Arsenal have had a loan bid for Kieran Richardson rejected by Sunderland (says Twitter.....)
If this news is true then it is turning out to be one of THOSE transer windows. We have money left over from Cesc and Nasri ffs. Im very sensible and understand it isnt as easy as plucking players from top clubs like fifa but a Sunderland sub?
We need at least 1 signing for defo or top 4 is out of reach.
Eman.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Problem is mate,if we fork out 10 million on a left back, what happens when Santos and Gibbs are fit?....Get rid of Gibbs is the answer in my opinion but Wenger doesnt see it like that, thats why he wants to take a left back on Loan and they are not so easy to find!

Agree2 Disagree1

I sort of understand it if the intention was to have him at left-back... though saying that i cant ever remember him playing there - hasn't he always been a winger?
AG

Agree0 Disagree1

Nor does anybody else see it like that who knows anything about football.

Agree1 Disagree0

If Gibbs bulks up he could be the next Ashley Cole, I completely see why Wenger sees him long term. I think Santos is actually joint first choice right now, perhaps with a view to being 1st choice for this season, and when Gibbs grows he'll take over. Just my hunch.
Raz

Agree7 Disagree1

So get rid of Squillaci and bring in Vertonghen who can play CB or LB. Added advantage of having played alongside Verm at Ajax.

Apparently we are now looking at Arjen Robben....

Well its a pretty massive step up from Keiron Richardson but unbelievable at best.

Apparently he is not getting a run of games and they have lined up a replacement.

The price quoted is 22 million. Seems rediculous to me...

Eds you want to clear this up any information on Arjen Robben and his position at Bayern?

Gilo {Ed001's Note - I would be surprised if Robben joined Arsenal, his issues are all money related, the same issues that led to him leaving Chelsea. The word greed is very closely associated with him.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Edd you said you be surprised if T, Henry came bk to arsenal loan or other wise and you used the wrd doubt. so looks like you could be wrong on Arjen Robben also. but before you go on a rant chill and read bk some of your comments about the henry early rumours then you understand. happy new year everyone. {Ed001's Note - oh well if some nameless poster says it is happening, it must be.}

Agree2 Disagree1

Yeah that's another thing that came to mind, the wages.

Also knwon to have a bad temperment isn't he so maybe not the best dressing room character. He is some player though...

Gilo

Agree0 Disagree0

How was that a rant by the Ed? There is no way in hell we would sign robben. Get real guys! Also given his injury record, would you even want him?

Billybob452

Agree2 Disagree0

Robben will never play for arsenal in a million years, thats my opinion. Too expensive, too old, and too injury prone.

Dont get me wrong, on his day he is untouchable..and a massive reason why holland did so well in the last world cup.

Daniel

Agree3 Disagree0

Anyone who honestly believe there's a chance of us signing Robben absolutley mental. Two clear rules which are rarely broken with regards to transfers 1. Must be financially viable, and 2. The less we've heard of the player the more likley the signing is.

NottsGooner

Agree6 Disagree1

Lol Ed the poster wasn't being rude... All they're saying is that you were pretty adamant about Henry not coming, which tbf you were

Every time it was mentioned you had a note stating your disagreeing opinion as he'd played a full season and was wanted back and you were sure he wouldn't join up.

Now, not that I agree w/ poster even though they're not saying it'll happen either they're saying "apparently", but it's still a possibility...

=Miss Arsenal. {Ed001's Note - yes, an opinion. I said it was my opinion that he wouldn't want to, just like the Robben thing is. What is the point of your post? And the previous one? Just to whine that someone has a different opinion than them?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Shaqiri thats a great signing if u ask me
check the guy out amazing player

Agree2 Disagree1

Ed just out of curiosity why do you find it so hard to simply say 'fair enough - I did say that, I got it wrong' ? Not that it's any of my business this one but you did point blank refuse to accept the idea Henry would come, and now he's coming, someone's said the other day as banter at first that you'd said what you did, and then, just like a few days later and now today, you're being snotty about. Cheer up and take the banter we all get shown we're wrong. Every single week I say Wenger will do this and that because it makes sense, and every week I'm wrong, I don't kick up a stinker every time someone points it out, nor do many others. You are the moodiest Ed by far haha.
Raz {Ed001's Note - if you saw the abusive posts I have to delete about it you wouldn't be inclined to find it funny either. In January I am lucky to get 2 hours kip a night, just so I can keep these sites going and have to put up with nameless idiots posting abuse constantly. I gave an opinion, that was all it was and yes it was wrong, what does it matter?}

Agree2 Disagree1

Wow this is getting unnecesarily heated. Ed has a point here guys - we do look to him for insight on transfers and at least his rationale for why Henry did not make sense was clear.

