edd will arshavin leave? and what about bendtner or denilson how long will it take to get rid of them

{Ed022's Note - I don't think Arshavin will leave (although I have said the same about Nasri!) I think he is an excellent impact player (on his day) and feel he would add good experience to our very young squad. As for Bendtner and Denilson it seems there isnt much interest (not that I am suprised) but I am not giving up hope in someone coming in with a decent offer. For Bendtner I would accept a packet of Danish bacon and a crate of Carlsberg!}

Believable18 Unbelievable1

Gee Ed that's a pretty generous offer m

Agree0 Disagree0

Just the bacon would do

{Ed022's Note - I want something to wash down the bacon sandwiches!}

ed what is likelyhood of mata coming and does it depend on whether nasri does actually leave.

{Ed022's Note - Said this before but it does depend on Nasri's situation. Also Liverpool were keen and if they show interest we may struggle to match them financially but could offer more from a footballing perspective...}

Arsenal Team 2011/2012 ( IF Cesc and Nasri both leave)

Szczesny
Sagna Cahill TV5 Baines
Song M'Vila
Wilshere
Walcott Benzema VanPersie

Subs: Fabianski, Koshielny, Djourou, Ramsey, Arshavin,
Gervinho, Chamakh

IMO this team is much more solid and would help our defence a lot. Also the 3 up top would cause any team problems.

What do you think Ed022? Could we compete with this team? {Ed022's Note - I think it is a good team. M'Vila is untried in the premiership which make mean he'd struggle. Could you think of a PL experienced player that we could sign just out of interest?? I think Benzema would score goals for fun for us with the way we play the game.}

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Tiote?, Essien?, DeJong?

However Tiote is the only one there who is not near impossible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tiote? Essien? DeJong?
However, only Tiote is not near impossible.

Or Buy Vertonghen/Subotic to partner Cahill and play TV5 at CDM

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are looking for someone to fill the M'Vila position with PL experience then I think that Rodwell, Tiote (personally rate this guy very highly), Fellaini, Mascherano could all do jobs, as well as the obvious name Parker. What do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - what about Gary Medel? Or Heitinga? Neither are the best players in the world, but both have very real bite to their play.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Joey barton? Experienced in the prem and would add that bite. Him and jack would eat most players that cause problems for us. Or even reo-coker being in a free, aw is a known admirer. Or maybe scharnar( spelling) can cover position across back 4. But imo I wouldn't mind barton cause on his day his passing game is immense. Just temper and anger issues. Reo coker is another I wouldn't mind playing for us. Energy levels are good and hungry enough to push for top football. Or could even take an ex player muamba. Knows arsenals football. And hasn't done too bad at bolton.( wasn't he billed as the English vieria wen younger?) Wht do you think of those 4 ed? {Ed001's Note - they are all crap if you ask me.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Medel joined Sevilla in January for 6/7 million euros, so it would take a decent bid to get him so early after a transfer Although Sevilla awknowleged when they signed him that if he played well and someone bid a decent fee they wouldn't stop him leaving
Tim {Ed001's Note - exactly, he is available for around the 10m mark and I think he is worth it. I would suggest Vidal but he would cost much more.}

Agree0 Disagree0

You forgot gibbs is he not an AFC player anymore?? He is a talented played stop putting our youngsters down, why do you think cashley, bentley and simpson left. he is actually better than clichy and with a run in team will prove that. maybe if our own fans weren't so hard on our own players they wouldn't want to leave. Frimpong is ready to step up but you all want someone spanish, eastmond will be ready next season or might start this season. Bartley is highly thought of, Lansbury is highly thought of and will be assessed pre season. We need a couple of CB's and a striker with walcott pushed up front more too that's all. contrary to most people on here eboue was recently given a new contract and accepted it he may be shakey sometimes but he is AFC thru and thru and he knows his job as a utility man and he loves it, he has won the fans back with his comedy antics and commitment, what he lacks in quality he ouzes in loyalty and hardwork he is popular in the dressing room and would only leave if he was pushed FACT.

North Bank Elite {Ed009's Note - Gibbs is far better than Clichy and Wenger knows it. If he wasn't so ridiculously injury prone he would've displaced Clichy in the team a long time ago.}

04 Jul 2011 23:20:30
First team, hopefully, next year:
Keeper - Shezney
RB - Sagna
CB - VT5, Vertoghen
LB - Enrique
DMC - Song
MC - Nasri
MC - Wilshire
AMR - Gervinho
AML - Hazrd
S -RVP

This is quite a strong team but would struggle if injuries took a few key players {Ed022's Note - Which seems to be our problem over the last few seasons! Our strongest XI is a match for most. Our bench/fringe players have let us down. Wenger said at the end of the season he would strengthen the squad. Lets hope he does!}

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Not sure who you think will be sold but koscielny gibbs and djourou would defensive back up. ramsey diaby denilson frimpong as midfield back up. walcott arshavin bendtner as attacking back up. that is 20 player squad which should be able to challenge with anyone over a season

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 23:08:26
quick question to whoever knows the answer? what is the ruling re size of squads? if its, lets say 22 players and AW, by some remote chance, brings in 5 or 6 top quality players that would need to be included in the 22, what happens to the ones over and above the said figure.. for instance .. if eboue and denilson are not included and nobody (not even a scottish 2nd division side) wants them and we already have the allotted number of players, does this mean that they sit in the stands every week yet still get paid thousands? possibly this is why wenger hasn't gone into the market as swiftly as we would have wanted? perhaps if no-one wants the like of the two just mentioned or bendtner or vela or whoever AW deems surplus, we just have to sit and wait for their contracts to expire and then bin them otherwise i cant see the reason for any delay..the idea that he wont buy to save a months wages is ridiculous maybe there is someone out there whos privvy to the knowledge i now seek and can enlighten me please or maybe my other theory that includes the words ''duck'' and ''arse'' is more likely the cause of the non movement within the transfer market?

The Night Doctor..

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I believe it's 25 players named in squad. Not 100% but think it is.

{Ed022's Note - Its a 25 man squad. Players not registered and not under the age of 21 that season will be ineligible to play so in theory would be sat in the stands picking up their wages for doing nothing.}

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 23:07:57
With Cliche gone I believe Lyons Aly Cissokho will be the player Wenger goes for.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

04 Jul 2011 22:49:59
Wow, Cichy is gone, who cares. Now lets get a solid left back that the defence can rely on but who can also attack. Personally i would go for Enrique because he is cheaper and just as good as Baines.

