With Tevez and Balotelli likely leaving ManCity, that only leaves them with Aguero and Dzeko for the striking position, so I can see them buying another.

Quite worried that they might come in for VanPersie...

G95

Believable21 Unbelievable40

I think Mancini will be rethinking tevez. I suspect hazard and cavani will come in and balotelli will go the other way.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was Mancini, I'd keep Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko and get rid of Balotelli, but I think after everything that has happened this season, Tevez and Balotelli will leave.

G95

Agree0 Disagree0

That may be true, in which case I think Cavani will go to Man City. The reason I say Balotelli the other way, is that he has had meetings with them in the Past.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Rvp will not leave for man city. Do you think he will appreciate the booing like Nasir gets from the gunners now!

If rvp leaves it will be to leave the pl!

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly think the 'prestige' of man city in respect of drawing top players sizzled out considerably during this season

1. top players in the team... still no cohesion and they played below par when silva's form went awol
2. arrogant or spoiled big buck mercs (balo, tevez, nasri) doesnt add to team sipirit if you ask me
3. you cant buy class spot on
4. the megawages just put a player in a dead end once they flop in this squad... so its make or brake for any potential incoming player to mancity
5. all in all MONEY is written all over this club in every single area... it just taints any chanceof genuine sporting/fairplay spirit the team could have had

you may call this an excuse for envy of their buying power on the transfer market... but its not like that for me...ireally do despise this club for warping the nature of it... how i liked the team under erikssen... elano, petrov, ireland, swp, dunne... used to be very likeable

f*** petrodollars!!

ps: not that there arent players that do it the right way... kompany, toure bros, silva, richards, hart or adam johnson... too bad they work in this black hole

asyd

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would RVP want to leave Arsenal for Citeh after yesterday

Agree0 Disagree0

While I agree with the points from asyd - Sadly, plently of players will still be drawn to the wages. Loyal football players are a rare breed, and thankfully RVP seems to be one of them.

While I don't think he will go to Man City, plenty of other players might:
Higuain
Pato
Cavani
Giroud
Huntelaar

It's a long list...

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Without a doubt they will come for him, as will other top teams. we can only hope that he excepts the £150 grand which i think will be Arsenals offer to him. also hope that the Arsenal board have decided to stop being a selling club and put there foot down.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would RVP really go to that club. Hes got too much class and too much respect for Arsenal, Arsene and us the fans. Will sign new contract extension and even if he didnt he would not go to another PL side.

Agree0 Disagree0

City are gonna lose alot of players this summer. Balotelli and tevez are just the start. Aguero is being chased by madrid and if they put a decent offer they may accept it to rebuild with cavali hazard higuain and so on.

adam johnson wants out. its only a matter of time before others feel the same.

its not a team its just individual players playin for their ego.

i can see bale joining them as barca have dropped out and madrid have ronaldo who plays there. can see city ponying up 40 mill for him. spuds likely to lose 4th spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

They still own Adebayor of course.......

Agree0 Disagree0

Roberto Mancini really enjoys fighting with his strikers doesnt he? The only one he hasnt words with is dzeko and thats prob because he's over 6 foot tall. I reckon they will bring in Cavini cuz he's a big strapping lad for Rocky Roberto Balboa to argue with next season.

Arsenal Forever

Agree0 Disagree0

City will sell Tevez and possibly De Jong, Dzeco, Kolarov, Johnson and K Toure as well as Adabayor, Santa Cruz and Bridge.

They may sell Balotelli but I don't think they will if Mancini keeps his job (which I think he will).

I can't see them buying Van Persie.

Aguero will not be sold at any price.

They will buy one, possibly two strikers and I think Higuain and Cavani top the shortlist.

PS. Nasri is looking quality again.

Agree0 Disagree0

All citys good players will leave, thier sick of it after 2 years, aguero is likely to go for madrid maybe?dzeko is too good to sit on the bench and balotelli causes to many problems, and i think citys attraction has gone, big name players wont want to go there ny more coz the amount of money they spend and nothing to show for it ex.europa league + 2nd place

Ed,

Do you agree that we only need Podolski, Vertonghen, M'Vila and Hazard as we have some great players even Rosicky has been on another level the past couple of months which is really refreshing watching him play like he has and with the back four looking solid and our midfielders the OX, Wilshire, Rosicky, Arteta, Ryo, Walcot, Song, Gervinho and Rambo swell as Sheza in goal with those additions I think we could win the prem and the champions league as I feel we would be unstoppable!

Thoughts?

Deano {Ed007's Note - That is a pretty big ONLY there Deano. There aren't many teams that group of players wouldn't improve, although I am not convinced with M'Vila. I watched a lot of Rennes earlier in the season after Celtic got them in the EL, I wasn't impressed in general and then he got sent off against Celtic.}

Believable2 Unbelievable7

Ed ok M'Vila aside as Vertonghen can play his postion, what a squad we would have to beat the likes of AC, Barca and Man utd.

