Andrei Arshavin will reject an offer from Dinamo Moscow, he wants to stay in England, ideally in London.

Believable52 Unbelievable9

Arshavin can still do a job for us, if he got some game time through the middle he could be brilliant again. I think he used up all his chances though, being played out of position on the wing, which is a great shame, he is a gifted footballer.

Agree3 Disagree0

So he is on the payroll until January then at least. Can see QPR going for him then - they go for everyone else's rejects.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arshavin is a great player if played in the right position
Play him behind the main striker not only will he score goals but set up plenty too.

A left midfielder he is not, puts to much pressure on the lefts backs when asked to play there. FACT

Agree1 Disagree0

I think this is a bit of a myth that can never be proved wrong, because you'll never see him played in the middle to discover he's really bad there too. The reasons he looks awful when played on the left will still be true behind the striker; slow, can't beat his man, sloppy passing, bad attitude.

Remember when he played well for us for a season and a half? On the left wing. Didn't hear anyone complaining then. He had one fairly good game for Russia in the Euros, but in a game where Russia were rampant, he had one missed pass that ended up looking like a good through ball, and he was still horribly lazy. Tournament football can give you one-offs like that. In the Premiership he's shown up, its as simple as that.

Personally, I'm a bit fed up with the man. Grateful for the memories Andrie, but you're taking up valuable squad space and big wages that it looks like you're not willing to earn anymore. Ned.

Agree1 Disagree1

Disagree my friend, when he has played up front he has played well.

Do you not remember the Liverpool games where he had to play as a lone striker and did us proud.

By playing up front or given the role to go where he wants suits his game, on need for him to track back!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not lazy. Players like Berbatov, or Arshavin are easily labeled lazy becaus they move di ffrently from the walcotts. I would always prefer Arsh o(or even Berba) over a fast running sprinter who cannot cross and finish. Arshavin is still class.

Agree1 Disagree0

There's obviously at least two of you who are still big Arshavin fans, fair enough! I think you are seeing him through past glories, and not the present reality though. Not playing for Russia tonight I noticed (assuming he's not injured though), not playing for Arsenal, nobody wants him on loan (though it seems that might be his choice aswell). He's just not up to it at the top level anymore I don't think.

Seems logical he could play 'better' in a different position, but then I wonder who he'd replace? No way is he better than Cazorla. Don't rate him above Rosicky, Diaby, Ramsey (I'm a Ramsey fan. So shoot me!) who can all play that forward midfield role. I'd rather give the youth a go in the cups.

As for the point about him not being lazy, I'm not asking him to move faster, I'd like him to take responsibility for his role in the team. He makes a bad pass or dribble, then just gives up! The best you get is a belated charge back to commit a foul. His starting positions are all wrong as well. Just rate him as a selfish and lazy footballer. If he was still good enough at his game then you can work around it, but he's lost it. Also, as frustrating as Walcott can sometimes be, presently his blind pace will create more for the team that an out of form Arshavin who's lost his legs. Ned.

Just a question; does anybody expect one of the reserve players or players on loan to make the step up to the first team? I'm not able to watch a lot of youth or reserve games, but everybody on this site is extatic with the likes of Chucks, Afobe, Eisfeld, Olsson, Gnarsby, Campbell,...

Of all these players who do think will be the first to step up to the first team? Or are most of them overhyped like Nordtveidt, Botelho, Simpson, Merida, ...?

Belgian Gooner 85

PS; I value Yennaris, Miyaichy, Frimpong and Coquelin. That's why I'm asking.

Believable21 Unbelievable1

I have seen a lot of the youths and i can see Eisfeld and Gnarby making the step up. I have a feeling Afobe will be sold in the next few years and im not sure with Aneke and Olsson. It is very easy to see the players that wenger thinks can break into the first team as he is always keen to loan to other premier league clubs. Looking back at the arsenal trend players that are loaned to championship and league 1 clubs do not make the step up and are eventually sold. (lansbury, bentley, hoyte, emmanuel-thomas)

Long term memory fade here. Bentley believed he was the real deal and went for a big pay day rather than serve an appprenticeship behind DB10. AW would have liked to keep him at the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eisfeld definitely he was superb pre season, toral anyone?

Agree1 Disagree0

Yennaris, Eisfield, Toral and Miquel are the pick of the youngsters i've seen, I think all of them could go on to become first team members at the Emirates.

Agree2 Disagree0

Merida was not overhyped he just couldn't get the breakthrough he needed. When he played he was very solid , a bit like a young Arteta.

Agree1 Disagree0

In the U21 games this year Meade has been very good on the left wing.
Not saying he will be brilliant but he has been very impressive so far this season.

Ireland U21 Conor Henderson .Mr Wenger blocked his loan move so as to have him around the first team . A decent prospect that kid .

Afobe wont be sold as he is a promising striker that even barca wanted before he signed pro with us. and he has scored in his youth days and score lots of goals for englands youth team.

Agree0 Disagree1

The problem Arsenal face as do other teams is once a player hits 21 he is either a first team squad player or he is out.
You can have a max 25 over 21 year olds in your squad. Look at Arsenal's squad this season and you will see we have 23 players with the likes of Ox, Wilshere, Coquelin, Frimpong and Henderson not included.
That is why Wenger will cull quiet a few of these players.
Saying that Wenger likes Afobe and Aneke and they need to prove themselves whilst out on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Benik Afobe and Chucks Aneke are deadly in the reserve team, they work fantastically as a pair, the midfielder supplying the striker, if I remember, there goal tally was superb last season, or the one before.

Eisfeld is quality, rated higher than Gotze when they were in the BVB team, just Eisfeld got a serious injury, wenger may have "unearthed" another gem.

Jon Toral-Harper looks fantastic, as does Ryo, one plays a fantastic central midfield game, the other Is a lightning winger, and Wigan will give him a great education, especially with thier brand of attacking footy.

Gnabry, Olsson and Miquel are more know quantities due to thier prominence amongst our fanbase, all three are fantastic prospects, Miquel of course, we all know about.

But the lad who gets looked over too much for me?
Hector Bellerin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eisfield is class

Agree0 Disagree0

All of the players you mentioned have gone on to play in top leagues after leaving Arsenal, so they are not exactly failures and remember during that time Gibbs and Wilshere came through to the first team.
We have a lot of talent in the reserves and youth at the moment, probably still only expect 3-4 break through to play on a regular basis.
Gnabry, Toral and Akpom are very highly rated, along with Bellerin, Meade and Chuks. Personally I am excited about Ebecilio (strong, pacey and skilful) and Akpom and Bellerin (both attacking full backs) as they are in positions we need.
Would like to see us produce more quality centre backs in the future though..
Also, I saw Jack Jebb play and he looked promising for his age..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you. Lots of quality in the Arsenal youth ranks. Gnabry and Chuks look class and young akpom is on fire recently. Also think Kyle Ebecilio and Kristoffer Olsson have been ticking the midfielder of the young team very well in a hardworking but unflashy manner that is vital these days.

Should have ended with Kyle Ebecilio, who looks better than Olssen.

Miquel & Eisfeld

Eisfeld, Gnabry and Joel Campbell are the ones to look out for there pal.

Imo olsson looks better than ebicilio

The post didnt ask who will make it away from arsenal. It asked who do we think will break into the 1st team