Then buy Vertonghen for CB and he can play alongside Laurent Koscielny. Now, trust me on this, put Vermaelen CDM, he can defend, hold, attack, head etc. thats thinking outside the box.

Then we need at least one if not two new good midfielders. This could come in the form of Parker or others and i know there is little chance but even kaka? This would challenge Fabregas and Nasri etc. for their positions and if they dont want to challenge they can leave and we can take the money.

Finally, buy Gervinho and Hazard in a deal with Lille and hopefully we can reduce the price by giving them some players. Forget Mata, he costs more than he is worth.

...So the practical team would be

Scezny
Sagna Koscielny Vertonghen Enrique
Vermealen Parker
Wilshere Fabregas
Van Persie
Gervinho

Believable3 Unbelievable21

Are we bothering with wide men at all or are we just playing 4 central midfielders?

{Ed022's Note - I did think the same myself. Very narrow with no natural width...}

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Nasri? Walcott? Fabs More Likely To Go Than Nasri

Agree0 Disagree0

Also if you are going to buy Hazard and Gervinho from Lille you would probably have to start both of them

Edd will tevez join another premiership team or will ge abroad {Ed022's Note - My hunch is Real Madrid. This will nicely free up Benzema and Higuain...}

Believable19 Unbelievable0

Edd so if tevez goes to Madrid who is more likely to join arsenal higuain or benzema I'd prefer higuain

{Ed022's Note - Benzema is further down the pecking order at Madrid. Mourinho likes Higuain. I would see us getting Benzema over Higuain although both would have to take a cut in wages...}

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon City will try to get Benzema in any deal they do with Madrid anyway... Unless City sign a striker first

{Ed022's Note - That could be an option for them. If this was the case then obviously we'd be blown out the water!}

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see how spain is any nearer to argentina than england? why not bring his daughters here like the majority of foreign players? i think its just a money thing at the end of the day.. greedy git

The more I see the younger kids (Frimpong, Jay Emmanuel, Aneke, etc) the more I think we are ok from the midfield up with our current squad (even in Cesc leaves) the real problem is from Defensive Midfield down. If we get a good, tough DM like we used to have (the last good one Vieira) like Mascherano or Felipe Melo (even if his time at Juventus hasnt been the best) or any other, and a couple of good CB, big and tough, like Samba, Cahill, Rakytskyi (form Shakhtar is great), we will be ok. I do expect AW to get a solid defense for this year, since that was our biggest weakness last year and the reason for lost/tied games which should have been won. Edd what do you think?

{Ed022's Note - Its been said time and again. Our defence has been the issue for the last few seasons. On an attacking front we have just about enough, although id like a few more players to strengthen the depth of the squad. Priority for me two CBs and squillaci gone. A top quality defensive midfielder and possibly an experienced gk.}

Looks like we losing out on Alveraz to Inter Milan. ED:- Do you think we were actually after him or was it just rumour?
I think we are missing David Dein big time in transfer negotiations. This Gazidias bloke may be talented a negotiator but is not from a football background so will take him time to build up that skilled communication with clubs and agents and get a feel for player values.

{Ed022's Note - I will be completely honest, I hadn't even heard of him or seen anything of him until a month or so ago. Personally, I don't think there was much concrete interest. It seems we are enquiring about a lot of players without actually making many bids!}

Believable2 Unbelievable6

04 Jul 2011 22:33:12
Losing Clichy isn't a major loss and it doesn't matter we haven't lined up a replacement, vermaalen said he'd play left back which may be a hint that we have made an accepted bid for a centre back (Cahill, Vertongen)

Believable9 Unbelievable4

04 Jul 2011 22:31:49
ED, could walcott really go to chelsea what do u think.thanks

{Ed022's Note - I cant see it happening if I am honest. I still say he should be moved upfront and given a chance.}

Believable11 Unbelievable0

He scored so many goals as a striker when he was a youth, I agree he should be given a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Been saying this for a couple of years, he could easily be another Henry, afterall he was a winger when he joined

04 Jul 2011 21:27:11
ed do you know who was missing at training today? and for what reason? thanks {Ed022's Note - As far as I am aware, all the usual suspects reported back for their pre-season fitness tests at London Colney. Fabregas and Nasri were both there today. Only player missing of note was Clichy who completed a move to Man City today.}

Believable12 Unbelievable1

04 Jul 2011 22:28:25
It was inevitable that Clichy was going to leave and it looks like Nasri and Fabregas are on their way too. That's 3 of our starting 11 gone for a little over £50 million, the best way forward is to invest because by the looks of things I can only see Gervinhio and that Charlton kid being our only signings, Wenger must realize he can't rely on bringing through youngsters every season he must spend the cash that is given to him to replace the players leaving with just as big players. Personally I would love to see Cahill, Baines, Arteta and Benzema to come in or yet again suffer a humilating trophiless season for the 7th year in a row

Arsenal Boss Looks to Appease Fans and Star Players With £42m Double Attacker Bid.Thats what it says on caughtoffside.com and these players that they are talking about are hazard and mata and i think they would be good signings 22 million for hazard and 23 million for mata and maybe just maybe sell walcott for 20-30 million to pay towards these signings (what do u think Ed ??)

{Ed022's Note - To show intent we should sign the two WITHOUT having to sell Walcott. I would like Walcott given the chance up front. Especially if we sign some attacking wingers like Hazard and Mata. This would allow Theo to be pushed upfront where I feel he will blossom.}

I'm afraid that Nasri will join Utd on Friday

We will sign Gervinho and Jagelka. If the Jagielka deal does not happen then its just Gervinho.

Sorry but this really comes from a good friend of mine.
Wait and see and stop dreaming

Also Bendtner will go out on loan and Denilson will join Roma

Gibbs and Traore will be fighting for LB position

Believable13 Unbelievable13

Hes not going to united , your source is rubbish

Post again on Friday and eat some humble pie....

