Bernard's agent claiming that he will either join FC Porto or Shaktar Donesk.

Reason being he would rather join a good club and get guaranteed playing time than joining an elite club and risk not making starting 11.

There must be as many Arsenal fans as happy with this news as are disappointed at the thought of Suarez arriving.
Bernard would add little to the current squad and we could make far better use of £21.5 million.
Suarez, good as he is, is not worth £45-50 million.
Let's concentrate on a keeper and DM first.

We may have an American majority shareholder but can we please refrain form using banal Americanisms such as 'do the math'? There is an "s" on the end of the shortened form of 'mathematics' just as there is an "a" in 'peanuts'!

Agree with NG. Market value is market value, not absolute value. If it's 50m then pay and be done with it. At least then the attention can be focused on the midfield situation and a goalie.

Torres was never worth 50m though, only to chelsea who no matter how much you have to pay for a player they can afford.

I think Bernard will go to a team & league where he can shine & show off then in a year or two get a big money move to Real, Barca, PSG or Monaco I don't think he has the quality to stand out in the EPL

What has "elite club" got to do with Arsenal? Porto have been more successful than us over the past 10 years.
