Anyone know why Eisfeld isn't eligible for the champs league?

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Eisfeld is under 21 so is not obligated to be registered in order to play in the tournament.

Agree1 Disagree0

Because we didnt put him in our champs league squad. They don't have to be registered if they've been at arsenal for 3 years or more and are under 21. But he only joined last January.

Agree0 Disagree1

Isn't eisfeld 23? More importantly y is chamakh in it!

Er- original poster here. I guess the answer was 'no' then because this was taken from the squad page:

"Due to the competitions' different regulations, a number of players eligible to play in the Premier League will not qualify for involvement in Europe."

Esifeld has one by his name.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eisfield is 19/20yo i believe^

Agree0 Disagree0

His D.O.B. 18/01/1993, making him 19

Agree0 Disagree0

Eisfeld is 19 years old, not 23.
Steady gunner

Agree0 Disagree0

It is because in the champions league the regulations are you have to be 20 or under from the start of this calendar year and also been training with arsenal for the past 3 years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but Serge Gnabry is in the squad?

Might not mean anything to anybody but Arshavin and Cham are in the prem squads for this year, personally still think we are missing a massive trick with arshavin he creates and scores goals if walcott is being given a chance as striker give arshavin a chance in his position.

you tell me anybody that wouldnt want the little spaniard magician and the russian mystro battling it out for the same spot in the squad.

Believable25 Unbelievable8

They are included because until they leave they are our players. To exclude them will be crazy.
Arshavin's problem is he does not apply himself in matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin has lost his legs hes not any good anymore hes workrate it poor if he was anygood he would of found a club by now

Agree1 Disagree0

Interesting post. been thinking about arshavin for long long time.
you might be right in saying he needs to change positions. I think premiership defenders "figured out" arsha and his movements when he play as a winger. I wonder whether he would be able to create a little bit more from the middle in sort of Berkamp (or cazorla) posiiton

Agree1 Disagree0

Arshavin definitely still a good player as he showed at the euros just maybe needs to get his appetite back, expect too see him in league cup and maybe force way back into squad

Agree1 Disagree0

Wenger dropped the ball with arshavin. Arshavin is and has always been best playing off of the striker, he's never been quick enough or strong enough for the wing. If wenger had played him through the middle from the beginning then we wouldn't even need cazorla. Wenger is a genius, but his habit of playing players out of position is very confusing. Walcott, nasri, arshavin, Henry in the early days, and even fabregas. If you want a winger, buy a winger!

Have just been reading that Cesc is not happy with the way things are going at Barca. Apparently he is blaming his own form but his form is suffering from not playing regularly in the same position.

I really thought that Cesc would be different to some of the other players which have left us for 'greener pastures' due to his age and reasons for leaving. It just proves that we really do get the best out of all our players.

The list is growing longer of players which have left to better themselves and regreted it. People will come back and claim that players have won things elsewhere, but most of the time they have joined teams who were pretty much nailed on to win something with or without them and they have only played a bit part.

Call me old fashioned but I would rather be part of a team trying it's hardest and being there or there abouts than sitting on the bench watching my team mates win me a medal.

I think we should bring back king Henry in a coaching role soon and also put him in charge of talking to players who think the grass is greener on the other side, surely they would listen to him?

Anyway rant over.

Well he started the season last year brilliantly...and hes not playing soo bad that he sucks, its just not his usual standard.

But they wont sell him, hes a barca boy. They will play him more and more and let him get his mojo back.

Pique had a spell like that last year, the media love to sell a player as soon as theres a spark.

Cesc and messi are still quite compatible, and considering Xavi is 32, the idea of cesc was to replace Xavi.

His time will come. As they say form is temporary class is permanent.

Dont buy the cesc to arsenal or anyone else, B.S

The midfield is where barca win their games, and right now having iniesta, xavi, cesc, song, busquets and thiago gives them that ammo against madrid and alonso, khedira, modric, essien, ozil, kaka.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest, hes fighting against the best players in the world, in busquets, xavi, iniesta, now song aswell.

I would love him back, and if he doesn't have a good season this year you never know :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to clarify, firstly this should have gone in 'banter' secondly I do not want him back nor do i read in to any of the BS around. Why would we want to take a player back because they have not lived up to expectations elsewhere?

Go get Hleb and he wiill send that message loud and clear....chances are that message will be accompanied with tears of regret...and then a full out pleading/praying to Arsene to take him back...

Serves Cesc right...he quit on us, refused to go on tour, then made us accept 20m too little (which barca VP even confirmed)

Cesc, you reap what you sow...

+1 to 337 Once a defector always a defector in my book. I'm sick to death of AFC being used as a toughening up finishing school. As for King Henry imparting his wisdom to our youngsters... " Was trying to work my way to Barca for 2006 but we went and lost to them in the final and it would have been really bad PR to have joined immediately so I had a virtual 'injured' season out before doing so" might be the tone of his address. The model was successfully copied by Nasri.

Well said clerkenwell gooner.

Van Persie seems to be doing pretty well since he's left, unfortunately.

Agree1 Disagree0

I'm sorry cesc, but you've missed the bus.

Besides, should pep go back to barca one day, I dont want to go through summer 2011 all over again. You walked out on us when we needed you most, to go back to your first love, what's there to stop you from doing it again?
And what do you mean you'd like to come back to us once barca are done with you? Taking in a gilted lover once is stupid, doing it twice is unforgivable.

Hope you're happy now cesc.

Agree1 Disagree0

King henry is still a legend, despite the fact he, like many others, have turned his back on us before. Would you readily take back a cheating partner even if he honestly regretted? well..

I don't see him any more deserving of a statue than Wright. Unlike him, Ian never turned his back on us. Maybe thats why his statue is in a pose forever kneeling for forgiveness.

Agree0 Disagree1

Mate - nice post. I really do wish Cesc all the best as I feel he left on very good terms and not mercenary-like in respect of other well know departures!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im pretty sure theres a buy back clause i maybe wrong but wenger let him go cheap so he'd get him back cheap

Agree0 Disagree1

Ian wright went 2 west ham if u remember wrightly lol {Ed007's Note - He came up to Celtic for a few months as well.}

Agree1 Disagree0

It's a bit more than just moving for trophies and a team that's going to win things though, with Cesc. It's his boyhood club, it's his country of birth and the club's probably full of his friends. Sounds like the ideal place for him if you ask me. I don't harbour any ill will towards him for leaving us, he could have maybe gone about it in a better way.. but he's gone now, so forget about it. He's a fantastic player and there's not a chance in hell I'd say no to him coming back to us. (and no I don't believe the rumours about his return, I'm speaking theoretically, just to be clear).
