Telegraph reporting that we've had a £30 million bid rejected by Liverpool for Suarez

Personally don't believe it for a second!

Believable25 Unbelievable34

I have a feeling this is to hurry along the deal for Higuain. So far it's looked like:

Deal agreed
Fee agreed
Higuain's camp happy.
Madrid suddenly not happy and playing hardball (I didn't think this was possible if you have agreed a fee but still. Ddin't think you could talk to the player until then but perhaps if the club allows then you can, I don't know)
So what do we do? Well first we give them the finger and say fine we'll look elsewhere, then we raise the other finger and put in a bid for one of their targets.

It's a nice move if that's what it is. Obviously bidding £5m below Suarez's fee would be rebuffed immediately by Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree0

I believe it.

Jensen Hatrick

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this is paper talk. I really don't see wenger going for Suarez.

Agree2 Disagree0

Telegraph is one of the most reliable and it sounds like arsenal to bid 30m for a player worth 40m. If we can bid 30m for suarez I don't understand why we can't cough up 25m for higuain. a person tweeted the article with the caption - how much? Maybe this was the mystery 30m bid

Agree0 Disagree0

The Telegraph story is very reliable. Arsenal bid for Suarez as an alternative to Higuain. The hold up with Higuain is nothing to do with Arsenal or Real delaying a deal and everything to do with the player. Looks like the player is not convinced about moving to the Gunners

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats why they suspended betting

Agree0 Disagree0

There just board arsenal are two smart to buy a player with a 10 match ban who can't be controlled. absolute rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

He would add some bite to our attack.

Agree1 Disagree0

Personally, I think that Arsenal are using it as an attempt to actually agree a deal for Higuain. We're not the problem, neither is Higuain. It's Perez and Madrid who seem to be messing Arsenal around, and stalling so someone potentially comes along and offers more. They wanted £25.5 million, we offered that, and all of a sudden they wanted 27. Bidding for one of their targets will hopefully speed things up. I said I didn't believe it in the sense that we genuinely have the intent of signing Suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2013 14:29:10
start believing it haha!

its been confirmed that we've bid for him, I think that Arsenal and Liverpool agreed on an amount and that Liverpool will reject it so that Madrid will step up and pay, and then Higuain's sale can be sanctioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Arsenal are reacting to Reals hard ball tactics, letting tem know we can & will target other stars if they start to play games regarding |Higuain - well done Arsenal :-)

A web site is saying we have a back up plan for mario gomez for 17 million as a plan B, as Real Madrid are messing about a bit trying to get a bidding war. but as we know arsenal they will walk before being beaten in price.

Believable3 Unbelievable27

I've really always liked Gomez. Personally, I think he's better than higuain. Really wanted Wenger to put a bid in for him when he was supposedly unhappy because of the lack of game time he was getting this season. That said, i'm pretty sure he's going to go to fiorentina. Apparently personal terms and a fee were agreed a while ago.

Agree0 Disagree2

But Gomez is a terrible, terrible player. Really hope this isn't true.

FG

Agree1 Disagree0

I completely disagree with FG.

Gomez is a terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE player.

Please god no!

Agree0 Disagree0

To label someone terrible who scores a goal every 2 games throught out his career and over 25 goals at international level is laughable!. fg is clearly a blind man if he can't see he's a world class striker

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2013 10:13:34
No better than Giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

Gomez a terrible player? are you joking? it's laughable considering we played with Bendtner for a season or 2

Agree0 Disagree0

Not many have been more prolific in their whole careers than Gomez. If you knew the old' Gomez per say who was tearing it up for Germany and Bayern before you'd retract those comments. He not only scores goals with either foot he. To compare him to Giroud is just ignorance go and watch Gomez a few seasons back he was world class.

Agree0 Disagree0

That terrible player scored more than Manducukiv in less games. Ohh what a terrible player he is indeed.

Agree0 Disagree0

He scored 80 goals in less than 100 games in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 season. Not to mention the fact he's scored 19 goals in 32 games this season and has came on as a sub in a lot of those games. as some of you have said before me, terrible player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting rumour!

I believe we are talking to Bayern, but not for Gomez, but for Gustavo. I don't know/can't remember/can't be bothered explaining why I get that feeling but yeah, that's what I think.

Also, unless we're selling Giroud I just don't understand the point in signing Gomez! He's a slight upgrade but that's about it.

Clubs will have an extra two days to complete their summer business with the window closing at 2300 BST on Monday, 2 September.

So as opposed to the 31st of August 11 pm, we will buy players on the 2nd of Sept after 11 pm.

Believable25 Unbelievable14

Why is this happening? Is this for real?

