spuds just signed lamela, erikson is in london at the moment and they are giving a medical to a £9m very highly rated defender (steau bucharest I think). that's another £60m they going to spend in next day or 2.
my god, are they just trying to spend more than arsenal this transfer window?. oh hold on.

Believable36 Unbelievable6

Well they're selling Bale. Although arsenal would keep the Bale money an say the team is good enough. Har har.
But ya its very annoying seeing Spurs build a contending team before our very eyes, while we do nothing but get injuries.

Agree3 Disagree0

Seriously what are we doing!

Is there any actual ambition in our club.

I know Bale will fund all these signings spurs have brought in, but we are still the Arsenal.

It's just pathetic, I also apologize for my whinging in advance.

Agree3 Disagree0

Its actually so dishearting seeing all these players signing for spurs, they don't have CL football, but what these players can see is that from mxt year spurs will have CL football an US well we might as well start askin those liverpool fans at work how to cope with the decline of our club, wenger is only targeting impossible players now, so he can say with a smerk on the 3rd we worked very hard he see who we tried to sign but cluns didn't want to sell,

Agree1 Disagree0

Looking at there players though, how many would you really have wanted to sign?
Paulinho - unproven but possibly
Capoue - Squad player
Chadli - Wenger would have been slaughtered for spending on an unproven kid
Soldado - 28 and 26mm quid? no way
Lamela - never seen him play, but that's a lot for a 21 year old.
Erikssen - looked the nuts a couple of years ago, but no champs league team has come in for the last year and a half, must tell you something. May prove good, still a gamble. Better than Rosicky/Carzorla? Nope!

So looking at there signings, they have a deeper squad (bar center forward) but not necessarilty the quality we have. Throw in that they lost there 32 goal top scorer and assister from last year and I don't see what people are worried about.

We are bnetter still now, and with a couple of signings (i am still keeping the faith!) we will only improve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Trust me, Capoue is just what you lot need, the DCM you're missing. Paulinho will be far better than Ramsey and has more longevity than Arteta.
Soldado expensive but Spurs have taken too long to solve the striker problem so no choice.
Lamela and Eriksen expensive pair but the equivalent of Bale + £40m or more is value.
Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to Green Dream

Paulinho - a defensive mid that also can attack, exactly what Arsenal are after
Capoue - another defensive mid but agreed is a squad player and not the standard we're looking for for our first team
Chadli - would be a squad player for us however with all these injuries he would walk straight into our first team, quick LW
Soldado - proven goal scorer, 28 yes and agreed 26mil is too much but that was his buy out clause
Lamela - an absolute world class player, dubbed the new Christiano Ronaldo, for £30mil he's a steal
Erikssen - linked with Juve a few days ago, pretty sure they're a Champions League team, also linked with Atletico Madrid, pretty sure they're a Champions League team

Agree0 Disagree0

Bailey -
good response - but i'd say that it backs up that at an outlay of 90mm they have a midfielder that's not played in europe but has good potential, a back up winger (prob not a lot better than Miyachi who would go for similar price if he were plying his trade for a european minnow) and the latest next Ronaldo. Not trying to be awkward, but being linked means little if money is not on the table for Erikssen.

I just think that they have made many squad buys, and who knows, they may all become great players, but I for one am not hitting the panic button yet. Only bit of flair or skill is in Lamela/Erikssen and i'd say there are huge question marks over both of those.

Agree0 Disagree0

The Bale money will go nowhere near to covering the combined transfer fees and the additional wages (combined will be many times Bale's earnings at Spurs). Reckon Joe Lewis/ENIC must be going for the title or ECL place before FFP seriously kicks in. Fair play to him if this is the case because it's going to be so much harder to break into (or in our case back into) the top 4 after that happens.

Agree0 Disagree0

I look at Spurs purchases and see that every single one of them would add to our team, they're building a squad with real depth and strength. We on the other hand have a first team squad of 16 players - that just enough to field a team and bench - utterly inexcusable. Why are players going to Spurs? Perhaps because they see a team which is ambitious and appears to be on the way up, the exact opposite of how Arsenal appears (content with CL qualification and 4th place.) Wengers had months to bring in new arrivals, dithered made ridiculous offers etc, I forsee the usual deadline day "nobody was available" speech. Funny other clubs are finding people available at the right price.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Green Dream (Simmo is a Spud - no way can you say Paulinho is much better than Ramsey at this stage!).

