Ed would you be able to provide us on details of Mari? Reports are reporting that the deal is off?

{Ed002's Note - As I understand it certain parties in Brazil were expecting a sale and a single payment - which would allow Flamengo to complete a deal for Barbosa but Arsenal stepped back from that requesting an initial loan - giving rise to the thought it might be touch and go over a Work Permit. The player was committed to being back in Brazil today for post winter break testing - which all players have to do.}

Thank you ed.

{Ed002's Note - Could still happen - the amounts involved are low and they can find out about a WP beforehand - but they know it is on the cusp.}

Isn't he Spanish?

Thanks Ed. Would you expect that to possibly be arsenals only business in this transfer window?

{Ed002's Note - I really can't say - but as I explained before money is tight from previous purchases so the bargain basement is where the shopping is going on.}

Defensively we are down to the bare bones. With matches coming thick and fast after the break, an additional CB would be ideal. Hopefully a deal to secure Mari can still be agreed.

Hello Eds,
I see that Flamengo have now signed Barbosa. Has there been any developments with the Mari deal which has allowed that to happen?
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with Mari.}

Hopefully the purchase of Mari can be completed. It appears to be over the fee. Although it does seem quite a low reported fee for a CB entering the prime of his career.

Perhaps it's not the size of the fee but the terms of payment that's the problem.

So frustrating for the player if he has been hauled over here only to find nothing has been agreed. Feel sorry for him. I had already pictured him in the box when we were taking a corner 😊.

Morning Eds,
Reports surfacing this morning that Arsenal are trying to seal a loan deal for James Rodriguez before Friday. Are there any truths in the interest as far as you're aware?
Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Real Madrid being open to loaning the player outr - they want to sell him or use him in an exchange - and certainly they are talking with another club about him.}