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim (and I left my Email)

{Ed022's Note - I rarely look at emails and I definitely dont make notes of them. Try adding names like Night Doctor, A GOONER, Ben, Ike, Si-Fan etc do... Helps us know who thinks what and makes for better banter...}

Agree0 Disagree0

How the hell is Ben or Ike any different to Tim

But just to keep in with the swing of things I will always be Tim Bergy

{Ed022's Note - I didn't say they were "different" So get over yourself and stop getting your knickers in a knot! I merely said put a name to your post! It helps create better banter and a bit of familiarity!}

It is very unlikely wenger will spend 20-25 million on mata. I expect him to join liverpool. Hazard is not gonna happen. He'll probably stay at lille. It will be difficult for arsenal to sign top top players, as the exodus has been made public. Very unproffessional imo. no one wants to join a club thats 'currently' in turmoil. Other clubs in the top 6 will strengthen and arsenal could well fall behind and struggle to make top 4

Believable3 Unbelievable7

04 Jul 2011 19:34:03
This 'steel' thing people say we need is bollocks. What we need are players who are proud to be gunners and will yell at players who are hopping about doing naught when they should be tracking back--if you want steel, Song and Wilshere provide plenty of that, they just get too far forward and leave the defence exposed.

RVP yells but he's too far forward. Even if cesc does not go, he cannot be captain anymore--that must go to TV with RVP as vice-captain.

A striker, a centre back, a defensive mid... these would all help, but to be honest we have a team that can win the title already as long as the players are motivated enough. Last season it was Wilshere, RVP, and Sagna who cared. We just need more people who care.

Believable8 Unbelievable5

I totally agree with him, We need players that are passionate and give all out for the team. Not players who thinks about his home team. Fab needs to be stripped of the captaincy

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 19:33:44
Regarding Clichy I appreciate he is an above average LB but he is no more thsn just that. Average in the tackle - OK good and going forward but the crosses he puts in hardly ever go past the first defender. Baines great is the best in the land. The Kevin Doyle speculation would be a cracking investment, he would slip into Arsenals style no problem. Tim

Believable4 Unbelievable12

I honestly think doyle would not fit in, we need players such as gervinho, mata, samba, cahill and benzema, they would fit in really well

Agree0 Disagree0

Doyle holes up the ball very well and is a very tidy finisher if he can get 10 goals for wolves tink what he could get wit the amount of chances we make

Agree0 Disagree0

People keep refering to the doyle rumors as a joke and a lack of the clubs ambiton. I agree that a signing like Doyle would not be a "marquee" dealing, like most fans long for. He would provide an excellent option off the bench. He has notching double digit goals for a defensive minded club. Much better option than Niky B and would give chamak a competition. Not mention premiership experience. A few big names surely must be brought in, but we must also look to better the entire squad.

DO YOU THINK NASRI WILL STAY
BECAUSE I DONT HE WILL GO WERE THE MONEY.I WOULD AND YOU WOULD 2 THATS LIFE

If I ever played for Arsenal, no amount of money could ever tempt me away.

A GOONER

{Ed022's Note - Thats the difference between US and players. We would bleed for the Arsenal cause. To players its the job, their lifestyle, their next payday. Loyalty for a club is earned by foreign players. (Henry and RVP are loyal "Gooners" over time. They love the club.) Most players aren't Arsenal fans but they are Arsenal players. The Adams, Winterburn, Parlours of the world are now your Gibbs, Frimpong and Wilshere's. I just hope we do enough to keep these players here!}

Believable9 Unbelievable4

So true

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed022

OMG, u forgot one of the 1st Foreigners that led from the beginning.

I like to call him GOD, but most ppl call him bergkamp (The iceman)

{Ed022's Note - One of the greatest players to ever pull on the Arsenal shirt. Legend. Icon.}

Agree0 Disagree0

All this going for the money talk is poppycock, to us £20,0000 to £60,000 a year is life changing but for them going from £60,000 to £140,000 a week isn't.
Think about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 19:15:27
So Clichy has chosen the blue side of Manchester. Didnt they spent a silly amount last season on a left back? The trouble with a move to City is your easily replaced if it goes Pete Tong James Milner (30 million) soon to be on a show called "Where are they now" lol

{Ed022's Note - They have Kolarov, Boateng, Lescott, Zabaletta and of course Bridge who can or do play at Left Back. Clichy has a job on just getting onto the team bus!}

Believable15 Unbelievable2

Man dont disrespect the man, he has done absolutely well for Arsenal. He has had a down time, but dont forget all good years he delivered and who remembered Cashly Hole after his exit. i wouldn't be surprised if he would become a regular at City.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed022, I would argue that Wayne Bridge in fact cannot play left back
Hope Clichy plays to be honest - his price on fantasy football should still be cheaper than the other City defenders after playing in our leaky defence for the past few years

i know losing clichy (officially announced now) isn't as big loss as say, losing nasri or cesc, but i'm still horribly annoyed with the fact the the transfer fell through before we had a replacement signed for him or at least something in the works
its not like there aren't absolutely any options available (hint: baines, izaguirre, jose enrique, vertonghen, me, the one-legged kid who lives next door, his blind brother, the dead guy down the street...anyone)

now yes, people may say we have kibbs as a ready replacement but i still think for a club that's supposed to be mounting a challenge on 3-4 different fronts we need as a good a squad as we can afford to have...and lets face it, kibbs hasn't been in the best of physical shapes...our entire squad hasn't and we need to be prepared to face an injury or two...

ignoring the rumours flying about, even if cesc and nasri stay, we still need players coming
more so if they (or just fabregas) were to leave...
i have no qualms about wenger having to let a few contract rebels leave considering the beating club loyalty has taken over the past few years, but only if he is willing AND ABLE to get some genuine 'game-ready' quality replacements in...hopefully before the outgoing transfer falls through...

but then again i guess that'll only happen in a utopian world...i guess its back to playing Le Prof's favourite 'waiting game'...
us Gooners have a long, long month ahead

rant over good mental health to you all

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Ive never seen Kibbs play, is he any good?

I have heard today from a friend in the know that Defoe is having a medical in the south of france ahead of a north london switch, the friend who told me is a die hard spurs fan who seems quite upset at this prospect... heard it before but what do you think about this one now Ed? {Ed022's Note - Never gonna happen. That ship has sailed...}

Believable7 Unbelievable15

With respect ED you are wrong Defoe has already been is france for a series of test etc, he wants to sign, we want him.

Agree0 Disagree0

You know we aren't a French club right? None of our staff barring a few scouts are in France. Especially not the medical team. If Defoe was to have a medical it would be at London Colney. So stop talking crap.

