Rumour about Gregory van der weile joining arsenal would be quality to have two world class full back competing for the right back slot

Believable50 Unbelievable50

Or shud we go for debuchy?

Agree2 Disagree0

I do not believe mirror football , they always get it wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Lies man don't believe the cr@p

The Dude

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont believe it for a second. Two world class right backs competing for the same slot kind of defeats the point of being a world class right back....

W12Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone else think van der wiel should switch to being a winger, a-la gareth bale. Granted, i hate spurs but that's just an example of a positional switch rather than any shout out to the spuds

Agree0 Disagree0

Sagna is much better so VDW would only get games when bak is injured but if he can play lb he would be perfect

Agree0 Disagree0

Van der Wiel is hardly world class. Just because he plays for Holland internationally, doesn't mean anything considering how bad their defense is, and van der Wiel has been part of the problem. He has been highly inconsistent for Ajax these past 2 years also. Would be a waste of a signing. That money is better spent on the likes of Wanyama or Debuchy.

Agree0 Disagree0

It wont happen...paper talk...and he is that great a defender,,,

Agree0 Disagree0

2 word class full backs??? ok sagna....... who's the second??? jenkinson?? lmfaoooooo #deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

Wiel is not world class.. not even close. actually i think coquelin is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Der Weile is a worse defender than Squilacci - so a definite NO THANK-YOU!

Arsenal are looking to sign callejon instead of sahin as sahin looks like he is going on loan to gallataseray instead of us and i really hope this is true as callejon is a decent player but i would prefer him and sahin to come in aswell as cazorla.

Yeah, I know, I'm just wishful thinking, of course the players desire is high on priorities, he wants to play for AC Milan, along with other mitigating factors.

SSN: ettiene capoue has came out and said that he wants to leave Toulouse fc to join a club providing champions league football and to increas his chances of playing for France.

This is good news as the two clubs reportedly heading the chase for him are arsenal and Sevilla, not saying we'll sign him but will be worth keeping an eye on hs situation, of all of our supposed DM targets e is by far the best defensively in my opinion.

Ed, got any news on the latest between him and Barca?

Cheers

Jersey Gooner {Ed002's Note - Etienne Capoue has been of confirmed interest to Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, Schalke, Barcelona, Arsenal and Lyon. Unconfirmed interest from Sevilla has been reported but no offers have been made although Atletico have been trying to get to the negotiating table. Toulouse are not keen to sell so close to the start of the season. I suspect that if anything is to happen it has to be this week.}

apparently the spuds are going to put in a 9.5 mil bid on m'vila can they ever sign somebody that we havent looked at first.

JW.19

Believable12 Unbelievable12

They can put in a bid that low if they like because that's not going to get accepted. Arsenal offer for M'Vila had been agreed at £17.7m, and the deal is waiting for Arsenal to finalise should they choose to do so as far as I am aware.

everyone is forgetting that RVP never said he wanted to leave, he said didnt want to renew his contract, which would have made arsene think of signing more players.

Believable34 Unbelievable9

OK, but what would happen at the end of his contract when he doesn't sign again? He would leave. No he didn't say it in as many words but it was implied.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with the poster on this one. I've not heard of a transfer request and he won't wanna screw arsenal by leaving for free. I reckon he'll see where we are in January then sign or leave then.

Agree0 Disagree0

So after his contract has expired how is he gona still play for arsenal. Not wanting to renew contract means he doesnt want to stay.

The Metro are saying that Manc U are attempting to hijack the deal for Sahin to come to Arsenal on loan. I'm not sure, but I think that he'll prefer to join Manc U because they don't have as much strength in depth in centre midfield as Arsenal, and he may get more game-time there.

East Anglian Gunner

Believable15 Unbelievable32

I wouldnt worry mate the metro is infamously unreliable, but if there's any truth to this your probably right about sahin getting more game time at utd. This is abit of a long shot but at his age london itself may suite him better not just because of wengers great coaching ability but because of the city itself in respect to shopping, night life etc.

jorge enriquez is the subject of transfer negotiations between arsenal and guadajara as the Sahin deal won't happen as he's agreed to join galastrasay on loan for next season. he is 21 years old and is well known in Mexico for his great attacking and defending work rate.

