Glad Man U beat spurs, I see laner and Guv have been keeping their heads down since. Fabregas has aggravated hamstring and is out of Shaktar Donesk game. Typical that it is always our best players that get injured. Also when is Vermaelen going to be back, he has been out for over 2 months now.

Van Persie, Fabregas, Vermalen and Nasri all have the "winning mentality" but then again what sportsman does not want to win. Sagna, Walcott, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Roiscky, Wilshere and Chamahk all have incredible workrate.

Glad to see you boys enjoying a dodgy Manure goal so much, as a Spurs fan I suppose the only way it'll be worth it is if you lose the title to Manure by 2-3 points. Thought I'd try something new and talk some sense on the Arse/Spurs rivalry. Painful fact is you are still stronger than us but

It's the back-line that needs attention!

RB = Sagna, Eboue, Nordtveit. Nordtveit is untested and needs games. I don't think Arsène will strengthen here (therefore no van der Wiel! Vurnon Anita is better already in any case!)
LB = Clichy, Gibbs, Troure, Cruise, Botelho. Traore will move on, Cruise needs games. No change for at least 3 seasons!
CB = Vermaelen, Kosceilny, Squillaci, Djourou, Bartley. Bartley untested and needs games. Djourou lacks pace and is easily turned, can't compete with the best players (ie Tevez, Messi etc.) This is where we are weakest. We haven't developed a decent CB since Tony Adams and whilst the rumours are abound for many of the top young CB's Arsène has had plenty of opportunity to bring them in (Subotic, Vertonghen (ideal partner for Vermaelen), Howedes, Sakho) and few maturer names (Mertesacker, Jagielka, Cahill). The likely route he will take this January (will be a French speaker as they have to hit the ground running and communication is key) will be the Ajax-Belgium connection! Jan Vertonghen (£8m) or Toby Alderweireld (£5m). Both are tall, international quality and have CL experience. Both speak French and have played in a partnership with Vermaelen. Ideally he should go for Vertonghen but Ajax although broke won't part with him in Jan (imo) but I can see them letting Alderweireld go with add on's or even a px/loan for Djourou. The summer could then see a double swoop of the Ajax dressing room, if Fabianski has a mare and his confidence goes again, Maarten Stekelenburg (28 contract expires in 2012) and Vertonghen will be the aim - total cost would be no more than £15m.

The only other likely arrivals in the summer will be youth. With Rosicky and Arshavin both hitting their 30's new blood will be coming in on the left flank. Hazard is the hottest (and most rumoured) prospect and I can see Arsène going all out to get him, £10 to £15m. Elsewhere the team is strong and needs little or no reinforcement, but Romelu Lukaku could well be snapped up if he can persuade his father to let him go and the price is right! This would be a luxury buy and only if he looses faith with Vela and or sells Arshavin. Anderlecht don't need to sell and have him tied into a long (2015) contract so he won't come cheep and not sure Arsène is willing to spend £20m on a 17 year old who whilst obviously talented is not yet a full international and is probably only as good as Aneke and Afobe (even though he has first team and CL experience).

January
In = Alderweireld £5m + Djourou loan until summer

Summer
In = Vertonghen £5m + px Djourou
In = Stekelenburg (possibly) £8m + px Fabianski
In = Hazard £15m
Out = Fringe youth (Randall, Hoyet, Henderson, Traore) £6m
Out = Almunia £4m
Out = Diaby £7m
Out = Vela £6m
Out = Arshavin (possibly) £10m

Net spend £0m
Net saving on wages

Aneke, Afobe, JET, Frimpong and Wellington promoted to first team.

Squad for 2011/12
GK = Stekelenburg, Szczesny, Mannone
RB = Sagna, Nordtveit
LB = Clichy, Gibbs
CB = Vermaelen, Kosceilny, Squillaci, Vertonghen, Alderweireld

Mid = Fabregas, Wilshere, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Eboue, JET, Wellington, Hazard, Aneke

Arsenal will sign noone in January because we'll be 10 points clear on the top of the table. We really don't need a keeper right now because Fabianski has been brilliant. We don't need a centre back because Koscielny & Squillachi have been brilliant and we haven't even gotten Vermaelen back from injury. The midfield is solid dfensively and we all know how good they are going forward. As for the strikers we still have Van Persie, Chamakh, and Bendtner has done a lot of growing up over the past year. We don't need to sign players because we're the best team in England and maybe the world when everyone is fit.

I honestly think Benzema would be the best thing that could happen to Arsenal. A world class striker that is able to play a full season, what we've been missing for about 4 seasons!

There's no limit to how good that lad could be.
