Old teacher of mine scouts for Utd. I caught up with him the other day and asked for inside info on the Rooney situation. His reply was that the player think he's bigger than the club and that Utd won't put up with that attitude. I asked what he thought about Arsenal's chances and his response was negative regarding the wages issue.
More interesting however, were his responses regarding their targets. Cesc Fabregas and Gareth Bale this summer and Ronaldo next.

Believable4 Unbelievable64

Ces has said many times he won't join utd, he will return to arsenal when he feels the time is right, he will stay at barcelona.

Agree41 Disagree2

They put up with it before

Agree11 Disagree2

Haha! Ridiculous post

Agree10 Disagree1

With a 25 million buy back, and a 50% sell on fee, united would have to pay barca 50 million just to make the same amount they would get from us. So 50 million plus however much for baboon boy. Ain't happening.
#"I've always wanted to play for David Moyes"
Flybo

Agree5 Disagree1

To flybo, was listening to a guy associated with Barcelona on the radio a while back. He said we'll receive a percentage of the profit Barcelona make on the sale, not on the total sum.

Chimney sweep Josh

Agree4 Disagree0

Either way chimney sweep josh I ain't worried as it won't happen.
Flybo

Agree2 Disagree0

Don't Ronaldo and Bale play in the same position?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope this is true as I don't want rooney at arsenal

Just seen Luis Suarez is 7/2 2nd Favs to sign for Arsenal. We were never in the betting. Where's this come from.
Andylat.

Believable22 Unbelievable36

Rather have higuian

Agree24 Disagree5

Just seen the same thing. I really don't understand why

Agree14 Disagree2

Probly bookies just trying to stir up business

Agree10 Disagree1

Betting suspended with william hill

Agree8 Disagree1

Loads of bets placed this morning in Barcelona?

Agree6 Disagree1

Just looked on paddy power 4/1 RM 1/2 but I remember checking the odds a few weeks ago and your right arsenal where not listed WTF?
Really don't want him he's a person

Cork City Gooner

Agree2 Disagree6

God I hope it's lies we don't want him horsing around in our ranks! Hahah

Agree6 Disagree5

I don't believe it to be true for one second but boy would I take him in an instance! Might have a bad rep, but Arsene would sort that out and most importantly he's a world class player!

Imagine a front line of: Walcott-Higuain-Suarez

Pretty scary!

G95

Agree18 Disagree2

I'd take Suarez in a heartbeat he has his problems but he's a world lass player and with out supply should get 20-25 goals he also is very creative I'd take him over higuain tbh
Imranredman

Agree11 Disagree6

Absolute no chance of getting him story is
pretty toothless if u ask me

GS

Agree12 Disagree1

Sadly I can only see Arsenal buying 1 CF/ST so if Suarez comes that means Higuain is off. Personally I would rather have Higuain, after the first season with us and 30+ goals he will be the most wanted striker in world.

Agree4 Disagree2

Suarez is the best player in the Prem in my opinion but it is a ridiculous rumour. He is bound to cost something like 60m and we will rightfully never pay that.

Agree4 Disagree0

Went from not listed, to 7/2 and now it's 9/4

Agree0 Disagree2

No one will sort out Suarez, he hates the English media and they hate him, what's Arsene going to do move the club to Spain.

Agree5 Disagree0

Apparently it's due to a string of bets made in Spain, no wonder their economy's going down the pan. No chance of it happening

Agree3 Disagree0

"I hope to complete his move to Premier League"

-Jorge Higuain

Source: Marca (apparently)

Do some digging yourselves, see if this is true.

Believable18 Unbelievable6

Dodgy at best - apparently this has basically just been added on to his quotes which came out about a week ago by Tuttomercato and recycled and then reported as brand new. Seriously sceptical.

Agree11 Disagree0

I used to do some journalism a few years back now and know my ins and outs. These type of quotes are usually true.

For example, a story goes out and get hits with minimal information, Over time, by adding extra information you have received, with hype up your story and bring you more followers. It's a bit like a comedian walking back on stage after the crowd screams for 'more'

Agree1 Disagree3

every 1 the hig is a done deal and agreement was sealed last week.

madrid are not touting for any other club to come in for him.

do you not think that's unusual for a player that wants to leave?

relax it will be announced when the club is ready.

malaga gooner

Believable18 Unbelievable15

People have been saying this for weeks. We need proof or sources

Agree13 Disagree0

Why make us wait if that is true? Why put the fans through this? We deserve better than to be put through the wringer like this!

