MOTM Hector Bellerin for an absolutely amazing performance solid from start to finish every tackle superb and the passing unbelievable. Give yourself a pat on the back. If I had to pick a second has to be Xhaka what amazing pressing, perfect timing great movement no idea why he was subbed he was doing brilliant all game. Ozil was amazing as always, creating chances and running all over the pitch. Mustafi is worth £70M.

Same old rubbish. Jogging back when the ball is lost is a disgrace no matter what league you play in. I didn't expect to win the league when the new manger took over but I at least expected a change in attitude from these overpaid prats.

Absolutely desperate.
We have so many players with zero defensive ability.
Bellerin was absolutely dire and must be replaced by Lichtsteiner for the next match and replaced during the next window.
Exactly as I thought, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Iwobi would be a defensive disaster.
Credit to Cech and Guendouzi. Torreira looked decent when he came on.
I don't envy Emery, who somehow has to get this squad through to the next window, when we need to replace 5 more players.

It wasn't Wenger's fault.

19 Aug 2018 07:41:07
It was. The players signed under him are pants.
The signings made under Emery are class, Guendouzzi is a gem, Torreira is amazing, Lichtsteiner was impressive against City

Compare them to the Xhakas and Bellerins who Wenger placed so much faith in when he should have disposed of them years ago.
Emery doesn't have a proper team to work with.

19 Aug 2018 13:05:16
As i see it Emery places as much faith in them as Wenger did.

19 Aug 2018 20:18:19
Bgd, in some ways he has very little choice and he is seeing things for the first time, unlike us. But give him some credit. He has hooked off wengers god child at half time for not performing in both games, which should see him replaced by torreira. He substituted Ozil for not producing and if he carries on not producing, i'm sure he too will be replaced also but it all takes time and observation. He has no favourite and that is refreshing.

18 Aug 2018 19:24:59
Well - defence, pressing and urgency still not there, Sort it out Emery.

Chelsea have a new manager.

Xhaka is not cut out for the premier league. Too slow with shocking tackling ability and zero positional intelligence. Why did we give him a new contract? The young kid is miles better than him.

A midfield pair of torreira and Guenduozi with ozil in front of them rather than on the wing should be the way forward in my opinion.

Agree whole heartedly with that punani.

16 Aug 2018 18:14:11
If we play a holding two, that should enable our right and left back to give us width up the pitch.

17 Aug 2018 17:35:32
How can you be a professional footballer who is slow can't tackle and has no positional sense?
Somehow Xhaka has done it and became worth 34 million in the process.
It defys all logic but it's happening right before our eyes week in week out, is it worth the rest of us digging our boots out again and applying for a similar role at the club:-) I'm sure I could be Xhaka replacement should he not be available at some point.

20 Aug 2018 16:55:03
Gunner the big question is, was he worth 34mil, was mustaffi worth 35mil. For me, we got mugged.

12 Aug 2018 18:04:47
Well beaten by the better team 2-0 but I am not going to slate the team too much it going to take time with Emery and we are starting from way behind City in terms of overall squad quality. They kept going and showed good desire and could have scored a one or two with a shaper touch which will come.

What I would say though is Xhaka and Bellerin are not good enough don't offer enough defensivly or offensivly. Still early days for Guendouzi as still young it was difficult opener for him but will come good. Hamstrung a little in having both usual LB's out AMN did ok but is a better midfielder he was certainly targeted early on. I think Both Aubu and Lacazette should start for me. Torreira looks good and will add the needed bite.

Lich at right back monreal left back bring torreira in fo xhaka, drop myki for lacca and i think it may look better. But changing attitudes takes time, a long time.

{Ed025's Note - i was very underwhelmed by myki and ozil steve, big players but very little aptitude today, and that has to change..

12 Aug 2018 19:40:43
Agree Steve it takes time for change in attitude to happen and we need to give Dick time and support to change the attitude.
I'm not saying he will or should by any means but if Dick wants to drop Pea or Xhaka we should support him equally, he works with the players everyday and will know them far better than us.
Pea is just an example because he's the fans favourite right now but no one can be an untouchable going forward.

12 Aug 2018 19:58:23
Gunner, ed 025, we may get another knock back next week but our season has to start the very next game.

{Ed025's Note - that will depend on if your better players can step up to the plate steve, the main problem i see is there is not a natural leader in the team mate..

