Ok Ed, ive just seen on sky sports news they still have Mata linked with arsenal but it seems Lucas Biglia has now dominated the headlines as it seems we have enquired about him at anderlecht, im not sure if this is a good move or not, they are quoting around the £7 mill mark, personally i would want wenger to push the boat out and double that for Mata. thoughts?
Plus i dnt really know that much about Biglia, only that he hasnt played in any of the big leagues so far in his career. {Ed001's Note - Mata would cost more than that, the reported figures come from his buyout clause being around that amount. Unfortunately that only applies to Spanish teams, foreign teams would be expected to pay taxes etc on the deal.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Also biglia is a CDM so there's no reason why we can't sign both.

Yes I told you there would be news . They are talking about unveiling Mata Sunday before the arsenal match to hype the crowd Waiting for international and work permits before anything can be announced

Believable5 Unbelievable7

He doesn't need a work permit, he's Spanish

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Spanish player Mata need a work permit?

Agree0 Disagree0

What work permit? Juan Mata is Spanish and is 100% permitted to play football/work in England.

How comes clubs like man utd, man city ect. take 2 days sign a player yet it takes us 6 weeks to sign one person. They seem to outline the player they want, put in a bid, get a medical sorted straight away and the player is signed. Why does this team seem to make things harder for itself by dragging a deal out for weeks on end?

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Because when we have supposedly 'agreed' a fee, its bulls**t made up by the medoa, and if we are interested we will make the move when the time is right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stop whining you big girls blouse honestly some of the posts on this forum are frankly gutless and idiotic. the reason for not doing deals instantly is that it allows for better prices to be negotiated. Look at the money liverpool have spent - in gervihno and matta wenger will got two far better players than downing and henderson for a fraction of their cost. Duh

Agree0 Disagree0

Could it be that they are prepared to spend the cash, therefore negating the need to barter/haggle/offer loanees in exchange for said players services.. also remember bigger fees which these clubs will pay also increases the revenue in the agents pocket, so the quicker its done the quicker they get fatter.. another reason, of course could be, that as we've won zip in the last few years, we're no longer looked upon as a 'big' club, meaning that wenger has to virtually beg players to come along, then beg them to stay when he lets their contracts run down... think of it this way... if you were going on holiday and someone offered you first class seating and hotels etc in a paradise location, you'd jump..whereas if you're offered a flight to walton on the naze staying in a caravan, you'd have to think long and hard...
sorry to all from WOTN...

arsenal are putting in a bid for baines to fill clichy's hole in left back, while samba is on the verge of signing, with cahill signing a new contract at bolton. also benzema will only join if real madrid sign tevez with their 38 million bid

Believable7 Unbelievable8

29 Jul 2011 19:31:31
nobody is talking about signing a top class keeper, some like diego benaglio, hugo Lloris.buffon
much better then flap & manuel.
you do need a top class keeper to win trophies.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Why would you talk about signing a top class keeper then fail to even mention the fact we have Sczezsny? He's our number 1, Wenger has already said so. There is no point buying a top class keeper as a reserve because he will want to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yh tottaly agree shezza proves your point doesnt he [carling cup final]

Agree0 Disagree0

Yh tottaly agree shezza proves your point doesnt he [carling cup final]

Agree0 Disagree0

Cut the guy some slack....chesney is the one and only (lol) ...even the best make the odd mistake. He's gonna be world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

End of the day every single keeper gives away a pen at some point, and lets a goal in at some point. Doesn't mean they aren't world class. Shez is worlds class, that's blindingly obvious, and the nice thing is he's got room for improvement.

Agree0 Disagree0

No point talking about it because it's not going to happen. regardless of whether you think we need one or not, Wenger has made it very clear that he is not interested in signing a GK.

It is more likely that he will give Sczezsny a first season as no 1, with Fabianski occasionally a few more chances to prove himself. Mannone will be the backup option after some impressive performances for Hull, and if we have the same sort of bad luck with injuries he will bring Damian Martinez up from the reserve team. All in all, Wenger clearly thinks he has seen enough quality to be confident in our goalkeeping personnel. Not saying I agree, but it is pointless discussing potential targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but to the guy above me that's also like saying 'It's pointless discussing Mata/ Jags/ whoever - it will either happen or it won't'. Of course our discussion has no bearing on anything, but discuss we will thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is completely different talking about GK's than talking about Jags or Mata. Jags is a point of intrigue because we know for a fact that Wenger wants a CB, and it's interesting to see what types of player he is considering for the role. Mata is being linked by almost every press source and there is a likelihood that he will be the sort of big money signing that we have missed for so long. These potential moves are being discussed based on fact and directly relate to how our team might grow and change, discussing GK or LB moves which have no chance of being fulfilled can only end in disappointment.

tevez's people apparently in milan.inter bound? looks like that real-benzema offer no go?

