not sure if a rumour a 100% sighting that might mean something. Andrey Arshavin at a London Theatre Sat 4th August 10.30pm with his heavily pregnant wife. When are arsenal going to training camp in Germany? Would he want to stay in London for birth, perhaps with another club?

Talks due to re-open with Real Madrid for the signature of young Sahin tomorrow, this comes after they were stalled by future fee and wage demands over a week ago. Looks like I am going to be proven wrong and we might just get Sahin over M'Vila.

Yes, Yes like everyone else am massively impressed by the signings of Cazorla and hopefully Sahin on loan.
What troubles me more is the lack of defensive recruitment going on, plus if were losing Song aswell i am very worried. Diaby wont last a full season and isnt a DM anyhow, Jack wont be fit till at least new year at best. This leaves us with Arteta pure quality and our top performer last season in midfield. But doesnt take games by the scruff and dictate oppostion. Coq and Frim, Both great potential i just feel we need a player to guide them so hope De Jong rumour comes about.
Defensively its a bag of unknown will TV5 stay fit, Can Per really handle the pace of the prem, the youngsters Bartley and Jenkinson can they push for places and be relied upon, is Sagna going to be fit. Who is our Left back?

Lots of questions i feel, having said that i am really looking forward to this season and hopefully having a great year.

Holmesy

P.S. RVP can leave for me.

Believable23 Unbelievable19

We're are defo looking at a Dm

Agree0 Disagree1

Kilmarnock to get two or three youngsters on loan hope so

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as there are positive signs right now we still haven't sorted out the goal keeping situation, only almunia resolved itself as his contract finally ran out and we are left with the woeful mannone/fabianski options as back up.
song is a massive problem area too, coq is decent but isn't any competition to song and frimpong has a massively awful lot to learn in life once he gets fit again.
ideally centre backs and full backs when all fit should be more than enough to cope

Agree0 Disagree0

We have made a 5£mill offer for wanyama, it was rejected and arsenal is ready to bid 7£mill.

we are looking for a fullback, milo(lb) and simpson(rb) is two candidates. if we sign milo, gibbs will be first choice and santos will be used higher up the field.

if we sign simpson, jenkinson will be loaned out in january.

there are verysmall chances for a new cb, as djourou is set tostay. also wenger is happy with that part of our team(thats why bartley was promoted to first team).

the rvp situation will decide chamakhs future, if rvp stays chamakh will go, either on loan or permanent. and if rvp leaves, wenger is ready to give him another chance.

on cazorla: he will be announced at an 'appropriate' occasion.

very reliable source.

Songs said hes staying at arsenal and wilshere should be bk october not in the new year?

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger wouldn't sell Song even for 30m . He actually wouldn't sell anyone (the good ones) if he had a choice and with Song he certainly has one.

SlovenianGooner

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't worry too much about the defense this year. We have good depth in the squad should injuries occur, Bartley and Miquel are both great prospects of the future, and all of our defensive players should be a lot more solid at the back with Steve Bould coaching them, the Arsenal Back Five way!

Though we could use the signing of a back up RB, we are definitely in the market for a DM. M'Vila deal may be dead but we've got good standings to sign either Capoue of Wanyama.

Arshavin is off to Fulham - season long loan with option to buy.

Muncher the Gooner

Believable15 Unbelievable35

He's only got a year on his contract.

Clg

Agree0 Disagree0

Not saying this is not true but has he not just got a year left on his contract? so no need for option to buy as he would be free at the end of the loan

Agree1 Disagree0

Arshavin's contract runs out next summer, why would they need an option to buy? I think he'll leave on a permanent deal this month.

Stezza.

Agree0 Disagree1

So in the space of 4 posts, he is signing fulham and qpr, he must be better than we thought as he can player for 2 teams at once, maybe we should offer him a new contract lol

So close to getting rid of him

"Besiktas move to take Marouane Chamakh on loan has failed despite a £6m option to purchase the player. Some website says that Arsenal have rejected the offer because the bank guarantees offered by the Turkish club are unacceptable."

Marty

Believable33 Unbelievable6

We did business with them earlier this summer (we sold them Ozyakup) and we had no problem at all with their bank guarantees and it was a transfer although the fee was pretty small: £500 000, how on earth we'd have problems with their guarantees now for a loan deal ? Don't spread bs.

