Villa situation is a hard one

Arsenal want Villa/ Villa wants to move as his unhappy with his game time and think he's being pushes out

However with Barcelona's current circumstance it can't happen. Barcelona will not sell without managers blessing as it is not a player they are desperate to get rid of.

Obviously Tito in his current condition is not in a place where he can make that call. He doesn't know if he's part of his long term plans or surplus to requirements as he hasn't been at the training ground on a daily bases to make these calls

A move is likely, but not until the summer, unless a generous offer were to come in, which is unlikely.

Depends if fee can be agree and if Sunderland can find worthy replacement

Don't understand why I'm personally happy with Shez thought other position would be more important but oh well

According to sources, arsenal have agreed a £3.5mil deal for mbiwa

Believable28 Unbelievable47

He's a huge Man Utd fan - doubt it.

Agree1 Disagree1

Is he not cup-tied?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope so, this guy is the kind of player we've been crying out for.

Just because hes a man you fan doesnt mean he won't sign for us, scott brown is supposedly a rangers fan and plays for celtic!

Agree1 Disagree0

Not what I meant Rangers boy - Mbiwa gave an interview recently saying he was desperate to play for Utd. Hardly sounds like someone about to comee to Arsenal.

Agree0 Disagree1

Even ba said arsenal is his dream move and moved to chelsea.... so why not this move to arsenal possible

Agree0 Disagree0

When we bought arshavin he was cup tied. So it's not a major problem

As per Ed's having saying for some time now

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't see why we'd look to get rid of Rosicky. Yes he's a bit injury prone but that's never stopped Wenger persisting with players before.

He always seems to offer that extra something on the field that our midfield lacks. That direct approach straight through players. He's one of the hardest workers on the pitch, a great super sub to run at tired defenders with excellent close control.

Be a shame to lose him.

Hi eds,

It's that time of year again where rumours are being punted around like a football in a school playground! So I come not with the forever resounding news of players that we seemed to be constantly linked with every transfer window, but with my opinion of who we should sign to make us the team we need to be to really compete.

1. Leighton Baines. We need quality in a consistent left back that offers a little extra when you really need it. Not taking anything away from Gibbs, but he needs competition and we need someone with a bit more steel.
2. M'Villa AND Wanyama. Two quality players to sit infront of our back four when we need to see out games and come up against the stongest teams in the champions league. Not to mention two solid players to rotate.
3. Mario Goetz. This guy is the 'exceptional player' AW has been trying to sign for so long. We need someone to play with Santi and rotate with Jack to help provide more attacking options.
4. Wilfred Zaha. I am still not totally coninced of his ability to be able to cut it in the EPL straight away, but he can rotate on the wing with the ox in the future. We do not want to be left with another JW injury situation.
5. Adrian Lopez/ Cavani/ Villa/ Walcott. We need to bring that out and out goal scorer back to the emerates. Villa would be a good option in this window, but only if it's on loan. He should be tested in the EPL before we commit a lot of money to a player returning from the injury he has had, not to mention someone who is 31! Lopez is the more realistic, would prob need time to adapt though. Cavani would be special but we would need to really break the wage cap on that one! Get Walcott to sign! Stats don't lie, and he is English!

Personally I would send Ramsey and coquelin out on loan to sharpen them up mentally in both decision making and composure.

Finally, I have stuck by Wenger throughout all the abuse over the last couple of seasons, but tactically I think it's time for a change. It saddens me to say that, but I think that with the evolution of the EPL we need something to change. Some big players coming in may change his thinking but past players have said he was not much of a tactician, and it really is starting to show. Move him upstairs and bring in Pep.

Sorry for the long post guys, just clearing out some thoughts! Keep up the good work

Totally agree....think Wenger is great for what he's done for the club but a fresh start is needed, don't think moving him upstairs is the answer tho.....wouldn't mind seeing pep or moyes...there needs to be a change throughout the club from the boardroom to the backroom staff....can't see kroenke splashing the cash tho, I personally think he's waiting for usmanov to buy him out so he can make a quick buck.

