{Ed022's note - Brand new player profile on Matias Suarez of Anderlecht. Linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in recent times. The profile itself isn't the longest, but I'm hoping the general comments make up for it. There is also a new profile on Olivier Giroud for all of you if you so choose to have a look! www.player-profiles.co.uk - Thanks all.}

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Thanks Ed I've been enjoying them. Have you considered putting highlights vids of some sort on there, or putting them together? Or are we able to in the comments? I imagine you guys are a bit busy,,,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed022's note - in response to the previous post, it's funny you should say that as the exact updates are hopefully taking place this weekend. The aim is to have a 'Player Videos' section and we will embed YouTube videos into them so all you fans can also see the player in action. However, it's important to note that you can't judge a player on one or two videos. Thanks mate.}

Hey guys I want to know who is Holtby.. is he any good what position does he play? and a comparison please? I'Ve heard alot that we have basically signed him and Podolski. Cheers

TomArsenal

Believable3 Unbelievable8

Hey Tom, here's a little info for you;

Holtby is an attacking midfielder who plays for Schalke 04, he's capable on the left or right of midfield or even playing off the forward like Van der Vaart, but is most comfortable (and in my eyes most effective) playing in a role similar to that of Nasri as a attacking central mid.

His father is English and he speaks it better than average for a lot of foreign players, he's also an avid Everton fan and had in the past expressed a desire to play for them some time in his career, he's captained Germany at every level bar the full national squad he was eligible to play for England but said even though he considered it, it would of been awkward having been Germany's youth captain and decided to play for Germany.

He's only around 5"8/9 in height do not a big player by any means but makes up for it with a good turn of pace and fantastic dribbling, he has a shot on him too, but is more likely to assist than score from what I've seen/heard although he's only 21 so that could change.

Hope that helped!

I remember reading on here before that we were looking into signing Farfan as his contract was expiring at the end of the season. I was wondering if an Ed anyone else could give me an update on whether or not we are likely to make a move for him in the summer? And what the truth is about Podolski as I've read some reports he is ours but Koln don't want us to announce it just yet and others that he hasn't signed had a medical or even agreed personal terms, if this is the case hope we sign him before the Euro's or we may face more competition for him.
Thanks
Will {Ed002's Note - Assuming Farfan does move, I expect Italy with Inter, Juventus, Palermo or Roma most likely. However, interest from England will not be out of the question and several clubs (Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea to name but three) are looking for wide players. Schalke made it clear that they would sell in January for 7M euros, but a niggling injury kept buyers away. As such, he will be available for a free transfer this summer. I am sure that Podolski will move to Arsenal. Agreement had been reached save for two matters related to insurance and no doubt they can be worked out. An announcement will not do anyone any favours.}

Believable7 Unbelievable0

We have Walcott, the Ox, Gervinho, arshavin(we might keep him) hopefully Podolski, Rosicky who can all play wide.
We don't need farfan!
It's through the middle we need strengthening

Agree0 Disagree0

You know Spurs will be interested too, they always are.

Thank you for replying and clearing it up for me :). Will

Wenger has been suspenden by UEFA for 3 (UEFA) matches. A real joke to me. It once again shows that they are pretty much an anti-Arsenal organisation...

Stefan

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Who isnt you goon er

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger was right to complain, if he wasn't the idiots at FIFA would of given him an 8 game ban.

D

Agree0 Disagree0

We dont bribe them as much as the other clubs
spanner

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger was bang on, the ref that night was a total muppet. UEFA should look at their appointments first before banning someone who has more European experience than all of them put together. Bias against English teams again, FACT not conspiracy.

Agree0 Disagree0

He should just stick to throwing his water bottle around!!!

Apparently we are looking at bidding for pastore in the summer.

Wouldn't be my first choice as not been amazing in the french league and bloody expensive but not a bad option if we don't get gotze (very unlikely) or Belhanda (my personal preference)

Guess PSG are loaded and so could be getting a star midfielder in so he could be available

Essex Boi

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Pastore - as if we can afford the transfer fee or his wages. Never going to happen.

Credible source has given me some further information.

Martin Wiesner, the agent of Fabianski has been in talks with 3 clubs from Germany who are trying to negotiate a season long loan deal for the goalkeeper next season. The identity of the clubs is not yet known however it is said that Fabianki is encouraging his agent to push through a deal. Martin Wiesner is still trying to identify additional clubs that may have an interest and I personally will assume no deal will be done until the end of the season. No idea what the outcome of this will be. I have always assumed that loan deals are arranged by clubs and not agents, so there could be a possibility that a deal could involve specific conditions that allow the deal to become permanent. Who knows? The info is accurate however the interpretation of it I will leave to you.

Further information is that a bid from an unknown English club has been accepted by Atletico Madrid for youngster Borja González. Arsenal are said to have scouted the player this season and the person that intercepted this information firmly believes the player will be heading to the Emirates.

Arsenal have sent a scout to watch Montolivo who is on a free in the Summer...what are peoples thoughts on him? I dont know much about him

Marty

Believable17 Unbelievable5

Isnt he all set to go to Ac Milan?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yup he is heading to Milan....

