Hey Edd002

I just wonder if the rumors about Arsenal being interested in Cristian Pavón are true?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes - and I answered this last week.}

Is it as a replace for Alexis?

Sorry, must have missed it. So is Arsenal going to put a bid in for the player? And would he be considered as a possible Sanchez replacement?

Thanks again, appreciate all the info you provide us with!

{Ed002's Note - I would expect an offer for Pavon - but it has to be high to support a work permit. He would be more of a Walcott replacement than Sanchez.}

Thanks Ed!

Being a Walcott replacement would be a massive relief. Theo's not justified his place at Arsenal at all, and we need more than one attacker to give us depth.

Do you expect Arsenal to go for Tomas Lemar with Sanchez out the door?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes but availability remains a potential issue. Michael Emanalo remains adament for now.}

Signing Lemar worries me as we offered £90m last summer, albeit set against £60m for Sanchez. The problem is that Monaco having been offered £90m will be difficult to deal with at a lower fee and is Lemar actually worth £90m, even in today's inflated market?
Sanchez's boots are difficult to fill and the pressure on an expensive replacement would be huge. Perhaps it would be best to sell Samchez for £30m, of possible, and spend on defensive and DM replacements. We could then look to replacing Sanchez in the summer when things may have quietened down.

Right now, I'm not sure any top player would want a move to Arsenal.

Agree RG61. Monaco have no urgent need to sell and don’t need the money so they have all the power knowing we will be desperate if we lose Sanchez. Also with Liverpool having a interest with all that spare cash they have now it would take near 100m for sure. I am just not sure he is really worth that at this time.

We would be better using any cash we can generate from sales to get a experienced CB (Not another Young Greek boy) . Don’t forget Per is retiring and Kos as not really got long left now at the top and is a living on a injury tightrope of late. So one of them needs to be replaced at least in the near future.

Good knows what is going to happen with Ozil but I suspect he will wait it out until Summer. Cazorla looks doubtful that he will ever play for us again so there is two more top quality players that will very likely need replacing soon aswell.

I would quite happy to see the back Walcott for any half decent fee and would definitely accept the reported 13M on offer for Le Coq also.

The issue is we don’t know for sure if Wenger is going to leave at the end of season so it is difficult to see any major incoming signings by a manager who may not be sure of his own future plans at this time.

Hi ed002. Happy New Year

Although most like your recorded previews, I prefer you've written summarys.

My question is have we any serious targets in January, or is going to be the same old bollox as usual.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club would like to add players but timing is not something I can sensibly comment on. The major issue in January is that clubs do not plan to sell their better players and clubs know how difficult it is to replace them. Arsenal have dug themselves a hole over contracts and really should have let Oezil and, particularly, Sanchez leave last summer. Now they are stuck with getting a return on Sanchez without a suitable replacement. They know that the GK situation needs addressing but the players they were considering are dropping off as I have previously explained. At CB a bid has been rejected for Benatia so a decision needs to be taken. In midfield there are ideas but no commitment and then we have the wide and attacking midfield issue that won't go away - and maybe Oezil is delaying something happening. Again a striker needs sorting out. With the two management additions changes will come of course.}

Forgive me please Ed, but to which management changes are you referring?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Raul Sanllehi and Sven Mislintat.}

09 Jan 2018 13:45:04
Sanllehi to start in Feb. That's a good appointment! Although 'head of football relations' because Wenger hates the term 'Director of football' haha.
Lemar and Leon bailey would certainly show inent but 2 prolific signings in 1 transfer window, let alone it being January with a club that is falling to pieces is highly unlikely.
A lot of positives but the situation is only set to get worse before it gets better. In numbers we have a squad full of players that either don't want to be there, have contacts about to end, are too old and need to move on or just aren't good enough! Sanchez (gone) , Ozil (contract) , Giroud (fed up) , Wilshere (contract) , Walcott (not good enough) , Koscielny (aging, achilles) , Mustafi (not happy) , Monreal (aging) , Per M (retiring) , Elneny (not good enough) , Le Coq (not good enough) , Cech (aging) Chambers (not good enough) , Debuchy (not good enough) . Need i go on? We have no back up for key players (some of which aren't top quality anymore anyway) in my opinion. Long road to success yet at Arsenal FC!

Ed02 I know we all like to moan on here, but from your previous comments it appears that you very much rate Raul and Sven, and that we should be very happy that both have chosen to join the club at a senior management level?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes you should have a warm feeling about them Epping (if that is your real name). Just to be clear - this is a different warm feeling to that warm damp feeling Arsenal supports have on the inside of their legs.}

09 Jan 2018 14:48:41
Ha ha, yes Ed, i had that latter feeling when we went 2-1 down to Chelsea last week! But its nice to cling-on to some positive news for a change.

Ed's.

Do we still hold any interest in Kondogbia?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}