Goose

Agree0 Disagree0

Same rules every year - as 31st is a Saturday, it closes on the first working day after the 31st which is Monday 2nd Sept

SY4

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you sure about this? I thought transfers could still go through after the deadline as long as the clubs agree a fee and have it in writing (usually fax!) BUT the paperwork can be completed later.

Does that make sense?

ARE YOU READING THIS GONZALO? Lol

cammy out!

xx

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a fact-= window closing 2nd sept.

Arsenal to bid for Xabi Alonso. Fee rumoured to be £10m. Wenger prefers a quarterback style player who can play out from the back rather than a midfield enforcer. Especially as Fellaini and Bender are well over double the price.

Believable26 Unbelievable48

Fantastic player. Would love this to be true.

Agree1 Disagree1

Wenger wouldn't entertain such a fee for a 30 year-old. And the thought of another transfer negotiations with Real Madrid would not appeal.

Agree2 Disagree0

1. If he leaves Madrid he said himself he would go back to Liverpool. Maybe he likes having Tuesdays and Wednesdays off?

2. As if we'd start to negotiate with Madrid over another player while they're being such brats over Higuain

3. I'm sure he'd be interested in the 1 year contract we'd offer a man of his age

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go again. No one believes that Wenger will spend big, so invent a story that he would go for a "cheap" (£10 Mill) Alonso, who is probably fancied by Chavski? Then again he has made serial mistakes regularly.
Remember Luzhny, Stepanovs, Senderos, Cygan, Almunia and of course the latest bunch to dent his reputation:- Chamakh, Park, Santos etc. and that bloke with the deep forehead and hairband! Incredible. I think his bottle would go if he spent over £20 mill.!
Yes the window has plenty of time left, but who, deep down really expects any "Star" players to arrive? If little happens then Gazidis should be accountable some way for his statement some weeks back that we will spend BIG! If my theories come true then the fans must show their feelings. How, may need discussing some further weeks down the line!

Agree0 Disagree1

It's a possibility and he is a fabulous player but I think we need Fellaini because he offers something different than our usual type of DM he is tall, powerful and aggressive and will win us midfield battles against the likes of Yaya Toure and Ramires etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there not a possibility that RM and AW are planning a deal to appease both parties?

GH 20m
XA 10m

30m for 2 players, 10 is probably 2 or 3 mill more than XA is worth, but RM regard GH as 25m so appeases both parties?

maybe just an idea

Believable8 Unbelievable72

You've done it again Malaga, absolutely amazing!

Agree1 Disagree0

I am not sarcastically asking, I'm seriously asking. How do you come up with these?

Draw names out of a hat?
Computer simulator?
Paul the octupus' brother?
Chinese whispers?

Agree2 Disagree0

Malaga, are you frankie boyle in disguise?

Agree2 Disagree0

Not again. Give yourself a break mate and have some personal dignity.

Agree2 Disagree0

Surely the main target should be reina now Valdes is staying at barca.

Pt

Agree2 Disagree0

Malaga if you are a spurs fan making all these rumors up you do realise its back fired not one person believes you mate

Agree1 Disagree1

I just think he's high.

Agree1 Disagree0

And you tried giving me s*** for my posts haha?

ASEG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Casillas as in the Madrid keeper who helped get their old manager kicked out of the club so he could get his place back?

For your own personal dignity, at least pick a rumour that has a chance so you can claim to have got one right.

Try stating Paulinho to your own team Spuds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey Malaga, can your sources tell us if we will sign Iker before or after we sign Cristiano?

Agree0 Disagree0

Please give me some of what your smokeing malaga it sounds like some crazy stuff!

Agree0 Disagree0

Casillas has just become a father, I highly doubt he'd move mate

Heard from a decent source that suarez deal could be on. on his day he can be very very good miles better than rooney. GH would be 1st choice but suarez would run riot for us

Believable9 Unbelievable53

Juke box hero with stars in his eyes!

The guys a jerk we don't want him in our team. Wer a team of class no room for cheats!!

Agree4 Disagree0

This is absolute rubbish, the reason he is leaving Liverpool is because he doesn't want any more abuse in the premier league, so why would he just change teams? He is definitely going abroad, properly Madrid!

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2013 15:16:53
2 words champions league

Agree0 Disagree0

If GH deal goes through to us, then Suarez will move to RM

Agree1 Disagree0

He is an embarrassment, not at our great club please.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a player, fantasitc, as a person. huge douche. Would love him banging the goals in at Arsenal but I honestly can't see him staying in the EPL. He's constantly burning bridges.

Agree0 Disagree0

Are the Ed's having a laugh and only posting the absolutely ridiculous posts on the Rumours page?

Serious question.

Agree0 Disagree0

So ridiculous its confirmed by the BBC! Personally I'd take Suarez in a heartbeat, fantastic player (if only he'd learn not to bite people)

Agree0 Disagree0

Any arsenal fan would take Suarez in a heartbeat, a world class player in your team? Course you would, if it would ever become reality arsenal would need to try doubling the measly £30 million offer then negotiations may have some legs.
Liverpool don't want to sell and especially to a team who they would hope to be competing with next season for a top four spot!

