We're being linked with Moutinho. Impeccable player, always thought he was the real star of the Portuguese team.

Operates predominantly as a central midfielder, but would be a great addition at CDM too. Genuinely excellent player, would be great if this was true.

Sorry mate, I just can't see Moutinho as a defensive mid.
He's small in height and frame, which, as Coquelin has shown, isn't that big an issue, but more than that, he's not aggressive at all.

I know he's very technical, good passer of the ball and he's been tipped for a move to England with Utd and Chelsea, but if he was played deep, he (in my eyes) could only really play a Cabaye style role, which, if is the case that we want that type of player. we'd of just got Cabaye.

That's just opinion though, I haven't watched too much Ligue 1 lately, my attentions are usually focused on The Prem and Serie A, so maybe I'm just behind the times and he's turned into a defensive monster.

He's not a better defender than Ramsey, Wilshere, Ox, or Coquelin. I think it would be a waste to sign him

Someone else who was small in height and not aggressive was makalele he wasn't a bad defensive midfielder!

Makelele was an out and out defensive midfielder when he was at Chelsea, he had good defensive positioning, could tackle and did have an aggressive side to him.

Moutinho is not a defensive midfielder, he doesn't play defensively.
If anything, admittedly, he's dropped a bit deeper from being Sportings No.10 to playing centre mid for Monaco, but whichever was you paint it, he's still not a defensive midfielder.

Do not agree at all Wire - good player for sure but not what we need in any way right now.

To be fair Lars bender isn't even an out and out defensive midfielder. He ventures forward am awful lot. Not like coq. Bender is more of a Ramsey than a coq. Sven hos brother on the other hand seems more disciplined, though I've not heard of interest in him.