Agree15 Disagree2

I thought you said last weekend?
What happened to medical is done?

Agree15 Disagree0

Ok I'm confused then, apparently Marca and higuains father are saying its not done in an article published in spain this evening - as you're in Spain can you confirm if that's true and explain the apparent disconnect with it all having been wrapped up last week? As the player appears to be in Miami until Saturday it still sounds not done to me - happy to be wrong.

He will make a big difference to the side plus a solid def midfielder Fellini style or Bender & we will be pushing for the top again.

Higuain is on holiday. I am pretty sure this is a done deal. I think he will be in an Arsenal shirt but July 10. No sources I am just speculating

Believable12 Unbelievable8

I am fairly certain Arsene is done with most of his transfer business, and also pretty confident higuain is one of them

Think you are right. and not far off with the 10th. Arsenal have a lot of very cleaver people running the club. So our CEO is no mug. Phil harris who founded carpetright. who is a millionaire. Chips Keswick, who him, with his family are in the billionaire range. They wasn't going to bring in a spiv in to run this club. Ivan and the guys are working behind the scenes to bring in the players we need. The only worry for me is Wenger has a price in his head. That's not always enough. Do think the Higuain deal will happen, if its not sealed already. km

Wayne Rooney has left the Manchester United training ground - and sources understand he has yet to hold talks with manager David Moyes over his future.

this is a bit of a bummer. I wanted to know asap where we stand with him

Believable16 Unbelievable7

Hopefully, where we stand with him is about a million miles apart. give or take.

Agree20 Disagree13

After the mess being made with Higuain don't expect any of the big names Arsenal's been linked with to actually move to the club. I can see Ligue1 being raided and a move for Benteke. The Gareth Barry story sounds like it has a lot more credit to it than peole think.

Agree5 Disagree19

But who has linked them? No one at Arsenal football club that's for sure.

Agree9 Disagree1

Lol yeah gareth barry story lots of credit coming from a web site and the sun. get real

Agree12 Disagree2

The 32 year old Barry? Are we moving forwards or backwards?

Agree11 Disagree2

Wenger out now because he taking the ARSENAL down the drain!

Agree1 Disagree11

It's 10:30 at night and my ribs have only just stopped hurting after reading that Gareth Barry story,, seriously Barry?

Agree3 Disagree0

Ha there is no way Barry will come to Arsenal. this is just the media playing on the fact that we are going for a dm. personally I think Wenger will get Fellani for a DM role

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Jul 2013 05:34:08
The mess with Higuain, what mess is that then?
The deal not being done as quick as you would like is not a mess, it means your impatient and not really clued up

Agree2 Disagree0

Barry wrote the artical himself :/

heard the higuin deal is on the verge of collapsing can't agree a fee with madrid

Believable29 Unbelievable34

Yeah this deal will not happen, now, we will not go above 20 million, madrid want 25. what a waste i'm a prime position to get one of the bests strikers in the world, and typical wenger just messes about.

Agree24 Disagree25

Over a couple of million as well. This annoys me because the club make about £3million per match. and we all know that we need a player of this quality. So losing out on him for a couple of million will leave most fans tearing their hair out

Agree16 Disagree4

Deal will happen end of window, Higuain does not want too stay and wants to come. Higuain on Holiday until weekend. AFC willing to go to £22m

Agree14 Disagree9

25mil for a player that can't get into the starting eleven, wise up fella, money doesn't grow on trees you know

Agree15 Disagree9

It typical Stubborn Arsenal set our own limit and not prepared to go over it even for a just a few Mill. more

4. 5 Million is not a lot in todays market, and let's be honest what type of player can you get for 4. 5Mill by saving money not paying that amount as extra for Hiquin. It silly really. A good opportunity to get a good player who still a good few years left at the top level. Withno real interest from other clubs after Juve went in for Tevez and by all accounts he wants to come and we are still dragging our heels yet again.

