Podolski isnt coming,he's staying to try and get on the Germany squad for European Championships(caught offside),seems pretty beliveable tho

Believable29 Unbelievable17

After todays performance we wont attract any decent players.

Agree1 Disagree1

One bad performance does not put players off coming to us

Agree1 Disagree0

Look on the arsenal web page on sky sporrs

Agree0 Disagree0

The thought of playing in a team with Johan Djourou in might though

Agree2 Disagree0

Good players will be happy to come to us, great players wont look our way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Caught Offside are full of s**te... Why people remotely believe them is beyond me. They got it from The Guardian who in turn made it up for clicks.

There's nothing at all in the German Media about it & Podolski himself on SS Germany said he wants to come to England w/ AFC his pref' choice.

=Miss Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with Miss A on this- if you know anything about football you will know that CaughtOffside are utter balls, so is the guardian, so is talksport, and so is this new piece of shyte Give Me Football - who site all their sources aaaaasss....wait foooorrrrr iiittt......talksport.

I don't believe for one second this was said anywhere.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Caught offside = Fairy light land stories.

Maybe the author is new to football rumour, and will quickly learn that this is a b****cks source lol.

And to everybody who defended Mertesaker and said he was quiet and effective.... Today is another game to prove his main drawbacks:

1 - Backpasses are far too short and put keeper in trouble without fail

2 - Can't defend corners leaves post and marking is terrible

3 - Has about as much pace as my gran and gives up on players when they have passed him because he got in too close to make a failed tackle

Cahill or Samba or just anybody with PL experience who is better than this guy, he is not good enough unless he is a backup option. Even then i'd rather see myself defending set pieces at least I can stay with my marker or stick to my post.

Bloody crap German defender!! Lol hating it we were top4 for all of about 20 mins

CS

Agree1 Disagree0

Roskiy shud of attempted the header the game may of still been 1-1 with he atleast tried

Agree0 Disagree0

Should have could have, it's 2008-09 all over again!! Groundhog season lol.

Let's just see yesterday we were 6 points off a title challenge, now we are top6 again.

It's one of those seasons where we depend too much on other teams doing badly, and freak results. Well we have had a fair few of those so let's hold fire!

Still reckon we will end 4th Tottenham will fall away and Chelsea will pick themselves up again, so will Arsenal as happens every single year

Liverpool Football Club have asked Arsenal FC permission to speak to Theo Walcott after contract talks broke down between Walcott and AFC. Sources from LFC claim the club are determined to bring the player into the club as soon as possible.

Believable27 Unbelievable22

Hahha

Agree0 Disagree0

They wouldnt let them talk unless a fee had been agreed which it hasnt, get a life you fool!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell him, 85k a week, what a joke he is...

Agree1 Disagree0

The post says "they've asked permission to speak to the player." so perhaps you go calling someone a "fool" you should understand what you just read you FOOL.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ill drop him off along with Squillaci and Djourou what a joke these players are.

Agree1 Disagree0

Walcott wouldnt go to liverpool beides A.W wouldnt let him go to a prem team

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott is a Liverpool fan

Agree0 Disagree0

If Liverpool caame in with the money AW whats for him or a price he fells happy to sell at i think Walcott will go because he has supportes Liverpool since he was a child.

Agree0 Disagree1

A true professional wouldnt make choices on his career based on what football shirt he wore when he was 8 years old!

Agree1 Disagree0

Walcott's a Liverpool fan you douche of course he'd go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the money. He's fluffed too many big chances this season already. He doesn't even have injuries to use as an excuse. If it wasn't for Theo's sloppy decision-making and poor finishing we'd have won the last two games comfortably. "Blah blah, I wanna play as a striker... I wanna play through the middle" As we've seen, one-on-one with the keeper, he frequently bottles it. Now he's gonna be shown up by a 34 year old King. That man knows how to put the ball in the net.

Slick Mick

Agree1 Disagree0

Comon with yer s**te rumours.do ye really think liverpool are gonna get stung with another overpriced dung heap after andy carroll?

Agree0 Disagree1

Why do Liverpool fans want Walcott, he is p1ss poor.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is absolutely ridiculous. walcott has had a great season as a winger, his poor performances over the last couple of games do not negate that. he is obviously not cut out to be a CF, but this does not mean he is not a very valuable wing forward.

we have only heard speculation about him demanding 85k a week, and this post is equally unfounded. we only really know that Chelsea have had some long-term interest in him, and if sold he would be a massive loss to a midfield that has provided excellent service for our 1-man strike force this season.

as for the 'liverpool fan' argument, i cannot think of anything more moronic. remember that Defoe and Bale are arsenal fans! footballers are professionals and do not run away to their childhood club on a whim.

stop getting carried away with nonsense rumours and drawing simplistic conclusions.

