A question for ed02/01 if possible?
At what point would Winston Reid be able to talk to or agree a deal with another club? It seems he has opted to run down his contract with WH and leave in the summer for free.
What do you ed's think about him coming to Arsenal?
And btw I have followed previous comments and my search function is working :-p I just have an idea that you ed's know more than you let on sometimes.
{Ed002's Note - (a) Now if that club is outside the EPL otherwise not until the end of the season. (b) It is a possibility, someone has arrived in England this afternoon to discuss a possible replacement with West Ham. They have, I think, accepted that the situation will not be resolved with WR. (c) Thank you.}

Reid's agent may well advise him to leave in the summer when he is a free agent and could command a higher signing on fee, rather than the reported £4m transfee fee West Ham would receive in this window.
West Ham would of course prefer to cash I and use he funds to sign a replacement.

I'm not sure, I think if he really wants to join us it could happen this month, his agent must advise him that a move to one of the bigger clubs is a massive possibility now as we are desperate but may not be in the summer, plus his relationship breakdown with WH may see him stuck on the bench which will not help him at all. Plus i'm sure he will get much higher wages for the next 6 months with us.

if a club wants to sell a player now rather than lose them for free in the summer, do they have to leave or can they not accept to be sold and run down their contract in the hope they get a better deal when they are free?
{Ed002's Note - You cannot force a player to move if he doesn't want to.}
