David Ornstein has today said that 'AFC interested in Mustafi, no bid yet and others inc CFC keen, also want a striker but not pursuing Mahrez/ Draxler'

As far as I'm concerned, he's probably the most reliable out of all the journo's and 'ITK's' out there, so make of it what you will!

He was certainly first with the news Vardy was staying with Leicester and from what I've read about him he does have a very good reputation.

He states no interest in Mahrez or Draxler from us.

Yet as the eds have stated.

We've had an offer on the table for Mahrez for a while.

So he's talking dung there.

ED's, do you know if the reports about our interest in Mustafi are actually accurate?

Read a couple of bits saying he was left out of their friendly squad tonight, interested to know if he is our main defensive target.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - as I have been saying for a while, you are interested.}

are we also interested in Manolas? some reports that they are trying to make a deal with roma now that scesny loan has been dealt with?

just seems like a lot of dithering, and you did say last year wenger dithers alot.

{Ed001's Note - Manolas is a long term target, but I don't know of any recent move to sign him.}

I just don't seem to understand us. Maybe you can tell me ed if I'm missing something or just being unrealistic. We need a CB and CF. mustafi and Lacazette are available for a price. We want them and Arsene says il only buy to improve the squad. Therefore he must feel they'd improve the squad. So why will he not just pay the money? Not criticising it's a genuine question.

As an outsider, D16, it seems to me that Arsenal as a club have firm ideas over the valuation of their transfer targets and seem very stubborn on not going away from that. Id assume it is a club policy but one that Wenger is happy to go along with. Not saying its a good or bad thing but its the impression I get from the outside looking in. It does at times seem somewhat realistic, in a market where other top clubs just pay what it takes to land their preferred targets.

Not that I'm happy with rarely challenging badger but you have to say compared to other clubs that strategy hasn't done us a disservice. I think it's a case of breaking that rule when a good opportunity arises.

Any chance we might go in for Ashley Williams?

Everton bidding £10m seems to be a price point that AW would like.

I think his age is what is stopping us from moving for him. We'd need to replace both him and Kos within a few seasons. It's looking more likely we're after a defender who can stay with us for up to 10 years, hence the interest in Manolas, Mustafi, Marquinhos etc.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree SLB, there will be pros and cons for any transfer strategy I imagine.

Hiya Honey:-) always good to hear from you mate, if it's an Arsenal valuation its an Arsene valuation because the board only know what Arsene tells them about football matters.
Whats for sure is if you value a case of 20 bottles beer at 2.50 and the supermarket is charging £10 a case you ain't going to have many people turn up for your party if you stick to your guns.

As for you boys honey badger! I hate United everyone knows that but il never underestimate the club like others do on here! What club with no champions league can smash the world record and bring the worlds most sought after midfielder to their club, beating the likes of Real Madrid? Anyone who doubts the sheer massiveness off United are fools. I hate you but respect you.

Hi g62, nice to be back. Good analogy although I'm more of a cider drinker personally. But that's ok I'll bring my own to the party!

Cheers SLG. I'm happy that we can still attract top names to Old Trafford but hope its not a case of splashing loads of cash on 4/ 5 players every summer. At some stage I want our squad to be settled so we can just add the cherry on top, each summer.
