Ed With a dm surely coming in who is most likely. Kondogbia, gustavo, bender to mention a few. Also who bid for kondogbia earlier in the window and did we make a bid for bender earlier in the summer {Ed029's Note - It has been suggested by Ed002 that Arsenal is one of the three clubs that realistically have a chance of signing Kondogbia (the others being Juventus and Man City) but he says there is still other interest as well.}

One website today confidently stating that Wenger won't splash any significant funds on new players until qualification for the Champions League group stage is hopefully secured on the 28th of August.
God, this is going to be a long, long month.

Believable40 Unbelievable24

We all knew this what's new.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger won't splash any cash FULL STOP!
Wenger didn't splash in the bath as a kid, wenger never went near puddles as a toddler, wenger never had a mark on him when coming out the pub toilets as an adult, wenger and splash don't go guys.

If we win the league - we are the proven best and therefore don't need to add to the squad.

If we come 2nd-4th we can mount a challenge for the title and compete in the champions league, so we don't need to add to the squad

When we come outside the top 4 this season I need to hear the excuse for buying SFA in the next SUMMER window!
Im going with, 'well we had a lot of players injured this season therefore now they have returned we will be far stronger next year'

Another wasted opportunity.

Too many excuses, the board don't have the courage to fire Wenger, but they should.

I'm sure that the reason he won't sign anyone is because he's looking to get the PSG job.

George Graham anyone? (joke)

Agree1 Disagree2

IMO this is just lazy journalism. We saw the same crap two summers ago. First it was 'Wenger has a plan!' then it became 'First we need to sell and see what we need' then that changed to 'We're waiting til we've played Udinese' then that changed to 'we're waiting til the first game of the season' then that changed to 's***, we just got raped by Man U in the most humiliating day in Arsenal's history. Maybe we better sign some players. '

It's b*******. We are not waiting for a qualifier. Players know damn well that they make us stronger by joining so our chances would be higher of CL footy if they moved sooner. And seeing as they want to move, this is in their interests. We could have signed Mata before Udi but as the Eds have explained millions of times Wenger dithered and we lost out. Our CL tie this year is no different, the reason we haven't signed anyone is because we went on tour, didn't have a decent plan, got knocked back for Bender, Gonalons and Grenier and only now are we starting to deal with it. Oh and Wenger's fax machine isn't all that quick.

Chamakh to make the move to Crystal Palace later today. undergoing medical at the moment, and should be announced by the end of today.

This surely means that another striker will be coming in. I know Walcott and Podolski can play up front, but Wenger plays them as wingers, meaning we need another out and out striker. If Liverpool are right and don't sell us Suarez, i'm quite worried that we won't have a good enough strike force to challenge. Abel Hernandez anybody? Not sure how realistic he is?

Believable27 Unbelievable16

I heard rumours (from this site, not itk) that we might line up 40m Euros for Benzema - but surely, if we are going as high as 45/50m for Suarez, Real would just jack up the price - the same way everyone who sold to City did (25mil for Milner? 25-odd for Nasri?!)

IMO, publicly stating having 70mil was a huge mistake - just means clubs will hold out for as large of a chunk of the pie as possible (or, maybe we have double that, and saying 70 was just a ploy? hmm)

Agree4 Disagree0

Shame the boss couldn't get the best out of him. One that got away, the boy had talent.

Agree0 Disagree2

There is no chance of spending any large sums of money until we are guaranteed a CL place. Only then we will panic buy the leftovers. The club are just too cautious. If we do not qualify expect a lot of disgruntled fans to be calling for change. Only good thing is that there will be plenty of spare seats available. I think that the game against Fenerbahce is massive for the future of our club.

Agree2 Disagree1

We do not need any new strikers, we got the best striker in the world - BENDTNER!!

Agree1 Disagree2

Also Giroud :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Hernandez isn't good enough from what I've seen. Would much rather have Muriel or even remy haha.

I really feel giroud can be a top top striker

Eds, do you know anything about Stefan Reinartz, a DM from Leverkusen. Value looks to be about £7m and he can also play CB. Has recently started playing for Germany?

