Arsenal bid 13 mil for Villa. surprising that Wenger's starting bid is so close to the asking price. Either Wenger really wants the player or talks between the club have already been ongoing.
I hope this bid doesnt relate to Walcott's contract negotiations.
A front line of Villa, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud, and OX would be frightening and provide massive world class depth.

EDD I have been told that arsenal are looking around for highly rated creative/attacking midfield edd how true and if so could you name some names please {Ed002's Note - In midfield I think the club made a mistake not pushing ahead with the purchase of Wanyama in the summer but Benat and the more flexible Mbiwa have been looked at recently. There has also been a little interest in the likes of Markovic, Lars Bender, Konoplyanka and Hatem Ben Arfa but I cannot see anything coming to fruition there and it is likely more wishful thinking than anything serious. It is hard to see what interest remains in the likes of M'Vila, Llorente, Dragovic and Wanyama who were all previously of interest - although it is still possible the club will go back to M'Vila. I understand that interest in Holtby is still there and there is interest in Zaha if a deal for Walcott cannot be achieved.}

Good news!

Hopefully we can clear out Djourou and Squid while we are at it!

Believable23 Unbelievable5

That would be 50k of the wage bill, even if its a free transfer....2.6m a year.....Djourou will need to be playing to insure he gets picked for his national team.....i suspect he is being paid a hansom 40k per week.....I wouldnt think the other clown has anybody interested in him, although his contract runs out at the end of the season....Arshavin is on Readings radar according to a web site....80k per week....if it goes through expect a low fee....its a shame he never fulfilled our expectation, he put in some good performances in the early days but for me was played out of position....a move away might help him regain his confidence.....km

Mr Salmon

Believable13 Unbelievable18

I don't see a villa deal on the horizon. 10-16mil for a 31yo, not long back from a bad injury. He'll only get a one year contract as he's over 30 then not sign again as he'll be off to China or Russia for his last big contract.
Bad business, waste of money.

walcott new contract to be on arsenal.com soon. source, his bro on twitter, but the tweet was soon deleted.

zaha to sign per-contract and move to us in the summer. as he wants to help palace push for promotion.

ramsey could be on his way out, only on loan tho. cardiff, west ham, qpr, reading all interested.

arshavin set to leave.

lopez should be an arsenal player as of monday {Ed002's Note - Zaha cannot sign a pre-contract for the summer.}

Believable13 Unbelievable28

Ed he obviously just means signed and then loaned back to palace for the remainder of the season

Agree3 Disagree0

If he was that impressive why are they letting him go...............anyway, he turned us down in the first place in favour of Liverpool.........stupid post.

He would not be eligible to play for any other club as you can only represent 2 in any 12 month period. Therefore should Liverpool cancel his contract he can only play for R. Madrid until next season.

If we do go for david villa, then we shouldn't spend more than 10 million on him. He's 31 years old and has just gotten back from a long term injury.

Personally we shouldn't go for him if walcott signs a new deal.

Believable26 Unbelievable5

03 Jan 2013 16:52:21
Fair enough hes 31 but look at Drogba still world class at the age of 34. As for Villa you are all also forgetting that he is Spains LEADING goalscorer and despite him coming back from injury still has a lot to give. Also IMO he would get us much more goals that Gervinho and would be a better option to bring him on rather than Gervinho or Ramsey especially when we are chasing games and in need of goals.

Agree3 Disagree0

David villa is he spanish national team all ti, e top goal scorer. why the hell would we not want him?!!! he is a world class player performing at the highest level at the highest team for years, he is a gret player and anything up to 15-20mill would be a great price 31 or not {Ed002's Note - Old, expensive to buy, pay and insure, never wanted to play outside of Spain, no resale value. Just a thought.}

I have a feeling it will be Napoli not Milan that buy Balotelli. (With Cavani going the other way in the summer).

Arsene Wenger has told Olsson's agent, Martin Dahlin, that he's following the Swede. Olsson has a buyout clause of £3 million in his contract. Not doing bad a West Brom, but definitely no better than Kos, TV or Mertz - would be 4th choice for that money. What your thoughts....

m'villa looks to be the most likely to sign during january.

no news on lopez. but still a possibility.

Arsenal are still interested in Villa
despite the 16 mil fee. Barca still owe Arsenal some money in the Cesc and Song transfers, which could see him moving to the Emerates for less than 10 mil. Wenger prefers a loan deal, with an option to making it permanent. Still a genuine possibility though.