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

Load of rubbish, wat kinda idot posts tis CRAP.

Agree0 Disagree0

After Liverpool have proven with their purchases of over-hyped english players

40m please, he's better than Carroll

Agree0 Disagree0

Complete lie

Agree0 Disagree0

Take the money, please!! Walcott has never come close to Gooners expectations, seriously it would free up some cash for players that could do a decent job for us AND the ox looks like the real deal, rob

Agree0 Disagree0

I will drive him myself if it would insure this went through, probably the most frustrating player we have had for years and weve had a few

Not sure how reliable but according to the metro, Lyon full Aly Cissokho could be made available for loan, if so, i say snap him up now, would be ideal for us

N. Wales gunner

Believable20 Unbelievable5

Read on the I9nternet that he was linked with us so yeah its believable {Ed002's Note - A loan is unlikely - but less than 10M euros would likely get him. He would need to be first choice as well.}

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair ed, he would probably first choice, santos is more attacking, gibbs is too injury prone, so yeah i say its a perfect fit

Agree0 Disagree0

This would be a good move, but it would be very un-wenger to 'jeopardise' Gibbs' and Santos' first team claims by permanently signing another LB. even if he is french and very good value. i think a loan move for someone less ambitious is more likely.

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of Bridge, Taiwo and Cissokho i would like either Taiwo or Cissokho, both in my opinion would be first choice without injuries at Arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why not bring Cissohko in and move Santos up to left wing? He would be good their IMO he is skillful and a good crosser and has an eye for goal...

Shezza, Coquelin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Djourou, Arteta, Ramsey, Song, Walcott, Gervinho, Van Persie.

Arsenal Team 2 play Fulham

Believable15 Unbelievable10

Pissed off so much that the ox isnt startin or even in the squad, f**king disgrace!

belfastgooner

Agree0 Disagree0

They make me sick!

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of dross in this squad, no depth what so ever. Gervinho and Walcott were absolutely terrible. Djourou may have cost us 4th place (maybe a bit dramatic) but thats another defender we can't use I think that means we only have Koscielny, Miquel, Mertesacker and Squillaci as recognised defenders. Walcott should only be used as a sub if he is not going to put in performances, Gervinho is too safe in his position as well because Arshavin is so bad. The team still needs an overhaul and Wenger is performing miracles keeping the worst squad of players i have seen be able to compete for 4th place.

That said keep the faith as long as we keep Wenger we can progress.

P.S loved seeing Adams shouting 'Come On The Arsenal!' at the Emirates.

Agree0 Disagree0

AGREED why the hell wasn't Oxy playing he would have at least scored one of those gilt edged chances that Gervinho and Walcott turned their noses up on!

Mertesaker hope he gets replaced and Squillaci and Djourou were both bottom feeder quality. Once again why do people keep saying Merts is quality he isn't any better than Senderos was and he was s**te!

Just had a mooch around twitter - saw something that said we have agreed a 12.5m deal for Podolski, and saw others that say we're 'close to agreeing' a 13.5m deal for him.

Either way these rumours seem to be red hot.

I am crossing everything I can!

Raz

Believable22 Unbelievable18

All i've seen so far is that he needs to have a sinus operation but he is delaying it so that he can continue with the training over the winter for koln. Not brilliant news.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Talksport Claim Milan Want Him

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes just said that he wont move because he will not risk his euro place so is staying til the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

Just saw something else on twitter saying that Podolski is apparently not going anywhere this Jan but will move in the summer. Looks like we may not be getting him after all. I hate this, I really do.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

It's BS made up by The Guardian. 1 Day after Podolski said on Sky Sports Germany he wants England move and that AFC is his pref choice.

=Miss Arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukas Podolski has ruled out a January transfer to Arsenal. Kon Schramm, the representative of the Köln striker, told the Guardian that a move in the Bundesliga winter break is "all but impossible", citing the player's reluctance to endanger his chances of featuring for Germany in the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine this year. "Köln has priority right now; we have time [for everything else] in the summer," said Schramm.

Despite the Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger's protestations to the contrary, there has been contact with the Polish-born forward in recent weeks. But Podolski, who has scored 14 goals in 16 league games this season, is wary of trading his automatic starting place for a new beginning in the Premier League at this stage of the campaign, especially in the light of Robin van Persie's outstanding form.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we bid enough he'll be sold - all this chat from a "representative" is just that - chat; and him being concerned he'll lose his place for germany is just total bollox - he's a top player for them, of course he's going to the euro's, and as well as that he will deffinately get games for us because gervinho's going to acn for 6 weeks
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmmm I'd be annoyed if we don't buy him but Summer seems likely...