There is a rumour on news now that Wenger is trying to sign Diego. {Ed022's Note - Never gonna happen...}

Believable5 Unbelievable17

Ed what makes u think that

{Ed022's Note - Gut instinct. He's known for causing dressing room unrest. Not a Wenger signing attribute, hence Gallas, Flamini, Adebayor and seemingly Clichy were let go because of their inability to tow the Wenger line. Just an opinion of mine. Doesn't make it impossible.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will be the ideal replacement for Fabregas or Modric, i do think he will be a hit in the Pl..His bevavoir with Wolsburg is over played, going there was a burden and a bad move for Diego, they wanted him to carry the team despite the fact that all the good players of the team left(Dzeko etc)..Going to Juventus was also a bad move , it is a club in crisis for the past decade at least..

See why spend 90M and isnt taking into account JET, Sunu, Coqeulin etc. I for one dont know why all the fuss over transfers this way we can sell Almunia, Eboue, Clichy, Squilacci, Rosicky, Fabregas, Nasri, Bendtner getting in over 90M. This way the hard working board can take a good bonus too see were all winners.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am struggling to understand why Wilshere would be playing as a winger? What a joke. Wilshere is one of our best players now. We will play him centrally.

mhc503

{Ed022's Note - He's put him behind the attacker as a ACM along with RVP. I think Wilshere will be that ACM in the future so for me its not a problem. He wouldnt be a winger. More of a drifter than receives the ball and makes something happen. Doesn't matter where on the pitch he is. He will make things tick!}

Agree0 Disagree0

In that case Ed where is the width coming from?

Arsenal.com finally confirm the departure of Gael Clichy after 8 years being an Arsenal player for an undisclosed fee. In my eyes this isnt a massive lost. I think Wenger should buy a experienced LB like Baines or Enrique and let Gibbs look up to them or even battle for a place.

I think Nasri will sign and even if he doesnt Wenger will not want him going to a Prem team especially Man.U and Man.C after losing Clichy to them already.

Fabregas will finally leave but only if Barcelona cough up £45million+. Barcelona seem to be stalling as they wont pay more than £35million. Real Madrid have bidded £45million and I think, even though it would be unlikely, if we sold Cesc to Madrid we could try bid for Kaka.

Cahill and Samba deals seem to be slowing down and I dont think we'll get either

Arsene needs to be thinking about getting some more cash by selling the likes of Bendtner etc.

Frustrated Arsenal Fan :@

Believable11 Unbelievable9

Barcelona doesn't have not even 30mil for Fabregas, they desperatly need CD and LB. Plus they are doing everything to sign Sanchez.
Fabregas is pro so do not be supr.if goes to Real Madrid, City or Chelsea.

Ashley Young - Last year of his contract goes for £17+ Million

Gael Clichy - Last year of his contract goes for £7million

Seriously guys dont u think we could of got alot more for him?

Looks like it may be a long summer for us Arsenal fans.

Come on Wenger give us a few quality signings Hazard, Gervinho and Vertognen (spelling) would do me and Samba please...

{Ed022's Note - Attacking players will invariably cost more than defensive players. £7m is probably double the amount we would have paid Clichy in wages and bonuses over the next year and rather than let him go for free we have got some money.}

Believable15 Unbelievable3

Thats very true Ed, i didnt think of it that way but i think we could of got just over double figures for him

Im seriously worried, if Cesc and Nasri both leave i think i might cry. 2 superior reinforcements will need to be bought to fill the gaps they will leave. Do you think we will purchase a new left back?

{Ed022's Note - I think Wenger was just keen to get a bit of cash. He could have pushed for more but I think a bit of money and an unhappy player gone. Job done!}

Agree0 Disagree0

A.Young is much better player all big wich didn't sign him have made terrible mistake.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not a big fan of A Young at all.

Ed, can you give me some insight on who were after and if the talk about us raiding Everton for a few of there players is true.

{Ed022's Note - With regards to Everton players...There is definite interest (long term) with Jagielka. If a deal can be made (unlike last year) then it could happen. Now that Clichy has gone, Baines is being touted as a replacement. AW has also had interest in Felliani and Rodwell in the past that could be reignited.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Jagielka and Baines would be 2 brill signings but as there english no doubt we will have to pay over the odds for them. Rodwell im not a big fan of but Feillani could do well for us.

Can you honestly see us being very active in this transfer window, for example we sign 3 or 4 players.

Gael Clichy gone to Man City for undisclosed fee, i for one think this is a bad business for Arsenal. Clichy is in the top 5 left backs in the world, he has his faults as does every other LB, but he kept alot of wingers and strikers at bay with his running. Gibbs isnt ready i havent seen enough of Traore to comment on him so it looks like a replacement will be brought in. Who is better than Clichy that isnt going to cost stupid money plus with him now gone teams will hold players for ransom knowing we have no choice so we will either pay too much or end up with poor replacement. Very worried.

TO Mr Clichy ALL THE BEST AND MANY THANKS(only player to come away from Nou Camp last season being able to hold his head high for us)

Paul

Believable11 Unbelievable6

Totally wrong, he was proper mugged off at the Nou camp.

A GOONER

Agree0 Disagree0

No where near the top 5 left backs in world not in any order Cole, Baines, Evra, Marcelo and lahm(if he chooses to play there)

What about Jack wilshere against barca

{Ed022's Note - Wilshere was immense against Barca at the Emirates. The boy became a man. As for Clichy being the fifth best LB in the world? I think not. Listen AW sold Winterburn and brought through Cole, he sold Cashley and brought through Clichy, he has sold Clichy and will bring through someone... Have faith!}

ED BE HONEST.
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE WAY THE CLUB IS DEALING WITH TRANSFERS?
ARE YOU HAPPY THE WAY WE LET ARE PLAYERS RUN DOWN THERE CONTRACTS?
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH IG?
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH WENGER ?
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH ARE BOARD?
BECAUSE IM NOT

{Ed022's Note - Mate I am a Gooner just like you. I am very frustrated with the lack of transfers but understand the complexity of the situations. With regards to the contracts it varies on players. Most of our key players RVP, Wilshere, Ramsey, Vermaelen etc are tied down on long term contracts. Even Fabregas is signed up til 2014. Nasri's contract would have been tied up had AW desperately wanted it done. I think there's more to this than meets the eye. Gazidis I think has struggled with the fact that David Dein was seen by many to be a master negotiator. He's seen as the man who has let several players slip through our grasp Reina and Alonso spring to mind. As for Wenger, I think he has a summer to win over fans again. If we end up trophyless by May he will walk away.}

Gael Clichy has completed his move to Manchester City from Arsenal.

