Julio Cesar set to join the north london side for an undisclosed fee

Believable81 Unbelievable36

Hope he's not a flash in the pan and I hope he's not the no1 keeper

Agree1 Disagree4

Not sure if we are going to sign him but flash in the pan? he has been a world class keeper for almost 10 years winning titles and champs leagues. he had a dip in form about 2-3 years ago but is still a great keeper and would be perfect for us as he could be first choice for the next 2 seasons until Shezza is ready

Agree6 Disagree0

He would come to be no. 2 shame as Shez showed what he can do

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is one of the best keepers in the world. He would make a great nr1

Agree0 Disagree0

He is exactly what arsenal need. An older, experienced keeper to mentor shez. It would be ridiculous to buy someone like mingolet as it would mean either he or shez would be stuck on the bench getting frustrated.

Agree1 Disagree0

Being labeled No. 2 would bring out the best in Cesar. He would raise his game no end and be No. 1 in six weeks of arriving (also would Cesar join a club to be No. 2 keeper in a world cup year)

Higuain {Ed027's Note - Not first choice

05 Jun 2013 01:07:48
Mitrovic? {Ed027's Note - Not official, we are in talks

04 Jun 2013 23:58:29
Christen Erikson {Ed027's Note - I wouldn't know, he wants to leave, Spain is his preference, that is all

04 Jun 2013 23:52:41
Aleksandar Mitrovic {Ed027's Note - Yes, we aim to strengthen our youths, as there has been so many departures

04 Jun 2013 08:13:05
Ed, when will Wellington Silva get his work permit{Ed027's Note - Not sure mate, not sure we want him to at the moment he is a right piece of work

Hi eds
How many players do you honestly see us buying? {Ed027's Note - 4 first team players, maybe 5 (not inc Sanogo

Ed, would that be these following positions and maybe players:

A Keeper (Cesar)
A Center Back (Williams)
A Holding Midfielder (Gonalons Or Wanyama)
A Striker (Jovetic)

And If 5. A CAM (Grenier)

Cheers {Ed027's Note - Maybe, Cesar is looking good, Williams is rumours but strong ones, we will sign a holding mid and those 2 are of interest, Jovetic will depend on Juve

04 Jun 2013 11:26:18
interested in Belhanda and Vydra {Ed027's Note - Very small

04 Jun 2013 11:01:09
Kos leaving to go to Bayern? {Ed027's Note - Small, Bayern would have to cough up 20-30m, Kos is happy

04 Jun 2013 09:31:54
Michu? {Ed027's Note - Paper talk

04 Jun 2013 08:54:51
Clement Grenier. {Ed029's - Lyon's Grenier is of interest to AC Milan, Arsenal, Juventus and Chelsea at the right price. The right price for Lyon is considerably higher when Chelsea and other EPL teams are interested and it will quite possibly price him out of the market. OL would like to keep him but are aware that Marseille would like to discuss the player as well. }

03 Jun 2013 15:42:59
Lamela {Ed027's Note - No chance

01 Jun 2013 11:23:09
sanchez Ed029's Note - I doubt it mate. }

01 Jun 2013 01:52:07
David Villa {Ed029's Note - This was on the Liverpool page - Arsenal are certainly interested in David Villa but I am not aware of any agreement at this time and Liverpool may well be interested in him as a replacement for someone leaving. Spurs is another possibility. Given Villa has never wanted to play outside of Spain, is 30+ and no doubt be expensive in terms of insurance and wages, I am not so sure it would be a great move by any EPL club. Both he and Sanchez will be sacrificed by Barcelona.

31 May 2013 17:04:16
cesc fabregas {Ed027's Note - I reckon he'll stay at Arsenal {Ed027's Note - Oops, I meant Barcelona

31 May 2013 13:52:07
Usmanov {Ed001's Note - Kroenke will take the money if enough is on the table, yes, I think Usmanov will push it over the line this time. }

30 May 2013 17:03:55
cesc fabregas {Ed029's Note - I am told by another Ed that he will not leave Barcelona. }

26 May 2013 07:16:35
Lewandowski. {Ed029's Note - Arsenal have not shown interest in him. }

25 May 2013 16:52:32
any interest in suarez {Ed029's Note - Certainly not from the Gunners mate. }

It's a good idea and I'm sure the ed's would appreciate this up to stop people asking them the same questions all the time making them repeat themselves.

