I just wondered with Malaga having huge financial troubles whether it would be worth snapping up some of there better players? If you look at who there best players are they do fit into where we need players:
Nacho Monreal - 26 - DL - Capped for Spain and a solid Left back. Transfermakt think he'd be available for c.10 million. Would act as an experienced player for Gibbs to copy. Also would add to the Spanish element in our team!
Jérémy Toulalan - 29 - DMC - 36 caps for France - Solid player who worked really well with Caz last year. Probably be more expensive c.15million.

Just two players that haven't been mentioned! Let me know what you guys think - would be two good additions, although I'd much prefer Capoue instead of Toulalan myself - Capoue's form this year is unbelievable!

Malaga are still in the champions league , so any player would be cup tied. Not sure a player would leave while they are still in it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toulalan is too old I think, the LB is worth a shot though.

I must admit I do find it strange a sporting club discusses its finances so much mid season. Especially one who's finances are in good shape. There is a period post season for financial recognition and board members to take a small piece of the spotlight. I actually would have thought it would be kept quieter as at some point sustained financial success should create on field success.

You never hear McDonalds management talking about how well there going. "Sure our foods not great quality but look at the money were dragging in"

Believable15 Unbelievable2

CS,this is the spin doctors working over time.

ivan gazidas told every 1 at the AGM it would be 2 years and we would be in a great position.

now were in the worse start in over 20 years and suddenly we have money.

i will tell you the real story,

we had £154mill in the bank dated 31st of may, this does not include this years season ticket sales or what players we sold in the summer.

EXACTLY right CS, it it totally classless to do it. It's even less classy to not prove the financial health of the business in its output. I don't see big companies in good health stripping everything back and selling off their assets, reducing productivity due to being in such good health. It's even more lacking in class to say that the fans are proud of how rich the club is when we clearly aren't and in actual fact we're so aggrieved at ticket prices and rubbish players.

I find it worrying that a world class business conducts its affairs so publicly, as though it is trying to convince us of something that is clearly not true.

Maybe because someone is asking them these questions?
Maybe because arsenal is in e middle of evaluating a number of their sponsorships(and not just the ones you know about)

haven't posted for a while. i was at the swansea game last weekend. the first ever arsenal game i attended. afterwards i heard everywhere how poor we were and how this is the worst display ever.

i didn't notice that.

i was in complete awe for the whole day. we lost the game but i didn't mind because the experience was still phenomenal. now i'm just wondering what it could have been if we performed well that day... but i don't think about it too much. if anything now i at least have to come again to see the team put in a masterclass performance.

before the game i went to highbury house and bought a shirt - number 10. i had been thinking for days which one to get, it was really really tough. in the end the choice was obvious. jack is product of the academy, future captain and simply a talisman for the club.

about saturday, i'm expecting us to bounce back. we have now a fresh team so players like caz, arteta and giroud will be on fire. podolski and walcott are out so gervinho's probably starting as well as the ox but i'd really love to see rosicky get some minutes. he's likely on the bench i think but at least he's a player who can change games. good to have one of those on the bench as we have lacked that figure.

Believable6 Unbelievable9

I am confused. I am so glad you had a great day iceman but I don't understand how you failed to see how badly we played, the lack of movement, player availability, lack of teamwork, lack of passion and spirit...but more to the point, the boos at the end of the game.

Still, glad you went and had a great sense of occasion!

Metal Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

It happens to me everytime when i go to a game, no matter if it's football, ice-hockey etc. i just get totally biased! of course i heard the booing and saw how swansea got way better chances. still after the game i told my mate we should have won. i'm not embarrassed of that. i think it's part of the supporting. your team is always the best. i can be realistic when i write here or watch the game at home.

byt the way about the booing. i understand why people do it, to send a message. however if you boo after the final whistle it's directed for the players and that i can't stand. as long as they're not visibly giving up i will cheer them. yes some of them were tired and played badly (arteta, cazorla) and some of them may not be good enough for this team (ramsey) but it's not their fault if they get picked!

iceman

Agree0 Disagree0

EXACTLY ICEMAN,

if arsenal came and offered me 50k a week to play i would jump at it.

i have never slagged of any player on here.

wenger signs the players

wenger picks the team

wenger picks the formation

wenger does it all.

i'm awake and have been for years, its time for all the RIP-VAN-WINKLES to wake up!

Ed- Arsene is looking to buy a striker and a midfielder in Jan ,do u think Belhanda is a possibility?