Agree1 Disagree0

I also think that is exactly what Kronke is doing. However, he needs to invest into this team to maintain the clubs stature and value. If we fall any further behind untd, city and Chelsea Usminov will get a better deal than Kronke is willing to accept! I would have liked to see what would have happened if usminov took over with AW still manager! After the interview he had with CNBC, it sounded like Arsene has wanted to spend. AW would never compromise the clubs financial model to sign players, but I believe he knows the players he would bring in if the wage cap was relaxed a little. One of the reasons I would like to see him on the board.

Great post imagine a team of

Shez
Richards...Koscielny...Vermaelen...Baines
Wanyama...M'Vila
Goetze...Wilshere...Cazorla
Villa/Cavani

Yes alot of money but surely we have this money as wenger hasnt been spending much of our 'reported' budget. this team would WIN something.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think gibbs would be good on the wing baines at leftback and podolski up front, i think that would be good as podolski is a natural finisher.

Good Afternoon fellow Gooners,

I have to say im glad we were spared the blushes of being knocked out by Swansea, and all credit to them, but this is a game webshould have won.

First, what has happened to Sagna? Once Mr. Consistency, Sagna now appears to have forgotten how to play right back. He has no desire, no energy, no positioning/awareness, he cant get a cross past the first man and he was singe handedly guilty for our 2nd.

His game has been in a death spin for weeks now and I dont know whynWenger hasnt seen this and given the hungrier Jenkinson a run out.

I firmly believe it is tim eto cash in on Sagna.

Next, had we deployed a man of steel in the DM role today I belie e the first goal could have been avoided. The clumsy German has no business hanging around midway up the pitch.

7m for M'vila?! Where do we sign!?

Rosicky is clearlyno longer part of Wenger's plans, but credit to Ramsey hewasnt abysmal today. Put ina few good balls and showed some trickery.

We should not be happy with a result like this. We are the Arsenal, we win the FA cup for fun!

Sagna's being overplayed after just coming back from injury. Ramsey was useless - Rosicky is bound to run outta patience

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2013 17:32:07
Couldn't agree more....no back bone, no guts, no teeth.

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree but must add that Sagna is getting no help from his midfield players when he is on the ball. When he receives it in the middle/final third usually there are at least two options for him in midfield, however lately there is rarely no option. I love JW to bits but lately he is not offering enough options to receive the ball from his full backs and start attacks. Might need a rest and bring in rosicky.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sagna was poor, but in his defence he had no support from walcott who was more concerned with playing up front.
we could have got debuchy on cheap to challenge sanga more but newcastle sealed that now.

Agree0 Disagree0

FA FOR FUN LOL thats why we havent own a trophy for 7years because we just stopped playing for fun..... funny post, CMON ARSENE BRING SOME QUALITY IN

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair sagna was up and down that left wing witch aint easy for an hour and a half, and just coming back from injury he has been a good servant for us. and the 100k player in front of him was back to himself useless he couldn't pass the second choice right back, Walcott can't do it in the big games never has never will toothless.

get baines from everton putt gibbs on the wing and put podolski up front.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sagna is still class and has shown this at the start of his come back from injury. The only problem is that he has played far to much to soon especially over a congested christmas period. He should be rested and let Jenkinson play as he has been class for us this season. Also Ramesy might as well go out on loan that keep playing on the wing, he offers no width and comes inside and uses up space the JW and Santi are trying to operate in.

Worse thing that could happen moving Wenger upstairs.....he's took arsenal as far as he can...as for pep why would he come

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he would have a great director of football in Arsene Wegner and a board of directors who will give him time - real time - to build a team.

Makes sense for all parties.

AND Arsenal will soon have money to spend.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is my humble view that managers like Guardiola will not do well in clubs that have limited resources. Remember how Frank Ryjkard was praised to the highest heavens? What happened after leaving Barca?

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe that wenger will move up to the BOD end of this season but he will be replace with Moyes. Then next season we will sign Baines and Fellaini as well

6 million on Bendtner and 8 million on Park Chu Young
7 million for Moses in the summer. 7 million for Ba now.
How do we keep missing these cheap quality bargains?
Top 4 really will be a struggle guys.
Norfolk Gooner
P.S. Ed have Chelsea really agreed this £15 million euro for our target Isco. If that's true I'll be gutted, he is the best young player in the world bar none. Absolutely class. {Ed002's Note - Barcelona, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Spurs have shown an interest in Isco and he came close to a move to Dortmund, who may still follow up the matter. Chelsea had someone watch Isco in a recent game against Granada and again very recently. I suspect AC Milan might look to the player as well. There were rumours of interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. If they are forced to sell - and they don't want to, I would suspect Chelsea, Juventus and Real Madrid are best placed right now to push a deal through. A move in January is by no means certain as Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract. Malaga wanted 21M euros and are now negotiating an increase in his release clause to 42M euros using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree - but they do fear a move for the player this month.}