Believable6 Unbelievable14

He has a funny and unfortunate name

Ed, do you know of any real interest in any of anzhi's players. I've heard that there's been interest in eto'o but I imagine that's tabloid rubbish. I'd love to see willian or even diarra.

{Ed022's Note - Eto'o is a no straight off. He won't drop his £270k per week wages. Willian is a good target and he has interested Chelsea in the past and Spurs are sniffing around him. I don't think there is any concrete interest from Arsenal in any Anzhi players, pure speculation mate...}

Believable30 Unbelievable6

Ed, are any teams interested in Lacina Traore from Anzhi?
6'8, surely he could win a header or 2 in the premier league.

{Ed022's Note - I've seen Per Mertesacker outjumped by Robbie Keane. Height is not always a given that the player will win a header or 2. Not heard of any recent PL interest in Traore to be honest...}

Guardian reporting interest in Luiz Gustavo. Likely?

{Ed022's Note - Luiz Gustavo's head has been turned by speculation regarding Arsenal and Chelsea being interested in him. Wolfsburg are very keen but he would like to test himself in the Premier League...}

Believable26 Unbelievable11

Oh how I'm praying this to be true!

Agree1 Disagree0

Sign him up, Sign him up, Sign him up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yet another player linked but we all know we will not sign him and will place our faith in our current squad plus a few "freebies" thrown in. Pretty dissolusioned by this summers lack of business and have lost faith in the club's ambition, unless of course the ambition is to save money in which case mission accomplished.

Agree3 Disagree0

We don't need him, more than covered in that position. We need to only really look at a backup keeper, not sold on Fabianski.

Agree0 Disagree2

Wolfsburg is offering incredibly high wage to this guy and he is very close to them. It's not going to happen for us

German newspaper Bild is now reporting that the Brazilian midfielder, Luiz Gustavo, is stalling on his proposed move to Wolsburg as he would prefer to move to the Premier League and compete in the Champions League with Arsenal or Chelsea. might be interesting developments if this turns out to be on the money

Believable26 Unbelievable6

And stunt the growth of Ramsey. No thank you.

Agree0 Disagree8

Yeah he is great, we would be doomed without him, he is really great in passing the ball to player next to him, excellent. Don't you think he had enough time to grow?He made so many mistakes which destroyed us so many times. Probably the slowest player of the entire EPL

The Croydon Guardian are reporting that Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh will have a medical with Crystal Palace today and it is thought that the move will be a permanent one rather than a loan deal which had previously been discussed. The deal is expected to be completed before Palace play Lazio at Selhurst Park tomorrow.

Believable18 Unbelievable6

More to it, sky are reporting its going to be another free transfer arsenal going to terminate his contract and let him go for free.

{Ed022's Note - I have heard its a mutually agreed termination of his contract which would give Palace more scope to manage his wage demands. He is on 60k per week currently so expect Palace to offer £45k-50k per week with bonuses...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Crystal Palace were impressed with the amount of time Chamakh could balance a ball on his head. They then realised the ball was stuck to his head with the amount of hair gel he puts on but by that time he had fooled them and they had already signed him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Lol, good one Sam :-D

Eds, heard a piece of information that Ivan gadizis will take control of all transfer dealing with immediate effect (press friend), think it bs but have you heard anything? {Ed027's Note - that won't happen

Believable5 Unbelievable49

Taking control meaning pass on the sad news and crossing his fingers that AW has something up his sleeves.

It seemed impossible from the beginning (the LS-deal), but I somehow felt there was some indication for AW that it wasn't, since they kept pushing for him.

If it was all just long shots trying to trigger some clause, I'm for once embarrassed on the behalf of Wenger.
I'd rather just've known the truth about not doing serious business from the very beginning. I feel played, and don't feel any satification from "having tried", if this is where we get off.
Now save those millions rather than going all last-minute-lottery with 'em.

Christ. Goodnight all. At least it's friday soon. I need beer in plural for this.

Agree1 Disagree0

You don't need someone else to tell you that

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger would never ever give up his control on transfers to anybody, that has been a major problem and will continue to be a major problem