It has been suggested City would be paying £7million for the full-back, who is Roberto Mancini's first summer signing.

Although Arsene Wenger was keen to keep his fellow Frenchman, with Clichy about to enter the final year of his contract, having indicated he was not willing to agree an extension, Arsenal had little option but to cash in.

So, now its official Better 7m then Zero mill next year

has no one figured out that if we get rid of nasri we still have Ramsey who in my opinion will be an even better player compared to Nasri. If Fabregas leaves look at Wenger to rekindle his interest in Gourcuff and Clichy can be easily replaced with Gibbs coming up or a signing such as Izaguirre( I think i spelt it right)

Believable11 Unbelievable12

Aw made a mistake signing nasri 3yrs bck.. he should sign hatem ben arfa instead, when he was looking at the both of them.. {Ed022's Note - Because Ben Arfa has set the World alight...}

Agree0 Disagree0

We must try and keep Nasri, Ramsey might be as good as Nasri in a couple of years, but unfortunately this has been the thinking for a few years now.We have hardly anybody now in the team who has experience of winning anything(let alone with Arsenal).Let Fabregas go, he doesn't want to be there, and buy in a couple of experienced players who know how to hold onto a lead in the last 15 mins.Hopefully the board will give AW the finance to do some rebuilding.

Will people end talk of Kaka, Ribery etc. It won't happen. Wenger will promote from within and add a few up and coming stars from abroad.

Believable16 Unbelievable3

How do you build a team around a goalie you dope

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 17:40:07
Alou Diarra has been sold. Wenger is missing out on players who are really good and clearly were available for transfer. Young, Jones, Toulalon...all players we could have bought that are good.

If Fabregas leaves buy a CDM and let Wilshere replace him. Mascherano who has PL experience is s great option for part of cesc deal as he rarely plays for Barca. Cahill looks to be slipping away from us. Samba won't leave either so AW needs do seal the deal on Vertoghen, Howedes or Delphierre. Vertonghen would play LB with Kos and TV playing CB. Howedes play with TV and Delphierre backup for Kos and TV.

We don't need another striker. Walcott fits the mold as a striker but we need Benzema as a big name player to persuade Nasri to stay (he doesn't really want to leave). Ribery is overated and would cost £25m with £100,000 wages. Same with Kaka. Mata is 1/10 and Hazard 1/15 so both very unlikely.

Almunia, Bendtner and Denilson will go. Squillaci, Rosicky and Vela might. Eboue, Diaby and Arshavin won't go anywhere. We will get £20m - £30m from the s**ttos. Plus £30m from Cesc and £30m the board gave us.

Szezsency.
Sagna. Vermaelen. Koscielny. Vertonghen.
Maschrano.
Walcott. Wilshere. Nasri.
Benzema. V.Persie

Paddy

Believable8 Unbelievable13

First you siad we don't need another striker then you suggest we buy Benzema
I agree with your post though, I just can't see Mascherano swapping Barca for us. I think Cesc will go for about 38m and Nasri will sign a new contract. I suggest we buy Moussa Sissoko (Toulouse), Yousuf Mulumbu (WBA) or Blaise Matuidi (St Etienne) as cover for Song- all three would cost about 10m each.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol crewe that pathetic

Agree0 Disagree0

Verthongen is a centerback, not a leftback. Used by belgium on leftback position against Turkey last month, he was killed by Turan, so please no

Agree0 Disagree0

You seem to have forgotten Alex Song, who may just be the best DM in the Prem (when he doesn't fancy himself Maradona).
At the same time, Wilshire is more in the mold of a Viera (DM with some offfensive skill, rather than a Fabregas).
Also, the idea of a 4-3-3 is that AW wants to use 2 DMs (Song and Wilshire) and 4 attacking players (Fab, Nasri, Walcott, & RVP). If he wanted to play one DM he would play a 4-4-2 and turn Nasri and Walcott into more traditional wingers.

A little insight to Clichy and Nasri, a member of my family works direct with the players at AFC and when we meet up i always ask whats going on at Arsenal etc and i have been given the same response for the past eight or nine months and that is Clichy is like a Union Rep always mouthing off and winding people up, Cesc is not interested any more and has been the worst captain since my family member has worked at arsenal (20 yrs) and Nasri walks around like a movie star. Make of this what you want but maybe the club is better of without all three.

Believable17 Unbelievable14

Nasri movie star bit I'll buy but the rest seems a bit far fetched

I would rather have players who want to actually play for this club like young Frimpong in the team who will go out every game and give their all and are proud to wear the famous shirt rather than foreigners like Nasri and Clichy who do not understand the importance for us Arsenal fans. In my opinion this is why Jack Wilshere is loved so much because he understands what it means to us fans and he as a fan lets out his emotions on the pitch.
Hopefully Gervinho who says he wants to win with Arsenal and has a reputation for being a work-aholic will be a big hit and will give his all for this club.

Thanks

As a Liverpool fan, i just want to get your views on something.Arsenal style of play has come into question alot lately, do ye think the sale of flair players such as Fabregas and Nasri could be of benefit and maybe pursue more steely, grafter players. If I were an Arsenal fan id be fair frustrated, teams know how to get at Arsenal, get in their faces and Arsenal don't like it, do ye think you should a couple of hardmen so they don't get over run and out fought in matches.
When I watch Arsenal and they concede a goal, you get the feeling they will crumble, when you watch the older teams, even The Invincibles, they had players of strong character.
Which I think the current team doesnt.

If Arsenal poster/Eds could sign a couple of hard men who would they be, offering some balance to the squad?

Rebel_Red

Believable15 Unbelievable0

As a metaphor a see the current team as a brick wall without any cement, if you push it, it tumbles
I dont think we need a load of hard nuts running around kicking people, we just need leaders and players that will unite the squad and die for each other. ATM seriously lacking
Fab a great player but not a captain
Nasri a great player but has an ego the size of Man Citys bank balance
We need seniors to find a voice and lead on the pitch (RVP, TV5, Song, Sagna and of course now Walcott and the boy genius Wilshere.
In terms of players in; I expect AW to make the usual signings; young, not done it on the big stage, alot of technical ability and bags of energy. But on top of this I think we need experience, players who know how to win and have won major trophys. Del Piero, Raul, Drogba, Seedorf, Mascherano just a few who spring to mind maybe one or two like this.
Would love to see a marque signing but I really cant see Wenger signing a Ribery, Sneijder, or Kaka sort of player.