Believable6 Unbelievable9

To be fair i never thought it was going to happen anyway, im sure wenger along with the rest of us is an admirer of benzema's but the price tag is massive compared to what arsenal pay and he has said he is happy at real so theres not really anything there to even suggest we would attempt it

Agree0 Disagree0

Well adebayour might save us and plus they will defo sign a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know what is happening in regards to Neymar but that goal against Flamengo might spark Real Madrid's interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are not bloody signing Benzema, wake up everybody, you must read too many papers. Jagielka or no-one

Agree0 Disagree0

Think R.Madrid will buy Neymar but maybe not until the January window, thus freeing up Benzema to make his move to Arsenal and boost our title challenge. Benzema is made for Arsenal and AW knows it.

banter plz
I am really optimistic and i am looking forward to the season last weeks all the rumours were dull but we are moving forward.
i think the team underdogs are and will be miquel-bartley-frimpong and vela

If mata does come nasri will be made central and wilshere would move deeper meaning ramsey and frimpong would miss out although i do like be frimpong who i would have prefered and also walcott and gervinho would battle for a place but they seemed to work well in the koln match so the team i think will happen is
..................sceszny
...sagna...jagielka...TV5....gibbs
..............song...wilshere
.....gervinho....nasri.......mata
.....................RVP

the only thing i do not like is gibbs going forward i have no problem but he is a winger i think tv would work overtimeas gibbs would be up meaning he will be out of position(my thoughts) and apart from that i think we can trully dominate but IF benzema comes it would be fab buthow wenger wouuld handle the team rotation i dont know but these are the questions we want to ask i do trust shezza and i think that the best thing that will change is that we will have a good second team that would finish in the top half epl team[exageration]

2nd team

............fabianski/mannone
.jenkison.miquel.dj.bartley..traore
.............ramsey..frimpong
...A.O.C........................miyachi
....................vela

one thing that will definately happen is the season will be thrill

my opinions /view-i hope you agree i dont mind if you disagree feel free to air your views good or bad[constructive criticism]

1732% [banter plz ]

Believable8 Unbelievable4

This would be veryy good

Agree0 Disagree0

Kinda harsh on Koscielny though. I also don't belive Oxlade-Chamberlain will be coming

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post mate....the thing that concerns me is the lack of protection gibbs will get from mata.....and arsharvin would be a good option in the middle to cover for nasri, or to play him in the hole behind r.v.p ...i think we will be strong next year....dont be surprised if the everton captain is brought to play as a defensive midfielder and samba or cahill plays next to varmaelen....now that would be the leadership and spirit to take us to the next level..we were close last season.......in arsene we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger signing two defenders? never, he wont sign jags for dm cover that is certain.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great team that can challenge other europe giants and it is likely and a good analysis p.s ed what is the deal with alex oxlade-chamberlain {Ed001's Note - no idea, as far as I know there is n deal, just a long standing interest.}

Ed whats your view on Scott Parker?
to be honest im on the fence with this one, not sure if its somone AW should consider or perhaps already has considered

{Ed022's Note - I honestly think he would help us. Especially on loan for a season. No fee, a percentage of his wages and he is experienced. A tough tackler who never gives up. He would be a good leader for young players such as Frimpong, Ramsey and Wilshere too. Just my opinion. Wenger doesn't seem to be so keen and he's the expert...}

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Sorry Ed022 i usually agree with most things you say and i dont entirely disagree with your point this time, BUT.... maybe AW is just being subtle this time and seeing what pans out with the whole Cesc scenario before deciding if he will play his wild card for Scot Parker. Either way i'm thinking that Wenger has maybe this and probably many other avenues as back up he is not called Le Proffessor for nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 17:14:41
hi ed, do u think walcott would be better on the wing or in the center coz van persie bound to get injured again so would u play him upfront or not?