CT

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant be certain, or arsenal wouldnt bother sending a scout

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be a good addition, he is strong on the ball and has quick feet...the only thing is his temperament can wave sometimes when he is being crowded out of a game...he has a good range of passes in him too
ES

Agree0 Disagree0

Worth a look if any chance of a free

Agree0 Disagree0

Where can you find out the details for the locations of arsenal scouts?

I mean 'Arsenal have sent a scout to watch montolivio'... have they really? how do you know that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Person asking the source...

From The Mirror "Arsene Wenger's assistant Boro Primorac went to Fiorentina's 2-2 draw with Genoa to watch the 27-year-old in action."

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be watching nay of those players ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

Last time I checked 22 players are on the field how do we know it wasn't jovetic he was looking at?

Arsenal have been asked to delay an announcement confirming the arrival of Lukas Podolski because his current club Cologne are fearful of a supporters' backlash.

The Gunners had wanted to announce the £10.9million signing this week after completing negotiations. Standard Sport understands a four-year deal worth around £100,000 a week has been agreed between the two parties but Arsenal are sensitive to Cologne's situation and are happy to delay making the deal public.

Cologne are keen to have a 'departure press conference' which would allow Podolski to say goodbye to the club's supporters and give their management a chance to explain the decision to  sell their star player who has scored  16 goals in the Bundesliga this season — only Mario Gomez, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Robert Lewandowski have managed to get more.

Believable17 Unbelievable4

Haven't you just announced it?

Agree0 Disagree0

" Sorry all, we are not going to stand up and tell you we have just signed Podolski on a 100k -a-week deal in case it upsets people.." haha love media BS I really do.

I still don't get how this deal can legally be done.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it me or is the season not finished yet ?? Get a grip people

Agree0 Disagree0

Also if cologne go down then will that not affect the price? Surely Arsene would not pass up the opportunity to get him for even less.

In Arsene I Trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

I seriously do not understand why people think there are legal problems with such a deal. Bayern agreed a deal for Shaqiri for £11-12m in February and he has already posed with the Bayern shirt. Seriously do people not leave their caves or something?

Agree0 Disagree0

Odd for Koln to ask Arsenal not to discuss it. It seems they're the ones who can't keep quiet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont they have newspapers and radio in germany like?

i think they know he is leaving and where he is going.

-Homesick-

Agree0 Disagree0

There are no legal problems if the deal is done between both clubs. If their is an agreement between a player party and another club it breaches Uefa and fifa laws.

Koln chairman Werner Wolf has reportedly informed the club's board members that star forward Lukas Podolski will join Arsenal at the end of the season, according to Express.

I was looking at our player stack for us against QPR and our last game we played 4231 like this:

...............Szcz.............
Sag.....Kos.....Verm...Gib
.........Song...Arteta.......
....Theo.....Ros........Ox..
................RVP.............

Got me thinking about where Jack is going to fit in and I reckon he might rotate with Song. Arteta is like our anchor and distributor from defence to midfield and on clean-up duty, whereas Song does that but plays further up more and plays the creative role which I believe are his instructions. This is also what Jack's role is, and I have a feeling if Rosicky is on form he's never losing his place! Imagine Song, Arteta and Rosicky rotating to Wilshere Arteta and Rosicky, rotating evenly between games or halves. Wouldn't surprise me if this happens. {Ed025's Note - imo he will replace rosicky..

Believable2 Unbelievable13

Rosicky and arteta are team players. There are few players in the world who understand the managers view point more then them.

if wenger needs them off the bench they will do it...all they want is for the team to win.

Song, wilshere, ramsey to start next season...ive seen rambo and wilshere together and they have quite a xavi - iniesta combo...much like scholes and giggs did a few years ago...

If we are going to trust one of those two with the CAM job we need to fully support the team and give them confidence.

As we have shown...making the emirates into a fortress has turned our bunch of WORST ARSENAL TEAM EVER into a bunch of misfits who dont know when to give up...

Agree0 Disagree0

Asking around - if Wenger does not get his top CAM targets, then Wilshire will be deployed there.
Wenger will still look for another 'body' in the midfield - which may come in the form of Arshavin.

billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene has said in the past he will eventually deploy Wilshere in the old Bergkamp role. Basically the creator. So for me are most impressive midfield would consist of Song, Arteta and Wilshere although I do agree Wilshere is a surprisingly good ball winner but we press quite high so hopefully that won't be wasted. I think Rosicky and Rambo will come from the bench.

In Arsene I Trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not being pesimistic, but wilshere still needs to come back from his injury and be good enough to play for us. YES he was amazing last season, but that was a pretty nasty surgery he had, and there is the possibilty that he wont be the same player he was.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree w/ the last post. He's been out a long time. It'll take a while.
Ypsigooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilshire will start every game if fit! He destroyed xavi and iniesta! Will be if not is, one of the best midfielders in the world and these type of players do not get rotated! I'm sure any team in the world will give him a first team spot if we were stupid enough not to!

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is one player Wenger has immediately on his team list whenever he can. Been amazing these past two seasons, and very under-rated, he will not be rotated, expect wilshere to be rotated while he comes back to fitness, coming on if the team are winning and such things as that until he looks like he can hold his first team spot again, Ramsey and Arteta will chop and change. Rosicky, whilst in this kind of form will start for a majority of the remainder of the season, but subbed when he tires or Arsene feels the job is all but done.