Clichy set to sign for Man City, What do you think the chances of us signing Baines are ed? He's be an ideal replacement although Everton would ask for about £15-20 million which might put Wenger off. {Ed022's Note - Clichy has officially signed for Man City. Baines is better defensively IMO than Clichy. He's handy at set pieces and is a decent crosser of the ball. Im a fan of his. Will we get him? If the price is right.}

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Wenger will not buy a left back. He will promote from within. Gibbs will get his chance, like it or not {Ed022's Note - Not.}

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO Baines is in the top 3 LB's in the PL and would be a great signing, trouble is Everton play hard ball when it comes to buying thier players, They got over 20 million for lescott, wanted 15 plus for jagielka, until Gibbs is ready he would be the best possible signing for LB, and when if Gibbs does eventually step up in 1-2 years , 1 of them can play as a left sided winger with less defensive responsability

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is not good enough for 1st team yet.

Arsenal fans unlike myself are just looking at other clubs and how they operate and forget how arsenal operate. Look at Man United they spent big in the past Veron was 30 Million and what did he achieve? Compare that to Henry 11 Million. Henry in his prime was better than Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy the lot of them but he wasn't even known until he came to arsenal that the same for every arsenal player. Before RVP played for arsenal I had never even heard of him and look what he is achieving. So please stop saying Arsene needs to spend big I would rather have 3 players at 10 mill each who which one of them could be like Henry or Fabregas than a 30 Million pound flop like Veron.

Believable14 Unbelievable7

We can only judge Arsenal's transfer dealings by their pre season games (to a degree) and the start of the season. Fans just want to look to next season with some optimism and excitement, and the quickest way (although it may not be the best) is to buy big players for money and fast. If Man Utd didn't get their players so quickly or liverpool didn't do what they have done so far, us gooners would be feeling better because when Wenger says everyone is standing still, we can believe him.

I hope Wenger can buy that quality player with value for money that will improve us, but in this day and age, no one is really under the radar anymore, all the big clubs are aware of the same players and if they weren't, its in a selling clubs best interest to make them aware so that they can get the best possible price for em to help run their club (if they want to even sell in the first place that is.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

By spending big most of us mean we need multiple players around the £10 - £15 million mark, not one who costs £40 million. But we need solid experienced professionals NOT kids with "potential"

Agree0 Disagree0

But we have missed out on players because wenger would not spend ronaldo bale drogba 3 perfect examples. 10 yrs ago when we were buying henry and man utd were buying veron 10-15mil was alot of money but in todays market average mid table teams are able to spend that much.

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont care how much they cost he could've spent 30m on 6 players by now and we would have a strong squad i am sick of these 2m french kids who aint gonna cut it. As a stoopid fan my 18 months would've evolved this way:-

Viera from Juve - Free

Schwartzer from Fulham - £2m

Taylor from Newc - £5

Wright-Phillips from MCFC - £5-8m

they sound silly but we needed a keeper and some defensive cover. a boss to help wiltshire and bring some grit in the dressing room and training ground and someone to fill walcotts pos so he can move forward with rvp. btw i know it aint 6 players but that refers to this pre season. we would've not needed to spend so big if we would've created these utility signings last season as players would be happy and players would also be falling over themselves to join us because would've won the league cup , probabily got to the fa cup final and might've been up there with chelsea and manu battling till the last game it was ours to lose ffs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes fergie bought veron who didnt work out but got £22mill back for him when sold.
but also bought rooney, ferdinand, berbatov all at £25mill plus and have won trophy after trophy
why doesnt wenger realise if pays big money for young internationals they can always be sold at a later date for lots of money if dont work out

Agree0 Disagree0

What they achieve in the transfer market needs to be turned around on the pitch, with all due respect to Arsene Wneger he stopped winning in 05, around the same time his inherited squad dispersed... Fair enough Man United have made mistakes in the market but have maintained their winning ability whilst doing this We simply have not.. I am an Arsenal fan and completly disagree to how the club is run, the board dont care for the fans, thats clear but in this day and age of football we need to spend to keep up with your Chelsea, Man Uniteds and Liverpools and of course Citehs... If we dont its simple, we are going to be a mid table team, Wengers youngsters were always complimented by an experienced individual, but now thats not the case, he is signing back up for youngsters, so the youngsters development will not be delayed, ic am sorry but this is not the way to run things, it worked in the past with the inherited squad to compliment it, but now theres far more money and challengers

Agree0 Disagree0

His inherited squad dispersed long before 05, Seaman left in 03. dixon and adams 0, keown left in 04 but he only played a bit part in the untouchables season, all the others had long gone

Agree0 Disagree0

Here don't guve out about united signings as you can't even win a crappy carling cup final.
Just look who united have signed in past -
Ronaldo (17million) helped us win 3 PL titles, 1fa cups, 2carling cups and a champions league. Not to mention sold him for 80 million and made a 63million pound profit aswell

- we bought Chicharito for 6 million and he has scored 20 goals in his debut season and is valued at 27 million.

- now look at arsenal signings
-----wait no one has costed over 15 million in history.
Grow up you supporters of a complete fail of a team that is in decline. They already were a big failure so god knows what will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well to sum up ARC won the FA cup in 05 and that was on pens so lets not kid ourselves that we have achieved anything since the invincibles season WE AINT the united fan is a tool but his club have run there club logically, rio (injury prone) signs jones; scholes (retired) signs young; van der sar (retired) signs de gea. need i say more they add to there squad then act fast to replace players as SAF picks his target and utd buy him simple. AFC are not doing these basic things the above posts are all correct. AW should have 4 targets and the club should persue them if they all fail he should have 4 backups. he is being paid a fortune to run our club EARN YOUR MONEY. if fabs and nasri want to go sell em AW should have 2 replacements in line to come in or promotion from ranks. SAF is honest when he says i want someone and he moves for em there arent rumours about 20 different players because they work on 1 player at a time and then move on. I hate united with every bone in my body but they are so efficient. JUST LIKE GRAHAM WAS PLEEEEEESE COME BACK

The reason Arsenal fans are not confident of Gibbs being promoted to LB is because he's kinda injury prone and suffers with little niggles.