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

We will never see podolski in an Arsenal shirt. That's just how it is! People are surfing the clouds if they think he will arrive this summer!

Upson last season, Rodallega this season. If these are the types of players we are associated with then we are in serious trouble.
Nick.

Believable24 Unbelievable11

Did we sign Upson? No so does that not tell you something. Stop worrying and look forward to the rest of the season and maybe top 3 finish.

Agree0 Disagree0

With you all the way on this mate the simple fact that some fans think Rodallega would be a good signing do not know what the hell they are talking about. Wigan create chances every game and as my stats clearly show he is the most wasteful striker in the league by a million miles. As I said before the bottom teams have strikers who can't score. Wigan create chances just like every prem side, the reason they suck is because Hugo is pants. 142 shots 8 goals is a disgrace. How can anyone want him at Arsenal?!

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Be fair to hugo, he was amazing before Wigan. If he gets decent service he will be amazing again.

Goal ratio 1 in every 2 before Wigan, and he is still their best goalscorer even though he hasn't hit form since his goal that kept them in the prem last season.

oh yeah that one :)

Not claiming to be in the know or anything but from what I've read here's the summary of events.

Frimpong confirmed loan to Wolves,
Henry confirmed in for a 2 month loan,
LB loan (Bridge being mooted but I hope not)
Podolski deal is close for between 10-15m

From the sound of it this is about it although there are whispers of a mystery permanent deal coming.

Also some 'news' of Walcott 'at WAR' with Arsenal over a 4 year 85k/wk contract with Chelsea (lol) and Liverpool (lol!) apparently going to bid upwards of 20m. I don't know whether or not to be concerned, I think we need to keep him.

Thoughts?

Believable27 Unbelievable9

If someone was to pay 20m for Walcott, I drive him to the club himself. Very average player, unlikely imo, to live up to his potential mainly because he is, and always will be played on the wing.

G95

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to keep Walcott. He's improved a lot this season. Although he's still showing some inconsistency, he's a much more dynamic, confident, and effective player now.

Wenger has showed so much faith in Walcott in playing him when he didn't deserve a spot for years just to develop him. If he doesn't sign a new contract right when he is finally being productive then he will be worse than ACole and Nasri in my opinion. The kid has sucked for years but Arsenal has always backed him. Turning tail and leaving when he's now good would be a huge slap in the face.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reus in, $ Walcott $ out. Win Win.

JW

Agree0 Disagree0

If someone offers us 20m I would take it and run. Yes We would only see about 12m when it's all said and done but that's what we paid for The Ox so, in the voice of Alan Partridge, 'Cashback'!

He is a lifelong Liverpool fan though. Bare that in mind. I'd prefer it if we sold him and got someone else, I am simply bored with how he has one good game and 4 pretty poor ones. I know so many people who can dribble a football better than he can, who have better touch than him. It's silly really. 20m, take it and run. He can f*** off with a pay rise, he should be honoured we stuck by him and gave him his chances when, like this season, the whole world wants to see someone else in his place.

Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott needs to be in a team where there is competition for his place, so that he is forced to improve. I dont care how chamberlain is training, on match performance alone, he should be ahead of walcott. And yeh, if its true about the wages thing..85k? walcott considers himself an experienced senior member of the arsenal team, and the sad thing is, its true. 22, unreliable, cocky and overpaid. get rid.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah I think Walcott opens up a lot of new dimensions and he's deadly when fit. End of, for me, I think he's essential. Wenger may feel the same I hope.

This is obviously a moot point but I am 100% hoping the kid stays, love him

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to keep him!he and robin playes very well together, and if get new contract for him,im sure that robin will also sign too...theo is one of our best players!!

finland gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow somebody else other than me who thinks he is worth more on the pitch than he is in Stan Kroenke's wallet!

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't believe what I'm seeing here.

How can you diss Theo like that after all that he's done for Arsenal (on and off the pitch)... plus considering he's only just blooming into what he could become.

He is a true gunner through and through. We have to keep hold of such players at all costs.

Shame on you... is it just because he failed to take his super chance against QPR on staurday??
Know what - even RVP wastes opportunities? Would you get rid of him too?

Support the club, its values and all the players that share the same values.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are getting about 5% of his pace at the moment. there are very little through balls for him. but it's a little bit his fault too as he doesn't make that many good runs either. but i hope someday he starts making them more!