{Ed022's Note - I have always said Walcott should play through the middle in the "Henry role". He does need to beef up a bit still looks fragile up against big bruiser centre backs. He is not a winger. Wenger just put him their to encourage him to take on players and running at players. These attributes will ultimately help him when he plays through the middle...}

Believable6 Unbelievable4

Beef up a bit? Rubbish, if Walcott starts to put on weight and muscle-up it's all over for him. He needs to play to his strengths not try and become some sort of different player. If big, bruiser defenders want to have a pop at Theo they will, him losing 2 and a half yards of pace to put on 7-8lbs of muscle isn't gonna change anything, you'd be better off giving him a taser. Next you'll be telling us that Nasri (one of the least tackled and least fouled players in the EPL should bulk up a bit? The reason he avoids attention is because his body movement and feet scare the crap out of defenders - get too close to him and you are gonna concede fouls) Thru the middle with Walcott for sure - that was always the plan.
I wonder about AW sometimes and then I come on here and read some of the nonsense spouted and all of a sudden Le geezer starts to make sense again.

This is a rumours site not a EPL manager game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed022.. with respect.. there is no way that walcott can emulate the great TH in any way.. ok he has speed, but a tendency to either A. leave the ball behind..B. loose it or C. put in a terrible cross..also i have many fond memories of the french genius running in from the wing to destroy defences with his skill and pace so to describe him as a 'middle' player is wrong i feel.. a middle man would be alan smith or going back further supermac or back again john radford.. yeah they moved about a bit but in no way were they on the wing..to me walcott has no power to be a middle man.. he's a terrible header of the ball, and not a centre forward.. i dont think he has the technical skills of vela and much as many on here detest him, he doesn't have the strength of bendtner..i cannot see why people regard him in the same breath as henry... only link is the number 14 shirt..he could play 3 times the amount of games for arsenal than henry yet would still be miles behind him re goals or assists...you say ''not a winger''.. i say ''not good enough for arsenal.. end of''

Hi Ed, I remember AW saying that Diaby gives us strong physical presence in the mid field (which we really need I guess, even Viera said that we need physical strength) now he is injured who do you think Arsenal should buy to add that height and physical presence??

{Ed022's Note - IMO Diaby has often been compared to Vieira and then critisized for not playing like Vieira. He has all the physical attributes to be a dominant force in midfield but whether through injury or just mentally not being strong enough he just doesn't seem to do the job for me. He does show glimpes of talent but for me, far to inconsistent.}

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Diaby's no use at all, and beside's he's injured AGAIN for the next 10 weeks, get rid of him please.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Diaby is a frustrating one. He's a player you know has potential but his injuries and lack of mental strength hold him back from consistently showing his potential. It looks like he won't be the player we all hoped he would be (i.e. Vieira) but I still don't want him to leave because there's always that concern that he will finally blossom after he leaves. One thing is for sure, it is frustrating.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that he seems to have all the attributes and shows glimpses of what he is capable of (season before last I remember thinking that he looked like he was going to be the real deal). I think he shouldn't be rushed back but this is a make or break season for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

We cant get rid of him because he is injured

I don't think this transfer is dead yet-we simply don't know yet. 'Denial' is the first line of defence when negotiations are ongoing, especially at arsenal- up to a point regardless of what Valencia and arsenal are saying i would take with a pinch of salt, I suspect a lot is happening behind closed doors.

FFS Friday is always press day before a game. I'm looking into my crystal ball and the Friday before our opening EPL fixture against the toon is see AW calling a press conference to talk about Arsenal and Newcastle. Remember, you heard it here first. Also, I reckon tomorrow there is a 99% chance AW will have bowel movement - if not tomorrow then for sure Sunday. You won't read about it in the papers but I reckon caughtoffside will probably have the story cos I'm about to see if I can't flog it to them for £2.50 and half-a-snicker's. FFFS.