The only players I'd liked would be Paulinho and Lamela but I think Wenger can pull of a Paulinho quality player for cheaper.

I'd say Flamini, Cabaye + Giroud = Capoue, Paulinho, Soldada.

(Assuming we get Cabaye and some other squad players in) I am worried is the only one we might regret not getting is Lamela.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just spent more than Arsenal this window buying a bag of Quavers

apparently true, galatasaray are very close to signing angel di maria from RM. fee and wages have been agreed, according to turkish media

Believable15 Unbelievable43

Don't think so mate

Agree2 Disagree0

Would Di Maria really play in Turkey? Can't see it, but its probably as likely as him joining us.

Agree1 Disagree0

I very much doubt that Di Maria would choose Galatassaray over us. Forgive me if this is true, just I don't think he will go there in a world cup year when he knows he will play in a better league for us and have constant football.

Thats just my opinion tho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Burg gooner I pretty much don't think so either mate but its a main headline on tv sports news

Liam Brady on Irish Tv saying, when asked about arsenal transfers, there will be surprises before the end of the window. Tried to cover his statement by saying he meant it in a broader league view saying united had signed know one also.

Went on to say he thinks Rooney, Mata and Suarez are still up in the air. not necessarily that they were Arsenal bound or anything.

But anyway it might mean nothing but if you saw his body language he looks like a "bauld buachaill" (cheeky lad) in the know. Taught it was worth posting

I've seen reports that we are in advanced talks with Damiao for £16m. Any truth in this Ed's. Seems like a quality signing from bits I've heard and seen of him. {Ed013's Note - I think they want more than that for him and we haven't had any confirmed reports of this}

Believable3 Unbelievable15

Last thing I want is more garbage. rather give theo a chance upfront

Agree0 Disagree1

Not sure you can call him rubbish Lakerville. Maybe not quite the Higuan/Suarez we hoped, but a very good Giroud back up.

Well Flamini is going to be confirmed either late tonight or sometime tomorrow. Contract finally finalised this pm.

Seriously though even I the most optimistic of fans is getting worried.

I still think if we don't spend the blame had to be pointed at the board. There simply HAS to be a reason we haven't bought. Wenger, despite what the media want us to believe, isn't stupid. A stupid man does not become Invincible.

I think Kroenke is ripping the club to shreds and is letting Wenger take the blame. Using Wenger's love for the club as a shield.

Believable51 Unbelievable9

Seriously worried now Wenger will not spend.what is wrong at Arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree1

Here here, kroenke is making money from our past success and not putting anything back into the team. I bet wenger wants out more than anyone but would never hurt the fans or damage the good things he has done and therefore as he has said before, he will see out his contract and go.

Agree1 Disagree1

Why would Kronke want to rip the club to shreds? That makes no sense at all. Kurb the frustration and support the players on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why the hatred against Kronke?

He has made ( or the club has ) £70 odd milion available to spend. If Wenger doesn't see fit to spend that, how is that Kronke's fault?

It's being widely reported now that we've re-signed Flamini. It's a start I suppose.

Believable30 Unbelievable14

It's the start and finish, trust me

NO CHANCE.lololol

Agree0 Disagree1

If he is still fit I think it may not be a bad buy. although i'm not over the moon about it either. remember he played in a 442 when we had him. will he fit into our current system?

Agree0 Disagree1

I personally think it be a good signing its a start and he is a dcm

Agree0 Disagree1

The way things are at the moment flamini is our marquee signing. bloody sad

Kondogbia Is Terminating His Contract With Sevilla. Kondogbia is partly owned by Doyen Sports Investments - the same company who have a stake in Radamel Falcao - and now the Frenchman is believed to be on his to Monaco.

{Ed022's Note - That is the rumour doing the rounds. Arsenal definitely have an interest in Kondogbia but the lure of football in France and a heafty wage rise seems to be appealing. However, with the lure of plenty of French players at Arsenal, the CL football now secure and a wage increase on his current salary then don't rule out Arsenal...}

Believable35 Unbelievable9

Very unlikely. for me he is going to monaco.

this buyout was done with a purpose.