According to a Russian website, QPR have approached Arsenal about a loan deal for Arshavin. Unlike Fulham, QPR r willing to pay all his wages and not partial only.

Might be true seeing Arshavin wants to stay in London.

I wonder how much exactly the fee is, ive heard 9m, 12m 16m 17m 18m 20m! hope its 9-12 =P

Agree0 Disagree0

Where did you hear those fees? I heard £16m, £17m, £20m and £16m rising to £20m .... not heard the lower ones though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems like all Arsenal fees are reported higher than they actually are. The club rarely discloses fees. It's always rumors. {Ed002's Note - The club has to provide a complete breakdown of fees to UEFA and the FA now - all costs - taxes, agent fees, admin and signing on fees.}

hi ed's.. and fellow gooner's. wondering if there is any new's on us bringing in a defensive mid? i know we have been linked with a few, m'vila, capoute, now wanyama. is the m'vila thing as dead as we are lead to believe now? realistic chances of wanyama, seeing as united would like him also? i feel with the additions to our strike force, podol, giroud up front, cazorla, maybe sahin,in the middle, also rvp maybe re-signing.. going forward we look sound. i feel an out and out truely disciplined, defnsive mid would be just what we need as would provide much needed cover for our back 4. please let me know, your opinion on who is most likely and anything else you know regarding this querey. cheers

Believable22 Unbelievable4

Arsenal should try and sign a player who ks comfortable as a CB as well as CDM, Javi Martinez is probably the best in the world in terms of versatility aswell as ability. Though his hefty price tag makes this unlikley. Im sure with Arsenals great scouting system and Wengers footballing knowledge, the Gunner will be able to find a cheaper alternative.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nigel De Jong !!!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless song gets sold we will are unlikely to sign a holding mid, diaby is also expected to play in that role aswell as coq and frimpong when he returns, wenger has made a deal with rennes to sign mvilla and all he has to do is sign it and it will go through but he is unlikely to sign it unless song is sold, still its good to know we have a replacement if need be
Saint arsenal

Why AW dont go with m'vila..now the price was decreased..

Victor Wanayama............and he will be better than vieira MARK MY WORDS :D

Super job edds :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama could be good, and is young and cheap. The Mancs are supposedly trying to sign De Rossi, so we could move in and get De Jong on the cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanamaya may be good but he is champions league tied after playing for Celtic so I think this will put Wenger off

Agree0 Disagree1

Good point about the cup tie situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not champions league cup-tied at all. Only if he plays in group stage, then he will be.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic wont get through so not cup tied but better than song

Agree0 Disagree0

If celtic get to the group stages then he cannot play for anyone else in the competition this season

Cazorla & Niang will be arsenals final signings of the summer and will complete this week. Van Persie will stay till at least jan, but then who knows
stockton8

Believable9 Unbelievable33

Thought we'd buggered the Niang deal because we want to stagger £6m into smaller payments instead of paying the lot up front?

Agree0 Disagree0

He is still very young and any other deals on the table are with similar terms so the deal is back on. I think it will be a while before we see a return on him.

Stronger and stronger reports are coming out of the media (Metro, Mirror etc.) saying that Robin van Persie now wants to sign a new deal at the club. Honestly, I can see it happening, but i'm not sure how well it will go down with the fans.

How does everyone think about it?

Believable31 Unbelievable19

Sign him up. has he actually come out and slagged the club off? everything we have heard, wage demands etc has all been media. ok so he has said he wants to win trophys and if he felt we couldnt offer him that then he may leave! i dont blame him, player of his quality should have a shelf full of them! if he does leave and go's abroad.. good luck to him. if he leaves but go's to another pl team.. then we should be hating him. rooney did this same thing couple years ago to get higher wages, he is still loved at united. im sure if rvp stays and bangs in goals again, this summer saga will be forgotten by xmas.

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd love it!