Agree13 Disagree4

Only one source to this story, and his success rate is on a par with Cowdenbeath. Get worried when more reputable reports emerge. Think of the potential transfer fees RM are committed to this window and ask yourself if they are prepared to jeopardise one of their prime targets for £4 million and keep a dissatisfied player in the reserves.

Agree12 Disagree3

Yestday I posted here saying Wenger is an economis & £70m wdnt change him & som1 got on my case 4 that. bt sooner or later u'll agree wth me.

Shalom_ajul

Agree4 Disagree15

Hig deal on the verge of collapse because we won't meet reals asking price where 4.5mill short of what they want. for me if your offering 21. 5 what's an extra 4 mill. how many deals/players have we missed out on because we won't pay that little bit extra?

Agree8 Disagree7

03 Jul 2013 14:16:42
'Typical Wenger' cause someone puts a rumour on a transfer site it must be true then. Love your optimism.

Agree15 Disagree1

03 Jul 2013 14:30:02
Your taking notice of second rate websites where the writers don't know a thing. km

Agree13 Disagree0

Dont believe everything goal com tells you mate.
they always do all sides of a story (e. g. higuain in negotiations, higuain close, higuain collapsing etc. ) and eventually one of them becomes true and they refer to it later like it was them that broke it (very cheeky "journalism")
im still hoping he's coming in.

Agree20 Disagree0

You mean you read it on A website

Agree12 Disagree0

This 'news' is being reported on a web site; hardly a reliable source.

There are 3 likely scenarios here:

1) the deal IS on the verge of collapsing over the transfer fee;

2) there is no deal at all, we were never in for Higuin and the whole thing is just media hype; or

3) not all parities are available for a deal to take place (holidays etc).

I have to say, most of the time Arsenal do like to do their business early on and do not discuss the details of negotiations. Don't get me wrong, the prospect of Higuin being an Arsenal player for the upcoming season is a bit tasty. I just think it's very unlikely that anyone really knows what's going on other than the parties involved and they aren't talking.

Anything else (including the above) is just speculation.

People can say whatever they want about Wenger, Gazidas etc, but there is NO WAY this deal will fail over a paltry 400k fee. We ain't that stupid!! Believe it when you see it 'officially' and stop relying on rags.

Agree9 Disagree3

For god's sake it hasn't even happened yet and people are moaning! Can we not at least see what Arsenal and Arsene do before we slaughter them?

Agree13 Disagree1

I agree what was said about a web site above, I once read an article that we had signed joe cole on a free transfer lol. Still it is hard not to get disgruntled when everyone else around us seems to have no problem securing their targets and we drag our feet

Agree5 Disagree0

Correct me if i'm wrong, but if we have no other competitor for his signature? why pay them 4 mill more and outbid ourselves?

we outbid juventus, and we have given madrid a better deal, if they wish to wait it out for another team to come in, so be it.

no one will pay 30 mill for a madrid sub.

he is our no1 target, other teams have not even bothered looking at him, do you think he will go to chelsea, being the 5th option, if they could not get their first 4?

He said he wants to go to a club he will feel loved. that's us. no1 priority and all. I can't defend our stance more.

we are doing the right thing.

since when did 4.5 mill, become loose change? rather use that 4.5 mill on a players wage for a year.

Agree8 Disagree2

I hate wenger. I wish he would leave because he's destroying arsenal by not addin the reinforcements we need and has lost his way.3 million is nothing in this day and age. Thanks wenger we'll now be below Tottenham in future seasons

Agree4 Disagree17

Name please sir you have voiced your opinion but we don't know who voiced it

Bergkamp5353

Agree3 Disagree1

To be fair £25million ain't a lot for a world class striker when compared to what other strikers are going for so let's pay it and get him on board

Agree9 Disagree2

You hate Wenger? Stay away from Arsenal Piers! He's the best thing that EVER happened to us!

Kronke is as useful as a chocolate firegaurd, how can he not sack Gazidas, this man comes out and tells the world how much money Arsenal have and what they can afford, Rooney now wants 200k a week Marouane Fellaini wants a reported 125k a week from 75k at everton. seems to me that the board use Wengers tightness against him, if we have the money then friggin spend it now and let's have a pre season together not last min cheap panic buys
