A few papers saying we're after Alessandro Matri. Eds, do you know anything about this? Pretty underwhelming transfer target if you ask me {Ed002's Note - Fiorentina are certainly interested in Matri who is out of form, reportedly also interesting AC Milan and being hawked around Europe. Perhaps Greek or Turkish sides will maybe show an interest.}

Don't know how true this is,my mate who is a cab driver has said that Arsenal will sign demba ba from Newcastle for under £8 million pound

He's a proven goal scorer - dodgy knees apparently - haven't seen much sign of it though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really appreciate that you don't try to make your source sound credible. I had a dream we signed Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

Try to offload Chamcrap in that deal as well. Ba would be a great signing for us (a team with No quality strikers ba Walcott)

Agree0 Disagree0

The cab driver is a good friend of football agent Barry silkman & plays in the same football team as him that's how the cab driver knows

Agree0 Disagree0

Demba ba is gonna join liverpool an carrol will get his wish to go back to necastle !

Agree0 Disagree0

Demba Ba is available for 7.5m to a Champions League Club or 10m to a non CL Club, his contract terms. So might not be a bad shout although I think he's after 90k a week, which AW will not agree to pay. Geordies always go on about his dodgy knee, but he's hardly missed a game in two seasons up here, played the most of all the forwards at NUFC.

For the sake of my sanity could people please be specific when they say Wenger should go??

There is no decent manager available who would drop the team they are currently managing to come and manage us.

Also, to sack Wenger mid-season, unless we're facing relegation, is preposterous.

I believe Wenger should go at the end of the season - he should be told to submit his resignation if he doesn't volunteer it. I would like him to do his best for the club and see out the season but for me this has to be his last.

I do not agree he should be sacked now - because it's not classy - because he needs to realise his ideas don't work - he needs to be accountable for where we finish - he needs to see the impact selling your best players has - he deserves to have til the end of the season - nobody we should want is available...except Pep.

Believable22 Unbelievable8

I agree. I think Arsene Wenger should leave at the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you want arsene out at the end of the season regardless of what happens from now until then? i cant disagree more. theres far too much season left to be throwing your toys out the pram. IAWT

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure RDM doesn't have a job and has won the Champions League and the FA Cup?

Agree0 Disagree1

What if he turns things around and we end up in the top 4 again? should he stay on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure these were the murmurings last season yet we finished 3rd after a terrible start...he needs help, not booting out! We need David Dein back, not Arsene out

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see why he should be allowed to carry on for the rest of the season. So far it has been a disaster and we are going backwards. I have just read an article on that says he tore a strip of Verm, Jenkinson and Gervinho following Saturday's shambolic performance. I agree that Verm is not playing well at the moment, but as for Jenkinson, he has been excellent this season and the criticism seems harsh. What really makes me laugh is Gervinho - we all know that he is awful and should never have even started, so Wenger only has himself to blame. I would not mind so much if he showed some passion, but he just sits on his backside while other managers will stand in the tech area and try to sort problems out. We have not won anything now for 7 years, and the team that last won something was based on a defence that Wenger inherited from previous Managers - would Arsene have bought a Dixon, Bould or Winterburn? Simple answer NO he would not. Enough is enough I say, it is time to move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsene needs to go. We need some like Dennis Bergkamp.

How is Wenger responsible for the loss of our best players. We all know, surely, that if a player wants to go, they go. If anything, it is the board who have let them go by not paying their market value in wages, or not investing in the team so they choose to ply their trade elsewhere!

Agree0 Disagree0

We're all entitled to our opinions but I am not sure there is a better manager available right now, that's half the problem. Also, as much as I hate the way things have gone, I do respect Wenger, and unless facing relegation, I believe no manager should be sacked until the end of the season. I can understand some people thinking well if he finishes 4th then why sack him - but for me his sacking is not just about where we finish. It's the manner. It's the transfers. It's the tactics. Mark my words we were LUCKY to finish 3rd - Spurs handed that to us on a plate and on't ever forget it! We had no business finishing 3rd and we are very lucky to be in the champions league this season. But it is time for change, time for a new direction, improved football, better players, new drive, new tactics etc. Wenger has shown he cannot adapt to modern football, and finishing 4th instead of top 2 proves this.