Passing on some news that another club is trying to tempt Madrid into selling them Higuain. Not sure which, but Man City has been suggested. They're offering a bit more than Arsenal, and Madrid wants a bidding war.

HOWEVER it is believed that Higuain would prefer Arsenal to other suitors as he thinks he would score more and have less competition.

Believable72 Unbelievable27

Must have taken you 10 seconds to think that one up.

Agree1 Disagree0

Tv just confirmed that Higuain is not in London having a medical but things could still happen in the next few days as Arsenal are still interested :- (

Julio cesar is set to be sold on the cheap to arsenal from qpr a fee believed to be around 3. 5 to 5mill has been agreed

Believable57 Unbelievable20

If we do sign him he will be a free

Agree3 Disagree0

That comment above is true, qpr need to get him off their wage books now they're in the championship but wenger doesn't want to pay his wages and I can't blame him, the geezer is so overrated.

Agree0 Disagree3

If we pay more than 1.5m I will have lost all faith in my club

Agree0 Disagree3

07 Jul 2013 08:50:05
How can you lose faith in your club if they pay over 1.5 million for a world class keeper. He is Brazil's number 1 and better than any keeper we've got. 1. 5 would be a steal.

Remar28

Agree5 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure we will sign him for £2mil maybe £2. 5, QPR do need him off their wage bill but the will also command a fee as arsenal and Roma are both in for him. Also, they have just sold Samba for £12 mil, so cheap deals are not what they are looking for, they are more savvy than that.
Prev

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not world class. Although he has been in the past. If he is so good as you say he is then why did Inter sell him for so cheap (maybe free, I can't remember) and only QPR were interested. Now he's available for very cheap again after a good season and still he has a limited amount of offers because he isn't THAT good.

Agree0 Disagree3

Remar28 I agree he is world class. However, his club are desperate to sell him and aren't flooded with bids. We do not need to bid more than 1. 5 for him.
My point was that if we are haggling over a 2 million difference for Higuain, why throw money at QPR? It would show double standards.
Personally I would have liked us to push harder for Mignolet.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2013 11:10:10
Good goal keeper and at times can be world class, but to pay more than 3million for him, taking everything into consideration, would be too much. Dee Guns

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2013 12:13:16
I doubt we will get him free. QPR could find someone willing to pay.

i don't even know how you can suggest cesar is not world class. He is one of the best out there.

Agree2 Disagree0

I don't know how you can suggest he is currently world class (unless you have a very low ability that has to be met to be 'world class'). If he was 'one of the best out there' many more teams would be interested. Why aren't barca interested? Because he ain't that good.

He suits a team like Roma, good but not exceptional. We need to be exceptional next year to challenge for the title so I expect us to sign exceptional players (I. E Higuain, Adler etc. ).

Agree0 Disagree1

If we sign him and he becomes our no. 1 I will enjoy seeing peoples opinions change on this extremely average keeper. 3.5m is way to expensive

Agree0 Disagree2

There's a lot of people posting on here who haven't watched much football

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2013 18:32:45
@connor, remember van der saar? Juventus get rid of him & only fulham interested. need to say more?

how can brazil no. 1 gk isn't good enough nevermind for more than 1.5m?

Agree2 Disagree0

He's not even close to being in the class of VDS. I would imagine there was plenty more interest in VDS than just Fulham (although we can't be sure) as he cost 7 million.

Firstly I never said he's 'not good enough', he's just not world class. We need world class players. The fact he's Brazil's number one doesn't mean he instantly a brilliant player, look at his competition for that spot. Pretty average players.

Lastly the price should be irrelevant, if we want to win titles we need to spend (I'm not saying overpaying for a player though).

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Jul 2013 23:23:10
A deal for Higuian was agreed with Real on Thursday for £23m, it appears Real have moved the goal posts at the last minute and want another 2.5m on top. There are a number of words I could say right now, all that would turn the air blue, however in the scheme of things I don't think £2.5m should scupper the deal and after all business is business, its not like we haven't played hard ball when we needed to, not nice when the shoe is on the other foot!

I would like to think a marquee signing will be in place prior to us leaving on our far east trip next week.

Believable29 Unbelievable17

We have only played hardball when selling once, that was van persie. we sold Fab, Henry, Vieira on the cheap, huge players and Barca have said that they should have paid £60mil for Fab. not £30m
Prev,

Agree0 Disagree0

Football transfers are Hard ball which is what negotiation comes down to. Fabrigas deal was good for Arsenal at that time, of course Barcelona will preach a face saver, I bet they are not saying Cesc is worth 60m now.
