Frimpong, Afobe and Aneke all rumoured to be on the move, unclear if loan or perm. Aneke interest confirmed on Crewe website, Frimpong linked to Hull and palace, Afobe not sure

Believable36 Unbelievable10

Afobe is Bristol City I believe

Agree1 Disagree0

Not bad moves for them, what about Aneke is he expected to make the step up, stay in our lower ranks or make a loan move. perhaps an ed could enlighten us? {Ed027's Note - Aneke is expected to leave on loan, Frimpong and Afobe both have had serious injuries, I am of the assumption that both could leave on a permanent basis, but it could well be a loan...this will annoy fans a lot, as it means from the youth cup winning side only Jack Wilshere remains (Coquelin loan has option to buy) there were high hopes for Lansbury, Bartley, JET, Afobe (Henry especially had hopes for him) and Frimpong, most of these were here since they were 10/11/12, folk thought we had our own batch of youth coming throught but most have been flogged, just this year Watt, Eastmond, Henderson, Shea were all released. I know Jack Wilshere is way above these lads, but he's above most players his age, I've been told Wenger has been bad with these players, he's been made out to be a god with youth, but not with our homemade ones

Agree3 Disagree0

Not bad moves for them, what about Aneke is he expected to make the step up, stay in our lower ranks or make a loan move. perhaps an ed could enlighten us? {Ed001's Note - Aneke is expected to make a loan move for the season, then be reassessed next summer.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed can you elaborate on what went wrong with the youth policy or whatever? Were they never given the chance? {Ed027's Note - never given a chance or not good enough, members of that team had serious attitude problems too, including Jack

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2013 11:05:20
Do you then feal more optomistic about the current crop of foreign young players, players like gnabry, eisfeld, zelalem and olssen

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2013 09:57:21
It's a shame Frimpong was injured and never really got a chance when Song left, I really rate him as a strong holding midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

All these players have been used in the past as examples of why we don't need to spend any money as we had a golden generation coming through.

Not given up on all of them yet, but with so few promising players actually making it to the first team I don't see Wengers stance, which has been - how can I sign players and kill the chances of young players already at the club -being proven to have benefited us over the last five years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will we have any players left? The lack of transfer activity this summer is heaping so much pressure on the manager that if we have a bad result on the first day of the season, there could be a lot of fans very unhappy - I sense trouble is brewing.

Agree0 Disagree1

This is a joke. Looking at the Arsenal web-site, we have 26 players showing in the first team squad. Of these, 4 are forward players who we are trying to get rid of, 3 are already injured (Verm, Monreal and Diaby) and now Frimpong is rumoured to be off - that leaves just 18 going into the new season. What a ridiculous situation we are in. Of the remaining 18, we have Ryo and Sonogo who are untested and only 1 back up goalkeeper. We also have a number of players who are injury prone so this season is a write-off before we start. How do we expect to compete for 4 trophies with bare bones? Me thinks the club are in financial difficulty because there can be no other reason.

Agree1 Disagree0

The clubs in a tricky situation
Everyone wants them to sign "marquee" players, and then if we do so and run out of money, the squad will still be a lot smaller than buying a few decent squad players

{Ed022's Note - Personally, I think there has been a real realisation that alot of players were eating up wages without actually doing much on the pitch. They have shifted a lot of "deadwood" and some youth players along the way. Yes, the squad is thin at the moment but it is only August 1st. One thing we don't want is another last day transfer madness where we sign players of Santos and Park's calibre...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Wengers last season, he will finish doing it his way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wengers lasr season - he will finish us of!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, do you know about akpom, that's who I meant when I first asked about aneke {Ed027's Note - he is seeking a loan move away, as well as Hayden and others, they will get the move I imagine

POLL:

Cazorla at LW or Cazorla at CAM? {Ed027's Note - I've done it mate,also added RW as an option as he played there for Malaga and Villareal, Vote!}

Believable9 Unbelievable23

Cheers Ed.

The reason for the poll. Some guy tried to tell me that statistically and performance wise Santi was more effective on the LW.

I voted CAM for the record. As did most I see. Landslide victory for me ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Your mate was right btw.

Santi is prettier to watch through the middle though.

Better balance to the team when Santi icon the left, does what Wenger always hoped Arshavin would do for us there.

Agree1 Disagree0

He has played RW at Malaga and for the Spain National Team, we haven't tried him on the right wing yet. I agree that he is far more effective down the middle compared to LW, however wouldn't mind giving him a go on the RW for the emirates cup.