It seems that no players will be brought in until the Walcott situation is dealt with. Looks good though, seems he will sign a 4 year deal worth roughly 85k a week.

Believable19 Unbelievable8

Guys I am not saying I support or believe Malaga's rumours in their entirety and the way he delivers them is often nonsensical BUT:

1) He was the first person to say Song would be sold in the summer - and he was saying it for ALL of last season.

2) He went on and on about Goetze - this may need confirming but I am pretty sure, as in almost 100%, that we lodged an official bid of around £29-30m for Goetze last Jan which was rejected by Dortmund who also rejected similar bids of from about 3 other clubs. So as far as I am concerned, Malaga got that one right because as most of you refused to believe, we did actually make an attempt so sign Mario.

3) He was one of the first to say RVP was leaving

4) Maybe the Eds could confirm this for me but apparently we made moves for M'Vila and Hazard at various points last year - all of which was laughed at on these pages when posted by Malaga.

I'm just saying, let the guy post. I actually enjoy them whether or not I think they're rubbish or not, and others on the site think the same, judging by what I have read.

Metal Gooner {Ed002's Note - There was no move for Hazard last year. All of these can be searched.}

Believable17 Unbelievable10

Cheers Ed that was the one I was actually unsure of but everything else I have said about Malaga and what he said is correct, so people really need to give him a break! If you don't believe his hype then leave it at that, no need to mock the guy!

Metal Gooner

Agree2 Disagree0

1. He at one point or another claimed everyone was leaving, so yes, he said song was

2. There was no bid for Goetze

3. There was a huge amount of speculation about RVP leaving before he jumped on that news, then at one point claimed he was staying or "100% going to juventus"

4. We didnt bid for Hazard, Grimandi went to scout him several times, but no bid was tabled.

Who laughed at him over the M'Vila comments he made? It was assumed he would move to Arsenal. Again, a "100% M'Vila has signed, expect announcement Tuesday" claim was made by Malaga Gooner

The search function shows that there is pure nonsense from him. It hasn't stopped either despite never being right.

Although his latest claim - a cash Neymar bid being tabled, will surely happen any day now....

Paul (Malaga's biggest fan)

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree that malaga is a great laugh and should never stop posting but when you predict as many things as hes done im sure he will eventually get some thing right with complete luck

Agree0 Disagree0

Metal,

I hope youre doing well. The issue for myself is credibility. We are all entitled to our opinions and we use this forum to express them as such, but Malaga goes beyond opinion and therein lies his fault, he claims that he has knowledge.

False knowledge is not something anyone appreciates because it deceives and misleads.

We all love the club, but to create false hope without the truth is unfair to all who spend time on this forum!

Malaga honesty is appreciated, opinion is warranted but deception is uncalled for, act right my friend!

Gunners4Life, In AW we trust!

Sorry Lads , have to say I personally think Malaga is a top guy. He is always entertaining and lets be honest , very rarely anyone gets the transfer rumours right. Guys like Malaga keep this site going so Malaga , keep up the good work

Agree0 Disagree0

Malaga is the most famous person on this site. i always love his posts!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey we can all dream right?

Agree0 Disagree0

What's this nonsense about no bid for Hazard? Wenger was quoted in several sources over the summer saying we were priced out of it, but that the transfer price was fixed because of a clause. Doesn't that suggest we met valuation if we were talking to Hazard about wages?

Arsenal are this week in talks with Parma for striker Ishak Belfodil.
A 20 year old Algerian, played for Lyon and Psg(reserves). Sounds like the most typical Wenger signing, young, French and not really a good goal:game ratio. Looks similar style to Giroud and has has good touch.

Finally selling the deadwood, Chamakh(Lille or west ham), santos(fenerbache), Djourou(hannover), Arshavin(?)

Also M'Vila will be first signing for 12m.
On the fence with this lad, looked great against England when we played France, but he has had poor form for Rennes this season.
Heard AW is preparing a 25m record bid for Fellani in the summer, this might not happen now because he realised we need steel in the midfield now to make top 4.

Holtby is out of contract in the summer but Schalke are looking to sell now as contract talks between them and the player have broken down due to his excessive wage demands (6M/year as opposed to Schalke's 3M/year offered).
German media are suggesting Schalke would be willing to part ways with the player for as little as 2.5m€ which seems unbelievable but would be a bargain for every team. However, the media here also believe Tottenham to be in the driver's seat for a transfer.

Thought I let you in on this as I believe Arsenal to have massive interest in the player, Ed?

Cheers
