Ed,
Firstly good morning and hope you are having a great weekend.
It looks like we are being linked with William Carvalho again this morning - any truth in those rumours?
We have a few similarity CM / CDM and it seems like we need to clear out some players from a squad size and wage perspective. Do you think we will have 3 or 4 players sold from the squad ( assuming players agree to location and wages) ?

Thanks for your responses on the Sanchez post below as they were interesting and look forward to future responses.

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware there is no current interest in Carvalho from Arsenal. A lot does depend on who leaves, admittedly, but I have not heard of anything that would make him required.

There are a few surplus players at Arsenal, but the likes of Coquelin and Xhaka are not amongst them. Coquelin is seen as a utility cover player, a position he is happy to occupy. Xhaka is seen as the future of the Arsenal midfield.

The ones set to leave are likely to be Wilshere, if anyone will take him that he will agree to move to. Gibbs is a possiblity to go, Monreal and Coquelin are to provide cover for Kolasinac. Obviously Chesney and Ospina will depend on the players, Wenger would like to keep one, at least, but both players want first team football. Jenkinson, Campbell, Perez and Debuchy are all available.

Arsenal are trying to convince Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay and Sanchez as well. Wenger wants both to sign new contracts.}

Thank you

Sanchez is the interesting one. If he wants medals the Bayern makes perfect sense and would still get strong money.

If wants London - not sure what the options are outside of us.

Man City - outside of ridiculous wages, what does he get - a better chance of EPL but not Europe. I know we are not in it this year.

Arsenal - is Sanchez waiting to see who we sign to show our intentions? Good chance to do something in the league plus Europa cup. As no signing fee, we should be able to offer best wage. Surely if we sign big players and offer big contract then we are good?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - yes, Sanchez wants to see ambition and a changing of attitude at the club. He doesn't want to see players laughing and happy after defeat. Sanchez wants to win.}

Ed, I've noticed you've not mentioned Özil in that list? Is that because you understand he's now staying? Or just that it's a long list to cover! Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - because I am not sure what is happening with him right now.}

Ban iPhones on the pitch, changing room and team bus!

Lower base salaries and higher win bonuses

Big bonuses for top two finish

At the same time the owner of the purse strings needs to follow that lead also

When did Wenger change from ditching players who were under performing or showing decline to giving them the benefit of the doubt and when did he change from upgrading the team every year to not. I just don't understand that transformation and why it happened.

Our silverware is better over past 3 seasons, still doubts over Pep's EPL credentials and it's in Manchester

They do have a blank cheque book and pen to help cover up Pep's shortcomings plus Sanchez wage demands.

We need to start planning with or without him - Lacazette and Mbappe up front for me all day long.

indeed man city have been left to rot and get older. but they won't stand for that so sooner or later they will be back on top or very close.