Believable17 Unbelievable2

I personally don't think he's good enough at all. I never saw much of traore but i was more impressed with him than gibbs when he was here. Truth be told, i feel that if gibbs wasn't english he would have been moved on, but since he's there he really needs to step next season, because i don't believe wenger will replace clichy with an established name. he would like a player like baines or what not, but i don't believe he'll pay what a very reluctant to sell everton would want for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes rubbish, i carnt believe he has played for England.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think some of the critism i've read regarding Gibbs has been harsh. I agree about the injury concerns but i think he is a strong LB for the future - Defensively v strong and he certainly buts a better final ball in than Clichy - but realistically i dont think he is ready to be first choice yet - Perhaps next season - IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2011 12:26:36
Ah so Clichy is definately going, good news or bad news?
I like the way he has handled the situation, hes been very respectful to the club and kept his head down. City have a very good defence and defensive midfielders, Clichy will look a far better defender in that team. He's not improving at Arsenal so i'm not opposed to him leaving but Mancini could probably get the best out of him. Either way he needs a change.

We might be sending out the wrong signals selling to a rival team though, but either way I remember last season people begging and praying for Clichy to go. So I guess its a result for everyone.

dont worry you guys, Fabregas isnt leaving as barcelona cant cough up the cash, Clichy will be given a new contract and i honestly dont see nazri going to another premier league team.

And even if nasri goes there are many other replacements out there, most of which are IMO better than nasri. hes just using the situation to force more money out of the owners. the problem will be if wenger buys some young french winger to replace him who will play good for 7 games then will be benched for the rest of the season

And plus you lot are getting cahill and gervinho, which are 2 very good players

It's funny how over all of these years, a lot of Arsenal fans and players don't truly understand how Arsene Wenger works. To him, it's not about what superstar we'll buy, it's always been more about which young player we already have will step up and become a superstar.

We only really buy a superstar to replace one, and even then they are players who are close to being superstars. (e.g. nasri replacing hleb)

As long as Arsene Wenger is there, don't expect it to change. People are better off hoping that players like Ramsey step up and become a superstar next season instead of hoping that wenger signs a certified superstar now.

The truth of the matter is this market is not about value for money, tons of clubs have debt and on top of that they are reluctant to sell their best players anyway so that is why the prices of players are so inflated. Add to this the fact that clubs will ask for more money so that they can replace that position and buy players in other positions to improve the whole team.

E.g. Stewart Downing
True Value: 10 million
Aston Villa's Severe reluctance fee: 6million
Aston Villa's Squad Improvement fee: 5million
Inflated Value = 21 million

(P.S. I don't want downing anywhere near our club)

I think this is the minimum that Aston Villa will ask for. The reason why is simply because of politics. What situation are the club that you want to sell in and what do they want?

But I feel that Arsene Wenger's main goal is to create an environment that allows each player he has to be superstars. The reason he doesn't want to sell bendtner is because he thinks he can become a superstar, same with Denilson and the rest. But part of creating that environment is to have superstars in place. Superstars need help winning things too and it cannot be overstated how much of a lift superstars get when another superstar arrives at a club, it raises everyone's game. And I'm talking about superstar players, not superstar names

(e.g. Vermaelen = Superstar player
Ronaldinho = Superstar Name

I feel that we need to buy a few players, and if we have the money, let's spend over the odds, this kind of thing would justify the ticket price increase and fans won't be so agitated.

After the season, us gooners needed a reason to feel good and optimistic for the next season, but so far Arsenal have given us reasons to feel even more miserable and pessimistic.

Do we think we'll do it? no, not when every club will charge 21m for 10m players.

As I said before, we are better off hoping players like Ramsey, Frimpong, Sczhezny (spelling?), gibbs, koscielny, Vela, etc step up and become superstars next season (even though I believe that this is unbelievably unfair pressure on 90% of them)

What's your thoughts fans and eds?

Believable11 Unbelievable5

Vermaelen = superstar player = deluded.. this post is laden with a variety of fallacies

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of reason in this, but if fabregas or nasri go, they will have to be replaced with a superstar, or what wenger thinks is a superstar (gervinho, alvarez)
bear in mind, players from foreign leagues prices are not so inflated, which could be a reason for arsene not signing cahill

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly, well done for writing an intelligent, thoughtful post, most of the stuff on here is mindless drivel.

I agree with the principle of what you're saying but I definitely think some of our 'superstars-in-waiting' have had ample opportunities to prove themselves. Denilson, for example, has made about 100 appearances for us and has not become the player we all hoped he would. Time to move him on, Bendtner too.

I think this summer we need to sign two defenders with Premiership experience (my personal choices would be Roger Johnson and Johnny Heitinga), a winger (Gervinho) and a striker to provide cover for RVP (would love to get Daniel Sturridge).

Arsenal fans have a lot of reasons to be optimistic, we have some fantastic young players on the brink of breaking through.

Emmanuel Frimpong should be in 1st team squad this year; Kyle Ebicilio looked top class in the u17 Euros; Jack Jebb is probably the best English player in his age group; Pedro Botelho has done well in Spain and could get a chance at left back; Chuks Aneke has looked exceptional in the reserves.

There's a very bright future ahead of us. Arsenal fans need to stop being so pessimistic and, most importantly, ignore all the anti-Arsenal propaganda in the papers.

Agree0 Disagree0

For the fans sake, fabregas and nasri would have to be replaced by superstar players, but whether or not it will happen I am not sure.

In regards to the first comment, although vermaelen has only had 1 real season, most fans can agree that he's got superstar written all over him. Not enough defenders are given superstar status, when they are just as important as attacking players who score goals.

Millz

P.s. what other fallacies is there in my post? I'm more than happy to discuss

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner and denilson have had more than enough opportunities absolutely. the truth is that neither of those two are a natural fit at arsenal.

Denilson is more of an average attacking midfielder but is nowhere near as good as our best players in that position. That's why wenger probably tried to put him in the DM position. Same with Bendtner. For him to eventually shine, you're gonna have to make him your number 1 striker and start him every game for at least 12-18 months before he becomes close to the player he thinks he is. With RVP in there and our formation, we just can't do that. It's a sign of how much wenger rates him that he's prepared to play him on the wing so that he gets games. I think he should be moved on though if anyone wants to take him.

The reason why i'm not as optimistic as you is simple. The young players that you have mentioned like chuck aneke and jack jebb are the reasons why Wenger would be reluctant to sign superstars in the first place.