Thanks! {Ed002's Note - In the later half of last season Belhanda attracted confirmed interest from Malaga, Inter, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and PSG and there was unconfirmed interest from Roma. The player said he wished a move to Italy or to Germany with Bayern Munich or Dortmund or to play for PSG if Italy or Germany was not possible (it seems he was not really sure where he wants to move to). A price of 30M euros was been quoted by Montpellier. I suspect that he will be staying in the South of France until at least the summer. I will caveat this by saying that if anything changes and there is interest in January, then that interest will come from Inter Milan who have baulked at the price being asked for their first choice midfielder - Paulinho.}

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Talk in the north east is arsenal will offer Walcott to Newcastle in Jan for ba! Sticking point is Walcott wage demands as nufc can't afford them!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed any news on us siging any of the following strikers; Pato/ Jerome Boeteng/Adrian/ Llorente/ Lewandowski/ Demba Ba/Pape Cisse

And news on us signing the following attacking/midfielders players; Ben Arfa/Jesus Nevas/ Zaha/Schweinsteiger/ Fellani/Wanayama /M'Vila/Capoue

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I am assuming the search function is broken?}

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish people would stop putting players in the frame because of their star status.....square pegs in round holes.....that was Keegans problem at Newcastle....we need a poacher who is quick and has good movement.....a wide player who can cross well,go past a man as well as score goals(Lopez)....and some power and leadership in the middle....the Montpellier captain looks a tidy player.....plays in defence and central midfield.....the team lacks leadership....km

I like Willian from Shakhtar, I believe his great and will get nothing but better if he moves to a bigger club...EDs, Any info regarding Willian?

MEX GOONER! {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Manchester City, Spurs and Juventus have all shown an interest in Willian. Last January Chelsea backed off from buying the player as Shakhtar were looking for 35M euros for the player.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Shaktar are bigger than Arsenal atm.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'd be so good for us. v direct and makes things happen. imagine swapping him for someone like ramsey, we'd be far more dangerous. but for 35m it's just never going to happen IAWT

not exactly earth shattering news but Arsenal had a unofficial bid accepted for chamakh for 2 million. I have no idea about the club that made the offer, however the player and the representatives feel that the personal terms are unacceptable. Either this will drag on and complete later once the transfer window starts or just go away all together.

Lakerville. {Ed002's Note - Is this from Twitter or something? An "unofficial bid accepted"?}

Believable3 Unbelievable24

It's Norwich!

Agree0 Disagree0

Something in principle...this is what i heard. Perhaps someone with inside information can confirm or deny this?

Lakerville. {Ed002's Note - So "unofficial bid accepted in principle" now?}

Agree0 Disagree0

Its just the way i worded it...

unofficial bid = something in principle...

surely they cant make anything official as the transfer window has not even opened.

Lakerville

Agree0 Disagree0

If M.C. has a minimum of 18 months to go on his Arsenal contract, and assuming wages of £50K per week, then it might be adventageous for Arsenal to make good any shortfall in wages offered by any potential purchaser, simply to get this "striker" out the door.
Ther same principle applies to Arshavin,Squillaci,Gervinho and Santos.
All have been bad buys and are simply blocking opportunities for young players to progress. A hit of £5-6 million might be money well spent, rather than buying another dud.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont worry Lakerville - Ed002 has not got a clue what he's talking about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tis true. Was at LC today, and the rumours spreading around the players, was that Chamakh wouldn't take a wage cut.....or should i say that he was advised by his agent not too.

No club was mentioned, but it is believed to be Toulouse. From what i can gather, he is prepared to see out his well paid contract, unless he gets either a better offer or something quite similiar.

If you look at his recent half arsed performances, that should give you an indication that he's just willing to amble about and pick up his wage !!

One player who may leave in January, more likely to be loaned, is Coquelin. He feels he should be getting more starts in the first team, and is getting a bit disillusioned with his lack of chances.

I have also heard about Arshavin leaving next month. Nothing definate, but some of the lads seem to think that he has already signed a pre-contractual agreement.

Edd is there any interest in Schurrle from Bayer? {Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen were willing to sell Schurrle during the early part of the summer transfer window if (a) the price was right, (b) if the player wished to leave, and (c) if a replacement could be found. But there was nothing acceptable on the table until very late in the transfer window and for now they are keen to keep him for the season. Chelsea have had an interest in Schurrle for eighteen months and having lost Anelka, Drogba and Kalou in the past year, Torres under-performing, and with Malouda and Sturridge not certain on staying, are continiung to look to strengthen attacking options. Several offers were made and rejected in the summer and the club will likely go back with another offer in January, particularly because they are aware of growing interest from Inter Milan. However, I would doubt that the player would be allowed to leave in January so the summer seems a more likely time for a transfer to take place.}

The players arsenal will get in january

Henry on loan
New contract to Walcott ( wenger will talk about this as a new player)
Mbiwa
Wanyama
Wellington nem(loaned back until the summer)

Believable8 Unbelievable48

Playing fifa much... where did wellington nem rumour come from?

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Walcott will go to liverpool

Agree0 Disagree0

No way wanyama will leave celtic in Jan esp with them playing in the champs league. He would cost 15-20m, could Arsenal afford that? Anyways if Arsenal were to start bidding on him then Man utd and other clubs would start bidding aswell.

Thomas

Agree0 Disagree0

If celtic had been knocked out of CL and embarrassed on the way we may have had a look in with wanyama. but present circumstances say no. mbiwa is interesting especially given montpellier's CL status IAWT

Agree0 Disagree0

Clever! You know what wenger will say: "wenger will talk about this as a new signing"

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll get Henry on short-term loan and that will be it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we want wanyama he plays for a pub team. we already have enough average players.if we buy any players from that small team in glasgow then we are certainly doomed.
