Have heard whispers of a move for Gabriel Torje. Also negotiations have begun between Arsenal and Koln over the move of Lukas Podolski. Wenger has prioritized a back up striker this January and Podolski, Sow and Doumbia have been lined up. Also moves for Mario Gotze and Marvin Martin are still possibilities. Jan Vertonghen will more than likely be signed for defensive cover.
Top Gooner.

ed have u changed any thoughts about arsenal transfer rumours recently...

the media are linking us to some high profile players ofcourse we are not getting any of them!

but since wenger has said gotze is wanted all the media has diverted towards him...

whats your thoughts on possible transfers?

such as
Olivier Giroud
podolski
damiao
etc

seems like we will have some sort of activity for sure in january and most likely the midfield if wenger gets one of the high profile players which is hard to believe {Ed002's Note - Giroud I have no thoughts about. I don't see any chance of Podolski going to a club where he cannot be sure of a starting place - it could well put his international career at risk. Spurs and Arsenal have shown an interest but he could decide to move to Turkey with Galatasary or possibly Russia with interest from several clubs including Anzhi and Zenit. If he does move to England, Arsenal is certainly the most likely destination. Leandro Damiao seems to be of interest to several clubs at the moment not least AC Milan who want him to replace Cassano but need to free up a non EU quota spot to buy him. Spurs and Arsenal have apparently have taken a look recently as have Porto and PSG. His agent is talking up offers but that will probably not be anything to do with transfer fees, just possible wages. Over the summer there was also interest from Juve, Roma, Lyon, Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona have shown some interest in the past two months.}

Arsenal have confirmed that they might be after Podolski. If you have them as a friend on facebook today they set a status saying he could be a transfer target. but then again they have done this in the past and not signed anyone but make of it what you will :D

Believable2 Unbelievable9

How can you confirm they might be interested? not real confirmation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal have confirmed nothing.

Ed, any thoughts on Arsenal going after Papiss Demba Cisse in January? I believe he was looking to leave in the summer, and now with Freiburg facing relegation, he wouldn't command as much money as say, Podolski.

--dk {Ed002's Note - I know that Bayern Munich have enquired again about Papiss Cisse but it is very quiet on interest from the EPL. Things may change and I am sure Freiburg and the player will be open to offers.}

Arsenal have been told that Borussia Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze will not be sold for less than £30m. The Gunners had hoped to tie up a deal for the Germany international for £25m in advance of the transfer window opening. Arsenal are also chasing £25m-rated Internacional and Brazil striker Leandro Damiao, 22. Arsene Wenger is considering a move for Germany international forward Lukas Podolski, 26. The Arsenal boss faces competition from Italian side Lazio for the Cologne striker in the January transfer window.

I am not sure about other rumours and how true they are especially the interest in the players with pleas.

But Gotze is real. Wenger wants him...he has seen something in him that seems to have possessed him to send scouts for all BVB games. Its not to scout other players.

I think wenger has seem some visionary lineup of gotze, wilshere and song.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please dont do another mata and fuss about an extra few million and then let someone else steal him

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata stated that he opted for chelsea over arsenal as he felt that their ambition was greater and the fact that torres persuaded him to join them. We did meet the fee valuation but he rejected the terms and then the deadline passed and it was blamed that arsenal did not pull it off.

Gotze is different, he has stated its either arsenal or barcelona. Dortmund play a very open flow game just like arsenal and barcelona and that what excites him the most.

Hazard has dropped of wengers radar, his price and the fact real madrid and chelsea have kept contact with his agents has put us in the unfavourable position.

Arsenal have a long standing working relationship with dortmund in the bundesliga and they will use that connection to their advantage, hence wenger or whoever is negotiating terms is trying to get a contract offer agreed so that we can get him in january.

Let me just say this. if we do grab gotze, not only do we instantly become challengers but at his age his exploits are second to only one magician...Leo Messi.

He has scored more goals at his age compared to messi but his game efficiency over a season is only second to the worlds best player at the same age.

Hazard is more ronaldo and gotze is more messi is you get my comparism. personality traits are humble and hardworking, compared to hazard who has been known to have an attitude issue.

We all doubted wenger would make drastic changes in the summer. But he did. he sold who he had to as in the fringe players, he tried his best to keep our best players and he recuited without spending crazy money in panic mode.

From what i know and have been told...(no i dont know wenger) we will be looking to offload arshavin and rosicky along with squillachi and chamakh in jan.

So if we can gather 20 mill from these players i dont see why wenger cant buy gotze and another forward.

Its not rocket science we are lacking attacking options and right now we are close to the top 4 but just outside, we need something to catapault us into the top 4 and gain an advantage over our rivals.

Get both hazard and gotze and have young messi and young ronaldo, that'd do for me

Borussia Dortmund have signed the latest German teen sensation, paving the way for Mario Gotze to move to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has been chasing the attacking midfielder for some time, according to reports, and the latest signing for BVB could mean it finally goes ahead.

Dortmund have previously rejected all talk of a transfer for Gotze to Emirates Stadium, but this latest signing could indicate they have resigned themselves to losing the 19-year-old.

Arsenal will be delighted to hear that 17-year-old Energie Cottbus midfielder Leonardo Bittencourt will join Borussia at the start of next season.

Bittencourt is an attacking midfielder with dual German and Brazilian citizenship and considered to be one of the hottest young prospects in Germany.

The Mirror had reported that Arsene Wenger was ready to sanction a £30million bid in the January transfer window for Gotze.

This now seems unlikely now that the Germany internationals possible replacement will not join until next season, as well as his ineligibility in the Champions League should he move to Emirates Stadium.

Michael Zorc, BVBs sporting director confirmed the signing of Bittencourt during a press conference on Thursday.

Leonardo will join up with the team on 1st July, he said. We're pleased with the fact we've been able to bring another top talent to BVB.

Should Goetze sign for Arsenal, he would join compatriot Per Mertesacker at the Emirates Stadium.

lukas Podolski has encouraged Arsenal to keep up their pursuit by describing Arsene Wenger's side as a 'top club'.
Wenger is keen to sign the Germany striker from Cologne for £20million in January amid uncertainty about Robin van Persie's future at the club.
Podolski has been dismayed by his side's poor performances and talks to extend his contract beyond 2013 have stalled.

Heading for the exit? Lukas Podolski ( is unhappy with life at Cologne

Asked about Arsenal's interest, the 26-year-old said with a smile: 'Arsenal are a top club. They have a good team and play right at the top level in England.'
Cologne are just five points off the bottom of the Bundesliga after losing four of their last six games.

Fighting talk: Podolski insists he is not obliged to stay at his current club
They are already out of the German cup and are not playing in Europe this season, which is a far cry from the level of club Podolski thought he was joining when he left Bayern Munich in 2009.
Earlier this week he admitted he could his hometown club, saying: 'My family and friends may live here, but if I am in top condition, then I think I could fit into any side in Europe. I am not forced to stay only in Cologne.'

Are Lille still interested in Park, or would there be in interested in the Invisible Man Chamakh? {Ed002's Note - Right now Lille have set their sights elsewhere, particularly if Sow were to leave. But Chamakh could be heading to Espanyol.}