Believable7 Unbelievable44

Source, looked it up and nout all on the Internet and sahib deal has had no reports of breaking down with his preferred club to be arsenal?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sahin is a CM why would they then go and look at a winger cause they couldnt get there CM

JW.19

Agree1 Disagree0

Jorge Enriquez is not a winger, he is very much a defensive midfielder: 6'2", strong, great ball-winner, passing is OK but probably the area of his game where he needs to improve.

i dont really think we need him, what do you think on the sahin situation eds?

norwegian gunner {Ed002's Note - Maybe AC Milan or maybe Arsenal but don't forget Galatasaray would like to take him to Turkey.}

BBC and Sky Sports, Britains most reliable media source.

Ive watched alot of sahinfor both Madrid and Dortmund and I think he's an amazingly good player. He sits deep like xabi alonso playing like a quarter back but also puts he's foot in where it matters.

The rvp situation has damaged his reputation with the club and us loyal fans, i for one hopes he now moves on and clears off as we gooners stood by him through thick & thin and this is how he has repaid us.
that goes for any other player not wanting to be there clear off and bring in guys who will wear our red & white with pride, like the world cup winner we are close to singing !! Yes RVP a world cup winner. No ambition get lost you have burnt your bridge sunshine.

The Crazy Gooner

Believable51 Unbelievable35

Hope he stays. No one knows the story behind that statement, probably written by his agent. And he did make some points that alot of fans were thinking. If he stays we will have an amazing side that can beat anyone.

Agree3 Disagree1

So when have you seen anything or heard anything from rvp mouth saying he wants to leave? oh yeah you havent just a media outlet he SUPPOSEDLY said this to, seems pretty happy in training with his TEAM mates

Agree1 Disagree1

We have him to thank for the current transfers to date,He gave them a wake up call! i now hope he does a rooney and stays
paul

Agree2 Disagree1

There was no wake up call needed, Arsene already knew we were lucky to finish 3rd last season and yes thanks to rvp we got it.Our team has been in decline for many years as Arsene put to much faith in our yout players and 90% off them have not made the grade.
The Crazy Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Cazorla is not a world cup winner. He was out with a broken leg in 2010.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's on his official website. Statement written in the first person... I would say that means straight out of his mouth. As for me, I had hope Cesc would stay, was a bit equivocal about Thiery, distraught when Vieira left... With Na$ri and RvP... I just thought... Just get it over and done with. RvP

Agree1 Disagree1

Paul e didnt give the club a wake up call and two top post he hasn't come out a said it was a lie it doesn't matter who wrote it because he didn't stop them he mocked us publicly how can we take that standing.

Clg

Agree0 Disagree0

So you want our best player and captain to leave because his statement has sparked the board into action and they've actually spent some money. Rvp was right in what he said were his reasons for not signing a new contract. Has he once commented on wanting to go to united, city or jJuve? NO. If he decides to stay, wenger, the board, and the players will all be over the moon. As will I and as should you. Don't turn your back on him until he's actually gone, and if he actually goes.

Dublin Gooner.

Agree2 Disagree1

Although I hope he stays, I completely understand why he would want to leave. He has been with us for ages and is running out of time as far as his career is concerned. I think he is entitled to want to win some silverware after all this time. Hopefully it will be with us though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can everyone get off RVP's back. Has he actually came out and said anything? No items a statement released by his agent. Until he comes out and asks for a move getbehind him. With the two signings and the two potential signings of sahin and cazorla I for one would want RVP in a arsenal shirt banging in the goals like he did last season.

Gooner 84

Agree2 Disagree0

Yeah? What World Cup winner is that then? I bet the original poster would be one of the first people to say how great it is if he does sign an extension and start banging in the goals again. Muppet. Looking at some of the comments on this page by 'supposed' Arsenal supporters has been nothing short of embarrassing recently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Persie has never said that he wanted to leave. All that he has said is that he wont renew his contract because the lack of ambition shown by the board, which every Arsenal fan was thinking. He has made Arsene splash out on transfers - Giroud, Podolski, Cazorla etc - and he should be praised for that. Although he didn't make his statement until after Giroud and Podolski were signed, the signings were made to take the stress away from Van Persie ready for next season.

Robin Van Persie shouldn't be looked upon in a bad light, because he has made Arsenal actually spend some money, and form a team, which on paper looks excellent.

Agree2 Disagree0

Totally agree with Dublin Gooner too, spot on. The original poster along with many other supporters are deluded in thinking that the concept of club loyalty even exists these days. That ended years ago when players like Tony Adams retired.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we want to win anything next season we need him. & I for one want him to stay he's a class player, until I hear him talk about it I'm just gonna ignore all the paper bs & use should to.