Frankly, it is the reason that I have zero expectations of henry over the next 2 months.

Furthermore, if I was the ed, my response would not have been much different in regards to robben or pato, or tevez - or other posts that simply aren't true.

Billybob452

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that i believe the robben rumour but when he was at chelski he admitted he was a huge arsenal fan

so Reus turned down offers from Bayern, Real and sadly us :-(

Believable3 Unbelievable2

:( he said he supported us as a boy too. you cut me deep marco, you cut me real deep.

Agree3 Disagree0

From a career standpoint, this is probably the surest move for him. he doesn't have to switch countries, doesn't have the pressure of bayern and can still fight for the title with dortmund

would have loved to sign him

US Gooner

Agree2 Disagree0

I can only assume he is Gotze's replacement, but he is class and this was a great signing by BVB

I Was Reading Something Today And Supposedly It Was Gazidis Who Signed Park Obviously For Commercial Gain.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

If this really is true then why the f*** did we not sign Honda?! Top class player from Asia. Surely he would have been able to bring more commercial gain whilst we get a top class player?

Obvcourse we don't think like that.....

G95 {Ed001's Note - to be fair, he was refusing to enter negotiations with anyone while Japan were in the Asian Nations, as they got to the final, that cut down on the chance of him moving anywhere last Jan. His club were not willing to let him go in the summer, as it was the middle of their season.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Would be very interested to see the source for this. Wenger has always spoke highly of Park - and it seemed like a typical Wenger signing.

Agree1 Disagree1

But There's Not A Player That Wenger Puts Down It's Not His Style

Agree1 Disagree0

That's true, Wenger speaks highly of everyone - and if he knew Gazidis was about to sign him, he certainly wouldn't speak badly.

Raz

Agree1 Disagree1

So, with the next pre-season taking place in Nigeria. Who will we buy to promote next seasons jersey's? Kanu on loan?

TopLondoner

Agree1 Disagree0

I dont understand how signing for commercial gain could ever be a bad thing? We havnt seen enough of him to say he's a bad player, and the captain of the korean national side (who arent all that bad) has to be better than chamakh.

NottsGooner

Agree3 Disagree0

Arsenal has real attacking problems, and chamack gets games ahead of park??!?!? Wenger isnt interested in park in my mind, and a boost in revenue after our pre-season tour of asia is screaming out..

Park would be good if he got a chance, but I dont think he will...not this season anyway.

Daniel

Agree1 Disagree1

Guys he doesn't even have a long term future at the club - he has national duty at the end of next season.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree1

Even more of a reason to play him ahead of Chamakh.

NottsGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed! Seems as though we have kind of just killed his career two years early. Wenger has made a point of saying 'it took ages for Bergkamp to adapt' or 'Hnery didn't start playing well for 2 months' - well Arsene, we signed him back in when, August? So it's been around six, he's played twice and scored once. Play him ffs.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be very surprised if this transfer wasn't the reason behind this transfer. I think Park was just a flop - as was Jeffers, Wiltord (to some degree), Baptista, etc...

No manager gets it right everytime. Wenger thought he found a good cheap striker, with experience and decent finishing in Ligue 1.

This is exactly the type of transfer the Wenger typically makes. When they work we get players like Henry and RVP!

Billybob452

Agree1 Disagree2

If Park would be good enough, he would play more, he's adaprting for a very long time. Chamakh also. Why we alwas buy a player that is adapting one or two years and then we all noticed that is not good enough. We need world class, not average players. We are Arsenal!!

We supposedly have scouts all over the world looking to unearth the next talent.... why is it then when we are in urgent of full backs we go to Kieran Richardson which laughably was rejected, i understand wenger wants a loan to cover for the injuries but surly there must be someone out there to come in.... and quick!!!

And this Oman international wasnt spooted by a scout, he was supposedly recommended to wenger by wait for it... Paul le Guen

N. Wales gunner

Believable1 Unbelievable0

There has been NO contact from Arsenal for richardson whatsoever it is all made up. It has already been confirmed!