Pep Guardiola is available. Mourinho will be available in the summer? I don't see why Arsenal couldn't get one of those two to come to the Emirates.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to disagree. Wenger will have no excuses (tiredness) if we lose to West Brom and he should step aside then. If he goes now we have a chance to make the CL next year and get in a new manager who will actually sign decent players. I think Wenger has run out of ideas and is too stubborn to change his formation and style. I would go all out for Guadiola and I believe he would come. If we finish mid table under Wenger then we have no hope of getting Guadiola.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know that Wenger should leave because he has not won any thing for 6 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Roberto Martinez has got to be his replacement!

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont want to see Wenger leave the club maybe just become director of football or something along those lines. Arsenal need to take some risks there is some dross thats needs to be outted like gervinho. In days long gone now arsene seemed to know those players with the future talent but we cannot hold on to the top talent playing and with the mentality we currently have. Losing Wenger mid season would have a massive impact on the club and cant help feeling it would be negative. Moyes would be a great manager for us or the underdog Chris Houghton, personally I hold him responsible for Newcastles climb and look what he is doing with Norwich what could he do with the likes of carzola and jack. Pep Guardiola is not right for us with the selection of players at barcelona it would be hard not to win games! We need someone with something to prove and something to push for not thats already done it all. Not saying that it wouldnt be good to see jose shake things up but Arsenal are a stability club maybe this is what needs to change??

If Arsene says this in interview yesterday does it really mean he will look for a solution within the current squad before he even considers any transfer targets.
"I feel we have to look at the solution from inside, and don't expect too much from outside."
So in the 14 games so far he has seen nothing that will improve us, but now what, he's going to check out the U21's, try Kos as a DCM, put Jenks up front.
I know it could mean a multitude of things and it probably does I guess, never giving a straight answer off to perfection.
That guy has done wonders for us be he is currently doing my head in.
I kinda joked about how many points we'd need to stay up yesterday but if confidence keeps disappearing at this rate we may never get off the spiral of doom!!!

Stoner

Believable13 Unbelievable4

I think he meant that right now we cannot buy anyone therefore its not worth talking about transfers. He, for once, has actually accepted that all is not well and there is something fundamentaly wrong with the way the team plays. Hence the reason why he is saying that they are trying to find a solution for the problems from within.

Agree0 Disagree0

STONER

this is what happens when you sell your best player,we have no 1 to bail us out since rvp was sold.
when you have striker that will score 30 odd goals a season and sell him and do not replace him this is what happens.

Charlie,
I know mate, it's like we've handed Utd the title for the bargain price of 24 million, it truly was a farce to sell him and even more of a joke not to have bought enough players in the summer!

Why do people want Schwarzer?? Every week he makes a howler, he is such a poor keeper it hurts. As a keeper you don't always get judged on your saves but your mistakes. Look at Reina he's been woeful for the last 2 seasons and this one. Schwarzer looks like the guy who trained him.

Honestly what is it with you guys? How can anyone watch Schwarzer and think 'yep - he looks like the sort of reliable international-class keeper I want to help us get to top' ? Every week he is holding his hand up to the team for a different mistake and he costs his club every year. STANDARDS PEOPLE. We need an international mainstay as our keeper. And one just as good as back up.

Unsung heroes: Vorm, Gordon, even Bogdan and Jaaskalainen would be far better than Scwarzer! Please stop talking about him on here it is embarrassing. He's in the same league of keepers as Gervinho is of wingers.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

There are plenty of keepers out there over the last few years who fit schwarzers bill so the need was there for a decent back up.
regardless of what you think of schwarzer he still miles better than what back up we have had since 09.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should grasp the nettle and put in a realistic bid for Fraser Forster of Celtic or Jack Butland. We can't keep picking up cheap, second rate, keepers. We need someone to keep Ches on his toes.

Apparently Arsenal is set to make a bid for Lampard. How true is this? IMO I just don't see this happening, Lampard has experience yes but he is not what we need.

Gooner Grant

Believable9 Unbelievable20

He's 34
he's an attacking midfielder (more of the same)
he's on 140k per week
he's 6 months away from a big signing on fee elsewhere

makes no sense with a player with no ties to the club previously unlike henry for a short term deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Lampard would be huge, I can't see it happening but I really hope it does. It was players like Lamps and Terry who won Chelsea the champions league.

In Arsene I Trust.