{Ed022's Note - All will be revealed soon enough my friend...}

Agree1 Disagree1

Well seville them selves said, kondogbia is officially buying out his contract as monaco have offered to pay for it

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 022,
Woulds love you to be correct, but has Wenger not always avoided any player with third-party ownership.

{Ed022's Note - Wenger does not like third party ownership as it is an unwanted side issue when trying to arrange transfers. Let's be brutally honest here, Monaco are in the driving seat at the moment but we are desperately trying to passenger drive from the back seat...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets all hope wenger pulls this one around and swallows his pride on transfer morals. also another notch on the wengers too scared to spend post.

According to skys bet, Arsenal are now favorites to sign Juan Mata, displacing Manchester United.

Arsenal have come in from 16/1 to 2/1 to sign Juan Mata following sustained betting overnight. They're now favourites, displacing Manchester United who have drifted out to 9/1. See all our transfer odds here.

Thats a huge change from 16/1 to 2/1

{Ed022's Note - Ed022's note of caution. Betting odds are not indicative of us then signing the player. We were favourites to sign Fellaini and he still plays for Everton. We were favourites for Higuan and he now scores for Napoli. We were favourites to sign Hazard and he plays for Chelsea and lastly we were favourites for Mata THE FIRST TIME and obviously he is still not an Arsenal player...}

Believable21 Unbelievable41

Ah sky.

been ripping of Arsenal fans since 2005

Agree1 Disagree0

Totally agree with ed, I take odds with a pinch of salt.

Some fans have put a few quid on mata, because of speculation of mata's dad being at the game, hence the odds go down.

It's still speculation and it doesn't mean the deal will happen- whatever the odds 'say'.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 10:34:55
It's not about Sky, it's about hype.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great point Ed - converting betting odds into 'probability of transfer' is usually completely misleading.

2/1 - as in we have a 50% chance of signing Mata? I highly doubt that.

{Ed022's Note - 95% of all statistics are made up. 3/4 of the public know that. Betting odds carry about as much weight as hydrogen...}

Agree0 Disagree1

I hope to God we sign Mata and before Sunday aswell. However this shows the stupidity of Wenger at times. He could have signed Mata for £17m originally but didn't want to pay the asking price as usual, yet now he is willing to pay £30 - £40m 2 seasons later.

Agree2 Disagree0

2/1 is a 33% chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

97% of Ed022's comment was VERY funny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata isn't signing, apparently its a cover for Demba Ba negotiations. We get Ba if we stop hassling Newcastle for Cabaye

{Ed022's Note - With a name like yours its hard not to believe you... Ba is in talks with Newcastle and West Ham currently...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe he was but Man United are now 5/1 favs and we are now 6/1 so didn't last long.

Agree0 Disagree0

We're not getting mata so just stop this

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2013 23:00:46
Yeah Sky done the same thing with Higuain and Suarez and people bet their niagras on them and done their money too. Don't get sucked in by them

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelski are not going to sell there best player from last season to us.

Just heard that ozil wants 200k per week, so that rules him out.

Believable46 Unbelievable9

Don't believe it. he is currently on 80k per week, and he wanted a pay rise to about 135k per week at Real.

They didn't like how he drummed up interest from united to get a pay rise and now he is on the outside looking in.

Just like the Eden Hazard Story, media reports had him signing a 250k per week deal. actually he earns 175k per week.

Di maria has told friends that he's going to join arsenal. The news came after arsenal booked their place in UCL last 32. Expect the news very soon

{Ed022's Note - Are you Di Maria's FRIEND? Transfer Speculation Friend?}

Believable23 Unbelievable32

Would be an amazing signing. I still think we need an additional centre back and cover for Giroud, as well as a defensive midfield player. Fingers crossed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I am one of his friends. however he told me, he is interested in joining arsenal on Fifa13.

when I was making a trade he said, yes virtually I think I would say yes. no?

and then he went to meet john henry and talk about what other people are smoking.

Agree1 Disagree1

This is what he has actually said.

"I understand that the club is strengthening and they are precise in what they do. But I signed up to 2018 just a year ago and my desire is to stay in the Bernabeu."