Deano {Ed007's Note - I hope you don't beat Man Utd ;-) All joking aside though it would be a great squad.}

Agree0 Disagree0

For players costing around 70 mln? Is that all?? Haha. Credit to song today... I still don't think we need M'vila.

I would love to get hazard although I suspect we would be outbid by mancity - to replace balotelli on the left.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Billbob,

Arsenal have a lot more than £70m to spend in the summer buddy!

It is not just about being out bid it is where the player would like to excel as a player and Hazard would flourish at Arsenal.

Deano

Agree0 Disagree0

Deano - I am sure Hazard would be excellent at Arsenal. He is a but of a diva, but Wenger has managed play egos before (Henry, RVP).

But if we are in a bidding war with Real Madrid and Man City - well then we aren't going to win it.

And yes - in many cases its absolutely about money. Is Nasri flourishing at Man City? Did Adebayor flourish there? Is Nuri Sahin flourishing at Real Madrid? What about Eto'o at Anzhi...

Let's not pretend money doesn't dominate this game.

Also - We have a lot more than 70mln to spend?? Are you sure about that - because I am certain that is VERY unlikely.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

Billybob,

In January Arsenal had £120m in cash put aside the board said so at the end of the season with more money plus money from selling players I think we might have a bit more than £70m to spend, so we will be able to compete with anyone for players as the stadium is almost paid off and Arsenal earn more ticket revenue than any other club in this country and possibly the world and will be totally debt free unlike the rest of the clubs in world football so have faith fellow Gooner.

Deano

Agree0 Disagree0

I want to see Gervinho sold as he seems to add nothing to the team when we have the likes of the Ox and Rosicky.

Arteta for Prime Minister! What an absolute BEAST! Seriously he's scored so much this season and has been a huge influence. Second most influential player this season, after Djourou of course *sarcasm* anyway, back into third then lads and with 19th and 20th to play next we're looking strong. Only gonna get stronger for next season.

COYG

Now for Motd ahhhhh.....

Ben

Believable22 Unbelievable2

Support djourou - he will play the next 2 games.

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

19th and 20th could be the worst teams to play, id rather play two midtable teams

Hi guys just saw this link saying that the BFG is on his way out to make room for vertonghen.
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Transfer-gossip-Arsenal-to-sell-Per-Mertesacker-in-summer-after-one-season-according-to-report-article888160.html

What are everyone's thoughts about that. Ideally I'd love both, but I know that they wouldn't be happy on the bench. But I don't think per played that bad to be sold after one season. Thoughts?

Aussie gunnah

Believable9 Unbelievable22

I have never really liked PM4, he isnt particuarly mobile and isnt very versatile. However Vertonghen offers good versatility and would partner Vermaelen perfectaly, just like he used to and does for his country.

Why does everyone hate on Merts? He's not a paced defender in any sense of the game, but he reads the game fantastically! He is incredibly calm and I read somewhere (I can't for the life of me remember where) an interview with one of our players who said he's a fantastic influence In the dressing room! If Vertonghen comes in, ideally he'd be a midfielder/deputy cb for Vermalen to play lb in emergencys in my opinion.

Mertesaker was a panic buy thrown Into the deep end with no time to adjust, and just when he was improving he's injured, wait till next year and he'll come good! I'd put money on it! If we'd got Samba/Jagielka had been bought and been thrown in, from their epl experience I'd of expected adaptation to the way we play and to our club in about 3-5 games

Mertesaker needs a season at least, people who want someone's head after 5-7 months when that person is leaving their home and family to play the game at a new club in a new league with players whom none speak your language as their first need time, if you can't give him that then your no better than abramovich

Remember, Koscielny was labelled a "liability" Or "not good enough" till our game against barca, now he's as critical to us as Vermalen In defence!

Judge Merts next season

Agree0 Disagree0

D

Spot on mate.
Some people on here have NO idea about different players attributes.

There is no way that Per is getting sold in the summer if anything Vertonghen will play DM/CB/LB if needed there is no way that he will take Kos's place as he is a top top defender.

Deano COYG

NA$RI WHATS THE SCORE,
$AMIR NA$RI WHATS THE SCORE!
What a plonker that money grabbing person is haha!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we signed Vertonghen, Mertesacker may leave as I can't see him wanting to sit there as 4th choice CB...

G95

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not agree with selling Merts after one season however if we bring in Vert then we might have to. Reason ?

We must keep Djourou as he is one of our eight home grown players.

I love to sell Djourour and have Kos / TV5 / Vert & Merts as our four center backs but unfortunately we are tied by the Home Grown rule.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Djourou and Mertesacker get waaaaay too much stick, but i would swap either of them for Vertonghen in a flash.