I don't understand how you can click unbelievable when nearly everyone on this site relies on information from the ed's. It's not a matter or believe a rumour or not it should be thank you for putting all our questions on one page so we can easily view what the ed's have responded to our questions with. {Ed027's Note - Good summary there, stops people from asking the same things

About Fellaini and Rooney,

I think both players are great and would show a signal of intent from Arsenal. Buying big and taking established top players shows you're trying to improve on last season.

I however don't think these are the right players, Rooney is known to have been struggling keeping his fitness level up and had threatened to leave Man United once before, almost forcing himself out. That's something I hate, being an AFC fan.

Being Belgian (we play Serbia tonight), I think Fellaini is one of the best midfielders in the PL, I think he can play at the top level in Europe. However according to me Arsenal need an energetic defensive midfielder, (like maklel). Someone who isn't the best passer or wants to move forward, but does his job and stays just in front of the defence and breaks down attacks, tracks back and basically works his socks off. Fellaini isn't this type of player I have seen him play DM and he fails to track back all the time. Don't get me wrong just behind the striker he is one of the best of Europe, being able to control any ball with his chest and having enough calm and vision to reach a striker. At Arsenal I would like to see Cazorla keep his central role, with maybe another Winger coming in.

PS: Eds as a belgian poster is AFC linked with any of the top Belgian prospects, like Praet, Bruno, Batshuayi, Malanda or Lestienne? {Ed029's Note - No mate.}

Believable19 Unbelievable15

Fellaini has said many times before that his favoured position is DMF. He only played in an attacking role at Everton as they had no one else to use.
Rooney is an incredible talent who works exceptionally hard. He may not be an out and out striker (I would buy Benteke or Jovetic aswell) but he is extremely creative and this is what we need.
Any Arsenal fan who wouldn't want Rooney and Fellaini to join is crazy IMO as they are better than almost every player we have already.

arsenal have just triggered the clause for fellaini and this will be announced on the 2nd of july.

arsenal were using jotivitc and villa as bait for other teams to get attracted to them as he is ready for a swoop for benteke and also including park.

mignolet is on his way to arsenal by not signing a new deal he will be announced on the 15 of july.

grenier who also wanted to come arsenal will not be coming as wenger has had second thoughts on him.

wanyama a superb player but wenger is thinking of signing him next summer, same as paul pogba.

the higiuan situation is a total mess so arsenal have pulled out of the race for the Argentinian.

Wenger has been offered a new contract this is because wenger is building such a team that he is ready to stay for longer as he is seeking success.

our rb situation is also a crises but wenger is letting jenkinson step up in the bpl as its his time to shine now.

as we have let arshavin, denilson and squid leave we have 10million in our pockets this could possibly go towards rooney even as he is nit wanted by some he is a massive possibility.

Believable45 Unbelievable68

Just out of curiosity, where would Fellaini play? DM?

Ross

Agree1 Disagree0

Would be pretty disappointed if we bought Mignolet. Szczesny is better, IMO, and it's not going to work having 2 starting-level keepers. You need a no. 1.

Would be disappointed if we bought Benteke, he and Giroud are too similar.

Agree1 Disagree1

Strong post Wellingtoj. You have written that like someone who might actually know something I will be monitoring this one. But here's the thing Fellaini is a decent player but is he what we were hoping for? for me not really. Mignolet good keeper but again if the stories are to be believed and we are signing up Cesar who is going to be the number 1? Why doesn't Arsenal for once just get their finger out and say " Right these are the players we want heres the cheque book. " Instead of all this fluffing about every season and ending up with nothing again. I for one am sick of it.