Agree2 Disagree1

Paul le Guen coaches the Oman national team so I would imagine he knows more about Saad al-Mukhaini than anybody else.

Surely it's a good thing that the recommendation comes from someone who has worked closely with the player.

Agree2 Disagree0

I dont understand people's problem with Kieran Richardson we need a loaned LB do people expect us to go for Evra or A.Cole? we're not going to get a world class left back on loan and we don't have the space in the squad for a permanent signing, kieran richardson would have been a perfect loan deal imho

Agree3 Disagree2

Agree to a point, plus he is english...homegrown rule, etc so maybe it does make sense ?

I just wish we could off load a few so we can bring in some new players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, so now we are linked to a player who plays for the Omani 2nd league club. Deal stinks as much as the bebe deal.

Wenger the french Fermier just tried to sign Kieran Richardson on loan, seriously what is he doing? we need a good creative mid field, walcott and ramsey are doing so badly compared to our Jack last season, Wenger needs to bring in the Ox. Walcott needs to learn a lesson asking for £85 grand a week and just putting in the most shocking crosses into the box and one on one he is so dire it hurts. We need a good creative winger, mid, striker and defender (maybe). I still say Wenger should sign Podolski, top scorer in the Bundisliga

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Gomez and Huntelaar have both got more goals than Podolski in the league..

Agree6 Disagree1

^^^
Gomez is now great (there is hope of chamakh improving he used to be pants!)

Did Nigeria qualify for ACON? If they did that must surely count Taiwo out of the runnings for left back.

HP

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Nope the only good african clubs that qualified was ghana and ivory coast is frimpong going though?

Agree0 Disagree2

Doesn't he play for england tho...?

Agree1 Disagree2

He plays for WOLVES, so for us, he could play anywhere in the world right now and it wouldnt matter.

Agree2 Disagree1

Frimpong has chosen Ghana who are through but he hasn't had a call up. I don't know what the 'He plays for WOLVES' guy's problem is!
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Ghana was his first choice, but wenger is pushing hard to get him to play for england so he doesnt disapear ever 2 years along with gervinho and song

so Reus is off to Dortmund in summer. BVB dont want to sell Gotze to Bayern. Wenger did bid big in summer for him.
But a move in january is highly unlikely.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I think BVB are resigned to losing Gotze in the summer. I suspect they will wait after the Euro when in price will undoubtedly be inflated. I suspect the new stars on the block (Hazard and Gotze), will end up at either Real Madrid or Barcelona - with a chance for Man City to get in the mix.

Agree1 Disagree2

Looking at some european transfer sites, they are saying Lille have put a £43 million price tag on Hazard.

Update:
Huge day for Borussia Dortmund, securing deal for Marco Reus from Monchengladbach and star Mario Gotze agrees to stay until 2013...more to follow on site shortly

So Reus moves to Dortmund. at least i think that it is saying that, and this cancels any deal we would have had for him

Batch

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Raises his price for any potential suitors. Also witha large signing incoming it would be hard not to see BVB losing players too...Where and who, we'll have to see

so no move for taiwo

He told notiziariosportivo.com: "At the moment there is no huge news about Nigerian players, with Arsenal there was only a rumour.

"I certainly don't know that Arsene Wenger is looking for a left-back but at this time there has not been any official offer at AC Milan."

batch

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Well, I wouldn't say there won't be a move...just not yet. A move for Taiwo makes too much sense for Wenger to not consider. Also, it's not above Arsene to have AC Milan make a statement to the contrary before signing. Typical AW tactic.

Agree1 Disagree3

Ac milan arent making a statement, his agent is. Arsenal havent shown interest in signing him (yet) this january - thats a fact his agent has pointed out. Accept it. Dont try and turn it into something else. Thats called wishful thinking.

Agree2 Disagree2

With Sagna nearing return, I think Wenger will rely on the existing squad and perhaps some youngsters.

Vermaelen is also expected back in 2-3 weeks, so its a case of surviving jan.

Just heard a wild one about Arsenal/Fulham planning an Arshavin/Dembele (loan/permanent) swap deal...

Confused b/c last I heard Ryo was going to Fulham on loan. Anyone else hearing this?

=Miss Arsenal

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Where did you hear this?

Surely this is just cauldron stirring?

