I have heard a rumour today which, to be honest has got to be total rubbish, I hope. We are apparently interested in Soloman Kalou. Eds please tell me someone is winding me up, surely this can't be true.

As a back-up/bench player I think he'd be good, especially with the injuries to the team. He did well for Lille last season, can play both wings and is at present playing as a centre-forward for Lille. Apparently he has a release clause of a couple of million. What's not to like?

Obviously the caveat would be that Kalou shouldn't be a first-team signing.

He would be an awful signing, no point getting rid of Gervinho only to replace him with Kalou.
