any reason that we weren't linked to leandro damiao over the summer? we were looking for a striker and whilst he would be expensive he wouldn't be as much as the cavani's of this world.

just read that totenham had a bid accepted on deadline day but it fell through and ronaldinho says he is going to be one of the best strikers in the world soon.

after seeing the spurs stealing our potential players recently I would love it if we signed damiao at the end of the season

Damio is a good striker but is in the stature of Giroud. He is just a better finishing more skilled striker but Arsenal need a 30 goal per season striker. David Villa despite his age will undoubtedly score goals. He broke his leg and has been in fine form since, he is not injury prone as no one screamed that prior to this injury. He is world class world cup winner, european cup winner. Henry had an hour and a half chat with Walcott about settling as a CF and his movement and it's proven to pay off now imagine David Villa, a player with more sporting accolades to spend time with Gervinho on his movement, Walcott and Giroud plus the many youth trying to break into the first team. He brings experience and class and his signing will attract the likes of Arda Turan, Ben Arfa to sign for us

Agree2 Disagree0

If I remember right, Internacional and Spurs have a agreement that Spurs have first refusal on Damia, should inter wish to sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spurs have been linked with Damiao over many transfer windows now. It would seem unlikely that he would decide to come to us in those circumstances. Many a time in the past have we seen players go to teams who have shown a long term interest in the player. I see this being the case with Damiao.

Why is Ronny saying he will be one of the best strikers in the world soon? He's past it.

SD

Agree0 Disagree0

Simple, he's similar to Giroud, why have 2 similar strikers. we have pace in Walcott, Giroud is the power, finesse? David Villa maybe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Damiao is very average. this brazil generation is over hyped and over priced

Funny how we used to get so much stick off the media (ya I know hard to imagine) that arsenal never fielded a Englishman. How things have changed. Arsenal make up the core of the national team Gibbs, jenkinson, (ramsey) Wiltshire, the Ox, theo. great British core who will be around for years. What other clubs can boast a English young core like that (minus Ramsey)

What Arsenal fan could disagree?

We have a great British core and they will make up a key core in English team

'Wiltshere'

Agree0 Disagree0

What's the point of constantly having a go at Ramsey. i'm sure he is a lot better at his job than the vast majority of people who knock him after every game. I for one am pleased he plays for arsenal and hope he stays for many years

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to say I loved the way people were referring to Newcastle as Newchateaux after the transfer window!

Metal Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

No one here is having a go at Ramsey. He isn't part of the English core because he's Welsh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shame only two of those came through our academy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Be there for years? you mad? lol, they're going in the near future unless wenger convinces them to stay.

jabz

Agree0 Disagree0

There all going in the near future? They have all just signed new long term deals in the last 2 months!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't actually digin Ramsey out I actual think he has done well when he plays deeper. I was actually pointing out he wasn't English that was all.

Bergkamp wonderland

Agree0 Disagree0

So, doesn't mean they are staying. walcott signed for the 6mil he got. Why would you wait untill a player is out of contract to let them go, you wouldn't get any money?

jabz

Jones, Smalling, Welbeck, Cleverley, Zaha

Not going to argue with Walcott. Or Wilshere because he is a great player and Gibbs is decent but best English youth core?

Jenkinson is shocking, Ox is hit and miss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man utd has always had good English players in the team. Scholes Ferdinand carrick Neville etc stayed at club for basically entire career.
Arsenal haven't had a British contingent since what 2002 so that's why we are happy to see it now. To say jenkinson is shocking is unfair - when arsenal drew with city at the etihad this season, Carl was our best player. He was wrongly dropped and should be reinstated asap.

You've got to laugh at the united fans. Completely blind to the fact Jones, Cleverly and Welbeck will never fill the boots of their English predecessors. They're not kids any more, and just haven't progressed.

Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones, Smalling and Welbeck will step up but I have to admit I have my doubts about Cleverley. Powell will be some player I would back him over Cleverley. Tunnicliffe in our reserves will be a great holding player as well. Lingard and Cole in the reserves have a chance as does the Keane brothers who have been playing at U21 level since they were 19. Scholes loves Larnell Cole thinks he will defo make it. Ben Pearson is rated very highly in the youth team at 18 and the most exciting prospect of all (James Wilson - 17) is very very highly rated, Barca and AC have been tracking him for years. I think our English core is doing fine mate. The only thing I would say is that Wilshere is probably the best English prospect out of the lot with maybe James Wilson being up there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul, Jones and Smalling will make it. Unlike Arsenal we have a very deep squad and can't give youngsters as much game time. Chamberlain has regressed this season now you have added more players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand how jenkinson still gets crticism he's been one of the best rb in the league when he's played this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Jenkinson is by far better than Sagna and I don't blame him for getting sent off, least he tried and kept trying. Fair enough he shouldn't of dived in but he by far the best RB in our club. I rate him highly, but for england it's Johnson at RB. Jones is washed but Smalling is a good defender and Welbeck puts the works in. Cleverley in no doubt a lethal midfielder with JW10. madness if you say there aren't good players.

Just voted Gibbs' goal as the Jan goal of the month. unbelievable tekkers!

Podolski is winning for his goal against West Ham but for me it has to be Gibbo's goal, it was just insane!

Yep Gibb's goal was awesome, got my vote, I remember a certain RVP doing exactly the same and people saying no one else could do that. Stupidly hard to control that.

was also impressed by Giroud's control from a similar pass from Diaby