Here's a rumour to mull over, we are not signing anyone, today, tomorrow or for the foreseeable future,
SOURCE: my gut

Believable137 Unbelievable31

Totally agree wenger biggest ever magic trick to fool all the arsernal fans

Agree2 Disagree0

Totally agreeable there's no way wingers going to splash cash so looks like we've just got sonago

Agree0 Disagree0

Try listening to wenger interviews not paper talk. Wenger and gazidas always said nothing would happen till back from asia tour!

Agree0 Disagree1

Didnt ivan say very early on when u started singing from the stands about our new financial firepower an we can pay this for him an we can pay this guy this much a week. did he say " we want our business done early" so on tha note sonago was done early so as you say listen to wa they say. then we have done all our business?

Canning84

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah and while we have been on asia tour, making lots of money our rivals have been buying players and strenghtening their squad. is a crappy asia tour more important than prem league? according to wengers and the boards attitude it obviously is and wenger even came back from asia tour and said we won't be strenghtening squad because we have to concentrate on emirates cup, yet another major trophy heh arsene?
chas

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm sure another young talent will be signed. But will never reach starting squad anywhere down the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

When was the last time we spent nothing in the summer will ye all grow up and just wait and stop winching

Agree1 Disagree2

I'm sure another young talent will be signed. But will never reach starting squad anywhere down the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

When was the last time we spent nothing in the summer will ye all grow up and just wait and stop winching

Agree0 Disagree0

Chas yours is the worst post I've ever read

Agree0 Disagree1

Of course!
The club-initiated rumours of fabricated bids for Jovetic and Higuain and the noticeable fact that Arsenal always bid £10M less for Suarez than Liverpool's latest minimum price, knowing it will be refused, are just lies to dupe the fans into buying season tickets.

If the club admitted the truth, that the £70M war chest was always earmarked for obscene shareholders' dividends and excessive bonuses for Messrs Wenger & Gazidis, ticket sales would plummet.

I believe fraudulent misrepresentation is the term often used.

I hope it is just negligence!

Agree1 Disagree0

Its what I suspect too.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why is that city cork gooner?
chas

Agree0 Disagree0

Jondemassey I totally agree but I hope by start of season we will be proved wrong.
chas

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a disgrace - we have let go so many players either released or sold that we barely have a squad, so how will we cope with all the cups etc? Sadly top 4 will be out of our reach this season and not really sure where this will leave us going forward.

Following his release from Man City, 22yr old Abdisalam Ibrahim, who was dubbed "the new Yaya Toure" is subject of a trial from long time admirer Arsene Wenger. Young, talented and free.

Typical Wenger signing.

Believable72 Unbelievable14

Young, "talented" and free - our kinda signing

Stewart

Agree1 Disagree0

Might be worth a punt, especially if he will potentially add some steel to our lightweight midfield

Agree2 Disagree0

He'll go to crystal palace. Also, as he's only 22, compensation will have to be paid to city, I believe

NE Gooner

Agree0 Disagree2

Hardly going to take a chunk of the £70m if he's been released on a free. I know under 23s get some compensation given to their former clubs but it will be a couple of hundred thousand, not millions!

Agree0 Disagree0

A signing's a signing.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd have no problem with that

Agree0 Disagree0

We will sign him, then loan him to Crystal Palace.

Agree1 Disagree0

He is not that good, wathced him a lot cause he is on loan to a norwegian club this season. Yes, he got talent, but there is a lot of better 22-year olds out there. But would be cool with a norwegian at arsenal though:)

Norwegian Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

. so he is 22 and still city have released him on a free. All point to his 'great talent'.

Hi Guys,

I had a few beers and a chat with a member of the coaching staff at Arsenal and he was adamant that Wenger has always preferred Benzema to Higuain and that Kaka is a player he would like to work with. He also told me not to pay too much attention to the Suarez ''bid''.

When have Arsenal ever done their deals in public? The targets he mentioned are Verratti who has just signed an extension at PSG until 2018 to ward off interest from Napoli, Juve and Arsenal. PSG might have to do the same for Sahko.

Giorgio Chiellini is another that tops the list but he also tops Manchester United and Real Madrid's. Sebastian Giovinco is another Wenger has pursued for a
while.

