As Ed clearly stated we didn't get Benzema due to Madrid not getting a replacement. Do we know who was lined up as the replacement? if so could this not have been an option for us?

I understand aguero he's a perfect fit for real but muller he's very good I know but not to dissimilar to benzema. Not doubting the info by the way just feel aguero and real are the perfect match

Hello Ed002, can you share some info about what happend in the attempt of getting Higuain?
As a personal opinion, I find weird to put him over Cavani as a second option if a high price was an issue too.

I was talking to an fellow gunners fan in Majorca during the Newcastle game and he said he knew 100% that we wasn't going to get a forward in this window he said he knew someone in the board and he said they are going for higuin in January but I didn't think much off it lol

Also on just signing anyone

BUT - none of this should be a surprise to our transfer team

SO - what went wrong in your opinion as it went South on us real bad

{Ed002's Note - I think that there were very clear targets and some options the club had in mind. Certainly in terms of striker Benzema and Higuain were top of the list, as we knew early on Dybala and Martinez were not going to happen. In midfield the very clear target was Fekir, once it was clear he was not going to happen I think Arsenal should have pressed for Calhanoglu who had also been of interest - that was probably a mistake. Defensive midfield, I suggested that Arsenal would wait on Carvalho and that is what they appear to be doing. In January there will may also be interest from Real Madrid. Centre back - another mistake and something the club could have resolved with interest in Romagnoli, Abdennour and St Et's Loic Perrin. I can't say why it ended as it did.

It is hard to see how there won't be a need to add a couple of players in January - but then it will be far more difficult, except perhaps Carvalho and Higuain.}

That is one of the most infuriating things about wenger, Why on earth is he targeting a player who will cost upwards of £20m easily when he plays a position that we have more than enough depth in with the likes of Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Ramsey, even sanchez can play in the number 10 role. Surely we should be targeting a solid CDM and a world class striker. I know there's not many available, but as you've already said Ed, Carvalho and Higuain. I personally would much rather wait for those 2 players to become available and spend the money there than buy YET ANOTHER Central Attacking midfielder.

You certainly haven't watched Fekir play. He's simply outstanding. He breezes past players, his control is so good, he's young as well. I would love him to come to my beloved club.