KAY9

Agree1 Disagree0

I have absolutely no problem with it. He's in a massively well paid industry, where to be honest it doesn't matter if he earns £80k or £300k a week, he can't spend it all so I don't think this has ever come down to greed. What you have to remember is relatively premier league players have a very short career and a very short time to amass medals which is what it should all be about. RVP has Arsenal running through his veins, but sees the clock is ticking down whilst others far less talented than him are picking up a multitude of trophies! I can understand his desire to win trophies, and know if he had the chance he would rather do that as an Arsenal player. With everything in his life settled in London if he's decided he can win trophies at Arsenal then I believe he will stay and I for one would be over the moon if this happened. I can see it happening ...................................... and I can also see Wenger being a little bit wiley and signing a Dutchman to keep him company!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he does sign at the end of the day he has only done wot the rest of us have been saying we need to go in the right direction need to show we want to win things now maybe the club have seen this and r acting on it so Robin now sees that the club is going the right and now thinks they can win trophys and wants to be part of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Metro print rubbish I remember last season they said we were getting hazard to replace Nasri.

Clg

Agree1 Disagree0

I would be very very happy, it's a win win summer - we made some big signings, got some players back from injury, sold some turd, and RVP signs, how could we complain?

Agree0 Disagree0

But other reports are saying Arsenal have accepted a bid of £20 mil from MU. To be honest its finely balanced but I am afraid its more likely he goes rather than stays...not because the player has changed his mind and now wants to stay but RvP has burnt his bridges with Wenger and the club. I suspect the club would of been more willing to listen to RvP if he kept quite as previously told to do so. What I can't get, if the rumours are true, is why MU? for me MU is a team in decline, Man City and Chelsea particularly have strengthened, and with Arsenal re-investing in some good players and can genuinely see MU not winning anything next season. The truth appears to be the lack of interest for a player with a poor injury record, a demand for more money and a club not willing to sell for less than 20 mill. We shall see!

Agree0 Disagree0

V Persie said the club needed to show ambition. I completely understand his point. They have done that now so why not sign. The fans should appreciate this as we have felt the same way for years. Please sign V Persie otherwise it really is about the money!

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean Can der Wiel-ey? Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Van** ...dammit, screwed up my banter there, 0/10 for delivery haha, sorry guys.

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe all this Rvp stuff has been a total scam first of all my reasons why first he's massive player and because everyone has been after him arsenal has got there deals done under the big teams noses and 2nd Walcott has stated he wants to stay but his contract is still not sorted out how do we know arsenal even offered Rvp a new contract at 140k all media talk I believe it was all fake cuz noone will offer r p 29 year old 190k who's had such a bad injury so there going to offer what 130-150k well what's the point when arsenal apparently offered that he will stay at arsenal

Agree0 Disagree0

Strong RUMOURS. No quotes at all from anybody. RvP's silence allows papers to just make things up to fill column inches. Noone knows for sure.

Slick Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he doesn't sign, thinks he can hold the club to ransom, get rid of. Arsenal > then any player.

Den

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's a fantastic player and we should sign him. He has lost a hell of a lot of trust with us and I think we should take the captaincy from his most certainly. But I think pride over what he said isn't a real reason to give up (possibly for free) one of the world's top strikers.

It's not like a Tevez situation. I would have never taken that arrogant feck back if I was a Man City fan.

--Ryan

Agree0 Disagree0

United have upped there bid to 20 million, that is why fergie did not travel to Norway with united for there game today. He was tying up deals for mourn and Rvp . He is defiantly going gents

Parkie

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't blame him for demanding better signings. We've all been doing that. I'd love for him to stay and win things. He'll get a statue right next to Henry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe all this was the ploy all along as when our players look available all the other big Prem clubs swoop in which gives us breathing time to get who we like and then RVP states i just wanted the club to act and was never considering leaving.

All to keep the other mugs sniffing around somoen that was NEVER available in the first place.

Well i wish it was this purpose as it would of been a great tactic.

Agree0 Disagree0

To the guy who said utd are a team in decline, haha last seasons league table suggests otherwise, they dint exactly play great and were unlucky to not to win the title, everyones been sayin for years that their in decline but they always seem to come up with the answers, i think they will win the title next year and im a gooner!

Eds I saw this on a FB page that said this was in the Mirror. However it wasn't on the site I use that usually tells me everything that's been said in any uk papers. Is there any truth in this?

Metal Goone {Ed002's Note - Van Der Wiel will almost certainly move in the summer and his preference remains Spain - although it is unlikely that something can be worked out with Valencia who were his long time preference. Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the player. Chelsea have had a long term interest but they remain more interested in Azpilicueta particularly after VDW re-asserted his preference for a move to Spain. Arsenal and Newcastle have certainly considered the player. Roma was another option for VDW but he has turned them down.}