Diaby barely featured last season. He under-performs for France. He is currently injured and apparently won't be back til the end of August. I hope in that time AW sees that we really do not need him any more and we just get him off the wage bill, I for one am fed up with seeing him give the ball away every time he plays, and then not tackle back. Please Sell him AW

Believable19 Unbelievable5

Yeah, AW is so clever he's gonna flog a player who has his ankle in plaster. I hear the RNIB are looking for a holding mid-fielder. C*ck.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as hes injured a lot the ' he gives away the ball' statement isn't true. opta stats showed he was the best passing accuracy to anyone who played the same amount of minutes or more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really? fair enough For me when Diaby plays it is like a lottery, what will you get? Maybe it's bad coincidence that he's always crap when I watch him. And I am not alone in this.

Why am I cock for having an opinion you bellend? 1) Fabregas is injured, doesn't mean he's not going through a transfer does it you gimp? And did you miss the £35 million sale of one Andy Carroll in Jan who missed his first 3 or 4 weeks if not more with an injury? f*** off and find a real reason to be rude to someone. Seriously Eds you try and start a discussion and tossers like that seem to think it's acceptable to give people abuse, why? Because you're behind your keyboard at home? Believable9 Unbelievable2

"With City, Spurs and other clubs sniffing about I just want it done, signed sealed and presented"

I think we would all agree with that- the sooner we here there is a medical, etc the better then we can start relaxing a bit- I think we can all see he will potentially be a great signing for us- making us all a little nervous with the waiting.

{Ed022's Note - I think Mata will be one of the bigger signings (no offence to Gervinho, or Jenkinson...) that all Gooners have been waiting for. I think it'll take some of the heat off Wenger too. Then he can concentrate on getting Jags or whoever to shore up the defence.}

He is struggling with his weight and has not progressed as planned. He is in last chance saloon with his new loan deal

This is merely what I think will happen...I have no sources, there is no rumours....This to me seems to be a great bit of business and a well suited AW deal.

Im not saying this is true coz its from a paper but The Sun is saying that Jagielka is expected to demand a 4 year contract earning up to 100,000 p/w.

Surely they wont pay him that much.
What do you guys think

Polish Gooner

{Ed022's Note - If he asks for that. Which I doubt he would then he wont be signing for Arsenal. Simple as that. Other targets will be looked at if he asks for too much.}

Believable7 Unbelievable5

He would be on about £30,000 at EFC and prob there next top earner to Cahill. He would have his wages doubled over night if he came to us so he would never dream of demandig wages like that AW would offer him a 4 year deal @ £50-60,000 p/w + bonuses IMAO

Agree0 Disagree0

Jagielka is on 45-50 grand a week now he deserves at least 80-100 wen you see wot other players get hes the best cb in england

i think the perfect signing for the left would be bastos

he can cover ;left wing, left att mid, left wing back and left back.

This will offer competition to arshavin and gervinho on the left and be first choice left back until gibbs is ready.

he also has a farce shot something we currently dont have in the midfield and we could offer traore as part of the deal as they would need a back up for cissokko now that taiwo and bastos have left.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Its true not many players in Europe, or the World have such a farce shot as he does.

{Ed022's Note - I think this post is farcical...}

Agree0 Disagree0

And then again Taiwo played for Marseille. He never has, nor will he, play for Lyon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs will be LB next season AW has said this and TV5 will cover with Traore. AW wants a CB and Mata by the looks of it so just give it a rest AW likes to throw his kids into the pressure cooker and see how they go he did it with JW and Bentley and then Bentley decided he was the best player in the world and signed for Spurs to play first team football every week. Good move Dave you should've continued your development slowly with AW. KG will be treated exactly the same way as number 1 choice like Clichy was when Cashley turned his back on us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think Bastos would be a huge improvement at LB for us, especially not if Lyon are asking 15m euros. Sure hes great going forward, but he's a horrible defender. Would much rather sign Mata and give Gibbs until at least January.

Am i the only person who thinks Wenger has been busy, he has signed a top target (Gervinho) and a talented youth. I can remember the Jan window, on here people saying we are 100% signing X, Y & Z, guess what NOTHING happened Wenger does not just go out and buy players, he will not buy players we don't need with big names just to please the fans He will be working his socks off to plug the holes we have

If I was told 2 months ago that we would sign a Striker, full back, center mid & left winger while only loosing Clichy and some bench players i would have been over the moon

I'm happy with:

Gervinho
Jenkinson
Jags
Mata

and think this is a very busy window for Arsenal. We are not Man city, and nor would I want to be

An announcement is expected to be made later on today, no signings will be confirmed until it is on the Official Arsenal website but Wenger is trying to secure a deal by the weekend, though to be for Mata, so that he can make an appearance at the Emirates cup.