I see ED002 you have said maybe Rosicky will be leaving.... are there any reasons that stand out for this as I see, every time he plays, someone who really give opposition defences serious problems and creates space for Caz and TW etc to exploit. {Ed002's Note - His age is not on his side and there is interest in him. As I say, perhaps time has come.}

Believable12 Unbelievable5

05 Jan 2013 19:49:53
First time post so bare with me guys...

Ed has there been anything said about Jovetic....

I know he's expensive but there has been interest before?

Also i know you have said that there is interest in Villa but is there any confirmation of the reports that he is pushing the move through as i am slightly disinclined to believe that?

Scottish Gooner {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Arsenal, Roma, Napoli and Spurs did show interest in Jovetic over the past 18 months, but Manchester City, Palermo and Juventus remain interested if the price is acceptable for a transfer. At this time it seems most likely he will stay in Florence for the entire season after bids from Juventus and Manchester City were rejected during the past summer. I think it would take a very significant bid to change that in January. He was very clearly the primary target for Manchester City next summer and until recent comments from the player and his agent that he does not want to leave Italy, I could certainly see that happening. The clear alternative is Juventus who have very clear targets and a significant budget to buy a player to play off their main striker. They have identified three possible players - and Jovetic is one.}

Not sure on my feelings of today's match think mertesacker had a shocker filled my pants a few times with his bad clearances or lack of

We seem to need a coffee or 10 at halftime to wake our ideas up how is it first half we are slow second half we come out like a different team been a worrying trend recently

Michu is a player and a half does everything simple an so composed something at times we lack

Glad to still be in it but hope it highlights to wenger our desperate need for a Viera type in the middle

Not greedy but a big bully in the middle not sure who I would replace though

Theo situation is becoming a red herring. If Wenger is saying that nothing can happen until this is resolved, then by implication Theo is dictating the Arsenal transfer policy. Can anyone see SAF, Mourinho etc putting up with that?

Believable23 Unbelievable3

I agree, if he's that good a player then why doesn't he prove it!! A hatrick against a tired NUFC is not the end all and be all!

I think we look tired at the BEGINING of every game recently and that has got something to do with the training, surely? We need to get our backroom staff sorted, look at the transfers we have made recently.....Squid, Chamahck, Arshavin.....then look at how we have players that are out for SEVERAL month's with somewhat small injuries...Diaby, Rosicky, Fabianski etc If we are to compete in tis league then we have to sort that out as well as the 11 on the pitch!!

0-0 quite a cagey affair with Swansea having the slightly better of the game and chances.

Same as usual, this 4-3-3 is just not working to give us effective penatration up front and a platform from midfield. Giroud is isolated and not really in the game and what is Ramsey doing playing out wide, why Wenger?. Lots of possetion but little in the way of shots and chances.

Cazorla is quiet aswell rather he swaps position with Ramsey. Wilshire working hard but his passing has been a bit off radar.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

Ramsey out wide is a joke. don't we have other wingers on the bench? if he can't hack it in central mid maybe loan him?
Cazorla is simply tired in my opinion. he was not rotated at all and with this being his first season in the uk a dip in form was inevitable.
Why did wenger not see that? I don't know

Im starting to agree with what a previous poster had mentioned. We should be only signing have played in this league. Mertesacker was a colossus of a defender in the Bundesliga but here he might as well be 5'11".

Is Shawcross that bad of an option? He is one of the only plausible options available to us with premier league experience and plenty of years left in him. He is by no means the slickest of players but he is damn effective at what he does.

Think about it

Believable12 Unbelievable4

He just signed a 5 year deal with stoke last week.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shawcross at Arsenal, are you mad? He's a thug, give me Mertasacher any day of the week. He may not be quick but he is the best defensive organiser at the club. First goal today caused by Koschelney diving in on the half way line, which left BFG exposed for pace.
