusing a striker in this window. More likely to see him move for a dm is the "right player" becomes available.

Sell Santos include in a swap deal well for any one really, I have never seen such a useless, lazy player wearing an Arsenal shirt!

Believable42 Unbelievable7

Am I the only one who think giroud haveing a steady season he no rvp but I think he doin ok for his first season

Agree4 Disagree0

He's having a decent season, but its not enough to have just one striker. admit it, we would have lost vs brighton if it hadnt been for giroud. that's not acceptable...

Agree3 Disagree0

Considering its his first season after coming from Ligue 1 I think he's done pretty well. He's obviously no RVP but there aren't many strikers in the world that are.

Another striker wouldn't go amiss though. You look at Utd and they have RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez. Giroud is our only actual centre forward; Walcott and Podolski are played mostly on the wings.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

We will never win anything with santos playing for Arsenal. He can't defend can't shoot, cannot run. Useless

Agree0 Disagree0

Santos doesn't normally play for Arsenal, Gibbs does

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I agree Giroud has found some form and found his feet he is starting to feel good now and well I have to say it walcott at age of 27 will be the new henry he will be at his best

Agree0 Disagree0

Santos is a joke and i'm quite literally astounded how he is brazilian because most of them are quality but santos is just a brazilian flop has he ever played for brazil in an international does anyone know

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jan 2013 08:26:06
Jovetic, Gustavo and Hummels are the main targets but if they aren't available at 'Wenger's price' expect no major signings maybe Diame on deadline day according to whispers at the club

Believable28 Unbelievable10

Wenger said he has no interest in Diame

Agree0 Disagree2

Dont believe Wenger he never new who Santi was before he signed him???

100% been told that we are not looking for players in Germany

According to La Nazione, Arsenal are ready to offer 24 million euros to Fiorentina to obtain 23 year old forward Stevan Jovetic.

Believable33 Unbelievable30

Well I hope they are throwing Arshavin in with that, because 24m euros won't be enough on its own.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jan 2013 09:35:16
And I suppose you think arseshavin will balance out the odds?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes. His Release Clause is 27mGBP. So it would.

Great work ed02.
Ed do you still think arsenal will make two signings in the coming 4 days?thanx
wajid {Ed002's Note - Of course.}

Believable19 Unbelievable17

26 Jan 2013 20:44:14
Edd any news on arshavin or squilaci being sold or even being released they bring nothing to the team would like to see some replacements for these average players {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance Arshaving will leave.

Ajaccio, Evian and Bastia are looking to Squillaci but his wages will be a difficulty at these clubs. It has been suggested that Monaco, Marseille and Nice could be interested in taking him as a free agent in the summer.}

Believable18 Unbelievable1

What kind of wage is Squillaci on that would deture others form signing him? If we signed him on anything more than 25-30k a week then we really need to look at our scouts! Anyone that recommended this guy(and santos) needs sacking sooner than later!

Morning arsenal fans,
My cousin (steward) has informed that arsenal are in intense talks with la liga striker gonzalo higuin after benzema has took his place in real xi and looking for a first team. The Argentina striker is a prolific goal scorer and will be a good purchase

Dave the gooner

Believable17 Unbelievable41

I live with a Steward at uni who has worked in all possible areas, VIP etc met most players and legends and certain Russian billionaires and he has never even had a sniff off transfer news so maybe this is true but i'm very sceptical how a steward would know

What utter crap, since when have stewards been in the know about transfers? Good one!

Have been told concrete info that no signings will be made from Germany, so that rules out Hummels and Gotze and whoever else their is.

Jovetic's name brought that same smile Santi Cazorla's name brought to Wenger's face when asked if he was interested in signing him, Their is definate interest their, an Enquiry was made, that was the last I heard.

A keeper seems to be on AW list also, and a young/backup CB and CDM if possible, if one isn't signed Wanayama will be signed in the summer as Wenger is reluctant to buy a player not available for Champions League

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Why wouldn't he be interested in a world class player but unfortunately mate it's probable that if we sign anyone they will be from the bargain basement, but never say never so I hope that we do sign him as he is world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was the same smile when he denied interest in Santi,

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger needs to buy players now to keep us the the champions league hunt for next season forget this years campaign we need to get top four this season

Were 3 players away from being tittle contenders again.

Jovetic - Could happen soon.
Wanyama -Seem likely but not till the summer.
Hummels - Not much in this IMO Dortmund are a better team than us now and will not sell their best players to us.

Believable13 Unbelievable24

We don't need the mass overhaul that many people talk about but we have been 2 or 3 players short of being contenders for the past 6 or so years. Clearly £60 million is a lot of money but it (or £65 million) would arguably be enough to get these three (whether they would come is another matter).

The negativity surrounding the club would be swept away in an instant, the race for 4th spot (possibly 3rd if they gel quickly) would be seriously on and all those sponsors waiting in the wings to renew would be salivating. It's not a lot of money in terms of top teams expenditure these days and why we don't make this investment is beyond me.

How long has frimpong actually got left on his contract? Does it really run out in the summer, or is it later? Think he would be a loss, anyone with that passion to wear the shirt is welcome by me

Believable30 Unbelievable2

Not sure exactly how long it is but Frimpong comfirmed earlier in the season that his contract doesn't expire in the summer.