-Homesick-

Agree1 Disagree0

If he decides to stay, a true fan should forgive him.

I really don't understand this Song situation...
Song played his heart out for us , and he was one of the most influential players in are game , yes this is a curse as well but he rose to the challenge and gave it his all.He has arsenal blood in his veins.

Do you guys really think that wenger would watch.him week in week out .disobeying his rules ?
The reasons for conceding 49 goals were :
4 goals in the blackburn match which he did not play in.
8 from man u , did not play
No consistent back four...
We had left backs as right backs, centre backs as.right backs defensive mids as centre backs and defensive mids as right backs.
As well as that , we were plagued with injuries.

so please don't say it is Songs fault.
We play a very fluid game meaning that players can't just watch their own back and their teammates playing in the same.position.
All players are involved in attacking movement and defensive movement. However you have to make sure that everything in your department is sorted ,song falls foul of this sometimes however we fail to mention the intricate details .
song can change the tempo of the game in an instant and he gels the whole team Vermaelen also went up a lot and koscielny did went up a fair amount don't forget santos. Song was involved in almost every part of our game , when he played at.centre back he did not seem to roam about alot because he was told to stay back. I think he played CB against marseille and sunderland? The problem I have with this situation is that some people are wishing him away.
"hopefully song leaves"
We pray for players that have a real passion for arsenal and yet we wish them away.
Is it compulsory to almost hate at least one arsenal player at any given time?gervinho, ramsey, mertesacker, gibbs,
santos
walcott, song etc.Let's rise up and get behind arsenal no matter which player . COYG

Mind you mate, he did play against Blackburn.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scored an own goal in the Blackburn match mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah...
When did his ban from the newcastle match come in to place? Was the blackburn match before Newcastle?
1732

Agree0 Disagree0

Song's contract ends in 2014. If it is tru that Arsenal want to sell him it could suggest a new policy is in place to negotiate new deals two years away and anyone to refuses to discuss or negotiate, they sell off quickly enough to prevent the RVP kind of situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

He played in Blackburn match and had an own goal mate.however, he had a fantastic season on the whole and I do like him for his fighting spirit and his toughness

Agree1 Disagree0

Song washeavilly involved in three goals , two of ours and 1 of theirs

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly songs class secondly we need to back all of our players, this season lets not be known as the quite gentlemen of the prem lets get behind our lads and let them hear us roar we have a glorious stadium, a genuis of a manager, some of the finest coaches in the game and some of the best talent around so this season lets get behind the badge and the team and stick to them through thick and thin and with this combination of support, brains and talent maybe we might see the greatest team in the history of football win a trophy, this season let the emirates become the place no team wants to travel to
Saint arsenal

Agree2 Disagree0

Give song what he wants. he is a player of immense immense quality. He is also a very loyal player, he said in an interview few years ago. "i am so happy here, arsenal would have to throw me out and sell me. i will never leave on my own"

Agree1 Disagree0

Well said the original poster. There are a lot of very fickle (I suspect 'Johnny Come Lately') supporters at Arsenal; if we are talking 'I wish...' I wish the fickle supporters would jog on over to a club more suited to them, maybe the spuds or citeh.

Agree0 Disagree0

90% agree with the poster (can't agree fully becuase he did play against Blackburn). However Song's immense. By the way where was yann M'villa when rennes conceeded 44 goals in Ligue 1 last season? Unlike Song he started in all games for the french side.

Agree1 Disagree0

Song has been one of if not our best player over the last 3 years. I would keep him and offer him an improved contract if necessary.
Chess

Agree1 Disagree0

Song is a fantastic player. Strong, fast, great passer and a good tackler. Underrated for many years, and the year that he's getting plaudits for his attacking game is the year that some of the fans start to get on his back.

We need a presence like Song in the midfield that is willing to go strong in the tackle and doesn't mind being the one to take the yellow for the good of the team.

£12m shouldn't be a fee realistic for Song, and I don't think that he'll be leaving. One of our best players and deserves to be treated as such. Give him a new contract and a big fat pay rise, Arsene.

Agree1 Disagree0

Song is a overrated liability and sooner we cash in on his overrated hype the better.