That's not the problem, the problem comes when these young players (especially the foreign ones) become superstars. It's ironic but when they become superstars they don't have the same faith and patience in the young players around them that arsene wenger had in that player before he became a superstar (e.g. cesc fabregas, thierry henry, patrick viera) and they want to leave and play with other superstars

Superstars want to play with superstars, it's painfully simple. Arsene Wenger's policy only works if the superstars he develops have as much faith in the other young players as he does and stays to help those players become superstars.

I think that was one of the main reasons Henry left. I don't think he thought the young players around him could become superstars soon enough to help him win the champions league before he retired.

On top of that Arsenal don't seem prepared to pay superstar wages anymore to young superstars they make, but are prepared to pay big wages for squad players.

I'd give nasri 110,000 a week and i'd give RVP the same (he would get more if he was consistently fit)

but how on earth is denilson apparantly getting 60,000 and bendtner 52,000? what's worse is that wilshere was on 50,000 before he even proved himself

If you prove yourself like wilshere has, you should be very well paid but Arsenal pay too much to players to haven't proved themselves.

Arsenal will sign Girvinho this week. and during the transfer window the will sign, cahill, benzema, chamberlaine and baines.

Eden hazard will sign a contract agreement to sign next year as he wants to stay in France for 1 more year.

Cant see Mata coming to Arsenal.

Dead line day - Arsenal will sign Defoe ( watch this space )

{Ed002's Note - There is no way at all that Eden Hazard can sign any such agreement as he is contracted to another club - Lille.}

Am I the only fan who likes the new away kit?

Am I also the only fan who seems to think we will keep Cesc and Nasri will go? I dont think Barca can find the cash for him with the others they are after Clichy is going, about time too

If we can get £20-25 million for Nasri i'd like to see Gourcuff come in, Enrique for Clichy (although I feel the prof will push Gibbs through, who will end up better than Cole IMO), I'll be happy if we get Cahill, Samba or both, not over the moon but happy.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

When answering a question , he said that you are on a transfer list if a club wants to sell you , he said no problems, maybe meaning Arsenal want me so i don't have that problem

I don't know how Barca will pay for Cesc

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post spot on, i think the away kit reminds me of better times say 94/95 era where i enjiyed going to games, we didn't win much but we always went as far as we could, good old arsenal 1-0 again. as for nasri i think you are right fabs will stay as he has to AW is too stubborn and barca know it will be £40m or nowt. Gibbs will be pushed through he isn't like gilbert or any other of our previous youngsters AW believes he is class and a run in the team would improve his sharpness no end. AW has been talking to warnock about championship talent so I would hedge a bet that AW would buy a consistant player ready to cover and have TV5 as backup if that goes tits up.

North Bank Elite

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about Fabregas, Gibbs is ready to replace Clichy, Traorre played for Juve last season (my opinion no need to spend money for LB). Yes Nasri will leave CFC, MCFC or MU. I've read that AW is looking for Doyle12m app.that is good move. Defoe might even better move but depends what system will AW play next season. i would sell Denilson and get F.Mello who is not happy at Juve.

Agree0 Disagree0

At last some intellegant discussion on here about legitate outcomes. Yes Gibbs is good enough, Traore on the otherhand wasn't great for Juve and didn't play alot and has been dreadful for us, i think AW may have had enough of him tbf. Doyle could be AW's Franny Jeffers meaning this one might work out, he is EPL experienced and can score goals at this level and international level good business i think esp for 12m at the current prices.

So ed just a quick question who will arsene replace clichy with as he is set for a medical with city? Baines? Enrique? {Ed002's Note - I think Baines is an option, but do you not see Gibbs as being up to the role? And if someone is bought in over him, then how will he feel.}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I agree with Ed, no replacement will be signed, Gibbs will fill that role

Agree0 Disagree0

No way in hell is gibbs good enough to be starting LB for arsenal this season.he is very weak positionally, probably because he isnt naturally a defendera team like arsenal need an established experienced LB.has to be baines with the kind of budget we are going to have this season

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel Gibbs is a brilliant prospect, although he does have a major injury issue. My main fear would be that Wenger does the usual and uses Gibbs in order to save the cash. I would not be happy if we entered the season with either him or Vermaelen on the left, we need a new player, i.e. Enrique, we will get him at the right price, but as we all know what is thr right price with Arsenal, even if they have the budget for him, they will always want to have the last say in the deal, in otherwards, its our way or no way, which is our Achilles heel. .

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is too injury prone and unfortunately ED we cant take into account "how he feels"

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't actually care how he would feel if somebody came in above him, he's got to learn he needs to fight for his place - to many of them have had an easy ride under Wenger. Plus Gibbs seems injury prone, and behind him we seem to have nobody.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gibbs is currently very injury prone but i would give him a chance beacuse if he got into a run of games that injury record could improve we will see

Ed, Why doesnt Wenger just come out and say whats going on. Is anybody going to sign? What is gonna happen with Nasri as its doing my head in not knowing {Ed002's Note - I suspect that Arsenal will be trying to offer up a deal to keep Nasri. But the players of most clubs are not even back until this week, and assuming it is the same at Arsenal, they will only meet face-to-face now. I expect Gervinho to sign very soon - he has certainly been in London recently.}

But thats the thing. We are not seen as threatining anymore. We are only the nearly team. Other clubs are wathcing us slip down. And if AW doesnt do something, were gonna end up again at 4 maybe 5th place.

Looks like the only players we are signing are unheard of. Maybe Grervinho will come and some other unknown cheap talent from Europe. (Sigh) I'm afraid I see another trophyless season and AW saying Im happy with the result. Solution = Give someon else a chance. I honestly think AW's days are over.

all we need to do is buy players in place of nasri fabs, and clichy simple
nasri/hazard
fabs/alvarez
clichy/baines done and we still have money left over

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Hazard as a replacement for Nasri? Hazard has good potential but is far from the finished article, plus he plays in the french league and wouldnt be used to the prem, he'd find it hard i think.

Alvarez for Cesc....get a life, its iniesta or Xavi...there the only 2 who could possibly replace him, and thats not gonna happen, myself i'd go for Yohann Gourcuff.

Baines for Clichy.....defo.

Agree0 Disagree0

I 100% agree. Get rid of players if they don't want to stay

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't replace a player like cesc with punt on alveraz hoping that he's gonna all of a sudden gonna turn into the new kaka soon as he signs He looks like he's got potentiol but he is not the answer

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree, we need to keep Nasri, he is a world class player. better than Hazard. Alvaraz is unproven and is only a potentially good player. We'd be better offf signing Kaka now that someone who could potentially kaka