You can expect a couple of signings in the near future 1) a CDM - Josuha Guilavogui. He won't cost more than £8m and he has just got into the French national team aged 22, he bags of stamina but his tackling needs to improve. 2) DEF - Adi Rami is another who should sign in the next week or so. There was no mention of a keeper.

I personally, would be happy with any of the above. let's see what (if anything) the next 4 weeks brings us.

Believable18 Unbelievable66

Mate I believe u because I know when i'm reading something that fits our clubs way of thinking, but I can't begin to explain how much I am hoping your lying. That sounds like one of my sarcastic rants when the so called 'transfer warchest' was announced and its coming true!

Agree3 Disagree0

I totally agree with you regarding Joshua Guilavogui! I actually posted about this guy a few days ago and I expect Wenger to go and get this guy.
His representatives also look after yay a sanogo, olivier giround and the ox.

Agree0 Disagree0

Adil Rami. Cumbersome has the turning circle of a freightliner. reminds me of Willie Young. Hope that isn't an omen!

Agree0 Disagree0

That's funny!
I always preferred even Chamakh, Gervinho, Bendtner & Park to the hapless, clueless Benzema. and they are all 5 miles south of useless!

Arsenal I talks with German defenders Matthias Ginter and serdar tasci.

No decision on which one yet

Believable23 Unbelievable33

Rather have tasci then imo

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 15:01:27
Hey all! Heard Arsenal are wrapping up a deal for Matthias Ginter of Freiburg. He's a tall German defender and only 19. Should cost in the 5-7 mil range. You'll remember that Freiburg is where Coquelin was sent on loan. Clearly not a coincidence as we've been looking at Ginter for a while. Now with TV5 and Kos out we're ready to pull the trigger.

I know it's not a marquee signing and I'd still like a top-notch CDM and striker, but this is a great signing as both cover in the present and potential star in a few years.

Just remember where you heard this first.

- Philly Phanatic {Ed027's Note - spot on, does this mean no Jesus Gamez?....I think it does

Believable47 Unbelievable17

Hope this is true.

Exactly the right fit for a 4th choice CB. Young, cheap, relatively experienced, German, and full of potential to be a star.

Agree0 Disagree0

Long shot, but maybe still Gamez in also for RB then bacary to Monaco/PSG?

Mark

Agree0 Disagree1

Or maybe we get both and Sagna doesn't renew his contract. We also lost Squid Ed so we need to replace him. {Ed027's Note - I expect Sagna to stay now. Ginter would replace Squid, Djourou was out on loan so doesn't need replacing, we have MIquel anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Various sites suggest Ginter can play as a DFM as well as a CB.
At aged 19 he can cover both positions and can be eased into the team over the next 2 years. Seems to me to have more potential than Williams at 28.

Agree1 Disagree0

His comment on the 18th July

The Germany Under-21 international made 23 Bundesliga appearances last season and while he admits he is keen to test himself at a higher level, the defender is in no rush to move on.

"It's no secret to reveal I am longing to play for a top side from Europe one day in the future, " Ginter told Sport-BILD. "I would be lying if I said any different.

"But at this point in time I am with Freiburg and I am really enjoying it here. It's the perfect place for me.

"At my age, there is absolutely no point in being stuck on the bench when I have a great chance to play first-team football at Freiburg.

"This is my club. I was born here. "

Agree0 Disagree1

Ginter is not ready! Could sink like Djourou if thrown in too early. Remember how promising the swiss once was? {Ed027's Note - Djourou was fine a few seasons back when he and Kos were at the back, he wasn't as bad as people say, he lost his confidence and there was no coming back, as a defender you take risks, when ever Djourou seemed to take one it went wrong, hopefully he's getting back to his best, Ginter is German confidence in never a problem with those boys! & he does look very promising, 4th choice, he can learn form Per, Kos and TV, fit in here an there, and develop

There's a rumour that 16 shares have been bought by Usmanov

Paul

Believable39 Unbelievable15

Big whoop! He needs to buy out Kronke ASAP! We have a month left in the window to make a dent on our alleged transfer "war chest" of £70m plus!

Agree1 Disagree0

16 were traded today at £15, 650. However it makes no difference if he gets to 30% from them as there is no rule that states this is the point at which to make a formal offer for all shares anymore

Agree0 Disagree0

There were 16 shares bought today. Don't know who, but likely Usmanov.

Agree0 Disagree0

As Arsenal's shareholding totals approx. 62,000, then 16 is a drop in the ocean.
Could they be the shares once held by Glasgow Rangers which "disappeared" in 2012?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not enough!