Eds, something came to my mind. It's about this Barca-Song noise going on. Is it possible Arsenal now have a policy that anyone who has 2 years left on his contract but refuses to discuss an extension will be sold pronto. But then, Barca? They cannot pay him as much as we will pay and I am not sure of the regularity of the salary. Barca is broke! {Ed002's Note - Barcelona has the highest average wage bill of any pro sports team for a first team squad. Arsenals average first team squad wage is only 60% of Barcelonas. You have perhaps been misinformed.}

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Ed, so why did Cesc have to take a pay cut? I think it is the salary of the likes of Messi making the average look high. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if he did or not. But what you wrote is completely incorrect.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, so what happened to reasonable right to reply? You posted previous comments submitted at the same time as a comment posted on this thread, but a comment where I pointed out an editor (whom I have the utmost respect for actually taking the time to edit and moderate these pages) that had made a statement that was simply wrong doesn't get posted. The comment wasn't disrespectful or insulting. I simply stated that Barca's financial problems are well documented and that Cesc did indeed take a pay cut albeit a paycut that was almost nullified by the fact he is paying far less income tax. Ok, I pointed out the fact that the editors really are no more in the know about transfers than pretty much anyone else on the page but I also pointed out that I wasn't and am still not having a pop at editors who I am pretty certain maintain this site out of a passion for their team rather than any personal gain. So, come on, play fair. I still think that after wading through the nonsense posted here you can still always find some gems that make the site invaluable to football fans. A great example is the Cazorla story, that to the best of my knowledge surfaced here first. {Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you are referring to. There are several editors who have access to the Arsenal pages with, I imagine, various degrees of knowledge of the subject. I have noticed that there has been some misinformation provided by one of the Editors in particular recently, but it really is not a big deal as far as I can tell. In respect of this post, I was addressing the entirely erroneous comment "Barca? They cannot pay him as much as we will pay and I am not sure of the regularity of the salary. Barca is broke!". I explained that the average first team wage at Barcelona is very considerably more than that at Arsenal. The original post was not yours so I really don't know where your beef is coming from. I can only assume one of the other editors cut your post.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that what he means is Barca is in an incredible amount of debt, and have been given a very small transfer budget (for a big club). So Song, who would not be a main player would not be paid as much as he is for the backbone of Arsenal,

I am an big arsenal fan however I firstly support Celtic. as a season ticket holder at Parkhead I can assure anyone with any doubts about the capabilities of big Vic, that he is class. seen M'Vila at Parkhead with Rennes last season and although it was only one match, his performance doesn't compare to Wanyama's, week in week out. big Vic is the cheaper and IMO the better option for a CDM transfer option. Although i don't want to lose him this season, I couldn't think of a better club for him to transfer to, in order to progress into the world class talent i am certain he can be.

See, stuff like this is great to hear and thanks for posting. A few Celtic fans have come out of the woodwork recently and said really promising things. This is one deal where I would love it if Wenger actually didn't spend a fortune on M'Vila just because of the hype, and actually got a better cheaper option.

It would be good business, it would cost less, we could probably pay him half the wages M'Vila would demand, he would go from relative obscurity to a hero here if he's a success (don't know about you lot but I'd never heard of this guy until he was mentioned on here), Wenger gets an ego boost after signing another random player nobody had considered, and we have more money to play with in Jan or next summer. I think Europe is probably over-stocked with DMs, I really don't understand why we'd pay £15m+ for one. I know many rate M'Vila but ratings and requirements are two different things.

Metal Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Jaiza1888, thank you. Could you kindly go further and advise, nay, instigate the young man to choose Arsenal above anybody else. Thank you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol cute. If your gonna judge then perhaps do it after watching M'Vila play for France, alongside better players - he is incredible and I hope we sign him over Wanyama because yeah wanyama might be decent in the SPL but the EPL is a huge step up and I don't think he's ready for it :). However, M'vila plays amazingly well with world-class players around him (France). :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you mate for your info.

Agree0 Disagree0

Watch the two Victor Wanyama videos on YouTube. There's one (Victor Wanyama II - Celtic and Kenya) where he has a pretty strong Inter Milan midfield in his back pocket. Could definitely cut it at Arsenal if he played like that every week. I'm a Celtic fan by the way and I see no reason why he couldn't - he's rarely had a poor game for us and when he has his teammates have been as much to blame. He'd be a far more shrewd signing than M'Vila for probably about half the price and would definitely fit into Arsenal's system.

But Arsene is free to keep pursuing M'Vila if it means we can keep Wanyama :-)