Agree1 Disagree0

What a load of rubbish about Marouane Fellaini. You have read a rumour saying he can join a Champions League club for 22m which is his buy out clause. The rumour says he is fav to sign for us. This does not mean he will sign by the 2nd July. He is clear fav at 1/1 but that doesn't mean anything either. It would be a good signing however. I do look at the odds and start to believe when the odds come crashing down but all to often it is wrong to go by this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benteke is being valued at 40m but Aston Villa as they try to keep their star man. As for Higuain my sources tell lme differently that he will sign for Arsenal by the end of June. Cesar has already agreed terms with Arsenal along with Ashley Williams. Wenger is not trying to dislodge Szcehsny but give him support and an experienced role model to look up to. Plus Wenger is not willing to pay 15m for Mignolet. Wanyama is a back up in case we don't get Fellani but Fellani is our main target as a box-t0-box midfielder.

Agree2 Disagree0

Much rather spend this £22m on a striker, as that is what we need, not an inconsistent CAM/CM, a DM and an ST is what we need, I don't believe we need a new keeper, I think szcezny is good enough, just lacks confidence

Agree0 Disagree1

Ross Fellani has come out in public and said he prefers the DM role.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's poor business to state your targets out in public for others to come and steal them with higher bids and better wages. Arsenal offer a set price Man City double it, guess where the player goes. Plus if Arsenal say they want a player the price goes up as other clubs get interested and start looking at the player as well. Fellani is a class act and would be the perfect DM for us with premier league experience and he prefers the DM position as he has already come out and said in public. Someone who can win the ball back with physical presence and play it out from the back.

Agree0 Disagree0

You had me till wanyama and pogba next summer where will they bboth play plus fellaini
Gimme6

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with some of your points but I don't see Mignolet coming when he is been valued at a reported 15m. Cesar to my knowledge is in negotiations with Arsenal as for Fellani a respected newspaper ran the story first the deal could happen, bettings odds have quickly been slashed by too. We'll see.

Josh09

Agree0 Disagree0

Higuain I'm told favours Arsenal as he feels he would be the star man there and appreciated more. Italy have a lot of big name players already and Arsenal is set to be his new challenge.

JJ

Agree1 Disagree0

Fellaini is great. I hope we get him!

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal, Everton and Fellaini have all denied that this true.

Not that this means anything.

Agree0 Disagree0

In the case of Arsenal and transfers when Arsenal deny a player it is usually because they are interested in him and fear other clubs coming in to steal the deal, they only speak about targets their more certain to get. I wouldn't expect Everton to come out and say they want to sell their best players but in Fellani's case there is a clause in his contract and he is expected to leave. Just be patient MHC.

Agree0 Disagree0

He mentioned Wenger was considering Wanyama and Pogba for next season, Arsenal looked at Nasri and Ben Arfa at the same time in case one deal doesn't go through they have a second target already. It's common for for a club to identify two targets and start preliminary talks.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks. I'd honestly prefer another DM. Someone like Capoue or Alaba. Both are quicker, nimbler, stronger and cheaper (wasn't that a Daft Punk song?) Just my humblest of opinions.

Ross

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would we be looking at Pogba and Wanyama for next summer? We can't even tie deals up at the start of the current summer so I find it hard to believe we are looking a year in advance!
Wanyama rumours have been around for a long time now just as the M'villa ones were and I fully expect them to end the same way!

@ Ross

Watch Capoue in 10 matches he is and has the same build as Fellani, he isn't as good on the ball as Fellani neither and isn't neat. Fellani not being as strong as Alaba! The Bayern Munich left back, yes he was a DM before but Bayern have since signed Javi Martinez and prefer play him there, it's for a reason.

Alaba suits LB better than DM he is small and good on the ball but in the Premier League a player like Fellani would boss him around in the midfield. Fellani is more skillful, more composed, stronger, and more experienced than Alaba and Capoue. He can win the ball and take it forwards to start an attack Man United hate playing against him he always causes them problems and Chelsea.