We need to get rid of the current directors, executives and manager, who are only running the club for their own personal dividends and bonuses.

It's what comes of staffing up with economists instead of football people.

Agree1 Disagree0

8 shares only - Purchased and then sold straight on for minor profit, not 16 shares in total

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 14:53:02
ed do you know of any interest in mccarthy or ginter? heard some rumours today. {Ed027's Note - {Ed027's Note - i hear we're looking at Mathias Ginter guys, young Cb from Freiburg, been in talks for a while, Mccarthy is not a target as such, maybe an alternative in the future, if targets fail, we've looked at him}

Arsenal to offer Real Madrid £25m for playmaker Luka Modric! any other rumours you can update us on? Ed {Ed027's Note - nothing new

Believable9 Unbelievable56

Unsure on this one, as much as I like him as a player. Not sure he'd move to us since played for Tottenham also we have enough playmakers?

I think the availbility of Khedira could be an intersting one, since more a DM than playmaker?

Mark

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets buy a left back while we're at it

Players in positions we have enough cover, it's a clever move

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Paul.

Can only see one CAM joining, if at all. Cesc Fabregas.

BUT, this is Arsenal and maybe just maybe that Monaco bid for Santi is true. Don't think Ebeneezer, I mean, Wenger would pass on that amount of profit after just one year.

We could replace him for cheaper, and have extra cash for elsewhere. Highly doubt it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 21:15:20
after the season Santi has had he is definately in the 35m range. I reckon he is happy to stay. we are now stable regarding transfers out (the real talent) however if he is sold I expect its only if Fabregas has said he will return. I reckon Cesc is staying but if he doesn't figure much then he is ours come January.

Hi Ed. can you do a poll "should wenger be offered a new contract" thanks mate {Ed027's Note - will do mate

Believable13 Unbelievable12

Seeing that Wenger is more economist (saving the big money for his bonuses) than football manager (investing in the team), I vote Wenger should be offered a new contract in the government to work alongside fellow economist Vince Cable.

Is that what you meant?

Worlds greatest striker Bendtner possibly off to Malaga

Believable34 Unbelievable15

Malaga are looking at other options now

Agree0 Disagree0

With Malaga club captain Jesus Gamez coming the other way. Gamez plays RB or CB which would kill two birds with one stone.

We shift more deadwood and get a quality defender in the process!

Just need a quality defensive midfielder and a striker or attacking winger and the gooner nation will stop whinging and actually look forward to the new season!

Agree2 Disagree0

Could they even afford his wages?

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if they can't afford his wages, we should pay a percentage of them for a year/2 to get him gone! (small % though)

Mark

Suarez is just a smokescreen. To keep other clubs away from our genuine targets.
I expect signing from Bundesliga. May be def or off. Seems Fellini interest is still live. Any thoughts eds!
Arsenal would never pay more than 25-30 mill or any player. It's against wenger's philosophy I think.

Orthopodgooner

Believable35 Unbelievable15

Some serious Guerrilla warfare going on at Arsenal. The smoke screen is so elaborate, it has left even Arsene, Dicky and Ivan disoriented. They can't see what they're doing. Perhaps they should just stick to doing things the simple way? Instead of just making arses of themselves. Just a thought.

Reports suggest that Arsenal will go for Alexis Sanchez if Suarez's deal didn't happen. "Marquee Signing" people are hoping for?

Believable18 Unbelievable49

Wouldn't be a bad signing. I'm sure we've got plenty of targets should the suarez deal fail.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets be honest, I'd be more than happy with Sanchez signing as he is a great, very underrated player. Marquee signing? More 2 man tent signing, but a signing none the less! {Ed007's Note - LMAO@ '2 man tent signing'....I'm stealing that Greeny, sorry.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't see this happening - just like the other transfers suggested this summer

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouln't mind him coming, I wouldn't go over 28m though

Bergkamp5353

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't worth anything like the £30m that has been reported. He's averaging about 10 to 12 goals per season in what is probably the most creative team in Europe. Barcelona overpaid for him.

Ubistonk Gunner.

Agree1 Disagree0

Vastly overated player, no better than what we've already got

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 21:18:55
I reckon no more than about 18m for him. can be a very good player, went to barca just because they came calling. him or di maria would be great on the LW or LF position moving Podolski into the Cf position or behind Giroud. Really happy with Giroud, I reckon if we give him the support he will improve this season. just don't think Giroud is selfish enough.

