The thing is though, Wenger could conceivably lose Clichy, Cesc and possibly Bendtner this summer, all against his will. And that's without starting on players it seems he's had enough of, like Denilson and Arshavin, both of whom have been unceremoniously hauled off early in recent weeks.

My point is that if there are a couple of players the manager wants to let go, plus two or three more who he'd prefer to keep but the players want to leave, well then that's potentially five exits or more from the current squad. And he'd have to replace them somehow, whether it's youth promotions or new signings.