Oleg Maputo

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't like to slight any Arsenal players and I do think Per is better than people give him credit for, however you said it yourself he was a bit of a panic buy so was probably not Arsene's first choice. I think Wenger sees Vertonghen as a viable 3rd choice. We would have a beast of a defence again with Vermaelen, Koscielny, Vertonghen and Miquel. Ed can you explain the numbers for me on the home grown rules so I can do the maths. Because I am sure even without Djourou we would qualify. Thanks.

In Arsene I Trust. {Ed027's Note - 8 home grown players in a squad of 25

Agree0 Disagree0

I think per should be given more time to adapt. However something to think on. If he was to be sold maybe he could be part of any deal for goetze as I think bigger clubs are gonna come in and tear Bdort apart this season for players. They have a couple of impressive defenders.

Reports from France are that arsenal are going to make a £9 million move for Marvin martin as he looks to leave france.

BIG G

Believable19 Unbelievable9

Well if they get relegated it is possible, although he only has 2 goals / 4 assists this season. I have not seen his performances - but is it a bit like Podolski at Koln; class player on a sinking ship?

Billybob

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope so this boy is right up wengers street, hes going to be a top player..

Wilshere has had another set back and is unlikely to feature this season at all now.

D

Believable17 Unbelievable9

08 Apr 2012 14:07:36
I can't see us buying a player that would cost over 15m, I think Poldi and Hoilett will come in and with Rosicky looking better in the center and Wilshere returning, I don't think another CM is needed unless someone would be sold.

I would love to see Almunia, Chamakh, Park, Arshavin(he isn't the same player he was two years ago), Diaby(great player IF he can stay fit, wich he can't).

Bendtner has had some great performances lately, but he needs to change his attitude, I don't really follow Vela, but I rated him in the past.

The youngsters on loan such as Miquel, Myiaichi and Lansbury should be given a chance.

Does anybody value the likes of Wellington, Campbell, Bothelho, Bartley, Shea?

And about reservegoalkeeper Martinez, could he challenge Sczesny? Because Sczesny himself came in goal as an unknown goalie.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

I only ever see Campbell play for Costa Rica but when I do watch him he always looks like he can make something happen. His goal against Spain (World and Euro Champions) shows his quality. He has the confidence to beat players, shoot from distance and to make very decent runs. Just consistency he needs to work on, ability he has in abundance.

Bermy Gooner

Agree0 Disagree0

James shea almost got an England call up when our gk crisis was going on, that was ahead of foster and loach if I remember so someone rates him highly, Campbell and galindo look good prospects, Campbell especially looks a talent, galindo needs the trusty Bolton loan when he finally gets a permit, Wellington is a decent player but such a poor attitude, maybe wenger could sort him out? And botelho has apparently had the odd spat, but the bloke looks a brilliant typical brazilian left back! I rate him highly, only Campbell is higher on that list for me'

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever happened to mannone? He looked like he might develop decent

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2012 13:31:59
We should sign Dempsey and people are saying 10million but I don't think we could get him for that considering he's their best player by far.

From Marvin Martin

"Last year I wanted to remain in France. This year, I am keen to leave and move abroad."

What are peoples thoughts on Arsenal making a bid?

Marty

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Hasn't really reached the same heights as last year. I think he would be quite low down our list. I still feel wenger's ideal target is hazard and realistic target is belhanda.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pretty sure this guy scoffed when he heard we were interested, and said why would he join arsenal? If he went to leave he would look at top clubs like barca or madrid. It was either this guy or Marko Marin, whichever one said it is a total person and I hope we never sign them!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 games so far scored 2 and assisted 4, not good enough.

The mirror says that Arsene will sell Per Mertesacker at the end of the season.

Thoughts?

Colney Bandit

Believable6 Unbelievable22

Thats bulls**t, he hasn't even been here a year.
Nick.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barring a ridiculous bid from man city or PSG, this is highly unlikely.

Unless he wants to go to Anzhi

Agree0 Disagree0

That couldn't be further off the mark, he loves it here, hes said it several times, and hes adapted so well to the epl

Agree0 Disagree0

Why ?????????

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get some people's hate for Merts!

He's very slow I admit but the way he reads the game so, so well and even if Vermalen and Koscielny are the first choice cb's Per is a great third choice!

D

Agree0 Disagree0

I love per so hope this isnt true! think hes done pretty well overall and is great back up to kosc and verm who are 1st choice now - gooner wayne

What is Arsene's priority in midfield this summer: a DM or CAM? It seems to teeter between the two all the time.

ARSENAL ARE IN FOR GOTZE
ARSENAL WILL SIGN M'VILA

We can't get both can we? Can we..........
Anyways I hope we sign a quality DM like M'Vila and play Chamberlain at CAM.

Believable14 Unbelievable8

Lol im sorry but we have no chance of goetze this summer, hes signing a new deal

Greg

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just putting up ridiculous headlines the press shoves down our throat. If we signed 10% of the players we are linked with AFC would employ thousands. I want to know wether or not wenger sees the DM position or the CAM position of more value to be filled.