LEGIT - heres the hold up with the suarez deal. the clause in Suarez's contract means that Liverpool only have to inform suarez that a bid has been made. HOWEVER the clause also states that if a champions league club offers over 40m and Liverpool are not in the champions league then suarez may be sold. the hold up is that Liverpool are saying that arsenal are not in the champions league as they have not yet qualified for the group stages. the qualification games are on the 20th and 27th which means there will still be 3 days to complete the transfer. arsenal will have already started their premier league campaign however this dosen't matter as suarez is banned for the first 6 games. so basically we just need to be patient i'm confident the deal will happen.

Believable78 Unbelievable47

Been saying this.

Pretty straight forward.

Agree2 Disagree0

Sorry but you are so so wrong, Arsenal have been given bum information about the clause, typical agent trying to cause a war to get a big pay day, but arsenal have made a silly move by offering 1 pound over the 40 to try and humiliate LFC but also allowing themselves to be charged by the FA for inside information into contracts. I really think arsenal have made a huge f--k up in how they have dealt with this bid and I can't see them winning this war because they will not pay 55 mill nor will LFC sell for less. so well done to the board again for another blunder you need to pack up your jobs because you ruin every deal we try to do. bring back david dein.

Agree4 Disagree2

This sounds like a very plausible reason
Brad

Agree2 Disagree0

Yup, suarez camp have made us look like *****. The £40m+ was to just talk to the player all along. Possibly the most pointless clause in football contract history.

What now?

Paul

Agree3 Disagree0

LOOOL this is what I've been saying on this site for the last couple weeks

Josh09

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if this is true and Arsenal wait until August 28 when/if we have qualified for the CL, what is to stop Real Madrid to come in long before that and make a £50+ bid for Suarez and just snap him up!
Arsenal can't wait until that late, if we want him, just put up the cash that's required! NOW!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2013 07:58:04
Guardiola, suarez agent would have a copy of the contract which would of been made available to arsenals people. No one is saying this is true but very plausible. i'm Suprised Wenger has authorised 40m bid, there's no way he will pay more than that. I think the Liverpool supporters who come on here know as much as anyone else, what they read in the papers. I still think one free transfer is a poor return for a club that has over 123m in the bank which doesn't include the new 30m per season contrat with emirates. Km

Agree1 Disagree0

This is BS.

Suarez camp have agreed there is no sell clause. AFC have to pay the asking price if they want the deal. Better to pursue other targets with the money available.

Agree0 Disagree0

Somewhere in the background Dein & Son are hovering. every deal of the past era that has had Arsenal fans confused, hurt or both has involved Dein.

. After selling his shares to Usamov, Deins job seems to be 'attempt to bring Arsenal and its board down'. wonder why[sic]?

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would offer £45m now and get him signed as if we wait until the 27th/28th Real may have failed in their Bale bid and therefore hijack our deal for Suarez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perfect excuse not to spend any money - lies, lies and damn lies - Arsenal need to act quickly as we have such a small squad this is shameful!

Agree1 Disagree0

There is no way Arsenal would have seen Suarez's contract. I'm fairly certain that would be breaking so many rules if true.

My guess is that his people misread the details and told Arsenal what they belived to be true regarding the £40m clause. In the end everyone looks silly and Liverpool will now for even more that they would have before.

Agree0 Disagree0

Now that’s the first believable information that I have read for weeks. To be honest we all know how tight Arsenal are with their spending, which is a good thing. So let's just wait and see how this pans out. There is no need to rush out and spend above your valuation price, and if it does not materialise than fine we will just go out and go for our 3rd target. Personally I still think he has no loyalty and if we got him he will be off to another club in time, as long as we get a good pay out, I am not complaining. Just trust in Arsenal. Ster

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather buy soldado and baines with the Suarez money rather than chase one player for 40+ mil

Agree0 Disagree0

Damn Liverpool, they had to go and be right. See what fourth place does to you arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree0

So you would buy another left back why?

Madrid will get Bale, they always get their targets and to be honest what has Bale got to stay for CL he hopes at Spurs. PL he prays with Spurs one day so really and truly Spurs have nothing to offer him.

He wants to go and Spurs know that they're just trying to get as much money out of Madrid now.

Agree0 Disagree0

He offers more than any of our other left backs and is one of the best in the world. So yes I would sign baines

Agree0 Disagree0