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott isn't good enough to start for us - i think he's an excellent impact player, someone to bring on against worn out legs, but he is very limited, has little composure and isn't consistent enough to justify those sort of wages - £20m would be too much to turn down, so long as its invested in a real quality winger like munain/shaqiri.
AG

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest, If he wasn't so fast he wouldn't be playing in the premiership. Walcott is too one-dimensional, I would take 20m anyday of the week, considering I think AOC is already on his level but has more technical ability and has more drive and confidence about him, not to mention he is built like a tank! If we sell him, replace him with Podolski and put Gerv at RW (but AOC whilst he is at ACON)

Colney Bandit

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought we were in a NEED of a winger. would selling walcott help us? no. we don't need that 20m, we need a winger. imo we may need 2 already if arshavin doesn't improve (which i believe might be possible after seeing qpr game). count man u:s wingers. they're having a real competition on that department and that's making them play better, they're always on the edge of dropping to bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep Theo until Summer see where he is after Euros.

I kind of dislike him. How much did Mata cost? Look at the effect he has every single game... Theo has no effect in our build up play and his crossing is weak and his passing is weak. Upwards of 20, take it. But in the Summer.

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't support any player earning any of the inflated wages, however this is the norm so pay the 85k ... if that isn't good enough to supplement his income from his literary skills then sell him to the highest bidder! The author has always professed his desire to play for Liverpool so let them take him. 20m seems like a fair price and would enable us to bring in a footballer with better positional sense, goal scoring ability and technique. Walcott is and always has been a player who can beat players with sheer pace. Well Traore stopped him against QPR enough said! He has no composure in front of goal. His chances to goals scored conversion rate is poor. His crossing ability is even worse. Missing chances like that against QPR is normal for him and he rates himself a centre forward? Wenger clearly doesn't or he'd play him there. I have always thought he was overrated, a luxury, that sadly has never consistently produced, in either an Arsenal or an England shirt ... Pennant without the badboy reputation. We have a hungry young Ox ready and waiting to fill the gap who isn't full of his self importance (seems rare for a young English player and I include our Jack in that group!)

Theo can stay but only if he is willing to compete and improve. If it's all about the "money, money, money" then f*** off! Don't want you don't need you. Less talented players like Arteta are prepared to drop salary in place of being show cased in an Arsenal shirt. So Walcott should show the same humility. He would be nothing if it wasn't for us. Get a grip and man up or go prostitute yourself somewhere else. The only player to leave and succeed has been Fabragas everyone without exception is playing there trade at a lower level now and nearly all of them will admit it. Nasri is demonstrating that the money destroys your desire (just look at his woeful display against Sunderland). Take what is offered, sign now not this time next year or leave.

CrossRoss (loosing his Christmas cheer!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but some of the things said about Theo here are laughable. What exactly has he done to earn a place in our starting 11. Gervinho has played less games then him this year, in his first year in English football and he has scored more and assisted more. Theo has one good game every 10 while the rest he spends on his own on the wing doing nothing really. I think his pace is the only thing he has got, and most the time he loses control or runs it out of play. I think there are better options out there. But on the other hand he is a part of the team and clearly has a bond with most of the players. Would upset the dressing room losing another player

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

He cant shoot to save his life, sell him to lille or dortmund in exchange + money for hazard or goetze

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair, a few players have left arsenal and gone on to great success. Henry got the champions league the season after he left us, van bronkhurst aswell, hleb @ barca aswell, fabregas this year most likely, nasri/clichy/toure @ city this year most likely for the league..its not all doom and gloom for people who leave us.

Daniel

Agree0 Disagree0

All of the players that leave us go on to be successful apart from the really bad signings we would rather forget.

It's just that they always SAY they are unhappy and would never have left IF a b and c had happened.

Tripe for the media really. Makes no difference.

CS

Agree0 Disagree0

THeo hasn't got a football cell in his body - he is a sprinte with 1 less trick than Joe Cole (Who only has 1 trick). People will still be saying he is young when he collects his bus pass - look at Fab, The OX, Wiltshire, Gibbs and the list goes on of payers that we have with better footballing brains. Walcott wants to plkay through the centre and a team with no strikers should consider this - whay doesn't AW? Maybe because he saw the 1on1 against Fulham?
You don't have to be the best if your brain thinks fast - look at Kanu, gangly, no speed but his brain was phenomenal.

Problem with Wingers is we were spoiled having Pires, Lungberg, Nasri etc and now the quality is not there - the guys we have aretoo inconsistent, may make some wonder pass but nothing for 3 or 4 games after that
