I REALLY hope we haven't. Unless we are getting rid of our dead weight it's, in my opinion, a pointless signing. Elnany isn't good enough at the moment. If you have a million pounds and you've got the choice between a Fiesta or a Ferrari, which one do you go for?

We desperately need to rotate Flamini as he can't play more than once a week. All the big names aren't available in January so l'll take this Basel guy any day. He is not that bad as you are suggesting. Good passer with high work rate.

See your point NE mate but if there's no Ferrari available I'd take the working fiesta every time over the collection of morris minors with no wheels we currently have in our garage.
This lad may never be any good that's true but there's a chance he might where Rosicky and Artetta were both past it 2 seasons back.
As long as he's not Kim Kallstrom injured before signing he can't do any harm.

If the fiesta has passing figures that pirlo would be proud of I'll take a punt.
He's young, adds squad depth an imo is a worthy addition at the reported 7mil fee and I'd expect modest wages.
Good chance of resale income in the future worst case scenario.

He seems like a fairly decent signing got a lot of experience for a young lad could prove a good bit of buissness in my opinion. puts in a challenge good passer and can score a few goals worth a punt.

Elneny is an upgrade to both Arteta and Flamini imo.
I think he's going to be a good asset.

We're having a good season and have a great chance of winning the league. Buy a player who can challenge Le Coq. If Mr Wenger were to buy Elneny and a 'world class' DM then I would have no problem but I would be gutted if a project player was the answer to our problems. I'm probably being greedy though.
G62, money talks and we have enough of it to buy any player we want. I would happily over pay for a great DM if I were in Wengers shoes, but it's not my decision, it's a case of whether he wants to or not.

I was a season ticket holder at Basel for years. He never stood out to me. But he is a decent player. Xhaka was the one who stood out and I think he would be a better fit for arsenal. But from what I hear now from friends who still go see Basel he has been one of their stand out players. Basel have some very good players who have gone on to do very well so I would not be too disappointed with Elneny.
