If any any of the lovely eds can help me out here. Giullum Balague say that AM don't know anything about AFC meeting the release clause for Partey, but AFC don't need to tell them but tlk to la liga instead. I didn't get it.

Aslong as we meet the release clause we can talk to him and go through la liga that’s what he said.

This is all new to me but I'd have thought someone somewhere would have to inform Athletico or do they just have to put 2 and 2 together when they receive a mystery 45 million out of the blue at the exact same time one of their best players just disappears without explanation ;-) .
I don't understand how release clauses work but surely there is some kind of organised structure to the whole thing.

Looks like you're right that it isn't the way to do business - Atletico have been quoted as saying their relationship with Arsenal is now "irreparable"

That’s how they do it in Spain for the buy out clause it’s on Madrid’s official twitter page I didn’t even know any thing about it and how it worked over there it’s nuts.

I know I was personally embarrassed by arsenal. The first player we was linked with, we end up buying in the last hour for the exact price Athletico gave us at the start of the window through La Liga and not them. As soon as we knew The Lyon star was out of financial reach which let’s face it we knew like a week ago, we should have respected Athletico’s position and done it properly.

Coldicebg we did, it may have been late but that’s just us but we did it all correct, I don’t see the problem, rules are we have to tell la liga we are activating the clause and we did.

Arsenal make late move to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid. Contacted 27yo camp expressing intention to pay clause. #AFC making all necessary arrangements (medical in Spain etc) + optimistic

Is there any truth in Porto moving for Atletico's Herrera once they have sold Telles to utd? Paving the way for Atletico to confirm Torreira on loan? And as well, any truth in Guendouzi to Hertha Berlin on loan? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - (a) Herrera's agent says there has been interest but for now he "remains an Atletico player" - but he is a player they want moved on and I expect him to leave. (b) Atletico need space in the squad and hope to move players on today - including Lemar. So even if Herrera stays there may be space if others leave - Partey or Llorente for example. I would expect something will be done with Torreira. (c) My understanding is that the loan for Guendouzi is agreed save for the paperwork.}

I'm still clinging onto hope of signing Aouar. I know Aluas already came out and said he won't be sold, but he also said that about Depay (who is apparently very likely to join Barcelona today) and they already signed a like-for-like replacement in Paqueta. I think it is just a matter of us having to ship off some non-homegrown players to make space in our squad, and also get some players off the wage bill (via loaning them out) .

Disappointing, but not at all surprising, that Guendouzi could not be sold and be done with him while his stock is where it’s at right now because I believe he will only continue to be exposed as average the more time goes by and I think we could be lucky to get 4 or 5M next year.

I'm happy with what we done so far but feel if we don't get a midfielder in we are going to be very very short would of loved partey or aouar but it's looking unlikely see what happens coyg.