Well done Wenger. I Really think you are close to having one of the strongest squads for years.

{Ed022's Note - And so we all play the dreaded waiting game for the announcement or press conference or press release...}

Lets be honest this time next week before we go in to the Benfica game it could be a completely different squad to the one in which we finished last season with.
Wenger may have bought in Mata, Campbell, Jagielka, Jenkinson, Gervinho and possibly a left back as well as several youngsters. On top of this he could have got rid of, Bendtner, Eboue, Almunia, Clichy and Fabregas.

I feel that if he does complete these transfers then we have a strong, flexible squad going in to next season. The only problem that I can see is that if Wenger does not buy a Left Back. I personally do not believe that Gibbs is good enough for us and will not be able to carry on Arsenals record of superb fullbacks. Therefore if we bought in Enrique our back four would be much more solid. Also with the African Cup of Nations taking place during this forthcoming season I think that it would be beneficial if another striker was bought in as during this tournament we may only have three out and out strikers in RVP, Vela and Campbell. Also if Campbell did get a work permit I doubt that he would feature too much next year and would probably play in the reserves or be shipped out to Spain on loan. Everyones first choice is Benzema due to his reputation for scoring goals but I cannot imagine that Wenger would splash that much cash.

Overall if Wenger pulls all of these supposed deals off then I think we can say that this would have become a very successful Summer although frustrating. Looking forward to the new season

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I think Gibbs should be good enough as he is young and Arsene should work on him instead of wasting money that we can buy Mata Jagielka

First, let's clear the crap about Shawcross to AFC - he want to go to LPool, Stoke rejected a £9mil but he will move by the end of the window.

Just on the CB position at Arsenal, cause for me is very clear:

1 option - Jags, why? He can play DM as well, and that saves money and wages 4 another DM that was supposed to replace Deny.
2 option - Cahill - pricey but Wenger in no rush until Jan, cause he can get him 4 free, and Gary want to play 4 us, remember, he refused s**ty, that is why they bought Savic
3 option - Samba - he had his chance but the stupid lad signed 5 year contract, and Arsene will not sign him 4 the money is requested 4 him + he's not English and he is not that good.
4 option - foreign - Per, Any Borrusia defender, that Jorgensen guy, plenty of options...

Wenger has done his maths well on this position, cause is so obvious and that is why he also said that he will def buy a defender. He knows what he wants on this position Trust my judgement, you will se in about 1 week

And Scott Dann? not AFC quality...Wenger will never sign him

dont get dishearten if cahill is not brought in this summer, as cahill is in the last year of his contract i reckon AW is going to wait until January and give a figure in the region of 12-14m to Bolton and pretty much saying take it or lose him for free

Craig

Believable10 Unbelievable1

So you would pay up to 14 million, for a player who has 6 months left of his contract and never played in champions league......what a crazy world you live in

{Ed022's Note - I only expect a Jan bid if injuries require it. If Cahill is on say £30-£40k a week then 6 months of this would be £720,000/£960,000 *Both less than £1m. Why is it that every time strong rumours circulate about Arsenal looking at a particular player all of a sudden spurs are interested too?
Get your own scouts and get off this website Redknapp, do your own work, you can't compete with Arsenal for quality signings. Maybe you should be looking at Titus Bramble to strengthen up that defense of yours

Mike

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Harry likes to hang on to our coat tails because he knows our scouts are top class
and AW knows a good player when he sees one. After all who had heard of Nasri before he came to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard of him when he emerged/broke into Marseille first team (ribery still playing) and that was 2 seasons before he signed for arsenal. He was touted to be next Zinedin Zidane as he was (and turned to be) promising talented young player... I'm from Sarajevo, btw... so if I heard of him here, there must be like at least 60 million people who heard the same story before me (wenger included).

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Nasri was well known when we signed him, he had several big clubs after him but the appeal of first team football at arsenal drew him to us..

Agree0 Disagree0

If im right though, out of the young 'algerian french' players, (Nasri, Benzema and Ben Arfa) Nasri wasnt thought of as highly as the other 2....

Or is it a case of preventing arsenal from having him ?
I still have a strong belief that we will sign mata- sit tight and hopefully they'll be announcement soon.