12 Aug 2018 20:26:54
Who's the one player we have who will do anything you ask of him to the very best of his ability, he lead by example in regards of effort and be as vocal as you ask him to be, he will play full back CB CMF even in goal if asked and give 100% in all positions he's asked to play?
Elneny may not be our best player by some distance but his attitude if given a 7 or 8 game run as captain might prove contagious.
Not an obvious choice admittedly but the more I think about it he's probably our best option as leader if given that job to do.

{Ed025's Note - for me G62 i think the captain should be a player who,s place is not in question mate, so that rules him out for me im afraid..

12 Aug 2018 20:58:46
Gunner, we are desperate but not that desperate. Pull yourself together.

12 Aug 2018 21:21:44
Totally agree Ed025 mate but who is automatic choice? Pea Papawasarollingstone Ozil Monreal? Hard to think of another and I don't see any of them as leaders but I do appreciate Elney is not top quality as a player on ability but in attitude and commitment I really think he's the best we have as he will do anything you ask of him to his absolute best.
Steve I know it sounds crazy and probably is but I'd give it go just for the roll your sleeves up for the team mentality I think he would bring.
George had big Tony barking his instructions on the pitch and I think Elneny would do whatever Emery told him to do.

{Ed025's Note - if you think he could be the next TA mate...then im in..

13 Aug 2018 12:35:03
We were desperate for a Winger in the window and didn’t get one.

11 Aug 2018 21:53:16
Alright boys
What's your predictions for tomorrow
G62 what you think
I'd say you might get away with a 3-0 beating.

I\'m looking forward to Sunday\'s macth and after last season\'s fans protest against Wenger by not attending matches and leaving seats empty, I expect a full house rocking with the sort of excitement we haven\'t enjoyed for a while.

What interests me is to see the beginnings of a new style under Emery, which will of course take time for the players to adjust to, so we must remain patient.

I was wondering:

Cech or Leno?

Bellerin or Lichtsteiner?

Aubameyang and Lacazette in the same team?

Who will captain the side?

How will the new pressing style and formations play out?

Will Torreira make his debut or has the match come a tad early for him?

How will Sokratis settle in?

Will Guendouzi be given a chance after impressing in the pre-season matches?

With two of the most difficult matches to start, I am hoping we can avoid defeat and get at least a couple of points in the bag, particularly as both Man C and Cjelsea may have World Cup stars missing.

10 Aug 2018 08:17:48

RG61 what would you start with? Assuming silva will play as Spain exited early but not the rest?

10 Aug 2018 10:17:55

Hi MM - My starting line up would be:

Cech - Only just due to his experience in the first match of the season

Bellerin (pace against City) - Mustafi - Sokratis - Maitland Niles

Ramsey (if fit) - Torreira (if match fit) if either are not fit then Xhaka, then Elneny

Mkhitaryan - Ozil - Aubameyang

Lacazette

Your choice?

10 Aug 2018 12:26:47

If you paid over a grand for a season ticket and didn\'t bother turning up in \'protest\' you\'re a mug. And regardless of how much you hate the manager, that\'s pretty poor support for the team: supporters support the team whether things aren\'t going well or not.

Also, the big games were full last season. the supporter apathy might go away for a bit because of the perceived \'fresh start\', or if we build up more points more quickly (but let\'s bear in mind our home form last season was phenomenal, so the idea that people weren\'t being entertained is nonsense - we were poor away from home) .

TBH I think our fans expect too much from us too quickly, and one rough patch over the next few months and then it\'ll be Gazidis, or Kroenke, or the board, or whoever else is responsible for the fact we\'re not the best team in the country. And I think if anyone ends up protesting the board by giving them money for an empty seat that\'s even stupider than not turning up to protest the manager.

10 Aug 2018 15:50:10
I think Dicks preference is 433, it isn't mine but i would go
Cech/ leno
Lich mustaffi Socrates niles
Torriera
Gouendouzi ramsay
Ozil
Lacca auba
Torreira to protect the back four, Gouendouzi to provide passes from deep, ramsey to get into box from deep and ozil to flit around in the hole behind strikers.

Oh yeah, and let Lucas Perez leave for £4m.
Terrible business.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Aug 2018 21:44:59
The terrible business was buying him in the first place, we obviously paid far too much for a journeyman with one good season before we bought him.
