French outlet L'Equipe claim Arsenal have looked to steal a march in pursuit of Mbappe's services though.

They say Arsene Wenger has offered £87m for the 20-year-old in the midst of extending his own Emirates stay.

AFC showing intent 😪.

Risible to give any credibility to this "oh look, absolutely no real news to sell our papers/ load real click bait" made up drivel.
Why, why, oh why, oh why, would Kroenke and Wenger spend £100m on a 20 year old when they have never shown the inclination get even mildly close to doing so before and why, just why, does anyone think Wenger has the pulling power anymore. Look at all the talent that has stalled it's development under Wenger in the last 10 years. The Ox, Gibbs, Ramsey, Theo, Sancho (! ) , hell he even stifled the prodigious skill of Bendtner, and that takes some doing!

Max, I dare say you're reaction to this news, whether real or fabricated, is a little jaded. I hadn't ever eaten bacon my entire life, so why oh why would I do it now? Oh wait, I do - lovely bacon buttie every Saturday, for the last 10 years.

As for stalling development of players; perhaps the players have something to do with this too? What makes reading your post even more perplexing is you mentioning Sanchez in your list of players whose development has stalled. His development stalled at Barcelona and playing for Arsenal has again put him on the map where teams are interested in him.

youve talked about stalling on development, Look at Rob Holding bought for 2 mil? now the last 9 games been one of our best players, Theo and OX stalled there own progress, Theo is good for a game goes missing for 3, OX is the same. Sanchez is 3 times the player he was at barca, and let's not forget nasri, cesc, RVP, henry, hleb, pires all world class when they left arsenal all because of wenger. Mbappe and wenger is a perfect match!

I typed Sanogo but didn't check pesky auto "correct". Hence accidental reference to (nearly) Sanchez.
I do feel the players have responsibility for some of their own development, of course, but if the coaching didn't have any influence then what would we have coaches for?
As for Holding, yes I think he has done well this season and long may this progress continue. I suggest Chambers as counsel not to expect too much too soon.
And yes, bacon sandwiches can be a discovery at any time in life but (a) they aren't a £100m gamble and (b) whilst I don't know the author of the bacon sarnie epiphany, I make my comment of extreme doubt based on the last few years if watching Kroenkes business moves. Any serious move for Mbappe would be wholly out of kilter and in my view, as Wenger is nowhere near the pull of Klopp, Mourinho, Guardiola, Cute, or even now Pochetino, and with no Champions League to lure, I ask again why we would even think we are in with a hope of buying Mbappe for such a vast amount of money?

Max, make light of my previous aversion to bacon at your own peril. While they may not cost 1 million quid, the point I was trying to make is, just because something hasn't been done before doesn't mean that it will never be done.

There are several reasons why he might choose Arsenal, one of them being that he'll get first team football with us. At Real, Man City, he'd likely be behind a couple of other players. Not being in the Champions League this season when we have a history of always qualifying for it is something I personally feel will not be as detrimental as some people make it out to be. Lastly, like J10 pointed out, we have a history of developing world class players. I think you are selling us well short of being a destination for up and coming players like Mbappe.

Also, what world stars have Klopp and Poch pulled in lately?