City dont buy out of necessity. they do it so other teams cant get players they need, well thats sorta my theory. Have you seen how many strikers they have despite the fact they play with only 1 on the pitch at any given time so that they can make room for 3/4 defensive midfielders

Arsene Wenger to really step up his business in the transfer market, Cesc still expected to go but Nasri looks set to stay for at least this season. Mata and Joel Campbell are certainties with Jagielka Wenger's number one priority to partner Vermalean, however if he fails in another bid he will move onto Samba. Felipe Melo and James McCarthey also interest Wenger but yet to decide on whether to make formal bid. Arsenal will also try to seal a deal for Crystal Palace wonderkid Wilfried Zaha, sending him straight back on loan to them for this season. What you think ED?

Now I dnt want to get too carried away. But hypothetically say we were to aquire Mata, Jenkinson, Gervinho and Jagielka. Whilst selling the likes of Almunia, Bendtner, Clichy, Eboue and Denilson.
And if we could keep one of Cesc/Nasri (preferably Cesc) than surely thats a decent transfer window for us? I for one would be quite happy with that. Mata tore up the U-21 European Championships, and at 17mill is worth breaking our transfer record. Also baring in mind the emergences of Miyaichi and Frimpong who will be pushing for the first team. This all looks quite promising, doesnt it?
My only qualm now is that maybe we should have done our business a little sooner so that the squad could gel before the massive start of season games we have. But such is life

And with regards to LB and the dreaded DM positions. With the signings above I wouldnt be surprised if Wenger waits till Jan to assess how Gibbs is getting on. Its a now or never season for him, I remember people putting him in the same potential bracket as Wilshere and look at how he turned out?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Do Man city want to buy ever player that is for sale, or are they afraid another team may do better than them this season. No wonder AW will not talk about transfer targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia have taken sergio canales from real on loan for a year. So mata is def on his way out.

Man city have entered the frame. Arsenal are paying close to 17.5 mill for him. Tottenham are no longer in the picture they cant afford his wages which is now 62500 euros a week. If the contract clause is met at 17.5 mill then valencia have to pay mata over 70000 euros a week...

city want to pay him 100,000 a week and pair him up with silva his team mate from valencia. But right now it seems he wants to play for arsenal as he has a chance to shine as the star.

Cesc apparently has not been sulking. He has been angered that barca cant pay up.

Barca are reluctant to part with thiago and have actually made player swap offers with affelay which arsenal have turned down.

Arsenal either want cash or...cash and the player they want.

If they can land thiago and pair him up with mata then nasri is very likely to go.

If only cesc then mata.

defender maybe cahill as arsenal will put a final bid of 15 mill. If everton reject...arsenal will put in a 10 mill bid for cahill.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be very surprised if everton rejected 15m for jags. but who knows

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I believe they are denying bids as orders from arsenal to stop other teams from "stealing the player" from our grips

Tommy P

{Ed022's Note - Valencia are under no pressure to "deny bids" for their star player. If Man City offer £20m in compared to our £15m for example, they're not going to turn it down given their financial status. Also, if City bid the same as us to activate the clause they will no doubt double our salary offer. Either way, its not good!}

Arsenal are looking strong for next season and we have already signed Joel Campbell for 930.000 and gervinho for 10.6m.personally I would rather take 35m and thiago for fabregas as thiago looks set to be the next best thing as was absolutely amazing in the Audi cup scoring twice against bayern he looks promising. I think signing mata will be a great deal and jagielka but first we need to sell arshavin bendtner and rosicky.I also feel that we have not realy looked for a replacement for fabregas in the immediate future as for thiago it will take time to settle in England so I feel wenger should renew interest in Diego or hamsik who play just like cesc and will impact in the midfield also to approach Lille on hazard. Aw also needs a new left back who could be Enrique or marcelo but I would rateher have vermaelen that wouldn't cost a thing and focus the funds on benzema and biglia.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Thiago is not leavin Barca, why would Barca sell there most promising youngster to have to go thru the same thing they have to get CF back? Nasri will fill CF central role, mata and Gervinho will do the SN role.