Raz

Agree4 Disagree3

Was it not confirmed Ryo was going back to Feyenord.

Agree0 Disagree2

Would love this to happen. is "miss arsenal" reliable? dembele is like that kid at school whos impossible to get the bloody ball off.

Agree5 Disagree2

Haha so was Ruiz the other day. I'd prefer Sessegnon to Dembele but there's little in it. Don't worry Miss A I wasn't criticizing your post, just wondered about the news - the rumour is cauldron stirring not you haha.
Raz

Agree1 Disagree1

When I first saw Dembele playing at Alkmaar a few years ago I thought he looked like a Wenger 'type' player, but the thing that struck me more than anything was the how much he reminded me of a young Henry in the way he moves and runs with the ball, maybe this is what Wenger likes in this guy....
With regard to the rumour, can't see it happening, although I think Dembele would provide more attacking drive than Arshavin at present. Not sure Arshavin would take a wage cut....

Ryo is close to joining fulham on loan!

Cant belive the ppl on here were do you get your ideas from , weres the loyality arsene wenger is not only a great arsenal manager hes one of the greatest english football as seen

Agree11 Disagree5

Agreed. Everyone knocking him would get a wake up call if he left and we got years of mediocrity. Better than Bill Shankly or Brian Clough.

Agree7 Disagree5

Come on guy's we have moved on from the glory years and AW has gone downhill especially when it comes down to signings and the use of substitutes.
There is nothing wrong with us as supporters comenting on the manager's performance.

Better than Shanks, what planet are you on u fool

KopEndDannyLFC

Hey why dont we just sack Wenger and bring back Bruce Rioch, Then the glory years will surely return.

Gavsta

Agree3 Disagree7

Just remember who signed Dennis Bergkamp.

Agree5 Disagree2

@DannyLFC. Yep definitely. Shankly was good but Wenger built our club and has run it economically in an unbelievable way. Shankly was a great manager but only equal on the pitch in what he did to what Wenger has achieved. Economically Wenger is in a different class. He knows how to run a football club like no one Ive seen. The only other managers around who are worthy of comparison are Guardiola and Bielsa. {Ed001's Note - Pep? Who has run Barca into a black hole of debt?}

Agree3 Disagree2

Very true it was in bruce's time but i really believe that was more down to Mr Dein rather then Rioch altho i could be wrong. what ever happened to Rioch anyway hes been quiet over the years.

Podolski and Baines now.
Creative mid in the summer.
Sell some rubbish.
Arsenal back in business.

4-3-3
-----------------Szczesny-------------------
--Sagna-------TV--------Kos------Baines--
-------------------Song----------------------
----------Wilshere--------?----------------
--Gervinho--------RVP----------Podolski--

or 4-1-3-2

-----------------Szczesny-------------------
--Sagna-------TV--------Kos-------Baines-
--------------------Song---------------------
----Gervinho----Wilshere-----??---------
----------Van Persie-----Podolski----------

But one question is, who should be the creative mid we buy? Kaka? Gotze? Harzard? Dzagoev? Gourcuff? Martin?
Who do you guys think would be the best person for the job, taking money, EPL adaptability, likeliness and skill into account?
I personally would go for Gotze but we would have to sell Walcott as well to raise funds.

But apart from the creative mid, are Baines and Podolski so hard and unlikely to sign? Two 15 mil signings and we would be SO much better off.
Nick.

Believable15 Unbelievable5

What about Ramsey? , i've read a lot of comments on here of people not rating him , but for me he's the biggest creative spark we have in the team at the moment , i personally am worried with Gervinho looks very average at best!

Agree10 Disagree4

Sell walclott absolute dross most of the time buy a player with an end product or promote oxlade chamberlain.

Agree12 Disagree4

Ramsey is getting better and better remember he nearly had his careeer wrecked by shawcross him our only decent performer against fulham.

Agree16 Disagree3

Which creative mid?

I think who ever we can get from that list, plus... not only is there a fee to meet (you know arsenal love to spend- not), there's availibility, there is also big competition for are lot of those players, depends where we finish in the league (i.e. in or out of top 4). I don't think its as simple as picking a chocolate from a shop, as I said I think it might be down to who we can get tbh.

Apparently podolski stalled contract talks with Koln, hopefully we get him, although I doubt it

Believable9 Unbelievable8