Agree0 Disagree0

But is nasri strong enough to do fabregas role by himself nasri is more of an attacking direct player as where fabregas controls the plays and picks out the passes and through balls, maybe wilshere can do that but it would be nice to see a new midfielder as nasri looks set to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2011 09:37:51
No1 really knows what Wenger is going to do, its all guess work, personally:
I would take Mata as Nasri wing replacement as i believe he will stay & play in the middle as it looks clear that Cesc is off. Jags would be ideal as need an English CB & he will prob play him wiv TV5 if he doesnt move him to LB & if thats the case and he does go for another CB i think it will be Mertesacker.
No more CM i dont think as Frimpong will challenge Song, Nasri, Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby for a spot & Rosicky.
Dont think he will signa ST either as RVP, Gervinho, Walcott, Arshavin, Chamakh, Vela will be his lot, i personally would love another like Falcao or Benzema but doubt it.
Parker would be nice aswell but doubt it as no re-sale value & we all know Wenger loves that & i would take a punt on Enrique but again reckon he will stick with Gibbs & Traore.
Ed - Would u go FOR Chamberlain at Southampton or would u leave him there and try in Jan wiv loan back for 6 months? & do you think we need another GK as i dont think Mannone is doog enough, Almunia is leaving & the 2 Poles are only other & Fab in my opinion is cracking number 2 & Szczesny is learning and confident but as weve seen is prone 2 a mistake in his early days?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I share a similar opinion. My guess is a CB (usual suspects), midfielder (the mata saga is gaining momentum) and a striker. I personally think its more likely campbell only as I doubt AW will splash £25m on benzema if he is not considered 1st choice (taking into account tactics played and current strikers). Unless there is a player swap deal in the offing I cant see Benzema joining.

Agree0 Disagree0

Know one knows what Mr.Wenger will do,

juan mata is on the verge of completing a moved after Valencia have accepted a stunning 20million. He will be announced as a arsenal during next week. As for Cesc, A.W has told Barcelona they have only have till friday, but my sources tell me Barcelona will be ready to bid a 34+Thiago Alcantra+ 2million bonus. A.W will accept the deal as he fabregas has told arsenal f.c that he want to leave. Wenger will accept defeat but also will be happy for getting Alcantra on the deal as the young boy got lot to prove. Also Alex-oxlade-chamberlin will not be signings this summer as Scott parker could be the replacement for denilson who currently on a loan deal.

If the deal was agreed, I think Wenger would push it through today so he could please the fans tomorrow and sunday

Joel Campbell has finally agreed to join Arsenal.

After quoting the President of Campbell s club, Saprissa, as saying that negotiations were still ongoing, Costa Rican news channel Teletica have now confirmed an agreement is in place.

Perhaps in an attempt to end some speculation and allow the player to focus on the forthcoming U-20 World Cup, his international coaches told the station that the player will join The Gunners once the tournament has ended.

I still believe Wenger Knows... The man has brought success to our club that I never thought possible and he is fully aware that in this current climate we have to reinvest in the squad to remain at the top.

I believe this will happen:

Out:
Eboue £4m
Bendtner £9m
Clichy £7m
Denilson Loan
Squillaci £2m
Almunia £1m
Emmanuel-Thomas £1m
Fabgregas £36m
Total = £60m

In:
Gervihno £10m
Jenkinson £1m
Juan-Mata £14m
Jagielka £14m
Enrique £6m
Total = £45m

Meaning that Wenger will have rebuilt the squad, added fresh talent, got rid of dead wood and players that don't care about the club.Â

Whilst still allowing youth players to break through and more importantly making a £15m profit before the window closes on transfers which I would hope he will have in reserve incase things need a refresh in January in the defensive midfield area.

Keep the faith... What you think Ed?

I dont think we will get enrique, because ive heard plenty of clubs are after him and not once have i heard wenger has even looked at him.. i think if we do get him it will be last pickings after all of the main transfers in the leagues are done.

Need to add a striker and a central midfielder, then it will be all good.

As an Arsenal fan i think Arsenal are a good team with a great attitude, but we won t win anything unless AW introduce a bit of steel to their team, show me a Vieira, Adams, Campbell, Keown, in the present squad, there is none. These men would throw themselves in front of a charging bull to stop the opposition. Thats why Arsenal were great.

Been hearing that if valencia want to keep Mata then they will have to raise his wages to at least 70,000 p/w and they dont want to do that as its too much money. Therefore arsenal should sign him.
